Here is the issue. The ISD are meant to be Corporate Police. As Security you are literally a beat cop who has the same authority as a officer in Biesel when on duty on station. You don't see police officers running around with tactical headgear like this in person. Hell you don't see cops carrying around flashbangs on regular patrol. However the nature of what our ISD is guarding can provide allowances for upgrades in security measures. +1 if it is a limited quantity armory option -1 if it is something that every officer can have. I feel if this was the case it would only encourage ISD to literally have selective hearing and act more like a tacticool military then a police force.

I'm not REALLY going to comment on Unathi genitalia besides vague historical equivalences. Maybe I set the bad precedent by even daring to mention it. Currently there is no canon definition of what Unathi genitalia is. Jackboot continues to, and I will double down on this, deny to define it. I refuse to simply to respect Jackboot and his refusal to do so. (Although I believe shying away from the topic simply creates it's own problems.) I have my own head canon on how it works, and surely you do too. Nonetheless the intention was to dramatically prove how far they are willing to perfect themselves to how they feel their spirit is. There is still noticeable dymorphism they can seek to change, like hip size and muzzle shape. (This is a reference to Chinese foot bindings and wrappings.) They do not believe in a centralized god like Sk'akh worshipers do. They will be an offset of Th'akh thought and concepts. Believing in a general spirit world, and those that remain in it enlightened and in a state of total harmony are those who achieve total harmony and self-actualization in life. The religion is intended to be SUPER old, and eventually found it's own way. Their major differences to Sk'akh would likely bring them at end to each other, among other things I don't want to spoil.

Greetings players! I am the Unathi Lore Deputy, Tomiix! Known as TomiixStarslasher in game, and most well known for playing Azala Huz'kai. (Formerly Azala Guwan) One of my stated goals as a Unathi Developer is giving the unathi homeworld more life and definition. I have been recently working on a whole new faction that is going to have some sub-factions. While talking them out with Jackboot we reached a point in my ideas that stubbed our collective idea toe... sorry for the weird analogy. It was a note that we felt might not be something the players would be entirely happy with. SO, while trying to be VERY VAGUE to not spoil SUPER COOL PLOT I would like to poll the playerbase, Unathi players or not about how they feel about this topic. As a disclaimer, people who play unathi's opinion will be weighed more, of course. Though all input is appreciated. If you are going to give feedback, please be familiar with the Unathi lore... if you aren't your feedback will be hard to receive. It would also help me very much if you let me know if you play Unathi and if you do... who you play as! These things aside, let's get into the pitch. When making new factions and nations of people, something that naturally comes up is new religions. At least one of our sub-factions is going to have a new religion. It has origins in Th'akh thought but has become different enough over time to now be it's own thing. They believe that the soul is perfect, and that the body is quite literally just an imperfect vessel for the soul. That you need to develop your body to be worthy of the soul that contains it. They are the first group to actually believe in reincarnation, and that the spirit realm has a nirvana for those who are able to become balanced in all ways. While those on the path are reincarnated into new bodies, those who lead away from it find their spirits blessing the objects of those on the path. Or if you try to hinder those on the path, you become a bane on the world in the spirit realm. One of their main controversial points, and the one I wanted to bring up to you, is their stance on synthetics. They will be the first Unathi faction, and only Unathi religion totally hunky-dory with Prosthetics and Synthetics. Here is their reasoning - They view their bodies as vessels, and that is it. They are highly spiritual, and wish to hone their bodies to live up to their spirit. If a part of their body is destroyed, they cannot let that get in their way of perfecting themselves. So they opt to have prosthesis specially designed to be a temple for that part of their soul. While they prefer to have it be natural, they view this as a satisfactory option. - They view Synthetic beings as useful tools. One of their leaders and main practitioners would need to pass on his secret knowledge, and techniques. So he had a Shell designed to look like him, and studied his behavior, took in his knowledge, and learned his techniques, so that it could pass it on for generations to come. These beings are blessed and are believed to house the spirits of these teachers at times. These are rarely applied however, and are still rare to find. They arent treated as people, and the before mentioned shell would have markings similar to a tag designating him as a shell. However they wouldn't mind IPC's coming into their borders, and would even believe that some of them are vessels that are housing a reincarnated soul. The aforementioned shell is revered as a teacher and considered a animated shrine to their old teacher. So this is my first question, what do you feel about this? Do you think it would be fitting for a Unathi faction to be okay with prosthesis and synths in these fringe cases, and could believe that they could be home to a soul like a weapon could? Another idea I had for them, but was not sure if the player-base would receive it is a bit more adult in nature. In an attempt to touch and build on a doctrine Jackboot implemented recently determining how Unathi feel about souls that are gendered differently from their bodies, this faction would have a weird stance on it as well. - (Nothing to see here, it just derailed the conversation and is too gross for the community apparently. I'm gonna focus on the prosthesis and synthetics) Please feel free to leave thoughts about this as a comment response, please do specify what you are commenting on for clarity.

