Guest Marlon Phoenix
I often seek feedback on characters (in OOC or on Skype chats) to see how other people like/perceive the characters I make. But often I don't get much, and don't realize the full opinions people have on X character until I see a passing reference in a complaint thread or some other medium. So why not have a thread where we can discuss ours/other's characters, and what we think of them? (Constructive criticism, of course.) I'm most curious about Houssam and Buthaynah Jawdat; both in how people think Houssam is and what they think of Buthaynah's aggressive personality. The latter has gotten praise and scorn, so... halp Quote Link to comment
Farcry11
I just have one thing to say about those kitty cats: I'm gonna make a Humanity First character and American History X the fuck out of them. "BITE THE TABLE. BITE THE FUCKING TABLE." (But yeah, aside from that threat which I fully intend to carry out: they're pretty okay) Quote Link to comment
Baka
Your tajarans are interesting in the fact that they are becoming a bit of a mafia, and I find it amusing and kind of an endearing trait that corruption is happening in higher ranks. I'll put Samantha up on the chopping block. I need feedback. I already had her developed in speech therapy where she's not too wild with her impediment anymore. Some people want me to take the genetic route and I think that kind of cheapens the experience of someone who really wants to improve on themselves and the firm belief of "are you still the same person if your genetic markup is altered in any way." Since genetics is still wonky in that sense. Quote Link to comment

Not everyone is going to want to use genetics or science to fix all their problems. Quote Link to comment
Jakers457
I like the character's you've made, BootyYahYah is still a bitch though. I'll offer my characters too. If allowed, Micheal Forte, Peter Stone, Miko Du'Razhu and Revvy Black. (The other characters aren't as known so I'll leave them out.) Quote Link to comment
Guest
I'd like to know, is Homer's Turtle praising up to snuff? How could he be better at praising the Turtle? Quote Link to comment
Hartburry
People probably won't recognize him as much as I'd like but feedback on my main character, Eddie Clark, I play him normally as a QM or a HoP but I played him once as a Captain (and I got a rev round first time ughhh). Tenenza
Re: Cats The Jawdats are Mafia, and that's cool, but I'm not a fan of your Securikitty because they're a part of Security that needs to take sensatively courses. Re: Sam Mason Good at keeping bald chemists down and oppressed. Oh, and the way her speech impediment is getting better is nice character development. Re: Jakers Eh, I haven't seen enough of those particular characters. But James Brook hasn't done anything insane yet, like blow up the derelict, which is good, but hasn't done anything insanely awesome yet, like create a dual-singularity implosion accelerator to blow up the derelict, which is bad. Re: Homer Homer needs to like, slow down about that turtle. Slow and steady wins the race after all. I mean, I don't want to be seeing you belly up in a desert unable to flip yourself back, if Yertle catch my drift. I mean, it'd be a turtle-y difficult moral puzzle. Re: Eddie Clark Well, you should use the posting boards to store paperwork as an HoP or QM. All the cool HoPs are doing it. And I'm like, 45% sure that's just me and Jackboot, and 25% sure I was doing it before he was, so that makes me the coolest HoP. I think. Or that could be Echo, but Vampires don't count, since they don't have real blood. Quote Link to comment
Tainavaa
I'd like to know, is Homer's Turtle praising up to snuff? How could he be better at praising the Turtle? I haven't seen him in a long time. Loving the turtle praise, though. Especially the mythology behind the turtle. Especially the third layer of reality. Bricks. Quote Link to comment
Conspire2Ignite
Let's see... Kitties: I like Houssam. On the surface, a rather upstanding member of society. Underneath, he's now a mafia man. A real two-facer, that one and somehow you know you have to be on his good side. I haven't had any interaction with Buthaynah, so I can't say. Samantha: I wasn't around when Sam first started, but even in the time I have been with Aurora I've seen changes. I like how she sticks to her guns and keeps to her principals, regardless of what others say. Life can't always be about taking the easy road. Sometimes you have to work to better yourself. Even in the future. I hope. Turtleman: I am going to smack him upside the head. No, I am going to make a violent character and THEN smack him upside the head so I won't be angry at myself for not keeping it IC. Best stick to Diona, because this station needs more plants. Eddie: I recall Eddie, I think. Once or twice. Gosh, I wish I could remember. I feel bad. So bad. Maybe get him out there more? Out in the world? Hanging out in medbay for a short rest or getting a drink at the bar. We might cross paths. And for myself... Kay Lee. You may discuss what you like. Quote Link to comment

