Azande Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Hi. The Head of Security gets a golden badge, that badge is labelled the 'Commander's Badge' and identifies the head of security as the commander, of security. Quote

ClearThoughts Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Loh has offered solutions. /mob/living/carbon/human/say(things) . = ..() if (findtext(things, "commander")) gib() If we want to discriminate: /mob/living/carbon/human/say(things) . = ..() if (findtext(things, "commander") && (job in list("Security Officer", "Detective", "Warden"))) gib() *laughter* Quote
DrHobo Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Yeah I call my HoD chief regardless and the captain heid chief or chief gadgie. I use boss or their last name or any title like director, professor, doctor. I totally think a security commander in a corporation doesn't sound very PC for a corporation. As Schev said it ain't a military but it also isn't really a police force unless there's been a full blown cryptofascist Corporate Sovereignty Act been enacted otherwise they're just office security guards, space mall cops, station bouncers, all with like delusions of militaristic grandeur and have somehow missed out on sensitivity training day while they did the 4 week course. Again I agree with Schev that it sounds ridiculous calling HoS a commander instead of just boss, that's an extra 5 letters that ya gotta type and makes ya sound either sarcastic or a bit intense. Loh's solution is hilarous, kudos! Though I'm sure a little text to src would work as well, less work for the janitors as well. Nod ya sound like a troll and overall rude af, I'm nae even gonna do a point by point bullshit analysis and quote all your posts instead of putting it in a spoiler so ya gotta scroll a lot. Schev is right, use boss for that cool Metal Gear Solid soft-reference. Praise Schev, our forum commander. Quote
Pacmandevil Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 reasons to call them commander: they occasionally get really triggered and it's entertaining. Quote
Zundy Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Commander isn't just a military rank so lmao nice thread. Quote
Brutishcrab51 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I think it's a bit ridiculous that this is a discussion. If we wished to refer to a Head of Security by any title other than "Head of Security", wouldn't it technically be inaccurate? They aren't the Chief of Security. They aren't the Boss of Security. They aren't /called/ the Head of Department (Security). Their default name would, obviously, be "Head of Security". Because that's their job, or profession. Aside from that though, it's obvious that people will call a Head of Security whatever they wish. And that's okay. The Head of Security can be referred to however they wish - Aside from grandiose titles. Commander is acceptable, if they prefer it. Chief is alright. Boss is alright. Security Chief is fine. Leave it up to the personal preference of each Head of Security, or even a supervising Captain that doesn't like the title. Don't shoot a perfectly fine horse in the leg just because you didn't like its shoes. Quote
