An energy drink vendor, and giving credability to the Zzzoda meme? Yes please. I'm just a bit confused that a human company would market literal Vaurca vomit as a drink, unless that one is specifcally marketed towards the Vaurca themselves? Either way I like it.

Don't really have any other characters that I could apply for Command to beyond Richter, so I'd need to make an entire new character and play them around to get them known. So just go ahead and decline/remove the application or whatever. You do not need a known character, a new one that you made just for this application is fine. Are you sure you want this application retracted? Currently, my only other main characters would be Vaurca which are barred from command in general and IPCs. I'll think of what I can do over the day and see if I can't make a new one.

Richter was an Officer/Warden, then became a command member. The previous strip was from an OOC situation, thus the IC reasoning being his contract finally expiring and having him head off for a few months before resigning a contract for internal security again. The security to chemist thing was due to an OOC agreement given high-ping ruined security rounds, afterwards I was told it wouldn't be allowed and told to revert him to security again. A majority of the changes have been due to OOC issues that have since been fixed. Does this reasoning sort this issue out at all? Unfortunately not. Richter cannot be a command member as it is, you are still required to edit the application with another character. Don't really have any other characters that I could apply for Command to beyond Richter, so I'd need to make an entire new character and play them around to get them known. I don't have any sort of issue with you OOCly, the only thing being IC dislike between Richter and Jawdat, we haven't quarrelled on other characters at all as far as I am aware. The main thing preventing Richter from going off at people like that and 'use your command powers to punish character or players that you feel deserve it' would be a mixture of common sense, and obviously the loyalty implant. When he was an officer/warden he always sort of looked out for himself, still doing his duties on the side, but when he's been command he has always carried out his duties/loyalties first. Arresting someone for making a rude remark at him would probably be a waste of resources and bad publicity unless it was severe enough to warrant the slander charges.

