-1 tbh just complain to the captain or HoS, uniform laws fall under neglect of duty and they could get slapped.

Instead of anomalous artifacts, why not things from the original Aurora, or the Exodus? then again tbh i'd map this

I almost did, but the AI got to the door before medical and crushed me.

BYOND Key: sdtwbaj Staff BYOND Key: TheDocOct Game ID: i don't remember Reason for complaint: During the round, as a Captain I was taken hostage on the Bridge, and they had some clear demands. I had been telling someone to meet those demands, while generally being a good little hostage. A medical borg then started trying to inject me with a poison that would paralyze me, according to him. I stepped back from the injection, and a security borg started trying to flash me and handcuff me. The CMO advanced with her e-sword, and I ended up surrounded by a traitor sec officer, traitor CMO, and two subverted borgs. Given that it looked very much like they were about to brutally murder me, I took the way out that I had available, which was a disposals chute. I went down it, got bwoinked, we talked a bit, and then I got a warning, and I think that warning is a bit unwarranted, especially with the repercussions it can have as far as my whitelist. The warning was because jumping down disposals was effectively suicide, and that I didn't make an attempt to call up Security before I jumped down. As far as contacting Security goes, I was surrounded by four hostiles who were very close to me, I didn't particularly have time to call Security to anything meaningful, as I'd probably get wrecked while typing. He made the argument that no sane person would jump down disposals instead of leveraging themselves as a hostage, but what I don't think he had in mind was that; - They could easily get their demands without me, just with my ID. - I'd just been resisting some of their attempts at furthering me as a hostage. - It didn't exactly look like cooperation would help, since I had been cooperating, and they were still trying to do things like paralyze me. To me, it was a choice between die without getting much of a word off, and surrendering my equipment to them, or hop into disposals, talk as much as I can on the way down, and bank on surviving out the other side. It was a long shot as far as escapes go, but to myself and my character, it seemed like a better alternative for a person in her position. Evidence/logs/etc: none Additional remarks: I can understand Doc's reasoning here, but I think he was missing some crucial context in my decision.

-1 Sounds like it wouldn't make a good antag as is, it wouldn't offer much RP and would really just get ganked in the first ten minutes, unless it ganked first.

[Accepted] Urthrem - IPC Application
sdtwbaj replied to Urthrem's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
-1 As his Borg OOS, he tends to behave like a bit of a validhunter, and I don’t really think that a validhunter should be an IPC, simply because of how robust they are. -
BYOND Key: sdtwbaj Game ID: Many rounds. Player Byond Key: VaValor Staff involved: N/A Reason for complaint: Joe Vicks, as a character, is incompatible and unfit for NT, and would very likely be fired in a realistic scenario. I would file an IR, but there's been no canon rounds that I could file the complaint on, as he always somehow ends up intertwining it with antag actions. So, the gist of it is that Joe Vicks is an asshole. I don't say that lightly. Among other things, he's incredibly disrespectful and downright hostile to his peers, as well as disrespectful, disparaging, and adversarial toward Command staff, getting himself into hot water frequently. Personally, I've quit Security when I see him, just because I can't deal with the incessant drama, bickering, and bullshit that he brings to the department every time he's in a round. He disrespects the chain of command, lacks even a semblance of professionalism, and takes it upon himself to make denigrating remarks about his superiors, straight to their faces. To disregard their orders, to try to give them orders. He isn't compatible with any actual company, and I have the feeling he would be suspended or fired if he could be brought up in an IR. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? No. Approximate Date/Time: Since Joe Vicks was created, scattered over the last week or so.

b]BYOND Key:[/b] sdtwbaj Game ID: bRh-cQkV Player Byond Key: Urthrem Staff involved: Superiorform Reason for complaint: As a Raider in the round, I happened across the CE and proceeded to take her hostage. The borg OOS was creeping around the asteroid near me, I took a pot shot to scare him off, and brought the CE into the airlock of the raider ship, where they were laying there in an aggressive grab, while I had a laser rifle. While I'm cycling the airlock, OOS bumrushes me and gets a lucky RNG strike on me, knocking me over and beating me to death. My complaint here is that the borg rushed an adversary who very clearly had a head of staff hostage, and a very effective means to killing the head of staff, which to me seems like a violation of law 3. The borg did have default laws. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes, and I don't know. Approximate Date/Time: Nov. 4, 2017, around 3:30PM CST

[Denied] sdtwbaj CCIA Application
sdtwbaj replied to sdtwbaj's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
oh, i can't be both, oof. i'd say if mod gets denied then this. -
one thing that tg servers with aim mechanics have is a 2 or 3 second cooldown between initial aim and autofiring for anything, so you could aim at a moving target and wouldn't instantly open fire, a little 'grace period' of sorts. we could do that, just a sidenote.