There is no harm done, I did not take the response personally. I am dropping the visitor thing, from everything I have access to I believe now that you were an assistant. I will let the other moderators and administrators discuss and think about the use of force towards Shoshanna during that incident, but I find your reasoning sound enough, I personally have no issue dropping this warning now. Thank you for complaining, it has already helped me tremendously.

Clan Mothers Across Ouerea Ask “What About the Hatchlings?” Editors note: Translated to Basic by human Sinta'Unathi linguist. Recently, clan mothers among settlements on Ouerea have begun organizing into groups to have meetings they call Women’s Councils. It is believed that the trend began in response to rising concerns for the safety of the children of Ouerea. A steadily rising Guwan population, failing infrastructure, lowered funding of public services, and raised taxes. This has culminated into one of the largest gatherings of women seen in recent history. yesterday in Kr’ath. Organizational leader, volunteer and clan mother of clan Kev’vi, Elistra Kev’vi called it ‘The First Gathering of Gentle Souls.’ Thousands of women and hundreds of men gathered to hear the proposals. New mother and volunteer Jessika Kluvax added on to this point. Kluvax's remarks left the crowd stunned, and started many arguments. A large amount of Unathi in attendance remember life on Moghes, before the contact war. Overlord Tarkart Yiztek, when asked for comment, had this to say. Organizer Kev’vi was not so convinced, posting over the Ouerean social media network Ouerea Now. Now that Ouerea is less than a month away from its twenty-second anniversary, and two years into establishing Izweski Hegemony structure. It is yet to be seen how long it will take for the populace to finally adapt and relearn its proper ways.

Hey there Azande! I am sorry that you have a complaint, I will be responding to this complaint as the primary trial moderator who was asked to investigate this incident. This is my first complaint (and first investigation), so pardon rough edges in my response as I detail to you the problematic issues that came up that we as a team discussed. Because although it was me and you who talked primarily in admin pm's, we had a rather long conversation during the investigation process, which caused the delay at the end of the round as well. I will address your concerns point by point, with what I could recover from the logs, in the scope of trying to alleviate your main complaint, which you list as "For TomiixStarSlasher, this complaint is targeting their utter failure to write a warning even somewhat matching the incident that occurred, and failure to properly investigate an incident or understand how command and security work." So let's get right into it. Going to the situation, where your Head of Security notes that Ellie is in danger, and orders you to get her out. I found that flashing her and moving her was appropriate, reasonable, and believable. As you were removing her from immediate harm. I was unable to during the round find any indication that you were ordered by your Head of Security to detain Shoshanna. As when I had asked both the warden and the head of security if they had, they claimed they did not. Now that I have the full log and I am actually able to search it I can see you were ordered to detain her. We have a persistent issue with security thinking that it has domain over command members, and I apologize for not bringing this under consideration. It was me still being rusty with checking a increasingly frustrating chat tool. I am not going to say that a Head of Personnel had any business attempting a hostage negotiation. However this is not the forum to speculate her behavior, more so how you handled it in response. A major part of this warning was you acting outside of your jurisdiction and without any proper orders before detaining a command level staff member, and then stealing property from her to gain access to an area you should not of had access to to confront an antagonist. This new information alone is enough in my opinion to lower the severity of the warning. I missed the needle in the haystack as it were. This was not helped by as you admitted by yourself, sarcastic and toxic responses to my questions. [03:34:59] bSo-ap4a ADMIN: PM: TomiixStarslasher/(Azala Huz'kai)->XanderDox/(Klaus Eliade): Hey there, can you explain why as a non-antagonist you are attacking a head and stealing their ID? [03:35:36] bSo-ap4a ADMIN: PM: