  1. Sounds good to me. Assembly shouldn't be any easier than disassembly except in the case of, like, high-security airlock sand such.
  2. I didn't know about the devouring items, but if you drag something into the labcoat, it'll pop open a "ghost" inventory bar which can't be used or closed. Similarly, if you have the labcoat inventory open when you open another inventory, it'll switch as normal but leave the same "ghost" bar behind. It's not actually harmful... just really annoying to look at.
  3. Pretty much what it says on the title. The problem with labcoat pockets is bizarre, ubiquitous, and has been around for, like, at least a year. So... maybe it's time to fix this?
  4. There's always posibrains for being a robot and ahelp if you want to be an AI and there isn't on (or isn't an active one).... but yes, I'd like this feature too.
  5. Changelings are completely unknown... until some poor bastard of one comes to NSS Aurora, goes on a killing spree, gets captured by security, and blows their whole secret. Gee, thanks Urist McLing! Wouldn't it be waaaay cooler if they were known to NT and hiding 'cause they don't want to be forced to serve as living weapons or as horrible test subjects for a project designing living weapons? Does anyone think NT wouldn't do this? A mysterious species of aliens hiding among us, their agendas unknown but probably not really in our best interests, but who have to hide among us because of of our superior numbers and weapons would be used to hunt them down and stick them in lab cells... that'd be awesome. Far more so than repetitive first-contact situations with an alien that's freaky and weird enough the crew can only realize what's going on by either metagaming or inventing some craaaazy theory about next-gen portable weaponized genetics equipment.
  6. Yeah, and the crew can make/retain items a lot better. That said, none of these "perks" should be especially powerful, so giving nuke-ops and traitors 3 instead of 2 wouldn't be such a big deal. Stuff like +5% combat damage or an extra pocket slot or a slightly increased movement speed, or the ability to double the speed at which you get out of cuffs. There would need to be very non-combat ones, too, though... like quicker timers on surgery, reduced movement penalty when wearing heavy gear (like bio suits), and other useful stuff. Probably more of a bother than it's worth, but something to consider none the less.
  7. I see two problems here. First, it would only effect combat (unless we're adding stat-related modifiers to every role's job), and second, it would force characters to change fairly intrinsic physical features if they're played in different rounds. What might work is a perk type system where you get to pick one or two special thing about your character during setup that could make them faster, or more durable, or able to carry more (third and fourth pocket slots!), or whatever. That way characters who aren't combat-oriented would be less likely to have increased hit damage or know how to do a vulcan nerve pinch... but then again we might end up with a medbay full of lesbian ninjas. That said, this doesn't seem especially necessary... unless maybe it's meant to give antags an advantage over your average toolbox swinger. These days antags need all the advantages they can get.
  8. I'll be straight with you here, this is mostly an aesthetic thing... most of the roles I play LiLITH in wear white (or light blue, in the case of the surgeon) uniforms under a white lab coat. Not a pretty combination. That said, however, such a distinctive bit of clothing could make for as much RP as any other little trinket or personal effect people bring to work. It's unusual enough to be a conversation piece, certainly, and should give some aesthetic continuity between the different roles I play her in. I'm also kinda hoping to have people mistake her for someone who isn't a doctor, simply because that could make for interesting RP much the same way that people ICly mistaking her for an organic often does. It could also make for some confusion... but is that really a bad thing? XD
  9. It's worth considering for some types of crimes... assuming proper oversight is available.
  10. On a slightly different note... wouldn't it be awesome if changelings were a fairly well known (at least among those "in the know" about alien species) phenomenon? Maybe not all the details, but enough that it's not first contact every time.
  11. Brig times are inherited from a low-RP server and are intended as punishment for players, near as I can tell. Spending 5-15 minutes in a cell isn't an IC punishment for any character who doesn't suffer from severe ADHD.
  12. It could be brutal... or it could be not-brutal. Depends on how many up/down votes it takes to get a meaningful change to your probability of antaging. I'd go with non-brutal, personally, because antagging does take practice and even people who aren't inherently bad antags can make mistakes. I'd also place new players in the middle, with our experienced and well-loved antags (I'm looking at you, Delta) more likely to get the slot and people who've have too high a downvote-to-upvote ratio getting somewhat less of a chance. The important thing to keep in mind here, though, is that most antags will likely get more downvotes than upvotes. It's the nature of antagging that butthurt happens.
  13. I'm with Killerhurtz on this one: Lamaar's existence suggests that the RD should probably know what a xenomorph is, if not necessarily that much about them. This mixes well with my understanding that xenomorphs are a known phenomenon, simply a very rare one. On the other hand, maybe a Space Wizard once zapped the RD's pet iguana and now it's a neutered facehugger?
  14. I'm all for people getting their crime on during extended... criminal RP is fine if it's done halfway decently with some degree of subtlety, and can be awesome if done really well. The problem is that it's so often done so badly and as little more than an excuse to chucklefuck.
  15. One time a golem ran up to LiLITH and injected her with water 'cause it... I don't know... thought she was a slime core? But that's the only time her chem storage has ever had anything in it.

