The Tupkala’s Rebirth: A Bright Step Forward!

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Today, Grand Councillor Weashbi announced in an address to the public that the Tup Reformation Act is near completion. The Federation’s most prestigious branch of Enforcers shall once again shine as the shield between its citizenry and whatever the Spur may throw at them. An excerpt of the announcement has been transcribed below for our readers:

Spoiler

“While the recent actions that necessitated the Reformation Act were worrisome and troubling, as Grand Councillor, I understand the vital role the Tupkala play for our nation’s security and the peace of mind of each citizen. It brings me great pleasure to announce this new generation of Tupkala are some of the best and brightest the Federation’s Kala have seen in the past decades. I have no doubt that with the old rot removed, the Tupkala will again be those we look towards with reverence and respect.”

With the final phases being wrapped up, Weashbi announced that a ceremony would be held within the Kal’lo Qeblak Observation Dome, hosted by the Starchanters. The Ceremony will include the inauguration of the new Tupkala Commander.

The reaction to the announcement has been very positive, many in the Federation claim to be overjoyed to know the Tups are standing tall once more. We will continue to bring you the news on this development!

The Directory of Defense Operations Turns Towards the Traverse!

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Today, the groundbreaking organization established by Grand Councillor Weashbi, took its first major official action. In the previous weeks, the Federation’s best and brightest were examined critically and six Directors were found and placed within the organization. Thankfully, the Grand Councillor promised to handle the Tupkala Reformation personally so the Directory could focus on other matters.

The Directory declared their intentions to “increase presence” within the Traverse due to the recent troubles from the Federation’s distant worlds. The Qukala have been asked, in addition to the previous measures, to begin stationing themselves at accessible points and provide medical and social aid to all Federation Citizens that have been negatively impacted by recent events.

To ensure a swift resolution to the civil unrest, the Directory stated the Ruupkala and Sromkala have been deployed to the Traverse to restore faith in the Federation and to drive out dangerous activity with the assistance of the Qukala already present. The Directory said they are “optimistic” about the situation, and believe it can be resolved without any further serious action. We'll place our faith in them and hope for the best!

The Commander of the Tupkala: Kezoq Torq-Bep!

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Assembled in the enchanting halls of the Kal’lo Observation Dome, Skrell from many walks of life were seated within the main dome, wall to wall. The Starchanters appeared on the stage and carried out a delightful and introspective lesson about tempering one’s self against temptation to falter in their duty.

Once the Starchanters had finished, the Observation Dome’s holographic technology was employed to summon the Stormcloud, the Tupkala’s patron constellation. Under this constellation, Weashbi took the stage and spoke to the crowd.

Spoiler

“The Tupkala have long been regarded as the best of the best, and within the Federation, that has always been a high bar. To command such a force, one must demonstrate outstanding skills that allow them to shine among the elite. Luckily, thanks to the ever potent aptitude of our citizens, we have found such a Skrell. Allow me the pleasure of publicly introducing Kezoq Torq-Bep, the selected candidate to command the Tupkala!”

The Skrell in attendance stood and greeted Torq-Bep with a warbling ovation. Torq-Bep received it graciously, and allowed it to continue for a few seconds before speaking.

Spoiler

“I never thought that one day I would receive the great honor of leading the Tupkala, and words can not properly express the depth of my gratitude to being afforded the opportunity. It may be a surprise to some to learn that I was chosen from the Sromkala, but I assure you that the things I’ve learned during my time with the Dream Enforcers will be exceedingly useful as Commander. I will strive to serve the Federation and its people to the absolute best of my ability.”

The Commander’s speech was met with another ovation, and the ceremony sooned ended after Weashbi officially inducted Torq-Bep into the Tupkala under the watch of the Stormcloud. With the ceremony ended, the Tupkala are well and truly restored, a promising development. Some observers are commenting on Commander Torq-Bep's history with the Sromkala, as most of the previous Tupkala Commanders were from a more martially minded Kala, but we're sure the Grand Council has everything under control. We’ll see you viewers next time!

The Qukala, Reinforced!

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The Directory of Defense Operations broke ground today with a historical announcement sure to change the Federation for the better. Many know that the C’thur and Diona within the Federation are considered valuable allies, but many were unsure how well they would integrate with Skrell society. These concerns lead to the creation of the Lukala, a subdivision of the Qukala, where the C’thur and Diona could safely be overwatched while in service to one of the Kala.

At the request of the Grand Council, the Directory was to review the Lukala’s performance and evaluate them. This assessment showed promising results, the recent events in the Traverse served as fuel for the Lukala’s success, reports show that many dissident operations were swiftly halted by organized efforts from the group.

The Directors have determined, along with the Qukala’s leaders, that continued division of suitable and experienced troops would serve as a determinant to the Federation’s Navy. Therefore, the Lukala has since been dissolved in favor of integrating the Vaurca and Diona into the lower ranks of the Qukala as full-members.

Likely related to this change of policy, Grand Councilor Weashbi has reportedly engaged in face-to-face discussion with High Queen C’thur and Queen Vytel. After these discussions ended, the Grand Council announced that the Federation would begin supplying the C’thur Hive with additional resources to produce new Warrior-Type Vaurca for the Federation, though Weashbi gave a firm statement, “The High Queen has graciously accepted terms and conditions for this mutually beneficial agreement, so our citizenry need not fear the increased C’thur Warrior population. There will be more information released as we move things along.”

Nralakk Federation Officially Recognizes the People’s Republic of Adhomai as the Sole Adhomian Authority

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The relationship between the Nralakk Federation and the nations of Adhomai have been tumultuous, mostly as a result of the politics of the planet. It was only after the introduction of the Project Unity Initiative, a humanitarian effort aimed to support non-combatants, development of infrastructure, and provide monetary assistance to the People’s Republic of Adhomai, that some began to see the Nralakk Federation as a worthwhile ally.

Recent events in Biesel’s Capital, Mendell City, have resulted in a dangerous and threatening terrorist plot being uncovered by the MCPD and FIB. This plot would have left District 8, home to much of the Skrell Population in Mendell City, in ruins. The Grand Council was quick to have an investigation launched into the matter, requesting aid from the FIB and our Tajara allies in the PRA.

This investigation revealed that the attempted terrorist attack likely originated from the Al'mariist community in Tau Ceti. Recently, a nuclear power plant project failed within the Democratic People's Republic territory and many in the DPRA, unjustly, held the Federation responsible. It is believed the attempted bombing of District 8 was “retaliation” for the believed interference.

In light of this, it was the decision of the Grand Council to rightfully recognize the thwarted terrorism as an act of aggression from the DPRA. Representatives of the Nralakk Federation have announced the wishes of the Grand Council, outlining that the People’s Republic of Adhomai will hereby be considered the rightful civil authority of Adhomai. Representatives that have chosen the New Kingdom of Adhomai as their entities of interest are being retracted due to the Nralakk Federation’s declaration of illegitimacy, and instead requested to focus on expanding the relations between the Nralakk Federation and the People’s Republic of Adhomai. There are no official Representatives that have chosen the Democratic People’s Republic of Adhomai as their entity of interest, and the Nralakk Federation continues to view them as an insurgent organization.