XanderDox/(Klaus Eliade)->TomiixStarslasher/(Azala Huz'kai): I took her ID once, then dropped it, we were ordered to detain her because she was walking into an armed hostage situation like a dumb bitch. I took her ID to open one bridge door so I could break the captain out to safety. [03:37:01] bSo-ap4a ADMIN: PM: TomiixStarslasher/(Azala Huz'kai)->XanderDox/(Klaus Eliade): Can you tell me who gave you this order? [03:37:26] bSo-ap4a ADMIN: PM: XanderDox/(Klaus Eliade)->TomiixStarslasher/(Azala Huz'kai): Who do you THINK. My head of staff obviously. The decision to save the captain with her ID however was mine. I was not going to argue semantics with you during an investigation, but I want to let you know now that 'Can you tell me who gave you this order' is a valid one when you have two command level people who can give you orders on the station, and it was also possible that an antagonist had ordered you to do something, and some other roleplay that I was not aware of occured. Especially when I wasn't watching the conflict play out, and your information can help me more accurately find what I need in the logs. The sarcasm was not necessary. I was prepared to have a decent sized conversation where I attempted to collect your side of the story, and that may not of led to this confusion at all, but you made it clear you weren't interested. [03:54:09] bSo-ap4a ADMIN: PM: TomiixStarslasher/(Azala Huz'kai)->XanderDox/(Klaus Eliade): Hey, mind if we talk a bit about the incident with Shoshanna? [03:54:23] bSo-ap4a ADMIN: PM: XanderDox/(Klaus Eliade)->TomiixStarslasher/(Azala Huz'kai): considering I was not in the wrong at all and talking with admins via ahelp crashes me, yes.. This, followed by other concerning behavior during the round lead me to give the warning that I did. I will get back to that concerning behavior in a moment. The warning was edited by myself to fix inaccuracies, including the fact that you didn't take the telescopic baton from Shoshanna. Now that I am able to take into account your side of the story, and have access to the logs that I have, I can agree that your escalation of force was warranted up until the point where you batoned Shoshanna. Unless you can provide clearer thought process into what you thought was going on in that moment. Attacking a department head without being ordered to is a big no-no, and should not be done so casually, especially when you are not an antagonist. Realistically, if you see someone who is superior to you carrying away your leader, would the first appropriate reaction be to attack and restrain them? Security does not have jurisdiction over command members. This is something that could of been resolved in much better ways, but instead you forced the issue with what other moderators who were paying attention at this point considered an unrealistic escalation. If more experienced moderators or admins would like to chime in on if they feel this is appropriate or not, they may do so. During this round, both yourself and Shoshanna had also taken part of behavior that also is against regulations for characters in game, that being the promotion of a visitor to a command/security role during a non station critical emergency. Why this exchange occurred would also be something I would appreciate you clarifying, as you should not of been security during this round at all in the first place. In summary, and a TL;DR of sorts, following the points of your complaint. - The warning was NOT 100% accurate to the actual events that occured. I have already made efforts to edit it to be more accurate, however the main issue, the use of the telebaton is still in question. - The incident was investigated to the best of my ability, human error simply caused me to miss a key single line of text that changes the severity of the warning. I apologise for this. - I feel that my understanding of command and security policy is not in question here, more so yours. Please explain why you were security in the first place, and more reasoning behind your use of the telebaton against Shoshanna to make it seem like a reasonable escalation. If you are able to do so, and if other staff members agree, then I would have to agree with you, and have the warning removed. I do not want you to think that Shoshanna is not being looked into, as I finish typing this I will be looking into the logs and the behaviour of Shoshanna during this incident as well, however will not further discuss the issues with her play, as this isn't the goal of this discussion. Moreso your warning and my treatment of it.

