  1. I, Sean Richter, Warden Level One, Security, would like to register my interest in this gathering.
  2. I think it should be a thing, but, be realistic. It should depend on the situation. A entire security team decked out in heavy gear with rifles, along with ERT and mech support against like a lone wizard or traitor who is wounded? Should be able to surrender, might be if the odds are very much not in their favour, or they require medical aid like surgery or such. Not just willy nilly because they wanted to. Or, if it helps keep their cover. Cult surrendering so they can help people in communal, or a traitor taking a few minutes in the brig for contraband over a pistol instead of rushing off and opening fire and getting HuT'd.
  3. As far as I can recall loyalty implants simply ensure that you are acting in mind of the company. Doesn't mean any sort of behaviour or such should diminish, just means you'll try to do what NanoTrasen would like, rather then what ever you want.
  4. It almost sounds like you're overqualified. Oh yes. Because if I know how to run a brig and build some fortfications and handles wires, there is no way in hell I would know how to operate a camera or use the newscaster (Which is apart of the Warden's job, actually. D-Class notices and all.) or how to pour drinks for people. Good lord, you know some people have multiple jobs? I've heard plenty of people working as bartenders in their free time or becoming a armature journalist.
  5. Good lord no. This feels like it would utterly butcher any sort of fun. I play a combat engineer. So naturally I play in security. When ever security is filled I either play a journalist or a bartender. With this I'd be forced to literally spectate a entire round when the game throws me out for having a Warden+Officer slot filled. This will make the game boring and make people miss out on rounds.
  6. Gonna vote on the later, if the authority is extended to Warden. Because right now the way I see this happening is some shitter is going to ahelp the moment it's breached claiming some reason or another that it's unfair. Otherwise I'm all for it.
  7. I had to ahelp about this same guy last round. I got a broken rib cage and had internal injuries. I was waiting in the lobby for several minutes until we had to laser the windows to get him to respond. His response was then to push me in to medical instead of getting me a roller, despite me screaming at him to stop. I ended up going in to crit only for him to then drop me and leave me in the care of a miner while he ran off. I spent the next twenty minutes stuck in crit and even post-round because he nearly killed me and left me for dead after doing it.
  8. So, out of curiosity, what do you guys think of Sean Richter? My ATLAS Warden. Who doesn't really support some of ATLAS' polices...you get the deal anyhow. What do you lot think of him? Good stuff? Bad stuff?
  9. BYOND key: CommanderXor Character names: Sean Richter, Jackson Holiday, Edward Cane How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since late 2016ish. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I want to be able to play as Head of Security and later on as Captain on the Aurora because I want to be able to help increase the round's enjoyability by having a Command member on lowpop and be able to influence the round and help guide it towards something enjoyable for all parties. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to Aurora because I've always enjoyed serious and heavy roleplay and the setting of Space Station 13 was always a fun thing to dabble in. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. Has to be at least 30 along with several years in the field of their department along with a degree. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay, as the name suggests, should be about taking on a role, defining it and sticking to it. If you play as a security officer who has a certain soft spot for something, you should play it out and actually oblige by your personal 'ruleset' you've set out for your character. You have to think about what they would do and stick to it strictly. Roleplay in the end should help drive forward both a story, and a form of entertainment. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: A Head of Staff, OOCly is there to ensure that the round can progress alongside antag gimmicks, while it isn't always needed for a antag gimmick, it can greatly increase the possibility for it to include more people if it is opened up. A Ninja round might end sooner if a security officer takes the matters in to his own hands to enforce security regulations for a trespassing person, while a Head of Security may organise something with the ninja and give others some more character development and fun in the round. In Character a head of department is there to ensure that their department is following standard protocol and its actually doing their job. They are there to run their department as best as possible and get the most out of their work ethic. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The OOC responsibilities of a whitelisted player, I believe, would be to ensure that they are there to help further the round and ensure that when possible, everyone has a good time. They are there as an example for others to look to a degree for roleplay and how they act. As such, they should not mess around and break rules, but rather help guide people ICly and OOCly. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Sean Richter Character age: 36 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Sean Richter had for the most part grown up standard, showing a passion in the fields of history and old Sol/Earth culture. He was born as a Germanic-Irishman in Ireland. Having attended schooling until finishing Year 12, he set off to join the Sol's armed forces. He was deployed as a soldier in his home country for about eight years as he took up a combat engineering career pathway. He saw real action a few times from terrorists and insurrectionists a few times but escaped rather unscathed physically and mentally. Following the several years he worked as a combat engineer, he was reassigned as apart of a Riot Control unit, for ten years he worked as it. Rarely being deployed to the relative stable nature of Europe at the time. While apart of it he learned even further things, and put his skills from the armed forces to use. The mixture of his military and security work allowed him to seek out a contract with NanoTrasen as a brig warden. Since 2457 he has been employed as a warden aboard it. He's a member of the ATLAS part and has been assigned to the NSS Aurora and the NSS Exodus during his services. What do you like about this character?: I like Richter because he is one of my more developed characters, compared to the others I play him more as an actual person rather then just myself. I believe that I've struck a likeable character that is not picked apart and hated by many both ICly and OOCLy. I've advanced him through several months of play and have made him in to a character that I enjoy, that I look back on and play with the fruits of my labour. What do you dislike about this character?: Some of the things I dislike about Richter is that I feel like he doesn't have a place set out for him, he teeters on the edge of either falling in to a human-first kind of person, or a equal settings person. This means that several times I've had to retcon things about him or play him out differently depending on the situation. I think that I have to nail down his stance on several issues and perhaps refine a few more of his characteristics as they tend to differ depending on the situation. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: I believe Richter would make a good Head of Security because he has shown himself to be reliable as both a interim Head of Security and as a general 'second in command' style person. He has shown the ability to follow regulations and ensure situations are resolved. I believe that with his personality it could create an interesting experience for players that have not been seen before due to his political beliefs and the fact he has a general different 'vibe' to his personality and self. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: My own roleplay, I like to think, is well versed and detailed. I've spent several years in roleplay starting in around 2012 when I started playing CW:HL2RP on Garry's Mod. While I enjoy large actions, it seems that a lot seems to be lost in it when mechanics in game take over parts. I'd love to write actions on how I load my weapon and such as I use to in more serious roleplay, but it tends to get swept under the rug in the heat of action. My issues with roleplay are the fact that characters seem to reflect on how I want them to at the time, instead of always defining a personality. Meaning one day he might act different to the next day without any other reason besides feeling like it. Extra notes: None.
