I'm not trying to actively participate in the argument itself (It's a clusterfuck), but I'm genuinely worried if that's something I've brought up. If it is the case though...Hrm...What. Are. Words. Right! Rather than focusing on one narrow point that's being portrayed, even when it's off-topic, everything has to be looked at and discussed. Hence why the thread has turned into what it has, and it's hard to nail down one thing. There's so much being thrown arounnddd~

Oh yeah, no, absolutely. If it's an issue that it's here then by all means I don't mind it getting moved. I'm not sure if it's a problem or anything that it's here, but hell, the barriers came down on that rule for the time being so I thought to go for it. I'd say it's fair to have it moved if someone wants it moved.

The lore and DO team are willing to manage this as an IC issue. I am still trying to wrap my head around of how to deal with this. As it stands, I've given the two respective teams the greenlight to do what they do, and we'll see what I can pull out of my sleeve.

Also, the area where this complaint has merit is the precedence we've set beforehand. I remember, very distinctly, an Unathi who was wearing a fashionable pink wig, and who was also homosexual. Both were acts which go very distinctly against Unathi culture. In response to this, the player was stripped of his whitelist, though there were a few other fun offences that led up to it. Understand this: there is a point where shit becomes too ridiculous, and someone needs to curb it. I just need to regain my bearings a little and figure out where that line is. I will say, though, if that makes removing TF's whitelist over these offences, then we'll issue him a preliminary warning first, and then follow-up only once he steps over that line again.

I will further say that every player is free to submit a complaint about whoever, and my staff is required to give these issues heed. After that, we can deem if they require action or not. No one is, or should be, outside of this liberty, and no one is given or should be given a chance to simply avoid the issues they are presented with. Please remain understanding and respectful of this fact.

I honestly think a lot of this misses the mark on what constitutes a healthy community. Feedback and criticism are important - what do you do when two people disagree on something? How do you decide whose feelings matter in the end?

I've also posted on the Furaffinity forums for over two years, so I have a pretty good idea what furry "stereotypes" are. Keep in mind I didn't say furries in general. Stereotypes.

You brought unnecessary points here, you don't play alien races with whole fursona behind, you're playing a living being given how they lived through Adhomai, etc. You're not your character, you're not supposed to be bringing shits like that.

Just because Safiya lives in mendell doesn't change anything, she's a tajaran and is treated as a second class citizen. Safiya is the only tajaran to be played like a large anthro furry cat, not like tajaran should.

If the infractions described in the complaint have already been dealt with by a staff member in-game, a player complaint will not change the outcome of this. If you feel that the outcome was unjust, you are encouraged to post in the Staff Complaints section of the forums.

If I can try to provide an explanation, these serve to establish character. They're again minor to outright non-punishable in and of themselves, but can help further other points. For example, the idea: "Safiya is a very physical and touchy character" is backed by the notion that she once ignored a corpse to nuzzle another Tajaran working in her lab. Granted, that's not worth much alone, especially considering that was done at round end, but when your sole aim is to portray Safiya as a character who is contrarian to Tajaran lore and more in alignment with furry stereotypes, it does go a long way. When you couple it with the frequent mentions of sex she makes (and a few other claims people have brought up here), it does result in something bad.

For the syringe gun, it's outright bad. You shouldn't have to take the medbay's syringe gun every round (or whenever you feel like it) and load it up with chloral, greatly affecting the balance of power in a lot of situations, simply "in case you might have to fight someone". A much easier solution would be to simply resist the urge to maul people when it's uncalled for, or face the consequences (if you had a valid reason to beat someone up I doubt you would get in major trouble for it). So that's another unfavorable trait for Safiya.

Lastly, the point isn't to get you punished for any of these incidents, but establish whether Safiya is a reasonable, balanced character, or one that requires modifications to better fit in the game.

No, your actions serve to establish character. Refer back to the example I gave of the uber-snowflake captain girl. She had a proper justification for all of her traits, and it would be overzealous to punish her harshly for any of these traits alone, yet the sum of their parts made for something much worse.

Also, just a remark, but I think you ignored the part about the syringe gun. You tend to drop arguments that you're losing, so if you never look at those I can see how it becomes easy to imagine I'm just a bad person harassing you baselessly.

Well, no, if Furry has an actual valid explanation for the syringe gun then there'd be no reason not to clear that (the claims of self-antagging were only a small part of the problem, however, and not one I even really considered).

However, I actually tried to look through the complaints archive and couldn't find anything mentioning Safiya or a syringe gun, so the burden of proof rests on Furry at this point. (Also I understand your frustration, but there's no need to step down to his level and start spouting curse words.)

And @Furry, you don't actually have to deal with any of this if you want to. But what's gonna happen if you start trouble and refuse to address it, is that the show is going to move on without you. You seem convinced that you're flawless in your actions, and I'm not sure what to say to prove you otherwise. I'd much rather you realize the issues on your own, but the absence of that doesn't really preclude admins and DOs from intervening.

This thread has been an amazing ride. From pink Tajarans to syringeguns and powergaming. It literally does have everything. Annnywho.

I did some thinking with some mods. Some discussing with Kekboot and Soundscopes. As I alluded to in my reply, with this little section:

And the staff feel as if it's reaching this point. Basically, understand this: all aliens on this server have lore and standard expectations set before them. When you submit a whitelist application, you agree to adhere to expectations. Which is why we stripped said Unathi player of theirs: they showed a complete disregard for those expectations, despite the fact that they could somewhat reasonably explain why the character was acting like that. Shit got too ridiculous, and we felt like the player was failing to uphold their end of the deal that was struck with the issuing of the whitelist.

These actions have been addressed prior to this complaint, or right after it being submitted. They should no longer be repeated outside of reasonable bounds, as per the agreement reached. If they do, further action will be taken. And also, do keep this in mind: you aren't playing just an anthro-cat, you're playing a character whose species has a preset lore here. And we'd appreciate that being stuck to.

And a quick clarification on why a warning is issued over just stripping the whitelist: I came here and found the situation half-baked and not the most well managed. There was a warning issued a few months ago, whenever the entire situation assploded, but it was also nulled for one reason or another. Ultimately, irrelevant from my perspective, as I can do very little about that now. So, I chose to basically start with a clean slate, and proceed with escalation properly.
