Alberyk Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 There are really powerful things that anyone can get, such as a phazon, a wishgranter and a breacher chassis. Still those do exist even if they can break the game, because they are locked behind rather some insane rng, or it is something really hard and that will not happen everyround. Same applies to the most powerful secret chems.
Arrow768 Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Like, I don't see the point of adding secret chemicals to the game that cause this degree of gamebreaking behavior that will completely flip the game flow on its head as soon as someone figures it out. The requirements to make azoth are already very high. So the cases where a chemist can upset the round balance by actually making that chemical will be very rare. And then the requirements to make the elixir of life are even higher. So I doubt very much that this will ever pose a issue.
Korinra Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 As much as it pains me. I think it's probably better to make them have random components. It's fine to say, "These are secret compounds", but the wiki should mention them, but comment that the recipes change round to round. That way a scientist could TELL You what the chemical they discovered will do, but they will have to discover it.
Faris Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 I'll start with the tl;dr We're going to allude to the existence of such chemicals, but we are not going to reveal how you make them. Now for the more in-depth explanation. I'm personally fine with the secret chemicals. I'm assured none are easy to acquire and they only get harder/more time consuming as they grow in ability. We already have a number of hidden mechanics, things that aren't around so easily in terms of RNG and a number of others things we aren't going to fully elaborate on the wiki. Finding the chemical(s) is a experimenting venture that yields a reward. Now as above, I'm fine with making their existence known, though I'll need to decide how far we'll go with that but we're not going to include what you need to do to get them. Knowledge is power and I'm fine with characters having more knowledge as a result of them experimenting and spending their time to find it. Some characters are more proficient than the others and that's fine. Though I do understand your concern on how this could be maliciously done, so I'm fine with keeping a tighter lid on the recipes. Suggestion denied per team discussion.