  10. Given the fact that I have not been, ahem, thinking well with the stress of tests and all I've realised I may or may not have been a bit...immature on trying to chase after a non-existent issue. Requesting this be locked/denied/whatever.
  11. While I may have left the server, I believe that your aggression/slight bias is still an issue and would like this to remain open until the higher administration have reached what ever verdict they've deemed necessary.
  12. The ban is temporary and is in no way forcing you to withdraw this application. I don't plan on returning.
  13. So Delta decided to ban me for two days in the middle of an ahelp instead of finishing it up. Asked a question and instead of answering it, he decided to close the ahelp by banning me. If anyone could get the logs, please?
  14. Have to withdraw his application since I was banned by staff.
  15. The issue is, blink is broken as fuck when upgraded. You literally -can not kill them-. They teleport literally every second, the smoke lags the shit out of your game and you can't even move your mouse to click before they teleport away.
  16. You were teleporting faster then I could move my mouse to shoot you. Much less actually pull the trigger. Cripes.
  17. We can see the exact same beret on a person from the reference image. Literally typed 'black paramilitary beret' (Since I didn't want stuff like the SAS from WW2) and posted what I found. Nothing to do with the IRA ICly.
  18. Again, it's not a IRA beret. It's a black beret with a damn flag pin on it. You're jumping to conclusions here. At no point have I even mentioned the IRA in my application.
  19. Richter was born on Earth. Your last paragraph can easily be explained as a reason. I simply said he had it so he could remember old times. Which, can easily be exactly remembering Earth's old cultures. This isn't a IRA beret though. It's a simple black beret with a tri-colour pin. It makes sense for him to 'catch a 400 year old reference' because he learned his country's history. Like most people, at school you learn about your country, normally in depth.
  20. So you're telling me, if I have a background with something similar to his, I would be allowed to break the validhunting rules and chase down an antag? Because that is what he did, hear me out. You tell me he stumbled upon me accidentally. The first time, yes. I can agree that really wasn't valid hunting since he arrived on the scene and was startled. But the second time was purely out to kill me. He flanked around through a tunnel to appear at my back, and as you can see by logs, he came up behind me and tried to kill me. This was when he threw away his weapon and was unarmed, besides a plasma cutter. The first time was okay, the second time, where he threw away any sense of believability just to charge head long in from behind to try and kill the antag. That second time, is validhunting. I'd like to also bring up the fact that Delta is getting more and more rude to people. In previous threads he has gone so far as been passive aggressive, like the Hunter thread where he decided to post a 'meme' picture, in what looked like a attempt to ridicule him. Then there is passive aggressive stuff ingame, like this, that was over a joke. I should note that comment was made in response to you and Incog repeatedly making the joke that my character was a trap. You personally went so far as to refer my character as if they were a "he" in IC. It was more obnoxious and immature than it was funny and I suggested you get a grip rather than letting your "jokes" seep into IC, as the joke made was inappropriate and not humorous in the slightest. That comment was also made in an entirely different round from the one this complaint is being made. Thanks for taking that out of context entirely, I see you're definitely trying to display me in a very honest light. Also, I was asked to not post those lines of "meme pictures" in complaints from now on and I have abided by that. It also is completely irrelevant to the current issue, even in the matter of unprofessionalism because I still have not done anything along those lines since it happened. Do you honestly think that has any bearing on the complaint as it stands, though? You're just looking for reasons to make me look guilty when I literally did nothing that was wrong to begin with. The CE had adequate reasons beyond having a military background to shoot you dead. The sec team was incapacitated. They weren't even seeking you out to begin with and were following the lead of the head of security to kill you, which means they were asked to take up arms to help. So you got shot for being in one of the most centralized places in the station and you were a literal sitting duck to be taken out and neutralized. The fact you got killed was in fact, your fault, for many issues, the below three being the most prominent. 1.) Your team was identified as the terroristic element that took two officers out of commission in cargo. 