[Denied]Tomiix's Tajara Application
Tomiix replied to Tomiix's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
He was repressed up until the point he found himself surrounded by species that couldn't give a shit. Leading to him feeling more comfortable with himself. I do not mind the fact that he will have issues with some of the crew. I thought I made it clear my understanding that the Tajara population as large doesn't approve through the fact that I said he was repressed, and that he had to use secret handsigns known by closet homosexuals that allow them to greet each other secretly. (Reminisant of work arounds human homosexuals had to do historically) This is the character I want to play with, and I am aware of the conflicts he would create with his fellows. -

How much time can you dedicate to lore development? Can you provide development or activity at least semi-regularly on a weekly basis? I can help contribute development on a weekly basis. I am starting school soon but I am trying to devote time to creative endeavours and trying to get myself developing healthy habits and hobbies besides just gaming, so creative writing seems just up that ally. What do you like most about the Unathi lore, and why? I secretly hate Unathi, and this has all been a long con to destroy them from within. I enjoy the concept of a species that has been so negatively impacted by human contact. The story of the Unathi and the contact war is a good lesson about how raising these people up and then attempting to abuse them for their resources has terrible consequences. I am also a big fan of Asian and Native American culture, and Unathi has that sprinkled throughout their lore and story. Finally, although the theme has been mixed, and their ability sometimes inconsistent, I enjoy the idea of exploring a post-apocalyptic society right next door to a Hegemony that is doing it's best to hold on to the old world and its power. I already have a ton of ideas, some I haven't even shared yet. What do you think is the weakest part(s) of Unathi lore, and how would you change it? The weakest part of Unathi lore, I like to split into a few categories. - A lack of diverse character opportunities. Part of this is the playerbases problem, wherein they are actively choosing to have in the box thinking, and are making Unathi who all seem alike. However part of the blame can be shared with the developer and the way Unathi have been presented. A common grievance from non-unathi players (who are just as affected by unathi as the unathi players) is that they all seem alike. That creation and individuality is stifled because of their strict society. The main reason being that travel from Moghes is restricted to the Hegemony, making it difficult for Unathi players to find reasonable ways to play in the wasteland space. Ouerea also currently feels like Moghes 2.0, and your Unathi is from there if they are somewhat out of the status quo, but are still heavily restricted by feudal society and expectations. I hope that through clever writing, expansion of and better access to Moghe's wasteland and a better defined Ouerea will allow people the freedom to make more diverse Unathi. Edit: Also, because of the Hegemony being the focus, we get a lot more Sk'akh then we do Th'akh, and we lose out on the native american influences that are interesting. - Unathi are too good I know this seems ironic and misplaced in the 'Unathi weakest parts' section, but Unathi seem too good at what they do. I know you hate hearing about this event that is now two years old, but for a post-apocalyptic wasteland planet, the Unathi seem to have unreasonably adjusted well to space faring and modern technology. Having a relatively good sized fleet and having successfully fought off the Federation and Alliance. Also as a consequence of the species that you have the most control over, you experiment with the species more since you have the liberty to, causing some events, some of which have been retconned, to not sit well with people. Namely psionics. Also just stats wise Unathi until recently were too good. No other species can just break cuffs like they do, Unathi resistances are REALLY good, with no good weaknesses to balance it out. Cold weakness only applies on a handful of places on the station, and alcohol poisoning only comes up if the Sinta in question is too stupid to remember alcohol is toxic. While heat resistance applies in critical situations like fires and station heating, and brute resistance helps with the basic forms of combat. The best armor in the game, and something that is ONLY available in the vault is not only a Unathi invention, but is ONLY usable by Unathi. I hope to help provide perspective and scale Unathi back to a degree that is reasonable, and centralize their themes between the two planets. While still providing interspecies conflicts that takes inspiration from the Tajaran environment. Since they are ALSO an elevated species that still maintains interest and intrigue without having to be involved in the galactic theater. What are the primary themes or undertones that you get from the Unathi as a species? Currently Unathi are best known for their warrior culture, heavy respect for their ancestors, elders, and religion, and their honor codes. Currently Unathi feel like lizard Klingons, while interesting themes like the consequences of the contact war, namely the wasteland is largely ignored. For perspective this is what the planet looks like right now. The only Unathi we seem to hear or see from are Unathi from the Hegemony or Ouerea. Because of the current story and access that is for good reason. We almost never hear about the issues with the Wasteland unless it is in small reference to something else. These Unathi have no access to the Hegemony, and therefore space. Making it unseen on the station, and therefore not thought about by the community. We had a conversation I will keep private about ideas for where Ouerea could be going, and those themes are also interesting for me to expand upon. What scope do you see Unathi taking in the galaxy as a whole? A much smaller scope then they currently do. I can see Unathi economically being a great trading partner, and something that megacorporations continue to have a vested interest in attempting to influence. However navally I hope to cut them down much more than they currently are. Without outside help they should not be able to do as well as they have in the past. I don't mind however Unathi being great fighters, and leading in the galaxy in combat gear development. As we lean more towards our Science Fantasy side, perhaps we can play in the space of them developing new ways of practical combat the way they like it, hand to hand. What are some methods you can think of to have Unathi experiences impact the unathi playerbase on the station? Without spoiling plot points I have for the future, I can list the following. -Find ways to involve Nanotrasen back into Unathi somehow. The Unathi offensive against them kinda alienated unathi on station. -Start drawing lines in the sand, and create more interpersonal intrigue and varying points of view, using the wasteland as a big beautiful blank canvas to expand unathi character possibilities. -Expanding Ouerea, and focusing more on the fact that they were established with a human/skrell values government, and make more apparent that the Sinta on Ouerea are different and more progressive than we lead on to them being. I hope this satisfies you and others who were watching this app and was wondering my thoughts on these issues, without asking. -
I constantly wonder why IAA are even grouped with security at all in all of the places that we talk to them.| When checking aurora jobs on the wiki, they are under 'law and order' and grouped with security even though they serve no security purpose.

[Denied]Tomiix's Tajara Application
Tomiix replied to Tomiix's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
The intention was not to make him infantile seeming. He is a repressed homosexual and outgoing, flamboyant personality and it may show by him being a bit... over done in some cases. He likes being 'cute' as in that he likes being feminine, and identifies more with females. I'll adjust the submission to reflect this more accurately. -

