  1. The mechs do *stun* for that time, but it deafens for about twenty seconds those in a small radius. I just wanted it to be known it was annoying to more than just me, so I had a friend post it for me as I was busy. I didn't really have a problem with it other than that. *shrug*
  2. Updated his backstory with more info like you asked!
  3. BYOND key: DasFox Character names: Zahra Njarir, Izzat Njarir, Inalla Njarir, Henry Ray, Kalita Mrakiizar How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Three weeks Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I’ve been playing for a few weeks now and I think that I am ready to take my roleplaying to a higher level, especially with this character. Why did you come to Aurora?: I was banned on Baystation for being rude to a moderator. I then picked Aurora because I had played here before and I prefer the HRP. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is all about getting into a character and being that character, some people do it to escape into a fantasy world, for some it’s all about just having fun interacting with other people, for me it’s about escapism, I like going into a world other than our own and spending time interacting with other characters within that world. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of staff are players that others can look up to, they’ve made an application and gotten it approved, that means that they have the support of the admins, showcasing them as trustworthy players, who can handle one of the top tier positions. They can also guide players, both IC and OOCly. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players are meant to set an example, they set a standard for roleplay and abilities as a character. When a player sees their head of staff, they should think to themselves, I want to impress and be like this person, because they know what they are doing. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Zahra Njarir Character age: 39 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Zahra was born as the eldest child in what eventually became a large family. Her family resided in the NKA where she was taught to act and think in a very specific manner, naturally, she was very rebellious. She constantly bickered with her parents and caused the servants a great deal of stress, hiding and playing pranks on them. Her brother, Izzat, was quite different on the other hand, he was shy and treated fairly badly by his nanny, but Zahra’s parents adored him, the first son. He got all of the attention and she was left with none, her parents barely paying any attention to her whatsoever. Due to her rebellious nature, she eventually came to stop viewing things the way they did, especially in regards to how the other races of Tajara should be treated. As soon as she could, she left and broke off all ties with them, moving to study at Biesel Institute of Medical Sciences. Her training led to her becoming a certified surgeon and working at multiple NanoTransen institutes for several years. After several days of particularly difficult work with multiple back to back surgeries, she found herself being praised greatly by her superiors. After a few weeks of debate between her and some NT staff, she transferred to the Aurora to work as a surgeon. What do you like about this character?: She is no nonsense, she gets what needs to be done in as efficient a manner possible, making sure no mistakes are made. I also like how her backstory has shaped who she is today and how I roleplay her. What do you dislike about this character?: She is very blunt and abrasive, she tells everyone the way it is without stopping to sugar coat anything. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: She has a very robust manner. She isn’t mean to people, but she certainly doesn’t pander to them and try to make everyone’s wishes come true, she has what it takes to put her foot down and tell someone no, whilst also explaining her reasoning behind her decision. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I’d say my roleplaying abilities are an 8/10. I can certainly make more improvements, but roleplaying as a different species and as multiple family members each with their own personality, has really opened up how I play characters, I’m beginning to disassociate the word game with SS13, it’s not just about the game mechanics, it’s about the characters you are and who they become, and who they interact with on the station.
  4. Yeah man. no I'm super fucking excited to play Vaurca. Taj are my babies, but Vaurca are sweet af.
  5. Presumably Ta'Akaix'Vaur'skiyet'sca Zo'ra, as they were the head of the Ship Navigation on Titan Prime. I planned to make them more of a talker, and because of the Broodmother's way of making things, I believe it more prudent to use that brood than any of the others. Not simply because the Broodmother is the Queen of the Zo'ra within the Tau Ceti space, but because it most matches the way I'd prefer to handle things (Because I'm an unrobust piece of shit.).
  6. BYOND Key: DasFox Character Names: Inalla Njarir, Zahra Njarir, Malika Markov, Kismet Al-Kandari, Izzat Njarir, Rebecca Hunt, Henry Ray Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Red (Unbound Zo'ra) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: They're an interesting race. I really like RPing with the people who play them, and I'd like to play them myself. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Vaurca require phoron to breathe, they start with a tank of phoron. They must eat Kois bars in order to not go hungry. In terms of more interactive RP, they are not paid as much as regular crew and don’t have bank accounts and most live on Biesel in horrific conditions. Character Name: Za'Akaix'Ryn Zo'ra Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ryn has worked security for the Zo’ra hive for the majority of his life, aboard the Titan Prime. He moved to District Nine as part of a security team designed to protect and ensure that the illegal Kois pits were not discovered. His first interaction with NT came about when he was re-assigned to security for the relay tower that allowed NT to listen in on their telepathic communication. He was set to be part of the evacuation of Titan Prime in January 2458, but instead was sent to help the security forces aboard the NSS Aurora, a decision he wasn’t too happy with, for him, working with those who have treated his species so terribly, was not something he particularly wanted to be doing. But he decided he would make the most of it, and see what this bright and loud place had to offer him. What do you like about this character? His backstory is simple for a first Vaurca character, it allows me a lot of room to really get the full grasp on how playing and roleplaying a Vaurca works. There’s no higher goal set out for Ryn, he just wants to get things done without taking too much flak from those who tend to look down on him, especially in a security position where his job has to be taken very seriously. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Above average, probably around 6-7/10. This character with his simple backstory allows me to expand that ability by giving me time and space to roleplay as the Vaurca.
