  1. I see the logic behind such a decision, but I always feel like decisions like this are unplayer-friendly. Also, I don't appreciate how Aurora seems to go to great lengths to prevent players from playing heads of staff, which too often results in consistently vacant positions or worse, the same tired faces in those critical positions over and over. Give your returning heads a chance, it's not worth dropping the hatchet on so many of them when we sorely need player variety in the command department. The NBT wave will not last forever. "Twist the blade." Yikes. This is how some players actually feel.
  2. You called it. Here I go. IMPROVE DON'T REMOVE. Or, in this case, replace with a functional equivalent. We shouldn't strike quality content from the game, especially a classic and popular game mode which does in fact have plenty of HRP potential, it mainly depends on the wizard's player. UNLESS we have an appropriate equivalent gamemode to introduce. If someone is particularly memeworthy, be sure to ahelp. I do this frequently to bad wizards.
  3. I really don't care for this. Like others have said, there's a lot of redundancy. Everything is well covered by engineers and scientists. The name is also off to me, a mechanic is well known as someone who fixes cars. Also the RCD or whatever the fuck it's called these days is a very powerful tool, typically not something that people other than the CE have access to and for good reason. However, I like the idea of a scientist that is more into applied technology that may involve small construction projects. I think it would make for a good alternative scientist title, though perhaps with a different name than mechanic. I would love to see a scientist title that is focused on upgrading machines and building new ones, because most scientists don't bother.
  4. Let me just start off by saying that Snake is a chaplain main. If you can stick to that, you're probably a better roleplayer than I'll ever be. Snake is just the right kind of balance between goofy and serious that makes his characters endearing to just about everyone. He's simply a joy to play with. And during his trial, he's been just as great. Khan doesn't do anything particularly original but it's always fun when something happens to him because then you can go "KHAAAAN!" As a player, Snake extremely courteous and he never capitalizes his sentences. Really makes him feel easy going and non-intimidating, I can dig it. I hope to see him turn out a few more characters in the future. Command characters as well. +1
  5. I have never really seen the point in removing cloning or even making huge changes to it. I could appreciate a revival feature in addition to cloning (such as CM's 5 minute defib) but otherwise, no point in fixing what isn't broken. -1
  6. Can I bump this? I would really like input from staff on this.
  7. Did the ERT even ask for your help? Tell you to follow them and heal them? Also, that following statement simply isn't true. Alice had plenty of opportunity to turn over the gear from the corpses she looted, or even put them in a secure locker, etc, but there was no attempt was ever made. If your looting was intended to simply protect yourself, why would you stroll around in the open with visible weapons and armor? I, too, looted a pistol or two that round, but I kept all that tucked away in my bag and only planned to use it in a bad situation (such as a raider attempting to kill me). You, on the other hand, were obviously looking for trouble. I'm not sure why you are hoping to accomplish by lying to me. You totally neglected your medbay. The nurse and psychologist could barely keep up with the workload while you ran around pretending to be security. You apparently looted the warden and left him for dead, I had to toss his corpse into medical. Same thing with the hostage, and other people who were killed. Corpses everywhere, nobody was getting healed, nobody was recovering the bodies and putting them into medbay. That is the job of an EMT and you did, as far as I could see, almost none of it. My main issue is not Alice herself, its the jobs you put her in. If you like chasing antags, shooting and hollering, following ERT straight into hell, that's fine! But please play security. We have something called "fear RP", where you're not supposed to willingly run into live fire or exceedingly dangerous situations (unless you're security/ERT) because your character should at least have some concern for their safety and wellbeing. Doesn't mean you have to sit there and cower in a corner, but as stated before, Alice was more of a bloodthirsty soldier than a civilian EMT.