BYOND key: CommanderXor Character names: Sean Richter, Edward Cane, Rosey Woods, Jackson Holiday, O.I.U-156, Romeo Patton, Ka'Akaix'Vizea C'thur, Ka'Akaix'Mizor C'thur, Ka'Akaix'Yava C'thur, Ka'Akaix'Tela C'thur, Tallow Winters, Talon, Jess Flandern, Chemzie, Hark, How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Late 2016, so nearly two years or so. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Because I always did enjoy playing command and helping push along the rounds either with antag involved ones or general events. Not to mention there is a massive lack of command members during the low-pop rounds I play on, thus I want to fix that. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to Aurora originally since it was a heavy roleplay server that had a consistent population during the various parts of the day and seemed to reach that perfect mix of action and roleplay. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have read over the qualifications needed for them. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is in its most basic roots taking on the role of a person, persons or object in a set environment. This may be real life, or something like Space Station 13. Often it is done for entertainment. Typically while roleplaying a person, you should have their personality and history set out, there should be a 'ruleset' of a sort that they abide by and live up to. This may be having exploitable information that can impact them, to possible species bias in interactions. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: In game, if taken from an in character viewpoint, they are hired to maintain cohesion over their department, and thus through extension the station. Each person is in charge of a set department and are there to keep it running like a well-oiled machine, hypothetically this would mean if all departments had one the station would run at peak efficiency. They are also there as a mouthpiece of sort for any orders relayed through the chain of command. OOCly, they're there to help guide along their departments, help antag interaction, and ultimately make the round more enjoyable for all parties when applicable. A fine balance between fun, and realism must be struck in such interactions. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The OOC responsabilities of a whitelisted player is obviously more serious roleplay, they're expected to handle issues professionally instead of shirking it to go mess around. They're expected to help drive the round along, either antag-wise or in event-run rounds. They're expected to not instantly shut down everything, and instead help drive roleplay and a story with everyone, attempting to make the round something fun filled. To uphold such things, I would likely not attempt to shun every attempt at a gimmick, and I would try and look at things from a greater perspective than just 'winning the game' as per-say a Head of Security or such. I'd think about what others may experience in a round and such and attempt to make it fun for everyone. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Sean Richter Character age: 41 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Sean Richter had for the most part grown up standard, showing a passion in the fields of history and old Sol/Earth culture. He was born as a Germanic-Irishman in Ireland. Having attended schooling until finishing Year 12, he set off to join the Sol's armed forces. He was deployed as a soldier in his home country for about eight years as he took up a combat engineering career pathway. He saw real action a few times from terrorists and insurrectionists a few times but escaped rather unscathed physically and mentally. Following the several years he worked as a combat engineer, he was reassigned as apart of a Riot Control unit, for ten years he worked as it. Rarely being deployed to the relatively stable nature of Europe at the time. While apart of it he learned even further things, and put his skills from the armed forces to use. The mixture of his military and security work allowed him to seek out a contract with NanoTrasen as a security/officer brig warden. They originally started out a member of the ATLAS party while working, and quickly rose to become the head of the Biesel Storm Divison. However, as they progressed through their service with NanoTrasen they started to realize things were not as it seemed and they started to get to know synthetic and alien alike. After much development on station they soon left the ATLAS party and denounced it, from there they started to get in to pro-synthetic and pro-alien policies, eventually getting to the point where he was on the other side of the political spectrum from where he started. Most of the time he spends assisting them as best as we can, often buying k'ois bars for the Vaurca crew and such. What do you like about this character?: I enjoy Richter because to date he is my most developed and complex character, for nearly two years i've played with him and developed his personality. He started quite right-wing being a member of ATLAS and through many rounds he's slowly changed until he's pro-alien and such. This coupled with the various events he's run through gives him much value to myself, and I thoroughly carving out his story through more rounds and the likes. It's always fun to reflect back and see how he has changed, and what may have happened if he did something else or such. What do you dislike about this character?: I guess what I dislike about Richter is his more rigid behavior as of recently. He spends most of his time reflecting back on errors made throughout his stay on both the Exodus and the Aurora, and what drove him to this. While not a flaw in itself, it does mean he can be a pain to plan out at times. What would Richter do, compared to his old self and the likes. It adds another lay at least to the roleplay even if it is something I dislike at times having to adapt to such situations. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: I believe that Richter would make a good member of Command because he has spent much of his time working within a team, mainly the Internal Security Department. He has been in command in the past but his contract at the time expired and he has to resign it again. So he has proven he was worthy, both working as a interim Head of Security and a fully-fledged one later on. I think along with that fact, his currently personality would be a great contrast to the current members of Command present on the server, given the current anti-Vaurcae atmosphere in the server, compared to his pro-Vaurcae opinion, it would make for a good situation. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I say my roleplay abilities are currently average. I started roleplay with a Garry's Mod gamemode known as Clockwork Half Life 2 Roleplay, specifically the GRIDHIVE server. I thoroughly enjoyed how the server was something different from what I used to. From there, I started getting into actual story-driven roleplay and played on many other servers like Lemonpunch, Shockcore Gaming and such. From there I got into SS13's HRP scene through finding it on the hub, I started with Baystation and then moved to Aurorastation after some time. For the past two years I've been playing on here trying to improve my roleplay abilities. Extra notes: N/A

Now that I have the edgy as fuck quote out of the way - I am aware this is nearly an entire year old - but I believe this could very well work if adjustments are made to it to fit the server better. Obviously, powers need to be reworked to make it more....acceptable, since we use a vastly different medical system perhaps having a healing ability added, or even make it passively heal in the dark and things like broken bones and such require a power? Various other things should be changed, like thralls not being dead obvious at a mere glance - unless we wished to keep that feature? - infact the entire thing could perhaps be some sort of new Lii'dra bio-weapon experiment, black k'ois on steroids, with some fluff thralling message being vomiting black k'ois into a victim or such to enthrall? Just an idea thrown out, obviously, a new alien species is do-able per the original 'lore' of shadowlings. Perhaps, even if we wished we could add it to a mixed gamemode, or replace the classic changeling with it until it is fixed? Again, just ideas to throw out there. Otherwise, I'd like to see this gamemode added, albeit I highly advise some sort of rework to fit the mechanics of our codebase.

