Make Engineering Great Again!

Engineering is pretty stale right now, and no features for it are seemingly in the works. While medical, security and science, even civilian are all getting some love and attention, Engineering is left alone at a dinner reservation they saved for that one sadist that enjoys playing engineering more often than not by themselves.

We need to fix this. Any ideas how?

fix the other engine types at least? afaik there are antimatter and RUST engines that can be ordered but no one ever does because they're borked?

otherwise, I suggested an atmos update but it was deemed "wew lad too much"

The AME works fine, it's just boring as fuck and really expensive. R-UST does not exist in this codebase.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with engineering now, besides lack of imagination with engineers.

As an engineer the sky is the limit with what you can do and you are generally only restricted by your own knowledge/the approval of others. Example: Today I was basically alone with an apprentice in engineering. I decided the IT Department needed something in it. I filled out the proper paperwork then went to work getting supplies and involving others not just from engineering but the station. (Mostly just mining). It was a near 2 hour process, pics are posted in the "Recently in Engineering".

I also dont really see a need to change anything with engineering.

They have the option to do almost anything.

Just talk to your superiors and I am sure that most of them will be more than happy to assist you with your projects.

I'd say let them create more stuff. Lightswitches, ladders, stairs, elevators, levers, buttons. All of that stuff is pretty basic (except for elevators) yet it allows for a much wider manuever when creating a new area or improving an existing one

Addendum: the ability to make windows that can be darkened!

I would be grateful if there was more furniture and cosmetic items able to be made,, also perhaps finally code in the circuits to making the ovens, microwaves, and other stuff so we can revamp the derelict kitchen and make our own fun.

With Atmos mostly optimized besides adding a few pumps here and there, and a bunch of other things, its left engineering a bit more bland, I feel like if we have some more toys to work with it'd be interesting again.
