Zundy Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Less (and I mean alot less) non canon antag rounds. More canon rounds with shit going on. If need be create a staff team who's sole purpose is to run events IG. Call them GM's maybe? Use those GM's to also create links between characters who may not already interact E.G. oh shit your dad's a widower Urist McSpess? Well he's now banging SenpaiMcDucks mom and he works on this station. Guess you're like brothers now huh? Fix all your problems fam(s). To my mind they'd have a Head GM who either fall jointly under the Lore Head and the Head DO to make sure everything is above board. Then the GMs would play out events as often as possible per week (preferable more often then non canon rounds). Quote

I know Admins already fill this role, but it would likely help remove strain from Admins and besides, it's one of the reasons people want to be admins in the first place. Quote

SierraKomodo Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I agree, Zundy. Post that in suggestions. I'm all for that idea. Quote

From talks I've had with Skull about it in the past, he's opposed to having dedicated event runners. That doesn't mean people can't put themselves up for doing events or canon things. Surprisingly all you need to do is talk to certain staff members (Skull/Admins (maybe)/Lore members) if you want to do canon events and they'll talk it out with you. Quote
XChrisUnknownX Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 (edited) It's been my issue for a long time, people don't really make or keep friendships continued through rounds so it has actually led to me getting bored and leaving for months and months and months. Thinking about rewriting Chris Blade and bringing him back, but the only way for people to create role play and some persistence is to have ongoing developing relationships with their fellow crew which people have been generally unwilling to do. *edit special exception to zundy. It was amazing every time the old Chris Blade and his laurenzi met because they were working on projects together after work storyline wise Edited July 7, 2016 by Guest Quote

You must have been having some bad luck, or are on during primetime greytide one-off character hour. All my characters have no issue with that kind of thing (Barring some of them being antisocial, but even those have a couple friends) Quote

You can't be a passing conversation unless it becomes a religions thing that you do every time you're both on station and then it gets absorbed after several interactions. It works the same way in the real world. If I say hello to the same guy leaving my apartment every day because we leave at the same time, eventually I'll ask his name and address him by it when I see him. Quote
TrickingTrapster Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Hoooo boy. This feels like old youtube - Press more on a comment section and go on an adventure. Seriously, though. I only play SS13 on 2 servers, including Aurora, and even then the second one is only to do things that aren't allowed on Aurora. And when I play on Aurora, characters I play often (characters like Yumi Yotin, Albert Gizro and from the old map, Chantal Faers) very quickly develop relationships with characters they see often. I remember Chantal actually becoming quite trusted with a regular HoS and was frequently given officer gear despite being a cadet for quite a while... Even though, as player, I'm very unrobust (A.K.A. I suck at combat.). Gizro has built up a big enough reputation that some medical staff actually sigh in relief when he arrives. Case in point, try to play several rounds in a row as the same character, and find the characters you interacted with the round before. That will get some relationships going pretty fast. On to another issue I've seen in here. Something about cloning. I don't think it's very unreasonable, especially for medical staff, to assume they have been cloned after they find themselves outside the cryotubes in medbay with no recollection of how they got there. Especially since they are trained to know the symptoms, and can conclude having them themselves. Whether they are traumatized by it or not heavily depends on the character in my opinion; A grizzled old veteran, for example, won't question it and move on, while a 17 year old intern will probably panic and go apeshit over the fact they died in the first place. About the main point of the post, well... I only play on 2 servers, but the crap that happens on the other server, well. Let's just say Aurora can still hold itself in pretty high regard when compared to other servers. Though yeah, I must admit I had more fun on the server when I just started, but that could also be me getting used to the regular happenings on the server and not be amazed by it anymore. Quote