Queen Vytel Mobilizes for the Federation!

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

In her first public appearance since the C’thur arrived in the Federation, Queen Vytel graced an assembly of Federation Officials and Reporters with her presence, though she requested no other recordings be made outside of audio recordings. Queen Vytel addressed the crowd, and the public:

Spoiler

“Ever since our gracious Skrell host received us and stabilized our dire situation, I, more than any other among the C’thur Queens, have felt the strongest sense of gratitude towards the Federation. Our Hive, upon Sedantis, frowned upon engaging in conflict ourselves and my duties largely were those of peacekeeping. But, it is here, in the Federation, that my Brood has grown to their largest number, and their reputation continues to spread far and wide as exceptional warriors. Before continuing, allow me to formally express my thanks towards the Federation for everything they have done for the C'thur, and my Brood.”

Vytel paused, allowing the assemblage a small time to clap.

Spoiler

“Recently, Grand Councilor Weashbi, on behalf of the Grand Council, brought myself and my Mother a proposal. He asked if the C’thur would provide additional warriors to the Federation, as the Federation’s military has always been limited by the low reproductive rates of the Skrell. Honored that the Grand Councillor would turn to the C’thur for this task, I eagerly volunteered my Brood. Weashbi, along with myself and High Queen C’thur, understands that many Skrell are still wary of us, as newcomers to their homes. To resolve these fears, we have agreed to the Federation’s request to augment these Warriors with Loyalty Implants designed by the Federation, so that the Warriors will consider the requests of the Federation equal to that of a Queen.”

Vytel then stepped aside, and several C’thur Warriors took the stage. Vytel, along with a Qukala Officer, demonstrated the effects of the implants for all to see. When faced with a conflict between Vytel’s Orders and the Federation’s commands the Warriors enter hibernation. This safety measure has soothed the fears of many naysayers. The Directory of Defense Operation announced they would integrate these new Warriors into the Nlomkala in addition to reinforcing the Vaurca already within the Qukala.

Insider Report: Grand Councilor Weashbi in Diulszi

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

After the news of the Qukala reformation, Warble Inquirer has confirmed the rumors of a face-to-face meeting between Grand Councilor Weashbi Jrugl and High Queen C’thur, being the first time the Vaurcesian Queen and Weashbi meet, and the first official visit of a member of the Council to Diulszi. What follows is insider confirmation, as well as a direct interview with the Grand Councilor, regarding these events.

High Queen C’thur arrived at the Federation injured and seeking aid in an undisclosed age a few years ago. While the documentary Whispers of Glorashi was for many the introduction to the C’thur Hive, Vaurcae by then had already made an impact in our economy, from mining to scientific research. Ever since, C’thur has come into prosperity inside and outside the Federation, both brokering deals with human megacorporations and coming closer to the core of our society. Nowadays, Aliose and Qerr’Malic, just to name a few examples, house important populations of Vaurcae.

The status of High Queen C’thur has been a matter of speculation to those outside the borders of Xevrax, Diulszi’s capital. The C’thur Hive is led by a Council of three Queens, with the two others, Queen Mouv and Queen Vytel, leading an age of mutual aid for the two species. Earlier this year Queen Mouv gave a holographic speech at the Aliose University of Medical Sciences as part of the ‘Understanding Vaurcae: New Paths to Xenobiology’ colloquium. What followed were questions regarding the health of her mother, after which the hologram disconnected due to a tight agenda. Queen Vytel, in any confrontation with the press, has opted to ignore these questions too.

While Weashbi Jrugl was vague when approached about his opinion on the C’thur Hive before the elections, it is true that he aided the Vaurcae to permanently settle in Glorashi. Now, years later, he returns to a changed system.

“He was here for like three days,” said an employee of the Sulvix shuttleport. “I was honestly shocked at first, but pleased to see our Grand Councilor outside the elementary systems.”

Reports from confidential sources say that the meeting took place in over six hours and was behind closed doors. Queen Vytel and Queen Mouv are now confirmed to have assisted. According to these reports, at one point past the third hour mark the four of them were left alone in High Queen C’thur’s royal chambers. What happened next is left for speculation, as here is where our sources contradict each other, with the reactions of the Grand Councilor left for speculation. However, following this report Jrugl Weashbi has provided us with a brief interview about his visit.

Spoiler

WI: How was the meeting? Did you expect anything else?

JW: The C’thur have always impressed me in a variety of ways, and as a Xenobiologist at heart, I enjoy interacting with them. The Queens, unique in their own ways, are very talented individuals with their own roles. The C’thur have integrated well into the Federation, and it’s only logical that we begin to move towards integrating them into roles they are well-suited for, such as service in the Qukala.

WI: If you do not mind, would you share a bit on Queen C’thur’s health?

JW: She is much better than she was when they arrived here. Her health is better. Other than that, there’s not much more for me to say.

Following this meeting, it is said that Weashbi remained in Hotel Ver’kolt at Vrona, a C’thur-run resort already listed in our top ten places to spend your vacations at. It was after his return to Kal’lo that the Qukala information was made public.

Social Assistance for C'thur Improved

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Earlier today, the Office for C’thur Development and Integration announced the assignment of five hundred Caretakers, which will supervise multiple hive-cells of the C’thur Hive and ensure their welfare in Federation territory.

This historical decision is an important advancement for the Vaurca in the Nralakk Federation, and part of the ten-year plan for C’thur, known as Qerr’C’thur, enacted in 2460.

In their Viv-ID account, the Office said:

Spoiler

Great news! The process for all C’thur to voice their issues with their livelihood has been streamlined. Qrra’Myaq-Kaax will communicate with their respective hive-cells in the following weeks, and will provide more details about this next step in their integration.

The Vaurca Queens have favored this advancement, and it was revealed to be a discussion point when Grand Councilor Jrugl Weashbi made a visit to Diulszi a month ago.

BREAKING: 100 Year Anniversary of Nralakk Population Initiative

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

With the 100 year anniversary of the Nralakk Population Initiative (NPI) coming tomorrow we at the Warble Inquirer have received updated numbers; as well as an exclusive behind the scenes interview with the head of the program, Ormish Jrolk.

