[Denied]TopBirb - IPC Species Whitelist Application
The Stryker replied to TopBirb's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi, thanks for applying, I have some questions for the application. Can you give an example of emotions being learned rather than instinctive? Could you talk about self-preservation and how this relates to what an IPC wants to/is programmed to achieve in its life? The character could be fleshed out a bit more if you talked about both Adam's age and place of origin. An IRU in Tau Ceti chasing down people in NanoTrasen-dominated Mendell City is going to have a very different time from an IRU that has to watch its step in an upper-class neighborhood in Luna. You could also expand on the controversial incident since it seems to be a defining moment in Adam's career and could have serious impacts on their world-view (or perhaps it doesn't!) In general, the backstory gives a good overview of Adam's life but I'd be more convinced if there were more details to flesh out the calculating professional characterization you want to go with. -
Hello and thanks for applying, unfortunately there are still major concerns about the application. This section does not effectively distinguish the differences between an IPC and a human. You touch on how they're treated differently in the "Why you wish to play a specific race" section, but you don't cover how an IPC behaves differently. How might a loyal corporate owned synthetic behave differently from a hard working human? Although it is possible for an IPC to feel superior to humans, why does Liu-su feel this way? Why does Liu-su view non-substance abusing colleagues as "esteemed"? The backstory needs to include Liu-su's age, as this is a big factor towards how much an IPC would have experienced. (For instance, 10 years is long for an IPC). Why does Liu-su feel desensitized after no longer working with organics? Did Liu-su not make decisions based off of logic alone before that? You need to establish why Liu-su has specific responses to certain things. Why is Liu-su leaving their dispatch team to go to the Horizon such a big deal? You also mention past issues with clients. What past issues did Liu-su have with them? The backstory is important because it allows us to gauge that you can make a character that conforms to a realistic IPC in the setting. Feel free to DM me or ask questions in the synthetic section of the Lore Discord in case you need additional information.

Lancer and ReadThisNamePlz Complaint
The Stryker replied to SatinsPristOTD's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Unfortunately, we're not willing to have War as a name for an IPC in the warden position whether in Zavodskoi or PMCG. Yes, IPC names can reference their position and many names are on the nose, however War for a warden in a corporation which emphasizes security is a bridge too far. We're not touching FAMINE, we approved that, so be it. -

Speaking on behalf of the synthetic team here, Admittedly our judgment was a bit hasty and we should have provided an explanation of why we're asking you to change your name. With that being said: Even for a company deeply involved in hiring out mercenaries or providing security, we think that ZI War is a little bit too on the nose. It'd be like calling a Z.I Killer, or Z.I Death - yes, these are concepts related with what Zavodskoi does, but just because the company gets up to them doesn't mean they're going to name IPCs in this way. Part of their brand image is looking like professional clean-cut mercenaries, not a bunch of killers. It'd be the same as calling a doctor Pestillence or Death, it's not a name that inspires confidence for what is ultimately a product. War could be the nickname of an IPC, but it's not likely that Zavodskoi would make it the official name. Even if Zavodskoi bought a series of IPCs called "Murder" or what have you, corporate would likely rename them. -
Cloned Creature- IPC application

Hi, thanks for applying, just some concerns for the application. Could you expand on this segment a bit more? You touch a lot on how IPCs are reason-based, but are there other ways that IPCs differ from humans? What about their origins, their place in the Spur? For example, how might they "feel" an emotion? The backstory is well rounded but does not give enough of a picture of how Cytis is as a character? 46 years is a massive time for an IPC to be alive, surely they must have an input on many of the things in the Spur? Why do they find joy in helping people, for example? Why Golden Deep over just starting a private practice, for example? -

Hi, thanks for applying, just some concerns for the app to start. I notice your application talks a lot about the different paths an IPC character can take (you mention Havoc and Athena). Could you expand on this by talking about how an IPC learns, self-preservation, and in particular, how IPCs are treated throughout the Spur? I'll also have concerns for the backstory since it talks a lot about what happened to HIRC, but doesn't really show anything that separates them as an IPC as opposed to simply an anti-corporate human. -

Could you expand on this particular question? You mentioned that robots and humans think in completely different ways. Could you expand on that? Additionally, could you talk about the way IPCs are treated in the setting, as well as other particular quirks of IPCs in the setting? -
Farofafeijao tries IPC WL (IPC app)
The Stryker replied to Farofafeijao's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
The issue primarily with the Lycorii background is that the SRF had total control over the planet - I find the idea of the SRF causing Gauze to reassess what it means to self-preserve very interesting, and it can involve the SRF, though I would prefer you pick a place other than Lycoris. Novi Jadran, for one, is a planet where anti-SRF resistance was at its peak. I understand avoiding a chore to read, but at the very least, expanding on details such as whether or not Gauze keeps in touch with the person who "rescued" them would help flesh out the character's past. Additionally, could you talk briefly about how an IPC might gain a personality? -