You think I'm gonna shell out praise because you made some puns? No, a few stupid jokes won't tip the scales. You may think I'm slow, but just because Homer prefers the Turtle over his hare doesn't mean you can get away with this kind of stuff. So why don't you Galapa-go to hell. I'll Sea you there. Covert0ddity
I'll jump on the bandwagon. Houssam: A very interesting character to say the least. While I've only seen his good side, I'm sure he has that 'mafia esque' real evil to him. I quite like him as a character and to rp with, so keep him up how he is. Although I will say that, although he is not implanted, the favoritism is very visible. Not a problem as favoritism happens in workplaces, so it's a non-issue to my eyes. If he was hos or IAA I might have a problem, but he's not. Buthaynah: No real interaction. Headstrong, arrogant, sort of a rulebreaker and do what I say kind. I like the overall character. Samantha: Really great character. Funny, awesome to interact with and knows what she's about. I don't really know how to give compliments, so I'll say I have no problems with her and I love whenever I do play Vince the funny or emotional things that can happen. Turtleguy: I like pushing him out of his wheelchair and watching him crawl on the floor like a little worm. My main characters are Isilithai Uaekis and Vincent Capriello. If you've interacted with any of my others, hell, even event characters, go ahead ans provide feedback. Quote Link to comment
Tenenza
Re: Covert. Uaekis is a dick lizard, who is a massive dick. Seriously. 80-90% Phallus to body mass ratio right there. But he's chiller then Security Dick lizards Green and Red, but only just a little bit over Green, mostly over Red. You need to get more Security Lizards, so you can complete the power rangers theme. But yes, other than being an angry lizard who needs sensativey classes, he's cool. Vince is also cool, and on the, I'm willing to build stuff in space with list. Oh, and, um, if anyone wants to bitch about any of my characters, feel free. Quote Link to comment

And hey I'll jump in. Crystal's been lacking direction lately, I'd be interest to see what people think of her in particular, but also Nehma, Nazih, and Stephanos Quote Link to comment
incognitojesus
Ooo, let's butcher Senri Ishikawa, Damian & Leo Del Prado. Gogogogo. Quote Link to comment
Gollee
I'll throw in my characters, particularily Inis, Amy and Whisper, as they are the ones I am playing the most at the moment. @Covert Personally, I have a dislike of Uaekis, but then again, I have only seen him occasionally. He seems like he prefers to bully crewmembers than protect them. Quote Link to comment
Tainavaa
Crystal's been lacking direction lately, I'd be interest to see what people think of her in particular, but also Nehma, Nazih, and Stephanos I like Crystal in particular because of her various imperfections. I don't look at imperfections as bad things in characters; they make them fun but her insecurities make her unfit for being CMO; as a chemist not so much. Can't say anything about the others because of a lack of experience. I'm interested in what others have to say about Tina Kaekel, Anna Lee, and TruLem synthetics in general. Quote Link to comment