Yes, I know the groin is the abdomen too... but even so, 4 liters of volume is a lot to commit to a system which is only sorta useful, and IPCs don't seem to have a lot of spare space for superfluous frills. So ICly it makes no sense... OOCly it's an insane amount of storage balanced only by the fact that it's such a pain to use. A 300ml storage container is far more realistic and nearly as useful for loading up with tricord or whatever.
  17. It doesn't help antags at all that there tend to be more than a few of the crew who like to spout off Identifying Names. Some fool will say "glowing runes" or "dark tome" on the comms and now we all know, in a very OOC way, that it's a cult round. "Red spacesuit" and "organic needle" have a similar effect, as do plenty of other things, of cuing in the crew about what to be meta-suspicious about. For those of us who make an effort not to metagame it may only be an inconvenience, but it's not so hard to get into the mindset of looking for reasons to justify figuring it out ICly. So if I may offer a suggestion, it's not to use those identifying names any more than necessary. Ask yourself why your character would care what book a patient has, or if they'd know the difference between glowing blood runes, and graffiti made with luminescent paint. Use a different term than "organic needle" whenever possible (alien proboscis works), and never say "red spacesuit" like it's a code word for "bad guys".

  19. As far as tricord goes, I'm all for making it a little scarcer simply because there are so many other alternatives. But spaceacillin is necessary not just for treating random viruses, but also for the rather common infections that people get. So, the logical thing to do here is split off a separate drug to be a high-power plasma-using antiviral agent and let 'cillin be purely for bacterial effects.
  20. It's been a while since the last time I held a beaker IRL, but for a more plebeian example... take a pair of two liter soda bottles and try to imagine where they'd fit inside the groin of your average IPC. Now try to imagine it in a non-robosexual way.
  21. It makes sense for humans to have a lot of chemical storage space... they need it for all that blood! But why, oh why, should my IPC be able to honestly say "I'm 40% chemical storage space"? 300 units seems like more than enough.

  23. "Your blood's getting dry, we're pumping in some lubricant." So Hyperzine isn't basically space meth? Cool. I'm conflicted on this. Because you're right, 'cillin is craaaaazy effective. On the other hand it's also vital to the operation of a clean, efficient medbay... and even more vital to the operation of a messy, disease-ridden medbay. This represents a serious reduction to the availability of tricord. Because dylovene and inaprovaline are readily available outside the chemlab any doctor can mix up their own in a beaker, syringe, or even (my favorite) inside a patient with the sleeper. This is not, however, necessarily a bad thing as we do have something of a craaaazy excess of miracle drugs. It might even make sense to replace copper with kelotane (which is very easy to make anyway).
  24. Spaceacillin contains NO plasma, slimes are natives of the Skrell homeworld, and borging as a response to captal crimes (treason, murder, or whatever) sounds great.
  25. So every player makes up their own background? Oh, that's not going to be a mess...
