Guest Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Narrative: To basically render someone's headset entirely useless and prevent their usage of said headset. Could also be your own headset, in case it's illegally modified or something really compromising. How it would work: Take headset in hand, right click, "Crush headset." Takes 3 seconds, you throw down your headset and then stomp on it repeatedly until it's slagged. Switches the iconstate to a crushed headset or something, with no way to fix it. Stepping away before it completes produces the message, "X decides against vandalizing the radio headset with their foot." Destroys the headset keys inside it. 3 second period is in case someone changes their mind or suddenly gets tased in the middle of it or whatever so that people don't instantly cheese it. Inspired by a string of threads. Yes or no, and why? No other words.
Carver Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Being able to deny Security your headset as a group antag is something I'm completely in favour of considering how often they instinctively strip it first chance.
canon35 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Agreed. This seems like a decent mechanic for the reason that Carver already posted.
Prospekt Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Oh my god, why has no one thought of this before. Incredibly useful in nuclear rounds, damn security always stealin' my headset.
Demonofthefall Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I do remember seeing on one code that you could use wirecutters on a headset and take off the microphone part so they could still hear the radio but not talk into it. That might be a cool feature to add.
ZeBlooShadowVirus Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 As previously stated, it would be a service to group antags, as security does seem to 'powergame' for it as soon as they capture Heist or Nuke Ops (the latter not being relevant anymore as it was removed).
Kaed Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I'm behind this idea, but if you put a delay on the headset being destroyed that is that long, it will be nearly impossible to ever accomplish. By the time you realize you realize you need to crush your headset, you are probably already in serious trouble, and possibly stunned on the ground.

Kaed Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Bumping this thread because it's still an important idea.
Butterrobber202 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I could get on the bandwagon for this. I like it for the factor for cultist, if I'm going to rip someone's soul from their body, I'm going to destroy their headset first
Gollee Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Instant might be better. Three seconds is a lot of time in a collapsing firefight.