His facade is definitely overcompensation for the torture. While at the same time being away from the war is like itself a sort of therapy. If you lived on a wartorn planet and lived on a border city where the threat of raids and fire near you where high and often and then suddenly you were put in an environment that is just safe, like a human school. A lot of tension is relieved, explaining his main motivation at leaving. Not being expected to rejoin the war, or having to be affected by it. I also personally hate PTSD as it is used too often as an excuse to self antag, however if forced in a combat situation or if forced by someone too similar looking to a captor he might break down and cry. In general I will not be looking to PTSD roleplay as a justification to shit on somebody. -
BYOND Key:TomiixStarslasher Character Names:Azala Huz'kai, Jedark Korpar, Sir Ver Species you are applying to play:Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt):Wheat Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Yes in deedy Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want to join Faysal's harem. Hm... let me try again... I want to be a fur faggot in game. Dammit, that won't work either... To be honest, I do like the design of the Tajarans first and foremost. The Tajaran conflict is less interesting to me then the mannerisms that they have. Tajaran culture and they way they behave and the way that their culture formed is more interesting to me. The way that there is clear racism in their society... but the racism isn't superficial. Each ethnicity in Tajaran culture do have clearly breed differences. Sure, these differences don't make them worth more than one another morally wise, but character wise? Their interactions with each other and how they value each other based on race, and the fact that they base their assumptions and how they treat people on more than mere stereotypes is interesting to me. I am also intrigued by the NKA the most, and would like to eventually make a character that explores that facet of Tajaran life more. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The most obvious difference is that Tajaran have different social norms than humans do. Especially their emphasis on avoiding nouns that seem to personal, like you and me. Preferring to refer to each other as him and her. While maybe not intended but certainly as a result this wildly shapes how they look at gender as well. Besides this obvious surface detail, they also are heavily impacted by the sudden appearance of an advanced civilization on their lives. The Tajaran people and their land is viewed widely as a resource to be used while they are weakened in their own civil war. Nanotrasen has been able to get away with inserting itself into Tajaran life, and is impacting the outcome of this species. Therefore, they are certainly not as culturally advanced as humanity, and are much more traditional. Also coming from a time of feudalistic oppression, they are certainly more rebellious than Unathi are. A species I am used to playing. Character Name: Luka Abdul-Jarih Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Luka Abdul-Jarih was born to a common M'sai family in the city of B'urr who practiced in medicine. His parents ran a small family pharmacy and had expected Luka to follow in their steps, until his call for war came from the PRA. Luka began his medical training through the PRA, and became a field medic in the PRA's army. Luka aborhed violence, and was not very highly rated during his training. However due to his medical abilities and his higher ratings in stealth and team focused activities, at the end of his boot camp period he was put in a squad of fellow M'sai Tajara. They would fight in his own back yard, on the border between B'urr and Tampiska. During his special training with this squad he picked up Nal'rasan, as they were to be deployed on sabotage missions behind enemy lines. During these missions, Luka hardly ever fired a shot. When he did, it was usually ineffective. As far as the team he was with were aware, he only has one confirmed kill, and the kill occurred more so by accident, when he had fallen over and misfired his rifle during a skirmish, landing a lucky shot on one of the ALA they were ambushing. During one of these such missions, Luka's squad was caught off guard by a patrol that wasn't observed during original scouting reports. During the impending chaos, both sides suffered heavy casualties. When all of his squad were either dead or unconscious, Luka waved for surrender. After just nearly surviving reflective shots, Luka was captured. He explained to his mostly Hharar capturers that he was a medic, and wanted to help his comrades. Agreeing to tend to their wounds as well if he be allowed to do so. After negotiations to focus on the Hharar captors first, despite one of his comrades having a time sensitive fatal injury. Luka was able to save two of his squad mates out of the four others, and the three of them were escorted to a ALA camp in the mountains. Only about thirty miles from his home. During Luka's time as a ALA prisoner of war, he was subjected to all kinds of interrogation tactics and torture. During the times he wasn't imprisoned or being tortured he was forced to work in an ALA mash unit to treat injured ALA rebels. Luka also treated PRA prisoners secretly with supplies he smuggled out of the MASH supply tents. During his time imprisoned, he took an oath similar to the hippocratic oath, seeing during his reflection and time the unfairness of the war, and the hypocrisy of the leaders of both sides. He tried to explain his thinking to the others, but most of his comrades figured he had fallen for ALA propaganda, and mistrusted him. During one of his times in the MASH hospital, Luka met another M'sai, an ALA soldier who was taking particular interest in him. Luka caught quite a few of his opportunistic glances from the soldier, and signaled him in Nal'rasan a homosexual friendly code phrase, at risk of taking abuse. However, he was pleasantly surprised when a similar message was returned. The two rendezvous after the soldier was treated, and after a friendly exchange about their plight, the ALA soldier agreed to sneak out Luka after experiencing how kind he was. Luka wasn't particularly interested in the soldier, but was desperate to leave. That night Luka was smuggled out in the back of a truck, and taken home. After an exchange of affection with the ALA rebel, Luka returned to the PRA army as an escaped prisoner of war. Seeing as if he stayed at home he would of been considered a deserter. Luka served the rest of his term with an PRA MASH unit, and then was offered the opportunity to work with Nanotrasen. Luka decided personally that he wanted off of Adhomai, and wanted the chance to experience a life where he could be free to be himself. To be away from the wartorn Adhomai, and the expectations of home. Luka selected the name Luka Abdul-Jarih, as Luka was a simplified version of his birth Tajaran name, and Abdul-Jarih meant 'servant of the wounded' in arabic. He proudly carried his title, as he planned to care for all creeds and races. During further medical training in human space Luka picked up several nicknames. Including 'Luke, Lucas, Vanilla, and Milkshake', he is very floaty when it comes to nicknames, and allows people to call him anything as long as he finds it cute. He is finishing his paramedic and EMT training, and is assigned as a medical assistant on board the Aurora to gauge his compatibility with the station. What do you like about this character? Luka is very similar to my Unathi character Azala Huz'kai. He is very light hearted to compete with the harshness he has had in the past. Like with my Unathi whitelist, I apply with what I am going to play as. I understand Luka is less conservative than most would want out of a traditional Tajaran whitelist, but I hope this application proves that I understand the species enough to play them. Luka fills a void in what I play right now. He is very carefree, flamboyant, and more outgoing than Azala. He is certainly less uptight than my command character as well. He is in a role that will allow him to go around the station and be a socialite, while also fulfill the job that he wants to do so badly. Something I have been craving to do recently is interact more with the crew and have a reason to move around it more, hopefully Luka provides that and I get to experience more interesting interactions. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I tend to be overtly modest, I think I am alright. While I do not put insane effort in, like having emotes binded or what have you, I do put lots of thought into my characters and what I say, and strive to have a joint fun experience. However I have quite a few people who like to sing my praises much more than me, and I hope they don't make me look foolish my showing up. Notes: This app took me awhile because of real life issues and making sure I applied with a character that I actually wanted to play, and I think Luka is one I definitely want to play for sure.