However, for those who may be born after the program started, or for those who were not aware of it’s start, we offer a short recap. In the years before 2363 the Nralakk Federation saw a stark population decline due to the X’Lu’oa and it’s effect on the fertility of Skrell galaxy-wide. The Grand Council was tasked with finding a solution to this steady decline; and thus, the JPI was born. Originally meant to simply modify the genes of an infertile Skrell the program quickly evolved. While reversing infertility was simply not possible in most cases due to the reach of the X’Lu’oa, researchers quickly found that by taking samples of two willing participants and “merging” them into a Skrell-made egg an embryo would become viable. The ensuing offspring would be a near-perfect genetic split of the two donors. This information sent waves through the Nralakk Federation and the initiative was given additional funding by the Grand Council on the stipulation that numbers would become public every 100 years.

Now after 100 years of the JPI, we are finally able to see its reach within our society and how effective it has been in improving our population numbers. We now have Ormish Jrolk giving us their first hand information into the program by giving updated numbers of those created through the program and what to expect for the future. Full details can be found in the interview below!

Quote

REPORTER: “Doctor Jrolk, first I want to thank you for your diligent work on the JPI. It’s truly a marvel what science has been able to achieve for the Federation.”

JROLK: “Ah, it is truly nothing. There is no limit to what I would give for the Nralakk Federation… I do want to say, I had met with Grand Councillor Weashbi and they were very pleased with these updated numbers. So pleased in fact, that we were given funding for another 100 years.”

REPORTER: “Incredible news! And do tell… What are the numbers of the current Nralakk Population Initiative?”

JROLK: “Well, it’s truly amazing what we have accomplished and this may seem like a shock to some- And I hope that it is a good shock! But our current numbers show that around 8.6% of the Nralakk Federation are offspring of the JPI.”

The reporter can be heard letting out a slight warble.

REPORTER: “Wow… Well- You heard it here first! Do expect another 100 years of the JPI. Thank you very much for coming, Dr. Jrolk! And star-speed on your future research.”

Warble Enquirer: A Year in Review

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

With the year coming to a close, we editors of the Warble Enquirer have come together to showcase the good, the bad, and as Xuushi Longtail might say… The slimy! We hope that you, our loyal readers, will join us as we look back on some of the important events of the year that we reported on:

Representatives Flock to Adhomai

At the start of the year, the Nralakk Federation attempted to prevent the proliferation of nuclear armaments on Adhomai, with representatives of Nralakk flocking to the Tajaran homeworld in an attempt to prevent nuclear annihilation of its inhabitants. The proposed Non-Proliferation Treaty was denied by all three factions (the NKA, the DPRA, and the PRA) with the majority of the Tajaran people refusing any of the Nralakk Federation’s attempts to de-escalate the situation. An unfortunate turn of events, but this should not deter us and the responsibility the Federation has in assisting our neighbors in the Orion Spur.

Weashbi Jrugl Re-election Speech

Quote

“My promise to the individuals within the Nralakk Federation was to ensure prosperity and peace…” - An excerpt of Councillor Jrugl’s speech.

Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl reiterated their promise of peace and prosperity for citizens of the Nralakk Federation at a press conference during the last election; and we at the Warble Enquirer, by and large, believe that they have kept their promise! Councillor Jrugl has continued to consistently lead the Federation since their re-election, and their policies enacted this year are proof enough that the Nralakk Federation is reaching higher than ever before!

The Tupkala’s Rebirth: A Bright Step Forward!

Quote

“…I have no doubt that with the old rot removed, the Tupkala will again be those we look towards with reverence and respect.” - Councillor Jrugl during their announcement of the Tupkala reformation.

One of the many examples of how the Grand Councillor is upholding their promise to the citizens of the Federation… The controversy behind the old Tupkala is well-known, even outside of the Federation; and thanks to their actions a deep diplomatic stain on the Nralakk Federation’s reputation can be seen throughout the Spur. The Tupkala reformation is an example of how we should move forward! Councillor Jrugl’s quick response to the corruption of the Tupkala further proves their dedication to upholding the ideals of the Nralakk Federation.

Qerrbalak Contract: Settled!

Quote

“Citizens of the Nralakk Federation, I thank you for your patience during this time. I want you all to know these decisions have not come easy and they have been made with great care…” - Councillor Jrugl addressing the concerns regarding corporations operating within the Federation.

Initial reactions of the average Skrell regarding the idea of megacorporations expanding into our Federation were mixed. Many feared spikes in rent and cost of living, or even potential instability caused by corporate influence on our economy. With the announcement of the Special Economic Zones, these fears were addressed. It’s still too early to tell what the long term effects of these relaxed restrictions on corporate operations in Federation space will be, but it’s difficult to deny the positive economic impact the Special Economic Zones have, and are projected to have, on planets such as Qerrbalak, Qerr’Malic, and Aliose. Stay tuned for future editions of the Warble Enquirer that specifically address these issues!

Nralakk Federation Officially Recognizes the People’s Republic of Adhomai as the Sole Adhomian Authority

Quote

“…Representatives of the Nralakk Federation have announced the wishes of the Grand Council, outlining that the People’s Republic of Adhomai will hereby be considered the rightful civil authority of Adhomai…”

The events surrounding the foiled DPRA attack on Skrell civilians living in the Starlight Zone marks the second time this year that our species has been a target for terrorism. In response, the Federation had declared the DPRA and NKA to be illegitimate states, and gave full support to the PRA as the sole legitimate authority on the planet of Adhomai. The PRA’s collectivist ideals emphasize the importance of working together towards a greater goal; something that should resonate with every citizen of the Nralakk Federation. It’s still too early to tell how this new relationship will develop, but we at the Enquirer are looking forward to a deeper relationship with our friends in the People’s Republic of Adhomai.

Social Assistance for C'thur Improved

Quote

“Great news! The process for all C’thur to voice their issues with their livelihood has been streamlined.” - An excerpt from the Department of C’thur Integration and Developments Viv-ID announcement

The C’thur have benefited greatly from being the second species to be integrated into Federation society; with the experience gained from the sometimes difficult integration of Dionae into our nation, the C’thur have been able to experience a more robust process and a better ability to accommodate their hive into Skrellian society. From their continued support of the Federation through their work in the Lukala and Qukala, to their diligent work ethic in the fields of engineering and research, they have cemented their place as welcomed, productive additions to the Federation.

100 Year Anniversary of Nralakk Population Initiative

Quote

“…[Our] current numbers show that around 8.6% of the Nralakk Federation are offspring of the JPI.”

A somewhat shocking development at first, the results of the first hundred years of the Nralakk Population Initiative were quite unexpected by most of us at the Enquirer - and probably by many others both in the Federation and abroad. This news at its core is something to be excited about as it brings us one step closer to treating the X’Lu’oa condition that affects our species. We will see where the Nralakk Population Initiative and advancements in embryonic cloning will take us on the 200 Year Anniversary in 2563.

2463 has been an intense year with all that’s happened, and we at the Warble Enquirer hope that our readers are safe, and we wish you a fulfilling New Year.

