Loadout hearing-aid device

There's this device RnD can make, which allows the deaf to hear. I thought it'd be neat to add that to the loadout selection. Maybe have it function like an earpiece and be affected by EMPs and stuff. I dunno. Just spit-balling here.

I know there was one introduced into the game, as per Samantha Masons Custom Item App, though I don't know if it ever had any functionality. You say RnD can print these, but I've never seen them.

But regardless, yes. These would be a nice addition to the loadout selection, accessable to all.

RnD can't print them, we make them with circuitry. It is basically a device with a microphone that turns all it hears (it doesn't pick up what is said over speakers such as comms consoles even if right next to it) into text on a screen.

It isn't very tricky to make and one can add a few more functions as well.

how the heck would an earpiece help a deaf person hear.

you mean like a hearing aid? those don't work if they're 100% deaf.

We have optic nerve HUDs for dead eyes. I'm sure we could add a thing that makes you hear. There's one already, but it's a box or something. So put a similar thing into an earpiece, and done.

We're in a scifi setting....

We already have cybereyes, cyberheart, ticker, cyberweiner whatever in the loadout.

Last I checked we don't have an "Ear" organ.

This seems like an okay way to address hearing loss without having to create another organ or having to put some kind of "implant" into the players head to malfunction. Not only that but it gives you an option to do it, doesn't force you into it.

Also sci-fi.

cochlear implants require surgery and the HUDpatches are a shitty bay meme.

Thats nice and all, we're in a scifi setting, make it something that links straight to the auditory cortex and can detach
