Burbun Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 BYOND Key: Uhnkal Burbun ("AbandonedScholar" is the banned key.) Total Ban Length: For all of eternity. Banning staff member's Key: Alberyk Reason of Ban: A plasma fire. Reason for Appeal: Unfortunately, I am unable to play on the server whilst I am banned. Well, considering this incident was apparently done a few months ago by another account on this computer, the details are a tad bit foggy. Presumably, something got out of hand and I/or whoever was on this computer made a mistake and did not properly atone for my/their actions. Regardless, I sincerely apologize for whatever grief was caused by this act. If there is anything I can do in order to redeem myself so that I may rejoin the population of the server, please let me know.
sonicgotnuked Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Do you know if this done inside toxins? I remember someone causing a fire and I burned in the out come.
Burbun Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 Do you know if this done inside toxins? I remember someone causing a fire and I burned in the out come. According to my ban message on the launcher, it was done in atmospherics.
Guest Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 You would not have been around for AbandonedScholar, Sonic. He was a special individual. The ban would date back to 2015. Do you use a VPN of any sort?
Skull132 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Have you played here before on other ckeys, or are you holding that you didn't do the shenanigans in question?
Alberyk Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 From what I recall, you just joined as atmos tech, opened a plasma tank and left a open welding tool light in atmos. Burning down all the place and then logging. Also, Skull's questions still stands.
Burbun Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 Have you played here before on other ckeys, or are you holding that you didn't do the shenanigans in question? The plasma fire honestly doesn't ring any bells. I lived with a couple of roommates until recently, and I was recommended to play the game by them. Perhaps the incident involved one of them.

Wasn't quite what I was looking for, I suppose I'll rephrase. No one has played on our server from your computer, yes? If you've lived with roommates, did you let them play spessmens on your PC, or generally do stuff on your PC? One more request. Are you able to try connecting again (two attempts would be fine) and seeing if it changes anything? It'd help me check one more thing.

I took it with me when I moved, because I paid for it. And, certainly, I'll do that now.
Skull132 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Well okay, here's the deal. Your ckey is tied to AbandonedScholar's in our notes and connection logs. Specifically, both your ckey and Scholar's have been used from two different IPs, and two different computers over the past two years. More specifically, AbandonedScholar even claimed ownership of the account here (incident took place on 10APR2016): Line 56522: [00:01:22]ADMIN: PM: Skull132/(June Sonnberg)->Uhnkal Burbun/(Isaac Reed): I need to head to work, I'll refer you to another member of staff to keep discussing this. Also, you're already in trouble. Line 56532: [00:01:32]ADMIN: PM: Skull132/(June Sonnberg)->Uhnkal Burbun/(Isaac Reed): You're bypassing a global antagonist ban. Line 56658: [00:04:06]ADMIN: PM: Skull132/(June Sonnberg)->Uhnkal Burbun/(Isaac Reed): Anyways, I'll give you to a mod and also have them apply a syndicate ban to this ckey as well. Line 56888: [00:08:55]ADMIN: PM: Uhnkal Burbun/(Isaac Reed)->Alberyk/(Alberyk): Thanks. There's also another account two accounts tied via IP to you and AbandonedScholar: burbun and gazan. And as far as I'm able to tell. You have not moved. Your IP address is the same as it was on 27MAR2016. Which makes this statement questionable: I took it with me when I moved, because I paid for it. So, either you're being completely dishonest in this appeal. Or you let AbandonedScholar use your ckey as well as your computer. At which point, there is no way to verify what you're saying is true. And right now, every bit of looking up that I'm doing is saying me, "Yeah, these two ckeys are used by the same end user."

I completely understand the repercussions of actions taken on this IP. I suppose my CKey was played on, considering I had the data saved to "auto-login" on BYOND, and I never expressly told him not to play on it. Perhaps my roommate saw this as an opportunity to get back onto the server. Sorry for any and all trouble caused by my friend.

Perhaps my roommate saw this as an opportunity to get back onto the server. I actually had this happen before to me. My brother went and griffed on one of the tgstation servers at some point on one of my alts within the last year because he didn't really know how to play the game. I tried to log in on my main over there and I was evidently barred from entering either of the servers because a stickyban was applied. Apparently my brother didn't have nice things to say to the admin about the matter. I appealed for it and got unbanned after providing necessary proof. Worst-case scenario, assume this is AbandonedScholar. He's made a reasonable case and it could fathomably not be him, and some folks have been unbanned before because of roommates acting dumb and ruining it for other roommates who want to play SS13. If he exhibits the same behavior as the person who was originally banned, then there's plenty of room to get rid of him and not many people would protest if any rules were broken on the matter. But I personally have faith as weirder things have happened.
Skull132 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 The unfortunate matter is. AbandonedScholar's playstyle lends itself to this sort of conduct. He plays for roughly a day or two, fucks around while borderline breaking the rules, and then fucks off. The only thing that stopped him was him going a little too full retard last time, and landing himself a permanent ban. The only reasonable appeal from an individual whose actions are as childish and unapologetic as that is a full admission of guilt and failure to adhere to the rules. And even then, he'd end up on probation at most. The brother excuse in general is a shitty one. Doubly so in this case, when it looks like AS has tried to register an account with the name of Burbun in an attempt to bypass. But, not my ban and I'm no longer an admin primarily. I was simply fishing out the details. Alberyk or an Admin can now make the final decision. Also. If this is a freak accident. Do not, ever, permit other people to access your accounts on anything.
Serveris Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Yeah, nah. This in itself looks suspicious as all hell on account of the reasons Skull has already outlined. After speaking with the rest of administration as well as the moderator team, I'm more inclined to deny this appeal due to a unanimous staff decision on the matter. Locking and archiving.