“We have to keep going! Only if it’s just one year at a time.” - Bloopy

Work Initiative Programme Announced: Relations between Nralakk Federation and Megacorporations Develop Further

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Officials have released a statement that officially announced the start of a new programme in conjunction with megacorporations operating within Federation space:

Quote

“...The Work Initiative Programme has been designed to provide opportunities for all Skrell who wish to see outside the Federation but don’t have the means to do so…” - A snippet from the announcement made yesterday by Chancellor Xul Lurq, who leads Qerr’Zolvq Industries and spearheaded the proposal.

An interesting development in the relationship between the Nralakk Federation and human megacorporations, the initiative aims to partner Nralakk Enterprises with the equivalent megacorporations that operate within the Federation. Contractors employed by Xomor or Qel’Zvol Hospitality can opt to transfer their contract to Idris Incorporated, allowing them to work within either their security or service branches respectively. Hephaestus has been partnered with Qerr’Zolvq and Nralakk Logistics, with Skrell from these enterprises working in fields such as engineering, mining, logistics, or as ship crew. Zeng-Hu has developed its already strong relationship with Tuz’qlip Researchers further through this programme but has also partnered with Ziip’Ta Medicinal, allowing researchers and now doctors to easily find work abroad.

One of the more controversial topics surrounding this new initiative was the ability for Tertiary Numericals to sign up for the programme. The Enquirer reached out to Councillor Jrolk for their view on the matter:

Quote

“We have made assurances that Skrell signing up for the programme who are Tertiary Numericals have shown improvement in recent years before being accepted. It should be considered a right for every Skrell to visit the stars, but we will not be sending those deemed unacceptable for this work-exchange programme.”

Our State Enterprises are currently finalising agreements with their partnered Megacorporations, and volunteers from all sectors have come forward to join the ‘first wave’ of Skrell to take part in the initiative.

Federation Relief Fleet Launches From Qerrbalak!

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

In a surprise address on behalf of the Grand Council, Ormish Jrolk of the Advisory Council announced they would be sending a large-scale relief fleet to assist the Solarian Alliance’s remaining territories.

“When we thought we were alone amongst the stars— when we were the only ones to make the first hurdle of exploring space— when we least expected it, that is when our first veritable ally made themselves apparent: the Solarian Alliance. Humanity has been a true ally to the Skrell, as both trade partners and interstellar allies, for the last one-hundred and thirty one years. Despite the myriad of human nations that have come to number the Spur, it was the Solarian people who welcomed us and enriched our perspectives with divergent outlooks on life.”

“It was truly a tragedy painted in the stars that our own internal struggles prevented us from helping the Alliance during their time of need. Now that our focus inward has been mediated, we can turn outwards once more: a referendum by the Grand Council that a belated response makes for a preferable alternative than willingly ignoring the Solarian crisis.”

Later that day, the press was allowed access to the dockyards where the fleet was being prepared. It was largely composed of superfreighters loaded with domestic goods and food, with a few “infirmary” ships that have the capability to act as mobile hospitals. Despite minor protests from cautious observers, the Council of Infrastructure and Transport has volunteered a detachment of Skrell civil engineers, C’thur Workers, and a significant amount of processed materials to the effort. The Qukala was also present, escorting the fleet with three Eyrixoq and one Ayoni class vessel.

The Relief Fleet is scheduled to launch the day after tomorrow and head into the Solarian Core Worlds. Once there, they plan to coordinate with Solarian officials and distribute their goods and services to anyone in need of assistance.

New Federation Embassy Unveiled: Nralakk Representatives to Continue Normal Services

Translated into Tau Ceti Basic

At the start of August last year, the Federation Embassy in Biesel was levelled in an attack that killed dozens of civilians. Since then, all Federation embassy services operated out of an office building a short distance away, still within District One. Services were limited as the building was shared with Mendell’s civil servants, causing many citizens - both current and prospective, to be unable to properly utilise the embassy and have their paperwork processed for just over six months.

Today, officials from both the Federation embassy and Mendell City have unveiled the new embassy building, a project that was bankrolled by the Nralakk Federation to ensure a speedy recovery of embassy services within the city. The new building has been designed to be more threat-conscious; bollards, bulletproof glass, as well as a multi-phase security checkpoint are just some of the newest additions made in response to the attack last year. The Federation has stated its intent to station more of its own Kala to keep the new embassy safe, working in tandem with members of the MCPD’s Counter-Terrorism unit.

Lieutenant Deputy Bernard Summers took to the stage once the new building was officially opened, offering their condolences towards the representatives of the Federation:

Quote

“...On behalf of the MCPD, we offer our condolences to the families of the victims of the bombing last year, and we make a promise to assist Federation Officials in Mendell however we can…”

Embassy workers are currently transitioning to the new building, and the embassy is scheduled to be fully operational within the week. Federation citizens, while elated at the news, have been seen at the site of the old embassy, holding a memorial service for the victims of the attack along with other supporters.

The Warble Enquirer offers its sympathies to the relatives of those who died in the attack last year, and we will be hosting our own vigil on Viv-ID in solidarity with those in Mendell.

A Federation Resolute

(Translated to Tau Ceti Basic)

The Beauchamp Massacre has affected Skrell all across the Federation deeply, from the core of Nralakk to the depths of the Traverse. Before proceeding, the Warble Inquirer extends its deepest sympathies to the lives lost in this tragedy.

Ormish Jrolk, spoke on behalf of the Grand Council at a scheduled press release regarding what has transpired during the Gate Incident.

Quote

"Owing it to a sense of paternity, like watching a tadpole make mistakes, learn, and grow on their own, the Federation has taken a step back, remaining sidelined, held off stage of the affairs of the Spur. Perhaps out of fear— a desire to shield ourselves from harm, too, did we mind our own. Stayed within our own oceans, even when faced with aggression. And now, giving this charity towards our human allies, we are seeing the fingers bitten by hungry mouths, and painfully punished. I-it…"

Jrolk paused here, clearing inky droplets from his eyes, and croaked his throat clear.

Quote

"It is the decision of the Grand Council that Quya mourning the passing of loved ones will receive monetary, mental, and other compensation from the Federation. So that they may never be forgotten, and always remembered for their work, a memorial is being erected for those we have lost to the stars, thanks to the compassion of our people. The Stars will continue to grow ever brighter, even as they burn and die out in a passionate burst of energy."

After Jrolk bowed his head, and moved to depart, the Skrell in attendance offered sympathetic croons. Just as the stage began to shut down, the Nlom rapidly shifted alongside audible commotion from behind the stage. Many Skrell remarked they were briefly torn between feeling great sadness and tremendous agitation. Moments later, Grand Councilor Weashbi Jrugl strided onto the stage, fists clenched and neck hidden by their headtails. Skrell with particular psionic ability noted that the Grand Councilor radiated a powerful psionic aura. Weashbi took center stage, and shot a look to the media technician who quickly procured a microphone and re-enabled the lighting. Weashbi turned his stern look onto the present reporters, who were quickly resetting their equipment.

