What Jakers said. I'm usually not willing or even able to play for much more than two-and-a-half hours straight, just cuz I got stuff to do. Forcing extended would make me all of the sad, as much as I hate to say it.

If someone were to recently have moved from Sol to Tau Ceti, would it be unheard of for them to struggle with Ceti Basic, like finding words and things, or are the languages similar enough that swapping isn't too much hassle with lessons and practice?

Heya, peoples. I have no idea if this thread idea has been done, but as I'm sittin' here at actual work, I started wondering about languages. So here's what I wanna see, perhaps. State your native tongue, and any other languages you speak. Preferably written as it would be IN that language, with the English name/spelling in brackets beside it. While it might be kinda hard to quantify what counts as "being able to speak", I say you don't really need to be fluent, per se, but you should be able to hold a basic conversation without looking at google translate. Maybe say how well you can speak secondary languages, such as if you're just learning or whatever. I'll start. My mother tongue is English (Canadian, cuz that matters, right?) 日本語もはなします。(I also speak Japanese, which I've been learning for the past two years) This is just for fun, and cuz I'm curious.

One of my favourite things about games like Dead Space was finding the audio logs and figuring out what exactly happened amidst the screaming and dying. It would be coolio if we had a similar system for the PDAs.

I definitely think its dumb that stun-gloves aren't visible when shift clicking, or even on the sprites. That should be changed, as they are kinda OP... Also, I know that I, personally, fully expect to be attacked and killed if I ever pick up anything that could be used as a weapon while near an antag. Also, I apparently need to re-read the rules because I was unaware of the "no killing civis" rule. Or I forgot. Likely the latter.

Personally, the only time I've seen engineers arm themselves is once there is a confirmed threat, and then they usually turtle. As in, set up a field generator (On code red, lock down the engine), don a hardsuit, and maybe fashion some makeshift weapon and then just... Hold the fort until they're needed to repair, then head out in groups of around two. While there is definitely a rapid arms race once the shit hits the fan, I've never really seen engineers do much besides panic and lock themselves into engineering... Though I haven't been playing very much in the past few weeks.

While I do love me some ballistics, there is an issue that is always brought up with this sorta thread: Bullets make glass go bye-bye. Which can be bad for a station floating in space with glass windows on the exterior.

Yeah, I've always wanted to get more into Paul's life outside of work, but every time I see an opening to start talking, I feel like it would feel too forced/awkward. But I'll try. Also, I'm probably one of the least devious human beings in the history of the world, so I tend to stay away from antag roles, especially traitor... But I might give it a try. What if the calender measured minutes instead of days, and you needed a new one every day?

Oh, yeah, it'd be nice to have, and make sense from an RP perspective. There's no denying that. But it just seems like it could cause a few problems with people who aren't used to needing the item to pilot mechs legally getting in trouble with security or whoever if they didn't choose to spawn with the license.
