[1 Dismissal] Make Clearer Regulations About Uniforms

There's been a rash lately in the server of people who run around in full body animal costumes, wear comedic masks, or do things like put on freaking prostitute dresses while working as a doctor. A common thread between this individuals is, when told to take off the costume , will either ignore you the moment you're out of sight, or become incredibly insubordinate and snippy with you, citing such things as 'there is no regulation stating I can't wear that'.

Normally, you would be able to deal with this by exerting your authority as their head or the captain by demoting them, but there also seems to be a rash of them running crying to the IAA and giving a highly colored story, who faxes centcomm with incomplete information and has the whole thing overturned. Perhaps if IAA conducted actual investigations rather than reflexively faxing CC about how head so and so is a big meaniepants, it would help too. But, only one suggestion per thread here. Some departments are also super cliquey and will actively fight against authority figures, feeling that 'their department just works' is more important than the chain of command.

It would be nice to have more clear standards about what people can and can't wear at work, and/or whether heads can order them to get back in uniform, so you can point at that and tell them to grow the fuck up or put on a grey jumpsuit when they whine or sass you.

Holy. shit. The amount of policy suggestions.

We're getting a little sick of some of the shitty conduct, skull D:

At least half of these threads are already implemented as a rule in one form or another and are thus useless. While they could benefit from a reminder and tighter enforcement for a bit, they're basically pointless outside of that.

I'll now leave this to the folks who deal with these things.

Well there's a minor paradox there, skull. If a rule is there and is not enforced, how are we supposed to know that we don't need to make a suggestion about it?

Easy!

  1. Read the rules yourself so you know what exists and what doesn't.
  2. Report violations of said rule as you see them.
  3. Report the staff handling your initial reports if they do not actually enforce said rules.

Well, I'll keep that in mind, but this thread is pretty IC related policy stuff.

Yeah stupidly I can see to find any regs or CCIA notices that tell people to wear appropriate uniform. Might be worth making a CCIA over. I'd report it IC as an incident report fam so IG CCIA can pick it up.

I've already got an incident report against my captain character for demoting a sassy engineer who wouldn't follow orders, so this is mostly in response to that (and other incident reports I'm seeing about similar matters), which presumably at some point I'll deal with during an IC CCIAA session.

I am 110% certain that by dealing with this IC, CCIA will make a notice on it.

I could probably just include a line on 'neglect of duty' and 'hooliganism' to describe being out of uniform in a really bizarre way. It'd be nice to combat the flowing wedding dresses worn by security officers without also getting the gardener wearing a tux dunked on.

As regular staff, you should report violations to the Captain or relevant HoD, or file an incident report if it's severe enough. As the captain or relevant HoD, you can order them to change. If they don't do it, you can easily have them demoted on the grounds of failure to follow an order (or neglect of duty, if their breach of uniform could believably put themselves or others at risk.) The only acceptable exceptions to uniform regulation are ones where the relevant HoD has approved of the change in uniform, (this shouldnt go overboard, though), visitors (who can pretty much wear anything within reason) and filthy tajarans, who can roll down their jumpsuits (but they must be wearing an undershirt, and they have to roll them back if their HoD tells them to.)

Clearly, it works differently, in actual practice. I'll just see where things stand after my CCIA appointment.