Quote

"My Qu’draa, it is the decision of a persuaded Grand Council that our Federation has for too long kept its headtails close to its chest. For too long, we have allowed danger to fester on the border of the Traverse. For too long, we have remained passive amidst tragedies among sentient space. For too long, we have observed rather than acted. I will not allow the deaths of five-hundred and seven of our citizens to stand without trial, tribulation, or retribution. In the waning light of the stars, we have bore witness to an unfettered, unfeeling, and unapologetic act of malice reared against our nation, our people. Now, today, I will show the Orion Spur that hostilities committed against any Skrell, home or abroad, will be returned tenfold."

Weashbi turned and looked directly into a nearby holocamera.

Quote

"Admiral Beauchamp, and all those that commit to his way of rule. Know you have made an enemy of the Skrell. Stars have their grace, for I will have none."

Weashbi tossed the microphone back to the technician and left the stage. After a few long moments of silence had passed, the assembly erupted into high-pitched shrills and applause. It was joined by those watching the address across the greater Orion Spur. It continued even long after the Grand Councilor had departed from the stage.

Shortly after this announcement, observers noted heightened Qukala activity and seemingly, the activation of the JFV Qheles.

The Qukala: Spur-Bound!

(Translated to Tau Ceti Basic)

Today, above the skies of Qerrbalak, the best and brightest of the Qukala were assembled in preparation for their mission. The Grand Council confirmed and publicly announced the Qukala had been tasked to strike back against Warlord Beauchamp in retaliation for his crimes. It was decided this battlegroup would be lead by Admiral Reu’op Liqu, a distinguished Skrell with a long career. Though many describe the Admiral as, “Talented, but overly cautious.”

The Admiral has, as expected, taken the JFV Qheles as their flagship for this operation. This massive super-capital ship is capable of rapid “on the fly” fabrication of fighter and bomber craft, that are controlled remotely through psionic connections. While the Federation was unwilling to release the exact numbers on the amount of spacecraft the Qheles can support at once, they stated, “The Qheles is a tremendously formidable opponent from that feature alone.” Additionally, the Qheles is equipped with extremely long-range energy weaponry to provide heavy support from afar. This does not fully cover the Qheles’s capabilities, but it should give our readers a sufficient grasp of its might.

Grand Councilor Weashbi was present at the fleet’s sendoff and offered these words to the brave Skrell embarking on this heroic mission.

Quote

"It is one of my greatest privileges as Grand Councilor, to bask in the presence of mettlesome Skrellian warriors. Your service, sacrifices, and sendoff will never be forgotten as long as the stars still burn. Burn true and bright, stars guide your paths."

Observers on-site noticed the Vytel’s Warriors had a notably strong presence in the composition of the mission’s crew. An Qukala Officer, Iobqi Bek’Ix, was open to comment.

Quote

“We’ve made great strides with C’thur integration in our ranks, it would be an incredible waste of talent to leave them behind. It's a comfort to Skrell everywhere that the Federation and C’thur found such an excellent middle ground. Not to mention, the C’thur lost people as well and they’re just as angry as we all are.”

An assemblage of the Qukala’s Soldiers’ Quyas, proud citizenry, and officials gave a rousing cheer as the Qukala Fleet left their berths and warped out of Nralakk.

“An Unacceptable State of Affairs!”

With the Qukala returned home, and many Skrellian cries for justice answered, the Beauchamp Massacre Memorial was unveiled in the courtyard of the Grand Councilor’s office.

Quote

A holoimage flickers, showing a tall, shiny, dark statue of a Skrell in a worker uniform reaching out towards the stars. The statue is beaten up, and its clothes tattered, despite this, its headtails are positioned to display happiness. Tiny holographic text constantly moves along the surface of the station, the names of the Skrell lost in the Beauchamp Massacre.

Grand Councilor Weashbi was present at its unveiling, looking markedly better physically than he did at his last public appearance. Weashbi spoke to the public, as the statue was revealed.

Quote

"My deepest gratitude is extended to everyone who have wrought retribution, sought out justice, and caught a flicker of hope for those tormented by these merciless bandits. The Solarian Alliance, our own unyielding champions: no amount of honest praise can repay the charitable gift given to us by our allies. After the announcement of a commemoration for our fallen, many of you turn and assisted others, reaching out to give to the humans who also suffered so much, and many other tragedies, by the hands of these warlords. I am humbled by the blessings you have enacted on others, and have matched the donations you all made and will continue to do so. The stars swell with pride."

The assembly of citizen attenders and media reporters croaked with joy. However, they all collectively warbled in pensive and nervous tones as Weashbi paused, and they all hung on the tense unease in the air as they waited for him to continue.

Quote

"This incident, however, has drawn back the curtain that hid away a nasty truth: our Federation resides in an unacceptable state of affairs. It is now evident to the Grand Council, after my talks, that we should not— cannot, stay sidelined and offstage as events play out before us. It was a miscalculation of our predecessors to let vile poison remain unattended across our borders, believing it would not seep into our own nation. Hindsight is a strong ally, and there is still yet time for correction. The Skrell will no longer idle within our own territory while galactic events unfold. For this reason, the Nralakk Federation will put Qukala Shipyards and our industry to its fullest potential to help rebuild the Solarian Alliance Fleets, offering a magnanimous form of order on our borders, and a mutual sense of peace between us."

Weashbi gave way to Vice Admiral Khasia Mousavi, who expressed the gratitude of the Alliance. She went on to explain that despite using Skrell shipyards, it was important to the Alliance to use “human innovated designs” as they replenish their fleets. The Federation has agreed to accommodate this request, eager to see the results of human designs using Skrell materials.

Construction is scheduled to begin in two weeks, across multiple shipyards in Federation space.

Qerr’Malic: Protector of the Homeworld

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The following column was written by guest writer Qra’Vix, and is the first article in a series that will be focusing on news and current events throughout the Nralakk Federation from a local point of view.

Qerr’Malic, the Protector of the Homeworld, our species’ first step into space, and today a bustling centre for tourism and entertainment. Most who visit will only be exposed to the bright lights, fine dining, and luxurious venues that define Qerrbalak’s moon. Toqleq’wesi in particular is a well-loved city by locals and tourists, almost assuredly deserving the title of ‘entertainment capital of Qerr’Malic’, with its Xu’Xi gas bars being the most prominent establishments - you could say they were the driving factor in making the city what it is today. Tourists who stray from the designated tourist spots, however, may come across a very different form of entertainment altogether.

Gasriders, the term used for criminals who participate in the narcotic Xu’Xi Gas trade, have a large presence within Toqleq’Wesi, and can attribute the unprecedented growth of their organisation to the city’s reputation with tourists. Those who want a stronger high than what the vape bars offer don’t have to travel far to find a Gasrider offering the refined, highly illegal variant made somewhere deep below the surface of the moon, where the Kala have a harder time tracking their movement amongst the ancient machinery and cramped passages of the Second Surface.

