  1. Known this kid for years. Like him. Like his work. Seems good enough. +1
  2. Previously discussed here
  3. Personally, I'm strongly against command staff being able to roll antag. I have no plans to do both at once.
  4. Understandable. Also consider that this round was me as an antag, the only reason I was salty was because of how I felt mistreated as a prisoner. The captain that round had given me an impossible ultimatum of "forfeit your freedom to a loyalty implant" or "we lock you up for good". The situation called for almost unlimited amounts of distrust, due to how anyone could have been an agent out to kill her. The lack of trust was then made to be clear that it wasn't misplaced, as an officer ended up killing me, as was predicted by my character at the time. If you were playing the long game to help me escape, you weren't giving hints, and when you left me with a way out, I ended up not going far as, well, Cecelia is blind. She knows her way around the station, as she's been walked around it several times, and relies on people helping her out most of the time. She screamed and complained because, well, her life was on the line, and she was being left at the whims of another, which meant she had no defence of her own. The actions I made were to make your character's time hard, to give you a hard time had you been trying to kill me. I apologise for the salt, it was a long round and I had spent most of it cuffed and tied to a room with little to no interaction. It started on a bad foot when someone burst wordlessly through a door to shoot me several times. I play characters I enjoy, and, well, if I have nothing to relate to them about, how am I to enjoy them? Lastly, I've a large boundary between IC and OOC, and most of my problems with that stem from poor rounds or exhaustion. However, I've no actual real issues with anyone OOC, and I settle down quickly. @Riffboi
  5. Tell me more, I assume you find Aimee's way of speaking silly? Do you know what her reasoning behind that is? Alice doesn't stick around because most rounds, once I know the roundtype, I know there will be nothing I can do. I've even been trying to improve on this, offering games of chess and trying to be more social and just being ignored. Detective is one of my favourite characters to play, but extremely mentally taxing due to the amount I have to write for them. Most people seem to hate him ICly, but you are the first to express annoyance OOCly at him. Can't think of any reasons to hate Ihuru, other than maybe their incomplete vocabulary or preference to the suit designed and built for Unathi over the traditional armour made for humans. Same again for Moore, unless you dislike untagged shells.
  6. That's two complaints in the same direction. How about we give examples so I know what to improve upon? If my characters are making you go "oh boy", why is that? So far all I get from most people is being ignored, thus inactivity.
  7. BYOND key: IAmCrystalClear Character names:Alice Gough, Cecillia Star, Aimee Tale, Detective, Rebecca Moore, Misaki Mayumi, Ihuru Azka, Baron How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since June 2016? Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I've never made a character to fit the bill of a Head of Staff role, but have some ideas that would fit the Head of Security role, and I remember playing BUD with his desire to be a Head of Personnel. I'd like to open the way to more avaliable roles to me, such as IAA, HoP, and Captain. Why did you come to Aurora?: I remember a long time ago, MattAtlas mentioned a to a group of friends I was a part of he'd been playing a new game called SS13. I was never interested until a while later, wheen my friend AIMMO told me he'd found a great game called SS13. It's become a large part of me ever since and the server means a lot to me. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I've been banned once for poor antag play, which I have remedied, and once for accidentially blowing the SM as a rogue AI. I have several warnings for things such as validing, which I again feel I have remedied in the recent past. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is the action of playing a role in a story, and involves designing a character to become. You suspend your personal beliefs, opinions, and bonds in favour of being this new person's. Roleplay is about forming bonds and telling a story that entertains us all. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: A head of staff keeps control of the station, trying to ICly reign in different departments, and guide new players and old alike into ensuring they not only follow the rules, but the station directives, regulations and even just how to do the job. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:There's a certain level of roleplay that all players should strive for, Heads of Staff are there to not only be a rolemodel and set standards for the level of roleplay but also to help other players learn the game and point people in the right direction when it comes to roleplaying within it. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? For sake of not having a character that people can relate to IN this application, I will simply use my security officer, Azka, as an example. Azka is a Hegemony Unathi, being a traditionalist and narrowly avoiding exile following being discovered as a female within the Navy. She moved to Tau Ceti in spite of not wishing to lay down her arms, where she was offered a position within NanoTrasen as an officer. Her basic is poor, but since her arrival she has discovered several things, such as the fragile offworlders joining NT and the existence of the Tau Ceti Foreign Legion. While the humans were of little interest to her, the existence of the Legion and declaration of independance opened many possibilities to the girl, a new life under a new Navy and the opportunity of taking up arms once more. More interestingly, the discovery that the Exiles had made it to human space was upsetting news to the traditionalist Azka, whom is not only highly against prostetics, but also against even cloning. She has been struggling to cope, as most roles have been taken by the cyborg sinta, and her possible friends replaced with machines. On the flip side, she has learnt that her robotic kin aren't all bad, and even considers a few as near friends. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? I plan to try them all, eventually, but will likely take HoP first. This is because I wish to avoid security to begin with as I do not want to feel like I am diving in at the deep end. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Hitori Yuno, Head of Personnel, 32, Solarian, Previously Quartermaster. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would honestly rate my ability to roleplay as above average. It can, however, drastically change based on my mental state at the time I am playing, it is worse when I am tired, and best when I am happy. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Of course. Even the human whitelist can be stripped, I've heard. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I have. I also often have the wiki page open for most roles consistently. Extra notes:
  8. -1 While I agree with the PLAYER behind the character getting the whitelist, I disagree with their choice of character. We're talking about a character with a severe medical record of depression and anxiety throughout all her life being promoted to one of the most stressful, burdening, taxing, mind-breaking roles on the station. It makes little to no sense at all, and a lot about the character would have to be discarded in order for it to work. Get the role, then play a new character in it.
