Bygonehero
I think it would be interesting if new characters started in the command meeting room with the head of personnel, as when they spawn in at round start, there would be a check that would determine if its that characters first time being used, if it is, they would spawn in this orientation area with the head of personnel. I think this would expand the head of personnel duties a bit, provide roleplay opportunities, and make our workplace simulator a bit more believable. Obviously, this is only for round start, as new players would otherwise join from their chosen spawn point. Link to comment
ben10083
What about if the HoP isn't at round start, and we don't have one? These seems like a good idea in concept, but as I see it, we have many ways to request assistance for newcomers/first day on a job. We have the wiki, ooc, looc, ahelps, forum, asking ic, and maybe some others. Overall this is way too dependent on the HoP actually being present and if they want to give an orientation they can do it themselves via a announcement or helping assistants get situated. -1 Link to comment
K0NFL1QT
New players can't be command; new characters have already gone through orientation. Also, taking the Head of a Department out of their department at round start robs them of their chance to personally introduce themselves to their staff, and lay down ground rules. As HoP, you can offer assistance to new characters if you don't recognise them, but forcing them into your lair when they have a department to lead is bad. -1. Link to comment
sonicgotnuked
Oh god, I would not wish to do this as an HoP when you get greytide 1 and 2 to talk to. Repeating what everyone said, -1 Link to comment
Guest Marlon Phoenix
I would rather die in real life than be required to chair-rp with new players instead of interacting with them normally, and I am sure new players feel the same. Grayshirts and new players already try to meander their way over to the HoP line to ask about jobs, and I already talk to them about low-intensity roles they can take to get their bearings.