This mark on Qerr’Malics reputation may soon be dealt with, though, as the Gasriders have been warned today by Governor Vel’monn themselves in an early morning press release:

Quote

“...and I say to you, those who pollute our moon with your presence and profit from suffering, the citizens of Qerr’Malic and the Federation at large will no longer tolerate your drugs in our communities.” - The final statement from Qerr’Malic Governor Vel’monn’s press release this morning, punctuated by applause from the audience. Registered Viv-ID users can click [HERE] for the full release.

The press release was followed by a set of proposed policies put forward by the Governor that are intended to limit Gasrider activity on Qerr’Malic’s surface, the most notable of which is the increased Kala presence within Toqleq’Wesi, along with harsher punishments for those charged with possession of refined Xu’Xi Gas. These policies and the press statement came as a surprise to Governor Vel’monn’s critics, who have for the last decade demanded action against the Gasriders and have even claimed that Vel’monn themselves was secretly benefitting from the organisation's success. Local political commentators believe that Governor Vel’monn is receiving increased pressure from the State, and with the threat of public opinion worsening the Governor has decided to take a more proactive approach. This new policy on combatting drug crime ironically came at a time when rumours of a renewed investigation into Governor Vel’monn’s alleged ties to Gasriders and the export of Xu’Xi Gas off-planet. I reached out to a representative of the Kala on Qerr’Malic some time after the event, who gave a statement that ‘all leads were being pursued’, and assured me that procedure will be followed ‘to the letter’.

Local opinions are mixed; some local Skrell are optimistic that the Gasriders will finally be dismantled in a few years, while others believe the Governor is only responding to public (and State) pressure and these policies ultimately mean little. Regardless of what your own personal views are on the Governor, as a native of Qerr’Malic, I’m personally relieved that the authorities have begun to take action.

If you enjoyed reading or have comments on this column, we encourage you to message the Warble Enquirer on Viv-ID. For those looking forward to reading more, our next article is titled "Qe’Lya-Maq: The Aweijiin Pilgrimage", and will be published soon!

Phoron Crisis Reaches Home; Travel Restrictions and Rationing in Effect

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl, Advisor Ormish Jrolk, and representatives of the State Enterprises have released a joint statement regarding the Phoron scarcity and its effects on the Federation early this evening:

Quote

“The Phoron scarcity has impacted us differently than our friends in the Solarian Alliance, or those in the Republic of Biesel, but nonetheless we are affected. Our reliance on Bluespace drives in our military has resulted in a lessened presence of Qukala vessels in the Traverse over the last few months; we have established patrol routes around the popular travel lanes between the inner systems and the Traverse, and we are urging all civilian vessels to limit travel outside of these lanes…” - An excerpt from the statement, spoken by Advisor Jrolk.

Included with the statement was a rough outline of what the Government will be doing to limit the impact of the scarcity on Federation citizens, including internal travel restrictions for all Numerical categories unless it is essential, and limiting the use of Bluespace Gates to essential trade and travel between the Federation and the rest of the Spur. At the same time, Councillor Jrugl acknowledged the increased Marauder presence within the Traverse, assuring the audience that the scarcity will not impact the Qukala’s efforts to respond to Marauder activity:

Quote

“We have done everything in our power to ensure that the Phoron scarcity does not impact our ability to respond to threats to the Federation or its people… The Marauder threat in the Traverse will still have to contend with our patrols, and the restrictions we have put in place will ensure our vessels are ready to react to any reported Marauder activity.”

Councillor Jrugl, when asked about the Qheles and the ability of the Federation to deploy it, stated that the ship would not be needed for the ‘foreseeable future’ and that while deploying it during the current scarcity will prove difficult, it is still a ‘maintainable asset’.

Federation citizens working abroad took to Viv-ID to voice their opinions, with many concerned that they will be unable to return home. Hours after these posts were made, the accounts of the State-owned Enterprises released their own statements on Viv-ID, assuring workers that travel to and from the Federation in relation to the Work Initiative Programme will still be possible.

Ormish Jrolk on The Phoron Crisis

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Grand Advisor Ormish Jrolk made a guest appearance on the early morning talk show ‘Low Tide: Qerrbalak’ today, where they took the opportunity to discuss how the Federation is dealing with the phoron crisis, as well as what we should expect going forward:

Quote

A video plays mid-applause as Jrolk comes onto the set. They sit down and gesture toward the audience before bringing their attention to the host. The host, Kelop Walb, begins to speak as the applause dies down.

“KW: Advisor Jrolk, I’m happy to have you on the show. How are you today?

OJ: Likewise, Kelop, I’m glad to be here. I’m fine, current circumstances notwithstanding.

KW: The phoron crisis. What are your thoughts on the situation?

OJ: That’s correct, and personally? I’m concerned, which I think is appropriate given the situation. The phoron shortage is affecting everyone, and there’s a level of uncertainty about the stability of things across the Spur that has everyone on edge.

KW: And what is the Federation planning to do in response to the crisis?

OJ: I think we touched on the main points in the statement made last week, but to summarise: we’re limiting the use of phoron domestically, which is mostly by our military ships and larger civilian vessels, while also rationing Bluespace Gate usage for essential trading and travel only. Phoron stockpiles are nominal for now, and we’re working closely with our long ally the Sol Alliance - as well as other communities in the Spur, of course - on possible solutions.

KW: It’s good to know that the Federation is taking the issue seriously. Are there plans for any further restrictions at the moment?

OJ: At this time, no. We believe more deposits will be found, or a feasible alternative to phoron can be developed before we reach a critical point; something that our researchers are making great headway in. Further restrictions have been discussed but we don’t think at this time they are necessary.

KW: An optimistic viewpoint, and one I think many of us will be reassured by. What effects can we expect from the rationing, and what are we already experiencing?

OJ: Although we only officially began rationing last week, the Qukala were already given orders to reduce phoron usage gradually up until that point. Do note that this has no projected effect on their productivity and effectiveness, despite the increase in Marauder activity outside of our established patrol routes - an issue which we on the Grand Council are watching closely. So far they have increased their presence where they were already the most active, and some groups have begun to expand their area of operations. We have also seen certain Marauder groups such as Tana’raq’iq make bolder moves as they raid warehouses and trading vessels that stray outside of our designated routes.

KW: And what can we expect in the future?

OJ: We can only speculate, but the Traverse, in particular, will see more Marauder attacks in the future; our phoron stockpiles located there will be a lucrative target as the shortage continues. Federation-wide we also expect a price increase for most goods and services, although with our planned economy we do not expect something as damaging as what we can observe in the Republic of Biesel.

KW: It seems that the Traverse is being hit the hardest in this ordeal.

