Arrow768 Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Let me correct my statement. As it stands security has more than enough means to deal with every situation that a corporate security force is expected to deal with on a daily base.(Extended Rounds - Which is mall cop stuff: Small fights, theft and so on) In those rare cases, that the security force has to deal with bigger stuff, there is the armory and a warden that can hand out various weapons. They are not a heavily armed SWAT team or military unit that gets called to a combat area every day.
Dreamix Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 They are not a heavily armed SWAT team or military unit that gets called to a combat area every day. Let's just imagine that Aurora's security is sort of indirectly equipped with a fuckton of Icarus's combat drones. Buuuuut, I agree that pistols filled with lethal ammunition would help to filter the bad officers that don't do proper escalation of force from the rest (BWOINK). It also looks cool, I guess. Buuuuut, that would also mean that the more robust security officers may validhunt much easier. I'm confused.
Guest Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 We must also remember that Aurora has been attacked by pirates before canonically.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 The constant strawman comparison to how aurorasec is more akin to mallcops is tired, boring, nihilistic and, oh, right; boring. antag hugbox please go ??? "the rejection of all religious and moral principles, often in the belief that life is meaningless." ??????????????? Also citing IRL examples is troublesome because this is a science fiction setting. We have stun weapons, which are capable of dropping anyone not in a hard suit. I've already said how it's hilariously bewildering to have sec run around with lethal weapons when they have non-lethal weapons that are literally just fine. If you get attacked by pirates you break open the armory. And we have to look at it from a gameplay fairness perspective. Aurora is already extremely heavily slated against antagonists and security is given huge boons to the point that once code blue hits security is pretty much a collective captain. Giving them more lethals is not the way to go about it, especially considering how many extra-judicial executions we end up with already, and how many officers run around with LWAP's or lethal laser cannons already.
Guest Menown Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Personally, I liked the idea of scrapping the MK58 and switching to energy pistols. Get rid of the taser too. Hell, just have the energy pistol fufill the duty of both taser/possible lethal weaponry. As it is, rubber bullets can function as lethal weapons, so it's not like it's a huge change. Not to mention having the pistol use the same charge for both lethal/non-lethal is a sort of trade-off for those that say it's an advantage to have both in one. I see removing the MK58 and taser in place for energy pistols to be a neat idea.
Nanako Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I agree here, i think firearms should be loaded with lethal ammunition by default. You shouldn't be opening the armoury unless you're prepared to kill, generally. If lethal force is not required, then use your tasers and stunbatons Rubber bullets are still a good idea to have as an option, but not as an expectation.

The rubber-bullet loaded sidearms people are referring to aren't in the secure armory that contains lethal weaponry; They're part of the standard equipment armory.
Guest Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 OK. Let me explain Bay's mapped armory real fast. Behind the warden's office is not an armory tac closet restricted to only the warden. In fact, any of the officers can walk in and grab whatever as it is standard equipment. This means no wait time for a bomb suit or a biosuit, or for gas masks to go out. A few to several pistols and heavy kevlar vests may spawn in the cabinets, too. That is the Basic Armory. Behind the Basic Armory is a room secured by blast shutters that may be opened by the warden or the HoS or captain in emergencies. The biggest room is primarily nonlethal weaponry (with the exception of the ion gun and the bulldog/laser carbines that rarely/uncommonly spawn). Stun revolvers, e-guns, SABERs loaded with rubber bullets, et cetera. An ammo closet is located here as well, but it is primarily if not predominately nonlethal ammunition. The room behind that is Tactical Equipment. This is where security immediately becomes GenSec and gears up in Payday 2 SWAT gear. In a reinforced glass closet lies a fuckton of lethal ammunition for several lethal weapons. Shotguns, pistols, SMGs, etc. Clarified? Clarified.