I was facing real life issues at the time, those of which I do not wish to disclose publicly. However, I am more active now, and able to fulfill the duties of a moderator. Of which I plan to do concurrent with the duties of being a deputy lore dev. I plan on Aurora being one of my main avenues of entertainment and creative energy for awhile. -
Ckey/BYOND Username:TomiixStarslasher Position Being Applied For (Deputy Lore developer): Past Experiences/Knowledge: I play Unathi almost exclusively on the server, and read most of the wikipedia on them and even the little side stories jackboot shoved down my throat suggested I take a peak at. I also 360 no scoped him and he told me to apply... so I am... To not meme and give people not in the loop insight. I critiqued Jackboot heavily on the direction he sent Unathi and in ways that I felt like he either inadvertently favoured them or lost track of their theme. They are a race dealing with Post-Apocalypse on their home world... but that is rarely talked about or mentioned. It should affect their culture deeply, and even their colony worlds should feel the pressure from it but it currently isn't reflected. Also I feel like a lot of their progress is ill gained, like their sizeable fleet and the fact that they were able to completely remove the Federation and Alliance without any major issue is a stretch. I would like to help Jackboot bring Unathi back down to earth, and focus more on practical internal conflicts that come from trying to maintain control over two colony worlds when your space capabilities aren't that strong and your home world is fractured from a nuclear war. Unathi that are from Moghes are either Unathi in a densely overpopulated part of moghes that is still survivable or wastelanders. Currently due to the way they are written it is only possible to be from Hegemony space reasonably, and I would like to assist in changing that. Examples of Past Work: I submitted a wizard lore canonization app that was declined. Besides that I have two projects that are still WIPs... one revolving around a new Unathi religion, and another about a possible IPC AI run installation that I am keeping somewhat under the ropes. Additional Comments:I'm just here so I don't get fined, and cause jackboot asked me to.

[Denied] Coalf's Head Lore Manager Application
Tomiix replied to Coalf's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Do you consider the Aurora universe more science fiction, or science fantasy? As a head lore dev, would you push the story more towards fiction or more towards fantasy? We focus a lot on things being realistic when it comes to things like the progression of a species, or abilities of a character. Where do you think we should draw the line for realism? Where should our suspension of disbelief be? You know my personal thoughts on Jackboot being both a head dev and a species dev, what are your thoughts on someone having both responsibilities? If you were to take this position, would you continue to be a moderator? In your opinion, what are the responsibilities of a head lore dev? Is the current head dev doing too much or too little? What changes would you make to the position, and lore team organization? When are we going to have Unathi/Tajaran bone marrow hybrid children? -
Reporting Personnel: Jedark Korpar Rank of Reporting Personnel: Captain Game ID: bSe-avh3 Personnel Involved: - Alexia Wilkinson / Scientist / Culprit - Amelie Baillieu-Marais / Research Director / Witness - Morrigan Linn / Roboticist / Witness Time of Incident: 5:30 - 6:00 Real time: Around 11:00-12:00 Location of Incident: Library - Telescience Nature of Incident: [x]Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [x]Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: I was in the Library partaking in a book when I suddenly found myself in telescience. The teleporter took with me myself, my belongings, the chair I was in, and my pAI. After scanning the room I found the roboticist Linn and Scientist Wilkinson surrounding me. Wilkinson explained that she had been trying to contact me about approving her use of the camera system to allow her to use telescience in rescue missions to medical. I paid her comment no mind, as I had focused on my unwilling transport from the library, and her lack of care for my well being or feelings on the matter. I had called the director over to bring her scientist in line, and look into the matter while I prepared a fax to Central Command with an initial incident report. The director reported back with findings that Wilkinson had not only subverted the chain of command, but had modified the station without permission. Including having a camera console that would allow her to spy on restricted departments. I had ordered her arrest for several charges, including Kidnapping. Which would of indicated being held in security until transfer. She evaded arrest through the use of the telepad. Even after all of this, I decided to be generous and simply order the demotion of her for the remainder of the shift. As without access she was no longer a threat to the station. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: I had talked with her department head, and faxed Central Command. Agent Bay responded, and spoke with us in a conference, in which he has recorded. Actions taken: She was detained, briged for an appropriate amount of time, and was demoted. These actions and her callous disregard for regulations and directives calls into question her employment at Nanotrasen. Per Agent Bay's request I am filing this follow up report.