  9. She's way better than Siskin was, but I've always seen her as "someone who's meant to be quiet, but it didn't turn out right." Most of my memories are of her verbally assaulting people for little to no reason, or else arguing with antags.
  10. I do. The server ban was entirely a lapse in the definition of "binary" thinking regarding to laws, and I've decided to avoid borgs as much as I due to it.
  11. BYOND Key:IAmCrystalClear Character name:Alice Gough Item name: Book Why is your character carrying said item to work? Alice brings a book to work every day, having a quiet job and not much to do on the typical, she eventually found herself reading the entire collection of library books (yes, including the adult section) and now has begun bringing in her own material. Currently, I run over to the library ASAP and pray nobody notices me printing out a book, naming it, and writing it. Item function(s): Identical to the library books currently in the game. Item description: Identical to the library books currently in the game. Item appearance: Identical to the library books currently in the game. How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? Alice has gotten into a small argument with a detective over insulting literature. Books are her escape mechanism from the outside world, and, as anyone with a hobby, she could spend hours discussing her favourites. Additional comments: There's a second option for a description, unique to her own material, in that it could be "A book brought from home." or similar.
  12. The stationbound didn't talk at all, went mining instead; having checked the manifest, I can't be blamed for not knowing it existed. No command staff was present at the time and my character, an IPC, was worried she'd be stuck in a station with no power. I had the motivation and was aware that I was the only one with the electrical know-how to get into the bridge to contact central. I told crew that I was doing it, and did it. Sent a fax saying that I wanted advice on what to do, and waited by the machine. When command arrived, I explained myself clearly multiple times, fixed what I had broken into, served my time in prison, and then went about my shift. I could of chosen to meta it and just break into the engine room to set it up. Instead I decided to do something that my character would know how to do, acting fully within reason out of a real fear. I only gave Command staff a hard time because they were giving me know slack for taking initiative and submitting. There was an issue whilst I played warden in a crossfire round where I accidentally left the armoury open whilst guarding the vault in a situation where as far as I knew, Command was Deceased, Two officers were dead, and all my officers were geared up. That was cleared up at the time and I will stand by what I said in it being valid.
  13. BYOND Key: IAmCrystalClearTotal Ban Length: Forever and ever.Banning staff member's Key: AlberykReason of Ban: Unacceptable antagonist/cult play, attacking and working against their fellow cultists, while attempting to abandon the cult to become a vampire. You have a lot of notes and warnings, feel free to appeal this ban.Reason for Appeal: This was maybe a month or so ago now. Just less if I recall correctly. My motivation to RP has dropped, I'm now busy with work, half the characters I used to play no longer interest me, and entire sides to some of my characters have been lost to time. I recently got a Unathi whitelist, with several people agreeing to my RP potential, and showed reforms to mistakes and complaints on the whitelist. My previous application was denied as I was temporarily banned by another member of staff for sort of rules lawyering, in which I witnessed a crew member attacking other crew to a critical state, was attacking myself, and i perceived as a general threat to all crew present. As a medical borg I decided it was safer to subdue the offending crew with a circular saw in an attempt to break or amputate the leg and then stabilise the patient, thus reducing their ability to violate the protect law I had, seeing them as a threat to both themselves and others. I accepted that ban, spoke to friends about it, and no longer play stationbounds because of my difference in logic to others. So now I am going to appeal to play antag again as I actually enjoy antagging, and all my characters are designed to create openings for antags and similar. I will not play cultist; I had it disabled for months and decided I wanted to give it another shot, leading to this ban. If I recall correctly, the ban was at first let off by a different staff as a warning, which I acknowledged, and Alb only added themselves to the ticket after the round was over.
  14. @DeadLantern I described the mechanics as you asked.
  15. @Senpai Jackboot @Toska I've edited the story a little. Hopefully it's better now.
  16. Thanks Senpai. Yeah, planning to edit it a little when I have the energy.
  17. Strongly agreeing with @Neinbox's point. "Off-worlders" is too broad a term, if this is a spefic sub-species of human, that should be noted. What do I now call my Tajaran princess raised on a rebel shuttle, having never seen the light of day before, if not an "Off-worlder"?
  18. An update to this thread: I'm going to get around to updating the story when I have the time and energy. Thanks for your patience.
  19. I attacked a fellow cultist as a cultist and generally avoided helping them, being too focused on the wizard and skeletons alongside my own gimmicks.
  20. Photocopier please. Thanks
  21. BYOND Key: IAmCrystalClearTotal Ban Length: It's been like three days. I got banned before going away for a few days so I can't remember exactly when.Banning staff member's Key: AlberykReason of Ban: Reason for Appeal: Somewhat over it now, I simply enjoy playing antag too much to not want to sort this. Frankly, I feel like one of the people who can antag in a way to drive story compared to a lot of people we see, having several merc/heist/siege/malf/vamp/rev rounds of note that people really seemed to enjoy. I dislike cult; I've always disliked cult, and I regret ever re-enabling it. 'Twas a mistake, one I won't make again.
  22. I might just be too tired but this response confuses me, what about it is too hard without a whitelist?
  23. It's a bad meme that Vox are "shitbirds" and 9 times out of ten, their lore is completely and totally ignored. I propose a simple fix; give Vox a whitelist. What will this do? It'll make Vox a race only played by people who are actually interested in playing the race for the lore and actual characters. I'm not saying make Vox a race we see on station, but rather a race that people who want to play Merchant or Raider Vox need a whitelist to prevent people from simply memeing and playing them for the busted weapons, leap, and claws. I can't name the last time I saw a Vox follow the Inviolate.