but it's a very high chance to miss roundstart if we throw up an appearance screen when one gets merchant, it can be included while one is rolling for other jobs, to stop a roundstart fail.
-
Right now, merchants are rolled as a job roll, and you aren't allowed to have an employee character who's also a merchant. Therefore, if you select a merchant character, you can ready up *only* as a merchant. Then, the round only has a 20% chance of even spawning a merchant, and you're competing with the other people readied up as merchant, you have an exponentially higher chance of missing round start, and by extension making it that much less likely you could roll an antag slot, for station-side antags. Instead, make them a 'roles' ticker, along with all of the antags. Then, you can ready up as a normal character, and have merchant ticked on. Even if the round doesn't have a merchant, you have a higher chance of not missing roundstart because you readied up as a job that has a very small chance of actually existing, and you aren't allowed to spawn as an alternative. If this would be too fucky because dev reasons, throwing up a character modification screen for merchants when they spawn wouldn't be a bad alternative, like the one you get when you're a merc or wizard. That way, I can ready up as, say, Sam Caputo, but also have the merchant job turned on, so that if it happens to spawn and I get it, I can change it up to a merchant character. For most jobs this isn't necessary, because they're guaranteed to exist on-station, and you can even spawn as other jobs if your high priority fails. But, merchants only have a 20% chance of even being rolled as a job, and a merchant character can't have another occupation selected. Very high chance to miss round-start.

Makes his sales compatible with EFTPOS, the excuse could be for the sake of NT monitoring and things that it'd be looped through the station accounts, although it'd be part of directives not to actually touch that money. I +1

you imply that IT is a thing, or will ever be a thing. it's like newmap, it'll happen eventually, but it'll be a couple of years. in the mean time, this is a good stand in.

Work on computers, make devices with the new modular circuitry. RnD can produce components, and Robotics can produce parts for drones and things of the like, which is why have access to both.
-
basically a guy dedicated to working with electronics like computers, circuits, etc. access to both RnD and Robotics, but not telesci or any of the natural sciences areas. yes or yes?

Currently, job rolls will roll one character's job sheet, and then either make them an assistant, a random job, or return a player to the lobby. I propose we add a fourth option to that little 'if this fails' box, that option being 'consider THIS character instead'. For example, let's say we have Garn McGarn rolling for Captain and Head of Personnel, set to High and Medium. The roll happens, he doesn't get either job. He could either return to the lobby, OR with this new mechanic, he could ask that Abo Dabo be considered too. Here's a little flow chart. Garn McGarn has jobsheet Captain high and HoP med Abo Dabo has jobsheet HoS high and sec officer med. Garn McGarn is rolled for Captain - fails. Garn McGarn is rolled for HoP - fails. Abo Dabo is rolled for HoS - success. Basically, add an option to consider a second character if your first character doesn't get their job. That way, you're less likely to miss out on antag rolls and things like that, just because all of your job slots were taken, and you don't miss out on roundstart spawn goodies (like seclites, because detectives always fucking take them grr)

Aiming had a good execution before, but as a bullshit aimbot. To make DatBerry's solution a bit more intuitive, perhaps a 2 or 3 second cooldown between reflex shots with the little dialogue "re-steadies their aim" or something to that effect. Although the ability to toggle reflex shooting would be nice, to get around some of the aiming bullshit.

Just to post my own little thoughts to give the other side of some of this, and make it in the context of a head of staff situation. 1 - As far as briefings go, I frankly found that briefing to be one of the dullest. As a person who generally doesn't like briefings, and tends to go AFK or do something else while they're going on, I reflected that through Marcus--falling asleep because someone is droning at him, for ten minutes, at three in the morning, without any coffee. My campaign promise to anyone who reads these comments, is that if I ever do briefings, they'll be two minutes tops, or over the radio. I may not even do a briefing at all, as far as that goes. 2 - What some call unprofessional, others call sociable. Marcus, in his current getup, tends to be sociable, and can sometimes take to friendly ribbing on occasion. This is typically somewhat acceptable between people of somewhat equal stature, as Marcus and most of the station are now, but Marcus knows--and I know--that it's inappropriate in a manager-employee type relationship. 3 - Marcus witnessed the person passing pills around in the bar, and made this clear on the radio before the search, thereby a warrant wouldn't be required. 4 - An air alarm isn't a hard device to understand, since it isn't configuring specific pressures, it's tapping a button, with a self explanatory name and a description. 5 - The thought process was to punch out the window, get into the airlock, and open the doors from the controller, in the hope that the shuttle door would automatically open after the fact. Marcus wasn't about to breach the station, and this move was considered on the assumption that the doors were fully malfunctioning. On a final note, Marcus isn't necessarily the Head of Staff character I'm going to use, it was just suggested to me that I apply with him, since it might be easier to write that part of the application around him, given that my character sections have been rather poor in the past. Thanks for the feedback.