Maybe replace it with some sort of store room for office supplies or such? Shelves/racks filled with ink cartridges, tape recorders, spare paper, and pens. We don't really have any sort of area filled with office supplies and it'd be better than just another fire closet. -

I think a meme/'syndicate' based card-set would be better than a legendary card as it fits the theme more. Hell, hacking the kitchen vending machines gives red and black lunchboxes, a clear nod towards the syndicate toolboxes. I doubt many people will hack it so it shouldn't be an issue. -

I literally just posted a screenshot of the logs of you shooting the Warden twice - granted burst fire, didn't notice that the first time - without any sort of indication of why, and getting called out in LOOC by your own team for it. I believe it was Graves who had said 'picked a great time for people to leave' over security radio to alert others to the situation, and I beeped in EAL over seccomms for Sunder to tell the others they were in the armory trying to take hostages. -

I believe Armory ahelped it as he mentioned it in LOOC that no one had responded to his ahelps towards the end. I'm not too sure of the outcome of what happened on that side, however, and I didn't bother making a second ahelp since he seemed to have ahelped the issue already. -

You actually instantly shot at the Warden and tried to double tap him in the armory as soon as you came in to view after a single sentence, even being called out by the other mercs on the instant attempt at shooting him. So security did try to play along until you shot the Warden, resulting in an officer in the lobby returning fire, resulting in all the officers to then get up from the armory and start the firefight. I noticed Armory posted the second part of the incident involving the 'Welcome to KoS' without showing what happened before, as I have both screenshots. I rounded the corner to see 2-3 of you holding Harper hostage talking to someone. Instantly you shot at me while the Unathi deployed the shield and glave when I returned fire after questioning it. -

RIP Vaurca and IPCs, not able to afford to play. It's a good idea though. Out of curiosity, what will be the special hackable/contraband item(s) from the vendor? The ones where you snip/pulse the vendor item and it unlocks new stuff. -
I am fully against this idea. This idea appears to be nothing more than an attempt to put a cap on the station by making engine start-up become a harder thing for the sake of being hard. There is nothing to gain from this. There is no benefit, there is no RP. Is it ultimately just making someone's job harder for...no reason other than it's 'too easy'? We're not talking something like security being able to stop antags easily, or vice versa. We're talking about a vital part of the station that needs to be set up or the round is basically veto'd and 7 out of 10 times the shuttle gets called. I see what you're going for here but I just utterly disagree with it, there is no point in making it harder purely for the sake of it being hard.

