It's good to see the ideas expanded. I'm especially in favor of the ability of antagonists to hack it, sort of like a camera, and disable it silently or attach a signaler to set it off as a distraction for security. I also agree with the fact that it now prevents antagonists from pulling "could i talk to you in your office" trick a thousand times over. In hindsight, this mostly was an echo chamber of a post.

This has already been done in TG codebases, and I enjoy it. For starters, it allows the security officer to be assigned a place to guard and access - and in some cases, act as a liaison. But TG is far different than Aurora, and that's an understatement. I'm interested to see how this would work here, and if security posts would be added to each department as well. This would also leave, as Carver said, wiggle room for interaction with the rest of the departments. However, it would make antagonists feel the pressure of security in their department far more than before.

What are the general prerogatives and objectives of TCFL? Are they allowed to be a quasi-police force in ensuring Nanotrasen’s compliance with Biesel Law? If they don’t believe that Nanotrasen is during a round, what can they do to ensure compliance? Another question, are the sprite shown a purely hardsuits or armor? And will we be seeing a possible rename from Tau Ceti foreign legion to Biesel foreign legion? Thanks!

Reporting Personnel: Obi Mwangi Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Quartermaster Game ID: bXl-dj8v Personnel Involved: (Name, Job Title: Offender/Witness/Other) - Cassy Hendricks, Cargo Technician: Offender - Eosisei Guwan, Cargo Technician: Witness - William Bailey, Security Officer: Witness - Willow Harper, Visitor: Witness - Agramakova Antonov, Head of Personnel: Other Time of Incident: Real Time: (E.g 0500GMT 3/25/18) 6:00 PM Location of Incident: Supply Department, NSS Aurora II, Tau Ceti Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [X] - Neglect of Duty [X] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [X] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: There were several things that Cassy Hendricks did wrong during the shift. Immediately, I noticed that she and another Cargo Technician had sorted most of the warehouse and delivered it. I appreciate the deeds done by her and the other techie, Eosisei, however, what struck me afterward was her complete neglect of duty and misconduct as a Cargo Technician. Originally, she refused to obey several of my direct orders and at times ditched the department as a whole. While Cassy was under distress during the shift from an earlier incident with Security, she brought her problems with her into the department. I originally noticed this as her writing a complaint report on duty - which was fine with me. However, she took her anger out on the Department and Security as a whole when she handed out warehouse equipment to her friend, Willow Harper. I told her before she handed them out to not, since it violated the Warehouse Directive, but she ignored me and continued to give them to Harper. After warning Harper that I would call security if she did not stop, she returned the items. Next, I noticed that Cassy was missing afterwards, nowhere to be found in Supply. I went to the bar to collect some bounties there, where I saw Harper and Cassy sitting together at a table. This would have been fine if she was on break, yet she wasn't. I told her over radio to 'haul ass' back to Cargo to rebegin work. After five or so minutes after that message, she finally returned where she got close to me and sneezed on me - then to just leave again. Apparently, she had a cold and still reported back to Cargo without telling me this on radio or PDA. Due to this negligence, she had caused the infection to spread between all members of Cargo and a roboticist present. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: Agramakova Antonov, Head of Personnel Actions taken: After I had reported the misdeeds of Cassy Hendricks to the Head of Security, they referred me to the Head of Personnel who I PDA'd with the case. Mr. Antonov told us to meet in his office, which we both did. Once we had arrived, the Crew Transfer Shuttle was called and the meeting would have to be quick. Both of us told our stories, and Mr. Antonov had been given information from both sides - including myself. None the less, Mr. Antonov could not do anything about it due to the incoming CT shuttle. Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Province Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): 2137 CE Region of Space: Earth, Sol Controlled by (if not a faction): Sol Alliance Other Snapshot information: N/A Long Description: Prior to the collapse in 2172, many speculated that the United States was already on the path to total anarchy and collapse. This was proven time and time again, with the impeachment of President Roger G. Fox and the implantation of Samuel's Grey Feathers as the law enforcement for the US. While historians and political scientists cried wolf, the US continued to talk down the wayward road. With global warming causing the destruction of the environment and coastal cities, the United States took drastic measures in order to save the coastlines and major cities - to no avail. One of the most affected due to the global warming present throughout the world, and subsequently the economic crisis in 2172, the North Americas received massive spikes in unemployment, inflation, and overall economic collapse.* Causing a domino effect in the North Americas, the election of 2128 was hotly contested - with a fierce advocate for anti-immigration taking the Presidency. Legislation by the controlled congress was practically an echo chamber for the President, allowing many things to fly in these desperate times. Chinese immigrants met severe racism within the United States and even Canada, whereas refugees fleeing from Europe mostly were met with welcoming. While the President was able to solve the immigration crisis with harsh laws, he was not able to find a way to resolve the economic crisis still burdening the nation. The approval ratings nosedived, and as such, the President was unwelcome in most of his country as riots and protests swept the nation. A new, young candidate took office in 2132 promising to offer a new look at these problems. ** In an attempt to resolve the crisis, the governments of the United States, Mexico, and Canada met in Washington to discuss the prospects of a 'perfect union,' an economic collaboration of all three countries in order to curtail the spreading influence of the Chinese and other world powers - such as the USSR, who was growingly exerting their sphere of influence around Europe after the collapse of the EU.*** The talks went on for over three months before concluding with the establishment of what would now be referred to as the United Americas. The Second American Dream Act expanded the rights of immigrants and opened the gates for new cultures to stream into the continent. The culture of the United Americas began to shape itself over time to what it is at currently, a mix of all cultures in a 'boiling pot,' of which providing democracy and representation, as well as many other benefits. In the act, it described a revival of critical welfare programs and other leftist economic policies to revive the economy of the United Americas. While a good attempt, it backfired without the support of the UA's primary assembly, however - the situation gradually became better over time, allowing massive contributions to the United Nations and what would later the UA be annexed into the Sol Alliance. The lessons of the past will be ingrained forever in the American mind, to remember and to pass down the teachings to children and others. Currently, the United Americas is a hub for human culture and trade - alongside China. United American culture at the present mostly revolves around freedom and the rights of the individual. Post-2172 America is very different from the America of the past, with the continent remaining a hub for trade, immigrants to Sol, and for democracy. Potential Character Concepts Characters from the United Americas are likely to: Care deeply about Humanity, Interested in the military, foreign affairs, and the common good. Greatly value individuality, personal freedoms, and democracy. Somewhat open to Xenos, however, prefer humanity. * Due to the interconnectivity and trade between the rest of the world and the Americas, especially China. ** While this is somewhat of a Trump reference, it is a repeat of history done in order for United American characters can have a traumatic event in their culture's history like other provinces in order to differentiate themselves from other Solarians. *** The USSR made this move in order to distance Moscow from the growing threat of the Chinese and NATO.