[Accepted] Tomiix's Department Head Application
Tomiix replied to Tomiix's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Jedark, being a captain would let the Research Department be run by the RD! AHAH, YOUR TRICK QUESTIONS WON'T FOOL ME! But, um yes. Captain Korpar is interested in science, and since he is the captain of a research station, would be incentivised to direct the station into ensuring that research is being done. He is more interested in interesting findings then money, and would encourage the crew to discover new things while he helped manage the leadership. He will want to check in on the work up front, and provide guidance when needed, but clearly there is a chain of command up to him when it comes to 'who needs to get this job done.' He is going to get sick of being idle and alone, he will try to think up and set goals for the station to try and continue progressing it forward. 'Adventure' is a bit too much of a grandiose word for him going around and checking in on people and helping with things during his free time. -
BYOND key: TomiixStarslasher Character names: Azala Guwan/Huz'kai and Sir Ver are the ones I mainly play. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I have been playing since 2016, so almost two years now. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I am usually playing during later hours normally, and there is typically a shortage of heads of staff. Being able to provide mentorship and assisting people in doing their job and providing leadership is something I think I would really enjoy. Why did you come to Aurora?: I like heavy roleplay and characters actually mattering, and I like the pacing of Aurora. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is the act of of having a character and acting out as that character. Space Station 13 provides the stage and the players are the actors, with the hope and intent of creating a story that we all enjoy. Roleplay should be fun, inclusive to everyone, and engaging. Able to leave you fulfilled, and possibly even learn something new about the game itself or open your mind to character concepts or introduce you to new interesting stories. As a head of staff, I feel like I would be able to add to this experience. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The head of a department is supposed to be a guiding force for players in game. To be able to teach players mechanics and give them a purpose during the round. They are also there to be the first stop against their department ruining the round for the others. The Head of Security is to ensure their department knows the corporate regulations, and the security guards realize they are not above the law. The Chief Engineer needs to ensure that their engineers don't destroy the station. The Research Director ensures the science department follows regulations and keep scientific materials secure. All of these heads provide important direction so that the round can progress as normal. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Department heads are required to be knowledgeable of their department, and are an essential resource in assisting players do their roles the best they can. To create roleplay experiences for the members of these departments to enjoy. They are special because they have the authority to make the rounds different, and can help lead and organize their department to do things that individual members couldn't do on their own. They also provide a chain of command so that players can have more immediate responses to issues they are having with other characters, and allows someone to help them in these scenarios as a mediator. Rounds without heads feel rather empty, and are definitely better off with them instead of without them. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Jedark Korpar Character age: 40 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Jedark Korpar was born on Perspolis in the New Ankara system to a wealthy family of researchers who worked for The Serene Republic of Elyra's Center for Disease Control. He was brought up with a understanding that education was important, and was a successful student. During his childhood he constantly looked up to the stars, and loved pointing out constellations and doing his own research on star patterns. He graduated with stellar marks, but left university with a chip on his shoulder, as he lost valedictorian-ship to a rival of his. During schooling and his younger years, he worked as a secretary in his parent's department. He finished University with a Phd in Astronomy, and worked as a intern with Nanotrasen developing new space mapping technologies. Upon his graduation he was made a science officer on the NCV Clark, and moved his way up the ranks until becoming second in command of the exploration vessel. During his time on the Clark he achieved a good number of small successes. Including developing a method of finding Phoron on asteroids using soil samples and analyzing crater data on celestial objects. He also helped study and map new worlds that the Clark had discovered, and marked some as potential expansion for future Nanotrasen endeavours. Upon an end to the Clark's most recent ten year mission, Jedark was offered the chance to become a captain of the new Phoron Research station 'Aurora II." He humbly accepted this invitation and will begin his newest duty soon. What do you like about this character?: Unlike my other characters who are quirky or underdogs, Jedark never had it rough. He was born to a wealthy family who got him through school and has enjoyed a comfortable life. He is interesting to me because he is going into a whole new environment after just completing an exciting ten year research expedition. Sure at first he might view the Aurora as a vacation and cake walk compared to the constant excitement of traveling the universe. But I enjoy the idea that I will soon be roleplaying a starry eyed adventurer who is constantly mopey and grumbly that he has to stay on station. What do you dislike about this character?: Jedark will be the kind of boss that is constantly looking to get hands on with his crew after a while, to try and fill in the mundane in his work and spark some kind of adventure. This would perturbe me and certainly some other crew members, who would just rather him mind his own business and sit in his office chair. He isn't going to try and be a renegade security officer every chance he gets, but he does like to get involved hands on when things arise to a fault. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Not only is he well studied, has plenty of experience with nanotrasen, and has leadership experience. But he is the kind of normal, successful character that is super invested in the company that Nanotrasen would want to make the captain of one of their important Phoron Research Stations. He isn't overtly quirky besides some weird pseudo science that he like to theorise about in his free time, and overall wants the company to succeed, and is extremely loyal to Nanotrasen at this point. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: As much as I despise speaking on behalf of myself in these matters, I think I bring a good amount of roleplay to the server. While I am not the type who has a bind for every common emote that I use, overall players seem to like roleplaying with me, and we create the kind of experiences that has us looking for each other OOCly, and actually scheduling times to play with each other. I feel like I could handle roleplaying as a head well enough. Extra notes: It took me awhile to finally apply for this, as I originally wrote this draft in October, but I wanted to make sure I was extra ready for this whitelist. Honest onions down below please.

