Korinra Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Hey so I have a few troubles with blues and greens (I'm not fully colorblind but I have reduced color receptors), and I had a thought. Common is green, and Medical is blue-green. For me they're both bluish green. It would be SUPER cool if there were an OOC verb that I could click that pulled up a list of all coms channels, and I could personalize which colors those coms channels show up for me. Have like, a "default" option that pulls from the server, and then a color gradient for colors that I choose. This would help anyone who has any form of colorblindness to pick colors that stands out for them.
Skull132 Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Comm colors are handled server side, they do not consider individual clients. At present, this is not feasible.
Korinra Posted May 3, 2018 Author Posted May 3, 2018 That's a shame, could I petition for some more striking difference between at least medical and common channel? As it is now I can't see a difference unless I stare really hard. I'm sure to most people it's noticeable but I have SUCH a hard time seeing it that I can never tell when a conversation gets quick, and I wind up missing a lot of important details.
Sebbe Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Perhaps read the channel name instead of watch the colors?
UnknownMurder Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Wouldn't it be a possible suggestion for users to be able to set their color preferences?
Skull132 Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Wouldn't it be a possible suggestion for users to be able to set their color preferences? That is literally what this suggestion is, unless you mean setting some other colours. It is technically infeasible. As I stated before.
Korinra Posted May 4, 2018 Author Posted May 4, 2018 Perhaps read the channel name instead of watch the colors? Not always as easy when there's a TON of Common chatter and Medical is going crazy with a bunch of patients.
Scheveningen Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 Only thing that could be done presently is to change the hexidecimal values of the various channels to be more distinct in color. Even then, the various degrees of colorblindness can make one color indistinct from another.
Korinra Posted May 4, 2018 Author Posted May 4, 2018 As it is now, a few people who have weak color receptors are unable to see the difference in color. It would be nice if Medical were a more distinct color so at least it is notably darker/lighter than Common.
