  1. Hi again! Right, on to the topic at hand. People have had a go at me for playing both medical and security, despite the fact I have been told several times by moderators that security cadetship literally takes a single month to complete. People have also brought up the fact 'If he is so well know ledged in medical work, why do security as well?' it boils down to one point. Personal opinion. He wants to work in security but he doesn't let medical go to waste. You don't run up to a guy who ended up getting a degree who works somewhere else and having a go at them about it. He purely wants to work in both fields, which may seem like a issue OOCly, but really isn't a IC issue at any point. As for 'toxicity'. That hasn't spread anywhere OOCly, it's purely a IC issue and really shouldn't be handled OOCly. If you're talking about how he insults certain individuals and dislikes other, again, that is mostly (99% of the time) from IC interactions with others. Oscar Rockwell for example, he has been a thorn in Cane's side pretty much every shift they have interacted with each other. I have at no point been toxic OOCly. Powergaming, how? You don't say how, you just say 'He has been powergaming'. If you're talking about last night where you held me at gun point, you have to consider several things. One, I had my back to you when you walked up behind me in the hall. I couldn't of seen a gun held against me from such a distance AND turned away. You told me to drop my radio, and I had my vest on. Nothing stopping me from reaching up towards the radio and pulling something from my vest. It seems dickish OOCly, sure, you can call it that. But ICly I couldn't of seen the weapon and my own weapon was in easy reach. Metagaming, literally how? How have I metagamed at all? As for pain/threats. He tries to survive when he can. There has been plenty of times where he has surrendered or given up. /Plenty/. Granted most of the time when I have done that I've just been killed so it loses its factor of doing it the rest of the time. But I do react to it a lot. Inside of action however, not so much. If I am in a active gunfight with adrenalin running through my veins, I might not really notice that stun round until it takes me down. The aggressiveness and superiority thing? Purely IC. Seriously, if someone wants to act all superior against another race(Which Cane /hardly/ ever does. It's normally towards people he dislikes.) and is a general aggressive asshole to people he dislikes. That is a IC thing. As I've stated before, this has never spilled over in to L/OOC. I keep it purely IC, because it is a IC thing. As for the three departments thing, that was a joke. I get so much flack for two, a third would be suicide. Hence why I said it I added a ':3' at the end, should be clear it was a joke. That should cover most if not all the points you have presented.
  2. Reporting Personnel: Edward Cane Rank of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer Game ID: bkHuXf Personnel Involved: (Name, Rank: Offender/Witness/Other (Ckey)) - Edward Cane, Security Officer, victim. - Alice Knapp, Head of Security, offender. - Mark Syion, Security Officer, offender. - Za'Akaix'Ghul Zo'ra, Security Officer, Witness. Time of Incident: (If unable to provide, leave blank) Real time: 8:30-9:30 PM, 28/10/2016 Location of Incident: NSS Exodus Internal Security Deparment Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property []Neglect of Duty [X]Harassment [X]Assault [X]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: At the start of the shift, things were going normally with a few comments going back and forward. Later on about ten minutes in to the shift, Mark Syion arrived and went in to security. After a bit of talking with Commander Knapp and myself. I said 'This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine.' to the Warden on the firing range. Syion soon approached me and started to grab and throw me on the table. During the scuffle I attempted to pepperspray him for battery. Knapp stepped in and told us to both stop it. Later on we start arguing via comms before he shows up and attempts to hit me. I pepperspray him in self-defense and carry on, before he charges me with a baton and starts hitting me. I applied some taser fire. Commander Knapp soon demotes me to cadet, along with him. I however turn in my badge. Later on I have my radio still, Syion enters the holodeck to arrest me for it. The cadet has a laser rifle and starts waving it down, telling me to get down. He tries to hit me with it and a scuffle ensures, with me being ontop. I call for a security officer to handle the cadet. Zo'ra appeared on sight and attempted to handcuff the cadet. The cadet resisted and turned his rifle on the officer. He was finally subdued and hauled off. I was later hauled off to the brig and detained for a fourty minute sentence while the cadet was suspended.. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: Yes, Alice Knapp, Head of Security. Actions taken: None. Additional notes:
  3. Well compare it to the current cult. Right now, the current cult is about blood, and general murder. Most spells are about murder, resisting conversion burns, you have to kill certain people and soul shard them to get them to do things. This cult is more defense based and less murder-y in general. Should bring down ganking a lot and allow more opportunities for RP to develop.