2.) You taunted the station over comms making rather obvious WH40K references. I wanted to talk to you about that but another admin told me not to, then they went afk so nobody handled that issue. More added reason for the crew to want to kill you. 3.) You tunnelvisioned so hard to kill the Chief engineer when there was the hos right behind you shooting you with a gun while you were angrily chainswording the CE because you were pissed at them for "validhunting", apparently. You literally did nothing to interact with the crew for an hour and a half until you actually boarded the station as a mercenary and then got shot. You getting killed by the chief engineer and the head of security was the only notable thing you did the entire round, as you were more occupied with complaining about validhunting for the entire course of the round leading up to those events. AOOC logs can prove this. You've no idea how much biting irony there is here. Great taking things out of context yourself, I see the hypocrisy is not lost on you. The entire reason we bloody didn't do anything the entire round is because we didn't get to the station until a hour or so in because we got lost in space. You're making it seem like we stayed back and decided to just daunt things. You also say you were going to bwoink me for making 40K references? For Christ's sake, Catnip gave me a chainsword in exchange for TC for the gimmick. He even spawned in a labeller so we could label our weapons. The joke was both IC and OOC. It was hardly inappropriate, because hey, it was a IC thing. Every time I am on the server or forums you jump on my back trying to find every little reason to get me in trouble. You're extremely aggressive for a staff member, and that is honestly why this complaint was made. The Chief Engineer thing was the straw that broke the camel's back. Your behaviour in ahelps (With the Malf-AI incident, calling me shitcurity and a 'shameful' roleplayer being one. Let me quote here. '[Trial Moderator PM] OneOneThreeEight: mate. i imagine you think the display is fun for you but why exactly are you going rambo.' and others such as '[Trial Moderator PM] OneOneThreeEight: It's actually shameful. No, you are not some edgy badass who doesn't care about synthetic casualties, because they are still crew, and at the end of the day if you took actions that screwed over other crewmembers you are bad at your job.' and '[Trial Moderator PM] OneOneThreeEight: No, it is not an insult to say you're acting like shitcurity. Because this is generally what it is. You're not getting the message. You don't seem to care about what you did. You could've waited a few seconds to permit the CE to RCD some doors and force your folks' way into there. Instead, you decided to not use your head and act dumb. There's no reason to disobey an order from a head of staff. They know better. And you kinda displayed that you thought you did, but ended up creating more damage than actually helping. So, one second.' The complaint I am bringing up is that you're acting more and more hostile to people, both in L/OOC, forums, ingame and ahelps. The ahelp logs, the fact you literally look over every little thing to bring up, the fact you literally post on everything I post to try and counter it. (Literally everything I have posted recently, you've had a argument against. Application, this, etc.) It's clear as day you have it out for me, for some reason. Did I offend one of your characters so badly ICly that it smacked you in the face OOCly or something? Because you have shown me nothing but aggression since I have first talked to you.
  21. Nah, nothing to do with the IRA. Hell, I didn't even specific WHICH colours are on the pin. Literally just picked that reference image since it was the closet thing I could find to describe it.
  22. Seriously? It's not even related to the IRA vaguely? If it's only a Black Beret with an Irish flag pin attached, we're just derailing this thread over nothing, seeing as being Irish and proud is Not a crime. Nope, nothing to do with the IRA. Literally just a black beret with a flag pin on it.
  23. In previous threads he has gone so far as been passive aggressive, like the Hunter thread where he decided to post a 'meme' picture, in what looked like a attempt to ridicule him. Then there is passive aggressive stuff ingame, like this, that was over a joke.
  24. You do understand he isn't actually apart of the IRA, right? It's a simple black beret with a small pin on it. It's like what others do, it's a piece of made clothing, others dress up all the damn time. You have people dress up all the time in real life. By your own logic if NT wouldn't allow it, why would they allow someone to wear a NKA uniform where there is a active civil war that could easily cause conflict? Your own logic would apply to other items that have been accepted. You're forgetting this is a space man simulation game, if someone is offended by a bunch of pixels and some coding, then so be it. I highly doubt a item will cause such controversy unless it was indeed a actual Swastika armband. But hey, everyone treats ATLAS like Nazis as well, so we basically already have that. Honestly, I feel like you're coming in here to stir up a bunch of trouble because you don't like my characters nor my playstyle, fine by me. But don't let it cause you to shit all over something and try to find every little knook and cranney reason you can pull up to say 'NUH-UH, THIS IS A BADMAMN'. Because frankly it's childish. You're grabbing at the air for reasons here. Reasons they can easily be applied to past SUCESSFUL applicants. It's a beret with a Irish triflag pin on it. Nothing more, nothing less. No where in the post do I even MENTION the IRA. It's a black beret with a bloody tri-colour pin on it. It's like calling someone a Nazi because they wear a fieldcap just because the German Panzerkorps were known to wear them. It doesn't bloody make sense. The reference image is the only damn thing that even RELATES to Ireland.