  8. BYOND Key: Tequilajoe Game ID:b2D-bRYd Player Byond Key/Character name: Alice Green (Ckey unknown) Staff involved: TrickingTrapster, TheGoret Reason for complaint: Bad job RP, bad fear RP. Actively chasing antags Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes, but little action was taken. Logs could not be viewed by the moderators Approximate Date/Time: 08/08/2019 This isn't the first time I've seen Alice Green behave like this, and I'm sure it won't be the last. She is typically an EMT or medical intern, when I see her play. She is more or less passable when things are peaceful, but as soon as any sort of conflict kicks up, she seems to think it's okay to suddenly transform into security. I get it, it's code red. Shit's bad, people scrounge for guns, but this was a bit much. Particularly when she was going around chasing mercenaries with ERT instead of helping the dead and dying get to the medbay, or the ones already in there. Aside from shooting wildly at antags who are politely asking her to walk away (and hitting friendlies in the process), Alice becomes pretty rowdy when she fights. This is from after following ERT and "helping" them gun down a mercenary. Not exactly your everyday medical professional. Little disclaimer, I didn't spend a lot of time with her so I only saw so much, some of these shots might be taken out of a larger context. An admin should review the logs. But this isn't the first time she's acted like this. I recall a round when I was playing CMO and she, as a medical intern, strapped some steel plates to herself and charged raiders with a spear. I didn't witness the event, but I was there to clean up the mess. No screenies or other proof of this, but give me a week, and I guarantee I'll get a chance to see her do it all over again.
  9. Though I've only encountered them recently, Borya seems to have a solid grasp of the game, the concept and nuance of roleplay, and a willingness to improve on both fronts. The app seems fine to me, so I'll give him a +1
  10. Let me just say that I think a new construction system would be awesome. The current one is fine but it could definitely be improved. I think a general issue with SS13 construction is magically shaping steel and glass in your hand to make whatever you want. There needs to be a mechanism for it, a tool. In Lifeweb's OS13, engineers utilize a somewhat ambiguous wrist-mounted tool to help them make repairs and do stuff, I think something like that would be appropriate. Also, emphasis on using more materials. Maybe we should use some alloys, use some other metals. Copper, cobalt, nickel, et cetera. Otherwise, I'm going to stress that we need to be careful about persistence. It can make it harder for newer players to jump in, harder to avoid meta, and it can create a lot of grief if we have people throwing off colony progression. At least with round by round play, its okay if people fuck up and ruin everything, its all over in a couple hours. We can't have lasting features turn into lasting mistakes. Long construction times will make the game boring, but fast construction as it is now will create TONS of bloat if the server is persistent. Imagine all the ramshackle autism forts! This "initial colony" will likely have reduced features and I share Resilynn's concern that some departments may be forgotten about. That could prove to be a rocky start for many of us. I also think that the amount of admin control over this colony will have to be immense, as well as very consistent in rulings. I wonder if we're capable of that. RP and how characters work is going to be a serious challenge. SS13 is a game where dying is a part of playing, you're going to get killed from time to time, by antags or environment, or maybe your own boneheaded mistakes. If my engineer touches the supermatter and turns to ash, what then? How do we justify character death among other phenomenon that is usually fixed by the changing of rounds and deeming rounds as "non-canon" when heavily antag influenced? The more I think about it, the more it seems like a bad idea. Persistence, specifically. I'm going to give a thumbs down on total persistence (economic persistence might be okay). That said, I think anything is possible and Skull is a smarter lad then I so maybe you guys will come up with something great in a year down the line and blow me away. In any event I look forward to seeing how it goes, I just hope it doesn't go poorly.

  12. I see where you're coming from. I feel that I need to better explain my objection, so I apologize for being too brief in my OP. My chief complaint with your behavior is that it seemed to me that you were simply reaching for additional justification for my warning. And while I'm not here to debate the primary purpose of the warning, I strongly feel that you were inappropriate to admonish me for claiming that the guy who shot my eyes with his /tongue/ might possibly be an inhuman creature.
  13. Good to know, maybe he changed his mind about the topic by the end of our chat.
  14. BYOND Key: Tequilajoe Staff BYOND Key: Tbear13 Game ID: bUB-cIYx (the round after) Reason for complaint: ...I'm not sure how to classify this, check the logs Evidence/logs/etc: Additional remarks: Do I really need to say anything else? I've never laughed so hard at a bwoink. I suppose I should point out that this has nothing to do with the primary reason that I was boinked which I have decided not to argue with further, it was just an additional accusation he decided to throw in. Which he relentlessly defended despite this screenshot.
  15. CC has proven themselves a filthy synth sympathizer degenerate robot fucker big fan of synthetics and the lore behind them in the way that they play, and I see nothing wrong with this application. They're RP is solid, and I'd like to see them join the robot fun +1