  4. Basically, this is a big task. Really, /really/ big. It's basically porting over the Clockwork Cult gamemode from /tg/ and implementing it. Making a few changes to buff/nerf things and make it fit with our lore. Clockwork cult is more of a RTS then the current cult. It's more defense then murder-fense. You have resources, you produce them, you make components for spells, machines and the like. Plus it allows borgs and the AI to be converted directly. So no more flash+harmbaton for them. I can't be arsed to write up a full thing this late, so I might expand more on the topic if anyone asks. Here is the wiki page if you want to read up on it. https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Clockwork_Cult
  5. BYOND key: CommanderXor Character names: Edward Cane How long have you been playing on Aurora?: About...two months, give or take a week or so. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Because I've played interim head of staff a lot and I've found it to be a lot of fun. Why did you come to Aurora?: Because I craved a lot of HRP and was unable to play on a previous server, so I moved on to this after a recommendation. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay in the most broadest and basic sense is taking on a roll of someone and acting out them is. To go further in depth, roleplay is about making a character, that may be a single one or a group of them, and molding it in to the universe you are playing in. This may be a simple mechanic in a post-apocalyptic world who is trying to survive all the way up to a CEO of a multi-trillion dollar corporation. Roleplay has to be believable, but also fun. A doctor wouldn't be setting up a super matter engine, a security officer wouldn't be flying a fighter in to a aircraft carrier on the coast of America, and so fourth. It's simply taking on a role in a world, and making it believable and enjoyable. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: A head of staff is there to babysit their department, they are there to help guide it along, sometimes with a firm steady hand, and sometimes to slowly nudge something in place so the entire machine works. They are simply another cog in a machine, but the cog is there to help the machine help run well oiled. Not only that, but they are there to help enhance the roleplay when it comes to antags. A antag may want to do a certain objective or goal and need someone beyond a janitor or doctor to help guide it along. They are also there to help ensure there is a certain person you can look to ensure everything is running well. Not only that, but Command tend to be a direct link between the station and the CCIA and vice versa. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A whitelisted player is entrusted to uphold their whitelist and not abuse it. If you're applying for a CMO or HoS, you shouldn't suddenly jump in as the CE and do things. The staff and the server as a whole have trusted you not to sit back and use it as bragging rights, but to rather help further the roleplay of the server, and the general atmosphere of it. Both ICly, and OOCly. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name:Edward Cane Character age: 30. Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Cane's ancestors were a weird bunch to say the least. But that is for another time. At birth Cane was normal and the likes, learning how to walk and talk at a normal age like a majority. His parents were pushy however, always striving for a 'dream child', and to them, this was high grades, perfect clean records and good music, he passed 2/3 of those things. While in primary he may of been pushed further then most kids, once he reached highschool it hit a bad string. Hours of grueling work from his parents ontop of school work, while it helped him become smart and good grades, it wared him down mentally and socially. Anger outbursts and a lack of friends would wear down any man. Some would call it a snowflake background, but it has its ups and downs. He failed utterly at music which disappointed his parents. While on Earth growing up, he took up his own hobbies, drawing, Krav Maga, rifling and sailing. A lot of it he absorbed, but some went through him. Upon graduation his parents pushed him hard in to college, no mercy style. While his parents hurled money and scholarships at him, he was forced more and more, he snapped at people nearly daily, certainly weekly. He was put on medication as he went further and further down the foxhole of it. By the time he reached 28, he finished all his work and was a free man at last, medication stopped soon after as he started to gather his wits back. While landing a job as a Virologist of the Exodus for all his hard work, officially he has no records of his medication, only a few select few from the past ever even knew about it. What do you like about this character?: He is a wild card, you never know if he is going to give you a donut and coffee, or shout at you for messing up his work place. This may seem like a bad thing, but it allows total randomness to the entire thing. He might decide to help that person above everything else, or utterly shut you out. Some have described him as shady for it. What do you dislike about this character?: They are a /tad/ bit snowflakey. The background could be worked to include more, some more flaws, some buffs, readjustments, a lot of it can be adjusted and should be later on. And again, the wildcard. It's a double edged sword. It isn't a excuse to randomly murder someone or injure them, but it means they may do things that seem brash to others at first glance. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Well, they have worked hard towards it, each shift they have attempted to further the station. Either by working in medical and treating the injured, or hunting down criminals in security. It's only one person in all my lists, so I have used them /every/ shift. Meaning for several IC and OOC months solid they have been working to benefit NanoTrasen and the station. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Well, I would give it...if we used a number scale, 6-7/10. I do think I play way too much for winning. But I have been trying to improve further on my roleplay so it benefits everyone on the server and anyone who interacts with it, both with new gimmicks both for antag and non-antag(No self-antaging gimmicks!), and with readjustments and alterations to Cane. Extra notes: None, just thanks for reaching the end!