  7. I will +1 the fuck outta this thread until it stops being +1able
  8. Originally it was written as a republic character, but I changed it around a bit and left some minute things that I Didn't change. ^.^" Izzat got offworld by spending the majority of his accumulated wealth on a smuggler, whom got him into biesel space. Beyond this, Izzat keeps contact with his parents, but they don't approve of his leaving Ahdomai. His training to become a Surgeon was moreso to advance his current medical knowledge so that he could get a higher paying job within NanoTrasen. "Several months of rigorous testing and training" was meant as a part of the Republic's army, as he was originally a Combat Medic for the Republic, however I changed it to the NKA to fit the nobility thing. Anymore questions? Feel free to shoot them at me! <3
  9. +1. But this is purely base on RP experience with him. I personally believe he'd do very well with the Diona, but also think that he should add more of a quirk to his Diona. Other than this, I like the app even if it is lacking in some areas.
  10. I updated the story. Feedback would be appreciated.
  11. BYOND Key: DasFox Character Names: Lana Mikkael, Ariana Kuster, Aileene Aldamman, Amanda Lawrence, Henry Ray, Riley Woollard, Erika Lauffer Species you are applying to play: Tajaran What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Blue-Gray Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I personally feel that Tajara are a more interesting alternative to Humans and I prefer their way of being. I’ve played the Tajara before on different servers but never with this type of lore and so I’m really interested in seeing how it differs and to see them from a new perspective. Beyond this, I'd like to experience actually RPing the culture I've read up on. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: They can see well in the dark; their claws mean that they must wear modified gloves and footwear. They are more susceptible to warm environments and thus tend to wear less layers. They require modified hardsuits designed specifically for Tajara. They also prefer hot foods. Beyond basic information like this, they have a unique and extensive culture that differs greatly from that of humans. Character Name: Izzat Njarir Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs A 32 year old noble born in the New Kingdom of Ahdomai’s Capital, Kaltir. His parents were wealthy aristocrats, and spoiled Izzat greatly, however his first nannie was abusive, and mistreated him, causing a stammer to develop. Only with intense training in his early 20’s was Izzat able to overcome the stammer which occasionally rears its ugly head during times of utmost stress. His abuse also led to his short temper. Throughout his time on Ahodmai, Izzat served in several local hospitals after completing basic first aid training, treating the NKA’s soldiers, he heard many of their tales of the war, and Izzat longed to be on the front lines, treating the wounds of soldiers as a medic. After several months of rigorous testing and training, he was enlisted and deployed to the Kaltir Front as part of the 75th Brigade. The war however, very quickly changed his views, back in Kaltir, he treated the more fortunate lads, out on the front lines however, the wounds were very different, the things Izzat saw sobered him up and soon destroyed his naivety. He attended the Biesel Institute of Medical Sciences wherein he studied medicine to become a surgeon. What do you like about this character? I like the fact that his story is written, however most of his life is still in the dark so it gives me an opportunity to RP him as I see fit with his personality tweaks. Beyond this, I am very into the medicinal fields of SS13 and love to experiment with them, so this can help me sate my curiosities and learn the Aurora-Med system. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Above average, probably around 6-7/10, I like to keep my characters fairly simple and I think that by making this character a bit more in depth and complicated, I can expand my own role-playing abilities. Notes: I updated the story, please give it a read. <3
  12. +1, looks formal and ICly good characters from wht I've seen.
  13. BYOND Key: DasFox Character Names: Lana Mikkael (Janitor) Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Black Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yep! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Because catpeople, duh! But no, in all seriousness, I very much enjoy how the Tajara as a people are. Their background on Ahdomai, and the differences both subtle and large between the clans give them character that I love to see in alien species. I have past experience RPing Tajara on both Baystation, and Apollo (Although I seem to remember their lore was very out of date.). Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Tajara are a species of Cat-like bipedal humanoids. They are covered in a layer of fur, which would make them warmer in an average climate to humans. Tajaran Diet is also different, as their local flora and fauna are different than MOST Human's. Beyong physical differences such as what's listed and vision, hearing, smell, and so on; There are many cultural differences that most Tajara would abide by. Speaking in the third person would be the most prominent one on my mind for general RP, as they save speaking in the first person for those very close to them. If you'd like more examples, please let me know. Character Name: Kyelira Tar'jama Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Kyelira is a Tajara, who's born and raised in the Tau Ceti. She was brought to the system by her mother, who looked for work away from Ahdomai after she learned she was pregnant with her Arranged Marriage partner's child. She was in love with a Human, and since that was frowned upon, they left to live a life together elsewhere. While she's trained in just about nothing, Kyelira loves to watch people and learn when she can. She has a history of desk-jobs, such as being an attendant or bartender, however she's not very skilled in these things. While her Father worked for NanoTrasen, her Mother worked oddball engineering jobs and was never home. Kyelira decided she wanted to make her own living early on, and decided to get a Job where her father worked for a few years, before she was sent to the NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character? I like to think that Kyelira will be a unique look onto things, a more human-minded Tajara. It gives me a little bit more diversity to go on, so if I forget veyr small Tajaran customs it's not as big a deal. I also like that she's a basic character, so that I can get to learn the map and the way things work BEFORE I jump into any major jobs. How would you rate your role-playing ability? A 6/10. I'd like to rate it slightly over an average because I am not natively english, so my understanding of some situations might me a little skewed. Notes: Erm, not really getting what notes I'd add, but it's here I guess? Heheh.
