Nanako Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 (edited) This is a really quick simple idea, that will probably take under a minute to implement, and that i don't think anyone will argue with. But i may be wrong, there's always that guy Anyways, exhibit A, Sinks Sinks only take up half the tile they're on, and they're marked as non-solid, allowing you to walk onto the tile. As you can see, this looks good, it allows your character to properly stand at the sink when using it to wash stuff. Exhibit B: Sleeper Consoles This is the closest i can get to the front of a sleeper console. The consoles are solid, they block their tile entirely. but the sprite still only takes up half the tile, and it seems to be a convention that you can walk on things that use half their tile. This makes sleepers a bit annoying to use, as in medbay you have to walk into a 2x1 alcove to put patients into them, which gets untenable in high traffic situations. Similarly it makes the shuttle mini-medbay a huge pain too, space there is even more restricted, people often get stuck in the spot between consoles. So my request is simple. Set the appropriate flag on sleeper consoles, so that you can walk onto their tile, and properly stand at them while operating them Edited March 27, 2016 by Guest

Probably some lazy oversight by the Baycoders or something. Anyway, we had this before, and there isn't much reason to not have it again, especially since the impassable tile tends to be incredibly obnoxious.

Works perfectly now, and is making medbay a little more fun This might be my first suggestion that actually got added, yay Please move this thread to... Projects i guess? Or is that only for ideas in progress? If projects isn't suitable, then just lock and archive the thread somewhere. Maybe make a subforum for completed/implemented suggestion threads to be moved into?

It seems i spoke too soon about it working well I'm seeing an issue quite often where the scanner bed and its console get their collision flipped - The bed becomes walkable, and the console becomes solid. It's not normally like this, but it seems to happen. Probably something related to grabbing and pulling people