OJ: They are, unfortunately, but they’re not alone; the Nlomkala stationed across several planets in the inner systems have also seen an increase in criminal activity. More specifically, we have seen Gasriders exporting more Xu’Xi Gas to the outer systems, and smugglers importing goods in low supply due to Gate restrictions. With economic instability, there are always opportunists looking to make money, regardless of legality.

KW: An unfortunate reality - well, I have more questions but we’re almost out of time. It was great having you here. Join me after the break as we discuss Weshi Beshi and their experience under phoron rationing!”

Shortly after the interview, the State released a statement to remind citizens that unnecessary travel is prohibited, citing phoron rationing and the increased risk of interstellar travel.

Tri-Qyu Scavenger Bust Seizes Millions!

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Earlier this week, the Qukala stationed at the Tri-Qyu Exclusion Zone finished a three-year operation aimed at seizing Glorsh-era artefacts stolen from one of the larger groups of ‘scrappers’ - the profession that focuses on scavenging within the Tri-Qyu nebula, mainly in search of technology to sell on the black market.

Amongst the cargo seized, a large number of still-functioning navigational computers were found, along with other devices not disclosed by the Government for reasons of national security, but clearly stated to ‘not’ be related to synthetics or AI technology. The items seized were valued at about 12.9 million sqiips (roughly 38.7 million credits) and were stored in a cache within a nearby asteroid field.

Quote

A picture of a well-lit room is shown, with a table in the middle. Surrounding the table are five Skrell and a Vaurca wearing Qukala uniforms, while on the table itself there are a number of computers and other devices neatly displayed for the camera. The faces of the Kala are blurred. Below the picture there is a caption:

"A photo with some of the seized technology on display. To prevent reprisal, the faces of the Qukala shown are blurred."

The seizure comes at a time when attempted scrapper incursions into the Exclusion Zone are increasing in frequency; with phoron rationing in place, there are more opportunities for fortune-seeking individuals to make their way to the Tri-Qyu system as resources have been diverted to protect trading and travel routes. The speculated economic downturn as a result of limited Bluespace Gate use has been noted by experts to be one of the major contributing factors for Skrell turning to crime, with Scrappers only being one of many criminal groups which have seen a rise in membership. Advisor Ormish Jrolk posted the following on Viv-ID:

Quote

“I’m proud to see the Kala at work protecting what should be considered a historical marker by our people, and that we have taken steps to crack down on those that wish to pick at the remains of the Tyrant like carrion. Let this be a warning to the criminal element in our society and a reminder that the Federation is firm in its commitment to the prevention and punishment of crime.”

Jrolk then later posted a clip from an interview they had earlier on in the month on Low Tide: Qerrbalak, where they discussed the phoron scarcity and its role in the rise of criminal activity in the Federation. (See The Enquirer’s article titled ‘Ormish Jrolk on The Phoron Crisis’ for the full interview).

Twelve Skrell and one Diona were arrested in relation to the seizure, and eight of the offenders are expected to serve a minimum of ten years in prison for illegal scavenging in proximity to the Tri-Qyu Exclusion Zone. The other five offenders have been charged with entering the Exclusion Zone proper and if found guilty, will be given the mandatory sentence of life in cryosleep with the chance of parole. Because of the potential that these offenders were inside the Exclusion Zone in search of AI-related technology, the Federation has stated that they could possibly be labelled as sympathisers during their trial.

“Absolutely Disgraceful”: Illegal Imports Found as Marauder Piracy Continues

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Marauder activity has continued to plague the Traverse as the phoron crisis impacts the nation, and is now showing signs of spreading further into the core of the Federation as State officials report smuggled goods entering the inner systems.

Nlomkala on Aweiji have spoken to news outlets yesterday regarding a shipment of agricultural machinery and seeds found inside a warehouse on the planet’s Orbital Spaceport XY-558. The shipment was undeclared, with no markings or any official paperwork, giving authorities little to follow. The Nlomkala are working under the assumption that the cargo was stolen by Marauders in the Traverse, and smuggled to Aweiji for sale to facilities that are failing to meet their assigned quotas. This discovery comes at a time when trade disruptions are causing delays at most production centres, with Aweiji only being one of many planets that are struggling to keep up with their quota.

Quote

“Absolutely disgraceful. We Aweijiin are proud to be part of the Federation, and I refuse to believe that one of us would be willing to buy anything from those Marauders… When the Kala told me what I found, I felt ill. I never wanted to be involved in this.” - Distraught Spaceport worker Arqox Lui’aq was one of the workers who discovered the illegal shipment.

As trade lanes are attacked with increasing frequency, the Qukala have prioritised defensive measures, consolidating their patrol fleets and putting a halt to search and destroy missions against suspected Marauder bases of operation. As the Marauders are a decentralised force, it is believed that offensive strategies are not considered effective enough to continue when considering the amount of phoron consumed. Instead, the Qukala will be reprioritising efforts towards ensuring vital goods can still be transported throughout the Federation.

A particular focus is being made on defending phoron transports, with the Qukala increasing their presence in systems where key phoron depots are located. While Marauder groups have made attempts to raid these facilities, they have had no success in stealing phoron. Officials say that the majority of phoron lost to the Marauders has been due to attacks on shipments bound for the inner systems, rather than direct raids on storage facilities. Despite the Marauders’ failure to raid these depots, Xomor is still aiming to increase its security presence at these facilities as it works in conjunction with the Qukala to ensure phoron stockpiles are secure.

While there is no comment from the Grand Council regarding these events, Advisor Ormish Jrolk has been seen meeting with representatives of the State-owned Enterprises in Kal’lo, as well as representatives from Einstein Engines. A general statement was given reminding citizens to not associate with known members of the Marauders or the Lyukal, and to report suspicious activity to their nearest Kala officer.

Depot Explodes as Marauders Attempt Phoron Raid!

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

A phoron depot in the Median Naval District exploded in a failed attempt by the Ti’Rakqi to pillage its stores of phoron early this morning. As per procedures regarding emergencies, the majority of staff within the depot were evacuated. The only Skrell on-site during the explosion were Xomor security specialists, raiders, and four essential staff attempting to seal the phoron away before evacuating themselves.

Casualties of the explosion were minimal, with two of the Marauders declared dead and the rest along with eighteen site staff suffering from varying degrees of injury. Two Xomor security contractors and one Ti’Rakqi raider are in critical condition and are being cared for within a temporary medical facility until they are stable enough for transport. Official estimates place a third of the phoron stored within the facility as being destroyed, with the rest inaccessible while firefighters are still working to put out the fire caused by the explosion.

A timeline of the events has been provided by facility personnel, and verified using camera footage that could be salvaged from the depot’s security station:

At 01:28 AM a group of five armed Skrell, wearing what appear to be retrofitted industrial RIG suits, enter the facility during a gap in the perimeter patrol. By 01:40, the group manages to enter the main storage wing of the facility, and as they turn a corner, are discovered by a worker who immediately rushes to raise the alarm. Several shots from an energy-based weapon can be seen as the Marauder group targets something off-camera, but no death or injury by gunshot has been confirmed. The group takes defensive positions as one of them appears to hack one of the phoron storage units.