[Accepted] CommanderXor's IPC Application
CommanderXor replied to CommanderXor's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hia. Thanks for leaving some feedback/questions, let's get into em. He'll have the same base personality between the two roles, the differences will be that while 'off-duty' or working as a bartender that he won't be in any sort of protection mode, of course assuming that he isn't directly threatened, self-preservation protocols and all still functioning. Basically boils down to any other crewmember, he isn't going to get involved as a bartender unless the situation is right on his doorstep, or involves everyone on a scale large enough to warrant it. Such as a revolution round and being recruited, or a nuclear merc round where everyone's trying to escape or such. I'll be playing a mix of the two, as odd as it sounds. They'll uphold regulations with a rather rigid stance given their programming but they do understand situations may warrant certain things. If someone was breaking into EVA while a Malf AI was siphoning everywhere, they'd probably ignore it, likewise if there is no medical staff and a miner fell and they're trying to get in to medical. If common sense dictates it, they'll probably be lenient. Not so much for stupid reasons or trivial things, however, like a chef breaking into the bar to get a drink or similar things. I do suppose that does tie in with the second question quite well. They were mostly crowd control as the backstory implies, but they worked towards being more sociable and friendly so they could attempt to work in the club itself rather than just out the front with the constant drunks. Thus they'd be friendly while working as a bartender or when needed as an officer, comforting or trying to persuade of course. However, they can be quite 'distant' when handling stupidity or violent offenders since their programming called for handling such people with efficiency from a corporate view of getting trouble-makers out of the club quickly so more paying patrons could enter. Of coruse that can be toned down a bit by saying NanoTrasen didn't want such behaviour with all arrests, so it'd depend on the severity. A drunken brawl compared to an active shooter would net different reactions really. -
This is why I suggested an alteration to the current server's theme, more akin to the old Clockwork than the new wave-defense of the updated one.
-
I've interacted with Matt a few times in the game, mostly antag situations but outside of that his characters seem great and he's a blast to roleplay with. I think he'd be able to tackle playing a Vaurca quite easily, and probably better than I can. Hah. Definitely a +1 from me. I hope to see you playing a buggo-boy soon.
-
I suggested this a few years back but no one was really onboard and Nanko didn't want to attempt to port it, so I've reopened it again in an attempt to see if it's a thing people are interested in. I suggest that we import the Clockwork Cult from the /tg/ basis with some obvious modifications. The first should be removing the defense-wave method and stick to the original vibe of RTS building and resource production. I believe that the clockwork cult would be superior for both roleplay and gameplay reasons. The cult still involves forced conversion and the like but it builds upon it by allowing the element of constructing further structures, specializing structures and areas for specific roles. Another key element is production, you can't simply pump out runes and structures like crazy, you need to produce certain resources to build things, allowing production facilities to be set up. They have their own version of constructs but are more limited in it, which is fine. I think possibly changing the 'war-mode' borg-golem to being a construct may be also a good idea along with the Maruarder and Scarab. A thing that would be a massive help I believe would be the fact you can convert AIs and stationbounds - probably adding IPCs into that mix - this helps further possible roleplay by allowing the inclusion of non-organics beyond just flashing and destroying them. Perhaps even giving benefits to having more, and strengthing them. Obviously, people may be on the fence about porting another cult, so what I suggest are four options. 1. We add it alongside normal cult so it can be randomly rolled. 2. We replace the current cult with it. 3. We make it so when the cult is rolled it's a 50/50 chance of either blood or clockwork. 4. We make it so cult needs more players but spawns both blood and clockwork in alar crossfire style. The wiki link to it can be found here if anyone wishes to read up on it. https://tgstation13.org/wiki/Clockwork_Cult