Baka
Miko Du'Razhu – I have good relations with Miko, they seem like an interesting tajaran to talk to. Not a lot of interactions I had with them. Eddie Clark – Another character I haven’t had a lot of interactions with. :< Homer – What in the heck is “The Turtle” anyhow? Sorry for calling you Professor X. Kay Lee – I always like to read out your flavour text dramatically. The only few times I interacted with your character was when you worked as a librarian. Also, the ellipse drove me crazy at first, but I gotten used to it. Isilithai Uaekis – To be completely honest, I don’t really know how to feel about Uaekis. He seemingly is pretty surly, gets defensive at the slightest hiccups, and I really don’t know him that well because I hardly ever play security. He does get things done when it’s crunch time. So yeah. Vincent Capriello – One of the more interesting CEs, really, and partner to Samantha. The sheer fact that they can’t speak Tau Ceti Common that clearly is kind of endearing. Perhaps we need to play them more when they are not antags, too, to see more development at work where they’re going. Also, Samantha is going to beat in his head what the word decorum is. Crystal Brookes – An alright character, decent CMO, I don’t play much when you’re on Shake. D: Senri Ishikawa, Damian & Leo Del Prado – Senri has been away for so long, I forgot his face. Also RIP Leo. Whisper Unity – Hum. Well, the spaces between her words make me notice her. Are you going for the GMan approach with that? Tina Kaekel – Cultist. I dunno what the hell was going on at the end a few weeks ago with Medical. An alright character. Robert Dalton – mai hos husbando. <3 Quote Link to comment

Farcry11
Tear in to Leonin Smythe. Go go go. P.S: Senri is still the hottest man on the station. Always and forever. Quote Link to comment
Frances
Generally, if your character is getting criticized (and that criticism isn't coming from Sue), it means you're doing a good thing. People seem to be opposing Houssam Jawdat and Isilithai Oekaki(whatever) some, with the point of "they're assholes/not nice to people/evil space hitlers". Which, like, is nice. I get that characters who are kind to everyone get well-received (and not batshit insane, as a lot of chars end up falling in the latter category, being selectively nice to a few regulars and absolutely stupid towards anyone else), but characters who are mean, or tough, or questionable, are /not/ a bad thing. In fact, they're excellent. I don't know Covert and Jackboot that well, but I can say for a fact that these respective characters are vastly different from their own personalities - much more so than any other character I've seen them play before (but I might've missed a few). They both stepped out of a comfort zone set by familiarity to create something unique and different. And they did a good job. These characters are interesting, believable, and dynamic. I enjoy seeing them around (Giurifiglio is another, though he's also the closest we'll probably get to seeing a space nazi) and they bring something new to the rounds they're in. firstact
I'd actually like some feedback on D'Jar Sa'Kuate, since i kind of just threw him into the game and roleplayed with no set personality/background. Any feedback is always appreciated Quote Link to comment
Lady_of_Ravens
I don't get a lot of one-on-one RP with people as EmPrESS, but I do generally see the big picture, so here's what I've noticed. Turtle Guy: Do you worship the Great Artuan? 'Cause that's kinda cool. And I always appreciate a religion that's easy to laugh at (most are), and chaplains who get pushed out of their wheelchair just makes it funnier. OOC anyway, EmPrESS's sense of humor is more like, "this statement is false". Dicklizard: Yeah, Uaekis deserves the title. Which isn't to say he's a bad character, but he does seem to escalate any situation he's involved in. And that's not efficient for station security. Jawdat Mafia: To be honest, I haven't noticed them that much. And since I usually notice miscreants, that means they're being discrete about their mafiaism. So, yay there. Vincent Capriello: A competent engineer, and you've got to love those. No real problems come to mind. Samantha Mason: Competent, and the speach impediment is kinda cute (so long as everyone doesn't start doing it). I'd love to hear what people think about EmPrESS. Or any of my other characters, if you can remember them. Quote Link to comment
Guest
I remember, as a captain, when Daniella Baranova sent me a psychological evaluation of a certain AI that was concerned about the nature and health of the stuffed toy monkey. Dear god, I don't remember laughing/crying so hard in my life. It was beautiful. I'm pretty sure that was Empress. My favorite characters would have to be Phoebe Essel: because she doesn't give a fuck, Lockie Green: because she's so weird yet hilarious, Imraj Brar: because who doesn't love the grumpy old Scrooge this time of year?... and lastly, I'd say Samantha Mason. She always finds a way to make me crack the fuck up. One instance in particular is when a very blatantly obvious bald griefing chemist told Mason they were making tea. To paraphrase what she said in common comms, "Potassium, Uranium and Water in Tea, huh? WHY I OUGHTA... COME BACK HERE!" Quote Link to comment