That's gonna have to be a no for me dog. Mostly because I am not sure what you are asking for, but all of the possibilities I can think of are still no's. >Devs have made it clear they do not intend to make another species unless it can actually provide a tangible in game difference and add to the game and also not just be X thing but human. > If you want Xenomorphs like from the Aliens franchise that is also going to be a hard no, especially if you want them to be a crew member species. It would ruin the spirit of what they are, and they aren't even a antag in our game because of how generic they are and the fact that all the other servers do them. >Hybrids are a hard no because biologically and DNA speaking there is no way these different alien species are able to procreate if we cannot even procreate with our closest living relative species, monkeys. The most radical hybridization is variants within a species, like a Unathi's scale colors or tajaran half breeds (since Tajaran's have subspecies.)

What would the future queen of the Zora hive be doing on a space station? What makes you think you have the authority or right to be such a lore important character? -

I walked past them to go in and they followed me in, without acquiring our department heads permission to come in. These two officers were Gael Ordin and Cadet Cha'cha Sevigny. Immediately after I made an initial introduction towards him he began insulting me. Saying that my scales were ugly, calling me a whore and slow. We got in a heated argument as he was insulting me in Sinta when I finally decided to ask him to leave unless he had a warrant. He began leaving and I opened the doors for him. When we got to the first door to the research airlock he proceeded to push me over and continued to insult me, spitting on me while I was down. When I got up he shoved me a second time, and I attempted to defend myself. Upon doing so he used his stun baton and bludgeoned me to a critical condition, and handcuffed me. I yelled out over radio for the help of security, and officers followed him to the brig, along with the two station bound borgs listed above, with the one Virtue being able to vouch for him provoking the situation, as he attempted to lie and say that I attacked him unprovoked. My Director followed in toe as well demanding to know what was going on. The rest of security convened, had me uncuffed and took us to the brig yard to talk it out. During this time Sevigny was still spitting on me and calling me a whore and being over all inflammatory. While we were talking in the yard, and the officers were trying to get a full story, Sevigny took out a tear gas grenade and deployed it in the center of our circle, harming myself and officer Richter while the other two officers dispatched and arrested him after a exchange. He was not demoted, as it was decided to take the matter to this level. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: My Director was aware and talked me through this before giving his blessing to reference him in this report. Actions taken: Security arrested him, but any decision on his demotion or status as a security cadet was held for central command.

-1 on fatigues for the same reasons as Zundy had stated. While this isn't a player/character complaint, I am honestly surprised that you made a item request for a character that I always thought was a joke character. If Kunta X is a character you actually like to play and want to develop, this is long awaited as he has always seemed to me to just be a flat stereotype. A cap like the linked one would probably be work appropriate. https://sep.yimg.com/ay/yhst-89988323165017/navy-custom-hats-1.gif

Trying to get rid of me are you? ;D Engineering really wouldn't be the best fit for them, firstly robotics is a science field. While yes they are an applied science, and look like grease monkeys, all of those roboticists have an associates in applied science of some kind. Necessary to know how to fabricate and work on the computer bits and design of the robots/mechs. The knowledge of the medical science for prosthetics and cyborgification, and the ability to work with AI. Secondly engineering as a department has nothing to offer them, and shoving robotics into a sub-level damns the department to the same hell that is xenobiology. Roboticists and Mechatronic Engineers have the qualifications to be assistants to their department when they are done basic bot work. They do not have the qualifications to maintain the engine, or set up solars, shielding, etc. Also, the position requires the close relationship with RnD. If I am not in close proximity how will I be able to yell at them to work faster/harder as easily as I can now? I feel like this would cause robotics to be an afterthought and forgotten.

I mean common sense told me that being deceitful to a crewman by pretending to have good intentions with their mouse and then crushing it before their eyes seemed like common sense cruelty to me. However the CCIAA ruled otherwise, and if we didn't agree to void OOC would of been cause for a security officer to be demoted. So I guess it isn't so much common sense is it?