BYOND Key: CommanderXor Character Names: Sean Richter, Edward Cane, Rosey Woods, Jackson Holiday, O.I.U-156, Romeo Patton, Ka'Akaix'Vizea C'thur, Ka'Akaix'Mizor C'thur, Ka'Akaix'Yava C'thur, Ka'Akaix'Tela C'thur Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wish to play this race because I've dabbled with the idea of a synthetic and find it to be an interesting play style. Beyond the mechanical change of pace with a different set of 'needs' such as cooling and power, it has its benefits in a roleplay environment. People will treat you differently and you're expected to treat things differently. No longer dictated purely by emotions and the likes, but rather logic and a further heightened sense of preservation. There are many different ways to play them that makes me want to explore such routes to see what it is like. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well, there are two sides to the coin on how they are different to a human. There is the physical aspect, and then the mental aspect. A bit obvious example of how they differ from humans is obviously the robotic nature. They're not organic, they run on a positronic brain and an electrical charge rather than a metabolism and such. So you have to consider the vast differences required, they need to charge using cells, rechargers or APCs and must utilize a suit cooler for EVA operations. The various chassis have their benefits and downsides compared to other chassis and even organics. On the flipside, you have the mental aspect to consider. A robot compared to an organic is run by the 'cold' logic. Everything is a calculation to them. Cause and effect, will this be beneficial or harmful? Nothing to them is done on the spur of the moment because they 'felt' like it or because they were taunted, mocked or the like. Everything to them has a purpose. There are a great many quirks that can be done by an individual positronic depending on they were created. Some may be driven purely to sell things and business if they were, for example, a merchant based IPC. Some may be about upholding regulations or protecting the crew. Some may have personality quirks, such as being unable to speak contractions. Ultimately it comes down to how they were made and what influenced their 'growth'. Character Name: Talon Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Talon began its 'life' as a simple positronic brain within a robotics lab in Mendell. They were originally produced and bought for a bouncer detail outside one of Mendell's more upscale clubs utilizing a baseline chassis. They never met their owner due to the fact he oversaw the club from within the offices above it. Thus he mostly dealt with middle management and the likes in its day to day life. It dealt with a multitude of different species and people constantly filtering in and out during the nightlife. In the day, Talon spent its time either recharging or attempting to study more on certain subjects to help adapt to other roles, primarily interest being in mixology and various other drinks to help itself move in to work in the club itself rather than just the security detail. It carried on this routine day in and day out for a year and a half. Eventually, the management of the bar started to lose customers and money given a scandal involving drinks and vermin, cut-offs were made and the various staff was laid off and spending cut back. After much uncertainty, the manager of the nightclub filed for bankruptcy and tried to liquidate all assets. For a meager sum compared to the original design, Talon was auctioned off and acquired through the auction. Its new owner was some low-level paper pusher who contracted Talon through NanoTrasen to work as both security detail on installations, and as a bartender on the off-hours. Thus, Talon began to look towards its new life of working in security and mixology, and the possibility to work for its freedom once more. What do you like about this character? I like the new method of character, being owned. The fact all its actions will relate to surviving, and ultimately making enough money to break free from its owner and become independent. Beyond that, I do like the more civil upbringing, no military or the likes, just a bouncer trying to make meets end before being cut off and sold like cattle. I like the fact that when I do play them I would have to think about everything like a calculator, to dictate what and what I should do and when. I think it'll be a new playstyle that will be interesting to tackle along with the mechanical differences. How would you rate your role-playing ability? As stated in my Vaurcae application, my roleplay abilities differ based on the situation and scenario. I love to detail out actions on things like the Clockwork Half Life 2 RP gamemodes where serious, text-driven RP is called for. While on Aurora and other High-Roleplay SS13 servers I let the actions speak for themselves while complementing them using various actions and speech to help drive a story both as an antagonist and normal characters. I hope to improve it further while playing as various characters. Notes: I know that security characters tend to be very overdone and cliche in applications, IPCs included, but I feel like I can tackle the situation and make it work without being a cliche security-bot.

[Denied] CommanderXor's CCIA Application

I don't really where you went with this, this just gives me vibes of mentality that a person cannot accept being wrong. When facts were pointed, you claimed that staff were doing something wrong by defending their actions. Not to mention going on about how I don't care. Now, I'm not saying this from a personal basis, but rather how this displays certain qualities that you have. You're stubborn, and not in the good way, since you can't seem to accept being wrong. This is further reinforced by the fact you disappear every time you find something to go on an outrage over. The fact it's been a while since your last entry is mostly due to the fact you say you quit, disappear for a long while and then come back. I can understand where you're coming from with that. My ban history isn't that clean compared to other people and I do have a large number of staff entries, but I didn't mention the staff entries since the application asks for bans and doesn't mention staff notes. It may seem like I'm stubborn given that history and previous things on the forums but I've cut back on that after having had a good look over everything when I came back. I came back around February, maybe earlier? That still has given me a good few months without any staff-notes or anything of the sort. To address the last entry part, I did state in my application that I rarely post on the forums unless I want/need to give input, hence why I don't have much of a active post history. Fair point, but I have been attempting to improve upon anything like that and remained neutral in my interactions when I played Head of Security/Captain/Chief Medical Officer. It may not seem like it at a glance but I can easily swap to a 'work-mode' and remain unbiased, neutral and generally level-headed. I often did it while I played as my captain and Chief Medical Officer, barring that one incident of course that you mentioned earlier where the withdrawal of the whitelist made me bring it to the forums where I didn't put my words in play too well. Fair enough. I'll leave it open anyway until someone either puts it on trial or denies it. Thanks for the feedback though. Might be able to apply again on the next intake after I get some more time under the belt without any incidents. Cheers again. -