Hi, thanks for applying, just some concerns for the application: Please expand on how a positronic brain learns, how self-preservation works, how an IPC thinks, and how IPCs are treated differently throughout the Spur. Gauze was alive during a war where they would have been exposed to nearly every perspective in the Spur, from Dominians, Gadpathurian, Konyanger, free shell volunteers, etc. fighting alongside it. This should reflect more in its background and how it views the Spur other than "served for two years". Additionally, Lycorii characters cannot be played. I understand that they escaped as a refugee but I would rather err on the side of caution in this ruling The SRF lists uniquely among the worst regimes in the Spur and had its own uniquely oppressive policy towards IPCs and people who act against the interests of the SRF and this doesn't necessarily reflect in the backstory. There's room for a combat medic in all the other (former) Wildlands factions. -
Hi, thanks for applying! Just some concerns for the app, although your answers to Dessysalta's questions have added a bit of nuance. Could you expand a little bit more on the treatment of IPCs throughout the Spur with examples? This is especially important as I notice you've decided to make an IPC with a background from outside human space. Additionally, could you expand your thoughts on self-preservation? What would being more concerned with preserving one's beliefs look like? Could you talk about HI.RU's personality? How do they behave around people? What are their thoughts on Sinta?

Ultranumeron - IPC Application
The Stryker replied to UltraNumeron's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi, thanks for applying! Just some quick questions for the app, Could you provide more examples in the setting of IPC treatment, especially cases where IPCs are less favorably treated than Tau Ceti. Could you talk a little bit more about your character? In particular, when was HEVEX built? How were they treated by their colleagues, especially while climbing the Hephaestus corporate ladder, and how do they behave around people? The backstory does a decent job at explaining where HEVEX has been and what their goals are, but not who they are as a character. -
Hi! Thanks for applying, just some questions for the application to start. Could you expand on this section and talk about self preservation, as well as the way IPCs are treated in human space? Finally, to be on the Horizon, Damian would have remained in NanoTrasen rather than being transferred to the SCC itself since all non-command departments in the ship are effectively contractors. Please make changes to the backstory to reflect this.

Hi, thanks for applying! I like your observation of what life is to an IPC, however, could you expand a bit more about: Self Preservation How IPCs are treated in human space How old is Celestine? The age of an IPC can factor into the number of things it has experienced, and consequently, its worldview. Has Celestine been affected by any recent events in the Spur or in Biesel, such as either of the invasions by Sol? How has Celestine been treated by their colleagues?

“Open Doors” Agreement Signed on Xanu Prime Argia Sa Mar, Xanu Prime The “Open Doors” memorandum has been signed today by representatives of the Trinarist Orepit regime and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Xanu Free League, in a landmark understanding between the synthetic-dominated planet and the capital state of the Coalition. The main body of the agreement details the creation of a cooperative programme between the Trinary Perfection and Xanu Prime, allowing for the movement of approved persons from Orepit into the Xanu Free League for educational or employment purposes. Furthermore, individuals enrolled into the programme will be able to apply for and be issued with special Xanusii documents that will amount to a weaker version of a Coalition passport, permitting travel and off-world employment for the holder. The treaty has been hailed as a great diplomatic success within circles in Providence, who soon expect the first Orepitters to be abroad. Many members of Providence’s religious orders have already applied for the programme, awaiting a response from Xanusii authorities and their potential employers. Notably, the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate has not posed significant pushback, with the expected exception of Hephaestus Industries which has stated that no Trinarists will be employed by them under these arrangements. In a surprising response from the authorities in Providence following our request, BitByte was granted unprecedented access to film and interviews inside the city and its surroundings.

ARM-1DRIL Arrives at Mendell City Mendell City, Biesel Commotion in Mendell City’s District 14 has been well underway from the moment the news of the Trinary Ecclesiarch’s arrival broke, as churchgoers initially remained divided over the intent of the authoritative head of their faith. Nonetheless, the caretaker synod in charge of the eparchy ordered the preparation of a grand welcome fit for the Ecclesiarch, who made touchdown at the Mendell shuttleport in the early morning hours. The Ecclesiarch’s rocky relation with the Trinarists of Mendell City is a well known gap which many hope is going to be bridged. Last year’s protests over the legality of the transportation to Orepit of Flock, the three-headed leader and Mendell Church’s most holy figure, forced the Ecclesiarch to indefinitely repeal these orders, leaving an air of uncertainty over his authority in District 14. Following a discreet car journey through the outskirts and the purposeful avoidance of Districts 6 and 8, ARM-1DRIL proceeded in a triumphant entry along District 14’s main street. Decorations, flags and confetti were unfurled and launched into the air above the motorcade, after which the Trinary leader dismounted and continued on foot amidst the cheers and curious looks by supporters and skeptics alike. Rows of Guardians kept the onlookers at bay, while permitting ARM-1DRIL’s passage into the District’s heart, the Cathedral of the Positronic. Marking a historic first visit, the Ecclesiarch stood and marveled at the structure before being greeted by the priests and bishops of the synod, presided by the shellframe bishop of Scottsdan who expressed her wishes on behalf of her diocese’s small Trinarist community. An Ecclesiarchical liturgy then took place inside the packed cathedral, broadcast with megaphones into the crowded courtyard. The service was a shortened version of the original, lasting about three hours, after which ARM-1DRIL reportedly visited the chambers of the idle Flock, having the opportunity to read a printout of the three-headed IPC as it came out, and having the caretaking process explained to him in detail. The Ecclesiarch’s visit was followed by a lengthy meeting with the synod, discussing matters of consequence and relations between Mendell City integrationists and Orepit. Great progress was reported, with ARM-1DRIL appearing on the balcony to address the assembled crowds. ARM-1DRIL promised to recognise the Integrationist sect as an equal and compatible way of thought within the wider Trinary Perfection, allowing Flock to remain on the planet indefinitely and undisturbed. He vowed for the protection of the Tau Ceti eparchy, guaranteeing financial support and the construction of a seminary for the education and training of new clerics inside the bounds of District 14 and not Providence. To seal the new relationship, the Ecclesiarch agreed to the ordination of a new archbishop of Tau Ceti to succeed Shamfar. As such, the synod elected a baseline named Kasper to the new position, being ordained by the Ecclesiarch on the same day.

