Nanako Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 An odd question to be sure. The common answer you'd think, would be about 70. But if you asked someone that a couple millenia ago, the answer would be closer to 40. Technological advance has steadily increased human lifespans over time, and it is an accelerating thing. In aurora we have miracle medicines like cryoxadone and dexalin, and wierd bioglue that repairs organs. So, 452 years into the future, in aurora's time setting, how long does a human typically live, assuming they have access to all the wonders of modern medical technology? When we have miracle Have the standards of what is "young" and what is "elderly" changed? Quote
Dreviore Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I'd assume with advancements in cloning and cryostasis and genetic modification you could biologically be 40, but be a lot older then that. Take RIM world for example. You can biologically be 21, but actually be 500 years old. Quote
Lucychan42 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I'm absolutely positive its somewhere on the wiki. I saw it under some lore page and it detailed very specific ages for certain areas of colonization. If I can find it I'll post the link, but I encourage someone else to look if possible cause I'm at band practice and making this post during break x3 Edit: I swear I've seen it but I just can't find it. I know I saw it somewhere, it detailed that colonies in the outer rim of space had X life span, frontier were "born living in a hard suit" because it just sucked and things broke all the time. I know I read that somewhere and even checked Tajara lore and I didn't see it there. I dunno! I must be going crazy or mixing up lore from another setting or its hidden away somewhere I haven't re-found. Quote
Rusty Shackleford Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Humans in the year 2458 have an average lifespan of about 100 years within the core worlds region, and in the outer fringe worlds, their lifespans are comparable to what they are today. Very rich or affluent humans can invest in life-extending technology, allowing some to live up to 200 years. Quote
Mofo1995 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Humans cannot be 500 looking 21. They have extremely inferior medical technology to Skrell, who are way more advanced than them, and shorter natural lifespans too. The average skrell lives to 200, and with their medical tech can live to a maximum of 450. Rusty's post gives a more accurate picture of human lifespans. Quote

I meant biologically 21 due to technology like long term cryostasis. Quote

Owen Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I understand what you are talking about but, I do not believe that that is a thing in our lore's current technological level. Of course, there is a chance that I am wrong (happens) but as long as I have been here, I have not heard of that being a thing. Quote
Alberyk Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 From the wiki itself;; Inner Colonies: The average lifespan ranges from 90 - 120 years. Mid Colonies: The average lifespan here generally ranges from 90 - 100. Outer Colonies: The average lifespan here ranges from 80 - 100. Quote
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Just as alberyk says! But you'd probably retire at 80 - 90. If you give me a day or so I'll even clear up any additional questions with the lore team, like what happens if you upload your brain into a shell, and why you can't just keep cloning yourself. Quote