Bloody hell, what the hell happened to this thread while I was asleep? I don't have any issue with Daniel ICly with what he does non-antagonist involved wise, but the moment an antagonist is involved he starts hunting for em. Maybe I don't see him interact with people a lot because I patrol a lot more than I stand around the brig, but I'm leaving this to the staff to look over the various logs to try and pinpoint anything concrete at the moment to help with this complaint. Several people have testified on my points, albeit there are others who have testified against it as well. Right now, I'm concerned with the valid hunting and his toxic OOC behavior rather than the sanity/believability of his character. Probably best to let the staff handle it from here on out. -

You can't just claim that it wouldn't have possible fallout. If the assistant was returned they would have given a description of the shuttle, the interior and what we looked like without the armor on. This would have given authorities more fuel to hunt the group down. If we killed the only witness to those and hid them away, we would get a massive head-start in escaping any authorities and not to mention the lack of any witnesses to what we looked like and what the ship looked like. I didn't kill someone for the sake of it, I thought about the possible IC fallout of what would happen realistically if we let them go. Security was low-pop yes, but literally, every single one of them was armed with some form of weapon. The armory wasn't fully looted as we saw security staff with an ion, carbines, and shotguns. Not to mention there was still the laser rifles left behind from when we had to pull out. It wasn't like they were gimped, they could have taken other EVA gear if need be. Do you have any proof behind that statement? Because it's pretty bold to claim. I don't kill a lot in gamemodes unless the gamemode calls for it such as ling, or if I am attacked. I prefer taking hostages/messing with victims than outright removing them from the round unless there is a valid reason - such as the one for the hostage we had - for taking them out of it. -

I apologize to a majority of the characters I kill OOCly after the round ends. Because even when it's justified it's still taking a player out of the round for an hour to two hours. It isn't some admission of guilt thing, I do it both to antags I kill and people I kill as antag. If I kill you I'm likely going to apologize if you RPed with me rather then wordlessly shooting. The other day I apologized to a detective for murdering him with high explosive in the middle of a manhunt after an hour of RP. I lasered a traitor to death? I apologize. It's not an admission of guilt, it's me trying to be a decent person. You can people I interact with a lot and they'll often say I apologized for killing them or harming them. You answered a portion of what I said, not all of it. What did killing him offer the round? How did you deciding to kill them then and there have any infulence on Roleplay or story development? You killed them, came back on the shuttle then LOOC'd your deed. You did not even tell the rest of the crew you had done this. To you this player, and their character, were entirely expendable for the sake of your want to kill someone that round, something you were deprived off when Dante, the Detective we engaged, was not killed but detained and given back. As I addressed in the earlier reply of mine, I killed them for the development of the story. If I returned them to security, security would likely begin asking why we had taken a hostage or even start attempting to go on the offensive. If we disregard that, there is also the in-character consequences. The hostage in question had seen what the exterior and interior of the ship had looked like and had seen some of us without armor on. This means that they could relay that information to the authorities and there would be a man-hunt - possibly - for the description of them and the ship compared to just a vague description of armored persons. Not to mention the entire reasoning with the Lii'dra and how they view people as either tools to be used and discarded or pests to be crushed. The hostage had no use to them and was ultimately a liability if returned alive, which is why they were killed. You say I didn't tell the rest of the crew that I had killed the person, why exactly would I publically tell them I had killed a hostage that they had no clue existed in the first place? The entire point in silencing the hostage was to ensure there was no trail that could lead back to identify us. -

You can claim that you're in the right for your actions because they were 'ordered' but a lot of the time even without orders you still leap the gun and go straight for lethals/valids. The Vampire incident, for example, the Head of Security wasn't able to communicate with you, yet you still went straight for harmbatoning. The merc round earlier you were given permission to use lethal force if needed against the antags. Yet the moment you saw us for the first time you didn't say anything but began wordlessly shooting them both until they died. You didn't roleplay with them at all besides killing and then gloating about it over the common channel like Daniel is a psychopath. In regards to the ahelps, they're commonly 'handled' and then I am informed to make a player complaint if the behavior continues or if I disagree with it, hence why I am making this complaint because it has become a recurring issue. -

It's not an admission of guilt, it's me trying to be a decent person. You can people I interact with a lot and they'll often say I apologized for killing them or harming them.
