Player Byond Key: JimmyTombstone, BRAINOS Staff involved: N/A Reason for complaint: An image was posted on reddit earlier this morning. . The presence of this image was spoken about in staffchat but evidently it was never adminhelped. Reprehensible as it looks, I've little interest in turning this into a personal crusade just because it hurts my moral and ethical sensibilities to see this, even when it is plastered on reddit where it poorly represents our community in a bad light. I'll put this objectively and simply: IC sexual harassment to this crude of a scale does not make for good roleplay, nor is it remotely appropriate on our server. We have a rule outright banning ERP due to the presence of minors that play this game, and the fact that allowing such things creates issues that no one is either ready to deal with on a regular basis nor wants to be ready to deal with on a regular basis. This is not about safety of the community, or whatever, this is about ensuring the server remains fun without having edge cases where people let loose their potty mouth to be crude and intentionally offensive in-character. I am aware these two characters were arrested for it, but this sort of conduct in IC is seriously disgusting and toxic. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? No, but apparently an issue like this was neither caught out by a staff member nor reported despite it toeing way too far over the line. Approximate Date/Time: Early morning 22-Jul-2017, most likely.

BRAINOS Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 BRAINOS / Preston Prestoff here. A few things: 1. I agree that this got way out of hand. I did pull Tombstone aside and even tried to ICly tell him how saying stuff quite that far over the line is not okay. I know Preston threw in the corny one-liner about the cuffs, and that's about as far as I ever let him go, mostly just trying to get facepalms or reactions like that. 2. Looking back on it, I'm definitely guilty of some seriously enabling behavior when it comes to a few things: - 2a: I should've probably ahelped or something as soon as Tombstone said the "nude holodeck" thing. - 2b: Instead of saying any more than "Woah, man," I just kinda stood there and emoted chuckling or snickering. - 2c: Trying to show them an example of "how to say something stupid and get away with it" probably wasn't the best course of action. 3. Typically I hold myself to a way higher standard than this, and even participating in a shit-show like that definitely wasn't the best course of action. Prestoff wasn't arrested for anything that happened there, and it was definitely Tombstone who was saying these things. However, I definitely can see how just because I didn't throw in a line about a ballsack doesn't get me off the hook - I feel like in a way I definitely encouraged that behavior when I should've been putting a foot down or at least getting the hell outta there. 4. I am tremendously sorry that I did encourage that behavior out of Tombstone and threw in my two cents with no regard to the server's reputation or the comfort of anyone involved. This server is, by far, the favorite one I've been on and I've certainly invested a lot of time here. I haven't found any other place with such a pleasant community or staff, and I do feel terrible that the screenshot there is all some people will see in regards to how Tombstone or I represent players on this server. 5. In the past, I've seen the admins and staff here exercise very fair judgement and issue very understandable punishments. I won't argue with their decision in regards to this. If there is anything I can do to assist in the resolution of this complaint, please contact me and let me know.

Coalf Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 I believe the player/s should be punished or atleast given a warning for the shitty meymey phrase yes, BUT I don't believe they should be punished for the count of sexual harassment as it was an IC issue that was solved ICly. I don't find any issue in sexual harrassment in-game as long as it is done well and tastefully, using demeaning insults can lead to interesting character plot -points and it serves very well in provoking characters to do things they wouldn't do normally. Again, well and tastefully, the above was neither.

As far as the ic interation went, i have no grudge against either of them and as far as im concerned this should just stay in ic, however its up to the admins wether you really deserve punishment. It should also be noted that jimmy did apologize to mandy in ic. There is one problem though, that this image was posted on reddit. I dont know if it was either of you, as i dont go on reddit, but this is really disgusting behaviour to post something like this out in the open. And as those people who have posted before me have said, it does not hold the server in a good light.

I'd like to start this off by saying that above all else I apologize and in no way, shape, or form am I trying to repent what I did because I understand fully what I did. 1. I've been playing on Aurora for about a month or two. I'm not real associated with how the server completely works yet but I am getting a better understanding the more that I play. This, along with many other things, I believe, is why I said what I said. I'm not to familiar with how far it would go and I didn't fully understand that this would be posted on Reddit and would have been spoken of among the admins, Not that it makes a difference, I sincerely apologize above all else. I know what I did was wrong. 2. It was 3:30 AM, me and Preston were about to fight in the boxing ring a bit after this. I was acting stupidly and not normally how I play Jimmy. Jimmy is usually a hardass, NOTHING like he was being played that night. I don't know if it was because I hadn't slept in a while or what, but I wasn't on my peak of roleplaying. I contribute that to the fact that I have never played a heavy roleplay SS13 server before Aurora. It was always crude remarks and cancer on the other servers. I think what happened when I was up that late is that I thought I could talk the way I wanted and push the roleplay aspect aside, however I was wrong at that moment. I'd also like to mention that as Preston said, he seemed to talk about it like it was fine or that he incited me to do it. I will say that he didn't specifically incite me to do it, he just kind of gave my brain at that time the effect of "Oh if he can talk like that, so can I." However I crossed the line, and I understand that. 3. I will say though that no admins were contacted at the time of this incident. Which gives me the urge to say that if it was not posted on Reddit and publicized, you guys would've never cared and left it an IC issue. I mean that with all respect when I say it. 4. I apologize wholeheartedly, I really do. I've made a mistake and I don't aim to cause a grief issue on this server. I realize that sexual advances and ERP are not allowed on your server, I fully understand that. I will restate that I was arrested for this issue as well. I would also like to say that playing on this server has been a joy, and I've never had a bad time with it. That being said it's not meant to kiss any asses here. I just sincerely enjoy the server. It feels like this is how SS13 is meant to be played. I understand people like me tarnish the good looks of the server when I do things like this, but as I said I was not acting clearly and I apologize wholeheartedly.

After discussing it with administration and seeing all your replies here, I am going to be labelling this complaint as an IC issue. With that said, these comments, in their sexual nature, are borderline. Please take care to make sure that any IC harassment is done tastefully. Additionally, in regards to this being posted on reddit, action will not be taken against people who post content relating to the server, that falls within the server rules, on reddit. I'll leave this complaint open for 24 hours for any closing comments.