  6. The reason I started beating them is A) To ensure that they stayed down, basic vending sedative doesn't last long and B) A bit of IC revenge for removing a leg and arm.
  7. If I was going to kill the ninja, why would I put them in cryo once I was stable?
  8. This isn't the thread for that. Some of it is true, some of it isn't.
  9. Alright. I made a forum account just to defend myself on this. I'm going to give my story on it in the long run and then tell you why I did it point by point in reaction to what you said. As soon as the shift started I checked the manifest, just me and Alice. ERAS came aboard and I started asking him to let me grab the spare ID as a sort of joke, I just kept talking to him and it soon devolved in to me talking about if he wanted me to pet him and he was talking about not being a dog. I saw you approach. Considering you weren't on the manifest at the start nor no announcements. I assumed you were a intruder. Fast forward Alice comes down and we all start talking. Then you come up and headbutt me, causing 9 point something of eye damage and bleeding damage. I chase after you, trying to disarm you for that. When we went from one side of the bridge to the other, you immediately summoned your sword and removed my leg causing me to go in to crit while bleeding. Alice had dragged me in to medical and ERAS guided her how to get me in cryo and alive. You come in and start buckling me to a bed as I asked for your help. Cue several attempts at getting a cane to work, I get ERAS to grab a wheelchair. I'm rolling around in medical while you head back. I head to a vendor and grab three syringes and a bottle of soporific. Using my access I put them in to the syringe gun and went looking for you. When I found you, I drawed my gun and nailed you between the eyes once. You then attempted to run away only to run back and attempt to esword me. I drew my crowbar and tried to defend myself, resulting in my arm being severed and more blood loss. Cue you standing up and trying to teleport away, you teleported in to chemistry where I got ERAS to come in and help me contain you. I kept crowbarring you and applying soporific to keep you from getting up and lynching me. Alexei arrived on the station and I asked for his help. Considering I saw you teleport away I made the decision to remove the suit to prevent that, and a straight jacket to prevent you from harming me. [At the time I was in light critical, only kept going because I had taken a painkiller for the severed arm and leg.] I ended up sticking you in cryo because I didn't intend on killing you. I had talked to Alexei about making sure you couldn't escape incase security arrived. The reason you were kept in cryo is because I needed to get robotic limbs attached and healed myself. Because I couldn't pull you or pin you, meaning you could easily escape if I let you wake up. By the time we actually got the robotic limbs, you had somehow exploded in to a group of nymphs. The rest of the round didn't relate to you in the slightest. Right, now that text wall is finished, let's break it down in to dot points. 'That's the first issue I have: a virologist who probably shouldn't have much knowledge of chemicals decided to gank an antagonist who was not acting aggressively with no warning. I had attacked him in the past, yes, but only in self-defense and had assisted in medical efforts to fix him, and in that incident I had shown nothing but good-will.' I had grabbed soporific from the vendor, I didn't mix it myself. I merely put a syringe of it in to a dart gun. You had removed my leg and gave me eye damage simply because I had called you a intruder. It escalated in to this. 'And then we get onto the second issue: he continuously bludgeoned me while I was down and he was in a wheelchair with a crowbar, until a cyborg was able to convince him to stop. He claims he did not intend to kill me, but he hit me a lot. I'm afraid I was unconscious at the time, so I don't have a copy of how many times I was hit, but I heard the sound effect a lot - enough to send me into crit.' I crit'd you because I had a missing arm and leg and I was the only person besides a borg. I had to ensure you stayed down until I was in a state that I could tend to your wounds and make sure you didn't escape or murder me. 'And then, finally, we get into the third issue. The doctor, who had just arrived on station, was trying to help me. But then Edward Cane instructed the doctor to straight-jacket me and hide my control module. I was then left in cryo for the remainder of the round, with no assistance from anybody.' The 'doctor' wasn't a doctor, he was a anomlist. The reason I removed your suit is because I saw you teleporting and pulling swords out of it when you had no backpack. It was a hazard if you woke up. The reason I straight jacketed you was to prevent you from escaping or harming me as I couldn't pull or pin people. I took a screenshot during the incident incase anything happened. As you can see, I am lacking a arm and leg in this and we are in chemistry with her passed out with ERAS near by trying to help sedate her. That is all I really can say as that is the full account of what happened and the reasoning behind it.