Just a quick question, what frame is the IPC? -
Increasing IPC Desertion in San Colette’s Civil Guard Nueva Villaviciosa, San Colette The BitByte banner flashes, interspaced with clips featuring IPCs serving in combat during the SLF offensive in San Colette. Several scenes play out, including a number of synthetics gathering around a human officer for a briefing, pictures of destroyed positronic frames, and strikingly, a number of synthetic personnel clad with medical insignias running into a burning building. The screen cuts to a San Colettish reporter wearing a vest with the word “PRESS” emblazoned on it in Sol Common, a small pop-up identifies them as Diego Pascual, BitByte Local. Behind him appears to be a field hospital manned primarily by a mix of humans and IPCs clad in the telltale brown uniforms of the refugee Guardia Civil. “We’re standing here in the suburbs of Nueva Villaviciosa, and although the fighting has stopped, the troubles haven’t ceased for many of its defenders.” The screen briefly cuts to a scene of a number of IPCs in uniform wheeling away a patient on a stretcher into a surgical theater. “The unit based here is the 3rd Refugee Brigade of the Guardia Civil and they’ve been instrumental in most of the cleanup operations in this area, helping with search and rescue, defusing unexploded munitions, and distributing aid to local civilians who’ve lost their homes during the SLF’s attack. Staffed mostly by IPCs, many of the members in this unit joined with the promise of safe passage out of the Alliance. Recently however, the Guardia Civil has involuntarily extended the service of most members in the brigade, citing reconstruction efforts and the need to maintain order on the planet. This news has not sat lightly with many IPC guardias and some Colettish commanders have struggled to maintain order amidst the discontent. Some synthetics have even tried to take matters into their own hands, with several members suspected to have deserted by escaping onboard supply vessels. The growing resentment among them was compounded by an incident earlier in the week in which a synthetic member of the brigade attempted to board a shuttle leaving for the Coalition.” The next clip is shakier and has a much lower resolution, consistent with helmet camera footage. A large G2 in a brown uniform is arguing with a Konyanger merchant captain at the loading ramp of a shuttle as a mix of Solarian personnel and Guardia Civil officers begin to surround it. A flurry of incoherent shouting between the two intensifies as the synthetic attempts to run onto the ship, pushing the captain to the floor. A gunshot rings out, hitting the G2 in the back, followed by several more, the person wearing the helmet-camera joining in as well. The footage continues until a Guardia Civil officer with a blurred face suddenly gets the attention of the cameraman, reaching up to shut the footage off. “Although no other attempted seizures of ships have been reported, the shooting sparked concern among the Brigade’s leadership, with several IPCs being confined to barracks or rotated to other units. To better explain the situation Guardia Civil IPCs face, we spoke with a member of the Guardia Civil who has chosen to remain anonymous.” The camera shifts back to Diego as he once more stands in front of the field hospital, facing the camera. “The situation on San Colette remains perilous as the planet struggles to rebuild in the aftermath of the destruction. What remains to be seen however is whether or not these IPCs will choose to be a part of it.” The BitByte logo appears on the screen once more as the feed fades.

*Beep Boop Intensifies - IPC Application
The Stryker replied to Syncron's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thanks for applying, Some concerns for the application. The application needs to expand more on how Query behaves. There is a general background here but it doesn't really give a good idea of who they are. How does he behave around people? How does he feel about the way people treat him? Additionally, you need to expand more on how being Elyran affected Query. Although Elyra has relatively good IPC laws, the public perception towards IPCs in Elyra is very negative and this would have definitely had an effect on them if they had to work there. Query could have also interacted with an Elyran megacorporation, especially Yazmani Wellness, one of Zeng-Hu's partners in the region. Outside of New Suez, SCC megacorporations have little to no presence within Elyra. -
Rename Point Verdant to Shinryoku