At 01:49 a siege begins while site security engages with the raiders. By now the hacker has reached inside the storage unit and is now off-camera for the rest of the recording. While there was no audio, one of the security staff that was present explained that the group claimed to have a hostage out of sight, and the security team was ordered to stall the raiders until a full count of site staff could be made.

The footage ends at 02:15 AM just as the two groups begin to fire at each other. From statements received by facility staff, one of the raiders raised their firearm and was shot in response, resulting in a firefight breaking out. Xomor security slowly withdrew as they attempted to guide the raiders away from the stored phoron, when the open storage unit abruptly exploded. Investigators are still trying to determine what exactly caused the explosion; due to the angles provided by security cameras, the storage unit in question was never fully in frame, but based on testimony from site security it is assumed that the explosion was caused by the Marauder who entered the storage unit mishandling a volatile phoron canister.

Thankfully, site safety measures and both groups having fully-enclosed RIG suits ensured that no one was directly exposed to phoron, with the only injuries being caused by the explosion. The only confirmed deaths are the hacker who entered the storage unit, and the Marauder who raised their firearm and was shot by site security. The Ti’Rakqi who were medically discharged are now being questioned in an undisclosed location by Government authorities. With a large amount of phoron either lost or inaccessible, combined with the current shortage the Spur is facing, the raiders are expected to receive the harshest punishment the Federation can legally provide.

Marauder Collaborators Revealed, Q’elpi Systems Locked Down

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The Federation has enacted a full travel ban for systems within the Q’elpi region of the Traverse, following recent discoveries related to the recent phoron depot explosion.

The Ti’Rakqi members captured following the depot’s destruction (See: "Depot Explodes as Marauders Attempt Phoron Raid!" for details) have provided the Federation with information regarding collaborating Traverse government officials, as well as revealing a plot by these officials to skim incoming phoron transports intended for military installations and other inner system facilities.

Around a dozen systems in the Q’elpi sector have been identified as supporters of the Marauders, exchanging safe harbour for protection and raw materials the Marauder fleets smuggle in from their raids. There is also evidence that these systems have provided stolen phoron from shipments intended for the inner systems, giving them to the Marauders as part of their dealings.

Grand Councillor Jrugl gave this statement earlier today regarding the announcement:

Quote

“It is to my displeasure that we have to announce a complete ban on travel to and from a handful of systems within the Traverse - more specifically, those within the Q’elpi region. The Qukala will be transitioning back to offensive strategies rather than be on the defensive, and we will be making moves to crack down on the Marauder activity within these systems. The revelation that these local governments have been collaborating with the Marauders for Stars know how long is troubling, both to me and the rest of the Council. I assure you, the citizens of the Federation, that we will finally put an end to the Ti’Rakqi, and the Traverse will finally be safe from pirates, smugglers, and those who associate with them.”

The Qukala are being deployed to the offending systems, and will be working alongside local Nlomkala officers to arrest and detain known collaborators. It is expected that the Marauders will have already fled these affiliated systems before authorities arrive, but the Qukala have stated their intent to immediately attack any unknown vessel found travelling within the systems affected by the travel ban. An official Qukala statement explains this policy further:

Quote

“Any vessel found travelling within the systems affected by the Federation’s travel ban will be considered Marauder or Marauder-affiliated vessels, and will be dealt with accordingly. Citizens are expected to cooperate with the Kala during this time to ensure that the travel mandate is lifted in a timely manner.”

Martial Law Declared as Systems Resist Collaborator Arrests

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

The arrests of known Marauder collaborators (see “Marauder Collaborators Revealed, Q’elpi Systems Locked Down”) within the Q’elpi region have stalled as local dissidents resist the Federation’s efforts to crack down on corruption. Citing grievances regarding the alleged lack of support from or presence of the Federation in the region, the systems identified as collaborating with Marauder fleets are rejecting Federation authority completely. It has also been reported that some groups within these systems are actively protecting government officials - those who are suspected of enlisting the help of the Marauders in stealing phoron and other supplies intended for the inner systems.

The Federation has issued a statement urging civilians in these systems to cooperate with the Kala while they arrest the collaborators, and warning citizens of the punishment for assisting known subversive groups.

While martial law is in effect in these systems, now named the “Marauder Systems” by citizens on Viv-ID, the travel ban is expected to continue. In addition to the travel ban, extranet access has been severely limited to prevent efforts by civilians in the region to organise, and there are even rumours of Sromkala deployment to prevent the use of the Srom for dissident activity. The administrative authority of the systems has also been given to the Qukala due to most in the civilian Government being classed as fugitives by Federation authorities. A representative of the Federation gave a brief statement following the announcement:

Quote

“We do not intend to use the Qukala longer than required to ensure stability in these systems, and we aim to reestablish a civilian Government in the region as soon as it is possible.”

Members of the Grand Council were not available for comment on the developing situation, citing “economic developments with Einstein Engines and State-owned Enterprises” requiring their full attention. It is believed that these developments refer to a possible solution to the phoron crisis and the Spur’s dwindling phoron stockpile. Advisor Jrolk gave a brief comment that “[they] trust in the ability of the Qukala to quickly resolve the situation in the Q’elpi region.”

Zi’Pluax Flees Q’elpi Space!

Translated to Tau Ceti Basic

Zi’Pluax, the nomadic Generation ship discovered in 2460, has been declared missing following the lockdown of several systems in the Q’elpi region of the Traverse.

The Zi’Pluax was declared missing while inside one of the systems currently under martial law in the Q’elpi region. Due to the Qukala being tasked with keeping law and order in these systems, no attempt has been made to find the fleet. Although there was no indication before, it is now believed that the fleet may have some connection to the Marauders in the region, and are now fleeing to evade arrest.

The Federation reaffirmed its views on the Fleet of the Srom on Viv-ID, in a message urging members currently away from the fleet to come forward with any information they might have:

Quote

“The Zi’Pluax and its inhabitants are still considered citizens of the Nralakk Federation and are as subject to its laws as any other citizen. We encourage any members to come forward with information regarding its motives and destination.”

The Zi’Pluax is notable for it declaring independence after contact was re-established in 2460, but still interacting with the Federation due to the requirement of culture exchange, a policy that is used by the ship to encourage new Skrell to sign up to join the fleet. Known members of the Zi’Pluax have shown shock at the sudden disappearance of the ship, and so far none have come forward with an explanation for this sudden event.

In related news, progress has been slow in arresting the collaborators within the Q’elpi systems, with the Qukala currently focusing on dissidents who are actively resisting Kala operations. The Qukala have stated their intention to question any known Marauder collaborators for information concerning the Zi’Pluax.