Then again, it could possibly be abused by people who spam it constantly. Or, just people miss the message because it isn't 'vibrant' enough - if you catch my drift.

In that case, why not have a panic button in every Head's office? Kind of acting like how Officer Beepsky does if he is attacked, it immediately alerts Security through their SecHuds or on Security Channel that the Head has requested immediate assistance in their office.

BYOND Key: ComradeCorbyn Character Names: Arthur (AI), Albert (Cyborg), Gregory Mueller (Security Officer), Lawrence Baker (Medical Doctor), Oliver Lloyd (Scientist), Carter Price (Merchant), Obi Mwangi (Quartermaster Extraordinaire), Joseph Weir (Psychologist), Belai Caladius (Priest). Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Absolutely. Please provide well-articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: My interest in IPCs and Machines as a whole spiked when I began playing Spacestation 13, and at that Aurora. Machines, or positronics, are articulate and have no emotions, allowing them to act as a 'greater human' and make calculations and decisions based on facts you could say. That does not mean they cannot mimic emotions, that they do. They can also form articulate thought in 'binary' and have opinions about a variety of things. An example of this can be a synthetic thinking from raw logical thought, rather then a gut feeling about the nature of things around them. This allows for creative freedoms you could say and combined with the whole machine part of the species itself, you can have very creative and fun characters that can spice up a round and make it a bit more enjoyable for everybody. As well, I have recently been playing AI and as such Cyborgs much more. While not the same things as IPCs, they share many similarities. Identity what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: As said prior, IPCs aren't like other species were they are held by emotions and general thought. They are mechanical in nature, and as such positronics follow logic closely and as such are prone to rational thinking. They aren't held in terms of emotions whereas a Human might resist something brutishly, while a positronic might think of a resolution and not delve head first into a combat situation that would bound to kill them and injure others. In a historical sense, IPCs are not similar to others in the fact that their species was created by others and not subject to evolution and similar history. They were a bit feisty with others, being shown for instance by the Purpose faction. Not included in what I said, is the fact that some IPCs can, unfortunately, be bound to an organization. This can result in an IPC on the Aurora being chained to the Nanotrasen Corporation or other companies, resulting in their forced labor you could say for them. This can compute towards them being more laborious and attention-to-detail then others might be. Character Name: Floyd Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Originally created on Eri 3, Floyd was manufactured in the Adhama Bishop Production Facility. There, he was constructed and placed into a shell IPC model. Originally intended to work as a new type of negotiator, the idea was scrapped and rather he was programmed to deliver the news, either through good looks on visual media or through written journalism. In order to accomplish his objectives as a journalist, Bishop programmed him to make decisions based on given values of a new's stories worthiness. Most values are Timing, Significance, Proximity, Prominence, and Human Interest. Although Bishop programmed Floyd with these values with a set purpose, Floyd began using these values to dictate much of the things the positronic does. For instance, Human Interest began to rub off on him and permitted him to express - although, mostly fake for his stories - actual interest into people. This started off with Synthetic figures, before turning into other people that he might find on his workplaces. First deployed chained to Bishop Cybernetics, Floyd began working as a journalist with the Mendell City Bugle in New Gibson before the Lii'dra invasion. There, he covered a variety of pieces for the Bugle, eventually reaching his way to a Field Reporter. This was around the time of the Lii'dra invasion, where Floyd sprung into action. There, he was one of the many first responders to the attacks. Floyd prevented damage to his unit, and others while covering the attack in detail. In the aftermath of possibly the high point of his career, Floyd was reassigned from the Bugle and, calculating that he would possibly make more financial gain working at a Nanotrasen Station, begun to initiate his career with NT by requesting to move there. There, he was sent to the NSS Aurora to begin journalistic duties under the Bugle for Nanotrasen content, although still chained and technically employed by Bishop Cybernetics. On this matter, Floyd has no reason nor motive to detach himself from Bishop Cybernetics, being 'content' as much as an IPC can. Floyd also calculated that the cost of trying to purchase his freedom - especially as a Shell model, would be extremely financially costly. What do you like about this character? Personally, I enjoy Floyd because it both allows me to play a role I've always wanted to try - especially as an IPC, which is a Journalist. It will be interesting to explore what a machine would do in situations, such as newsworthy things aboard the Aurora. Secondly, I enjoy the freedom given to me when choosing stories due to my programming which is explained in the above first paragraph. As well, Floyd, I believe, will create interesting interactions with other crew members and 'spice' up rounds as much as I can. I also believe that I would be able to accurately deliver the news aboard the Aurora while doing it in my own "robotic" way. How would you rate your role-playing ability? It's solid, or roundabout. I've still had my fair share of faults roleplay wise, but none the less I try my best and I can. If I have to rate myself given on a 0/10 to 10/10 scale, I'd probably say around 8/10. I've been improving, especially since the first days I came to Aurora, but I continue to try and learn more things about my own roleplay, and about other things in general. Notes:

Clothes rework - modular, recolorable clothing
ComradeCorbyn replied to VTCobaltblood's topic in Completed Projects
I love this! I've been asking for a thing like this for a while now. In my own opinion, suit jackets should go under the jacket slot. As well, I believe that this should be enforced ICly which allows the old CIAA notice to actually be used for once by the ISD. It'll be nice to see this implemented if it will! -
BYOND key: Character names: Gregory Mueller, Carter Price, Peter Bates, Arthur Mueller (not related to Gregory Mueller), Erich Pommer How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I began playing Aurora a lot around three months or so ago. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I would like to have the Heads of Staff whitelist to play as an Internal Affairs agent, resolving disputes between employees of Nanotrasen and arbitrating affairs where IAA intervention is necessary. I also would like to be able to help the station out, by providing the aid of faxes or just general reports to Nanotrasen Central Command, and therefore, the Odin. Why did you come to Aurora?: Before Aurora, I played mostly on Baystation, Colonial Marines, TG, and occasionally goon. I was into MRP and sometimes even LRP, but I enjoyed the level of roleplay that Baystation provided, and after being recommended Aurora by a friend I began playing frequently as several roles and absolutely enjoyed it. I adored the HRP that Aurorastation required, and I developed a sense of 'community' in Aurora. While my name might not be known, I play Aurora frequently and I love what I see in the community. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have. The Head Roles mainly consist, well, of Department Heads and the IAA, which I would like to pursue. Qualifications for these roles are set in high standards, as they are a role model to younger players and have the task of leading their department during rounds. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I have not received any administrative actions so far into my time in Aurora. Please provide well-articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay, in general, is about enjoying yourself and having fun while creating fun for others. While this might not be exactly accurate, Roleplay is about adhering to general conventions set up about entering a character you might or might have not crafted shoes. Acting as them and playing as they would if they were in real life, right in front of you. This is important in deciding on what your character might do or might not, and it is important to keep in mind what you might do in your character's own shoes. For instance, this could apply in game frequently as many players have to decide on decisions in the game- not as themselves, but as their character. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: As a Head of Staff, OOCly you should be responsible for leading your department properly while making fun for others and following the rules, as well as roleplaying to act as a figure to new players. I believe, that the Heads of Staff are leaders in the Aurora community, both guiding new players and making sure the rounds uphold a level of quality, leading their departments to their best ability. They should be competent players, who more or less have a general handle of everything while maintaining a good source of roleplay. In the case of the IAA, this is to arbitrate and resolve conflicts aboard the Aurora, as well as making sure all staff complaints and reports are handled, while having the Aurora follow the "SOP" and other regulations, such as the directives, properly. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players should exemplify the qualities of good roleplay, a rule-abiding player, and a proper leader who is capable of leading their department, regardless of what may happen and stick through it and strive. As I said above, it practically copies to here as well. They should be able to teach and learn from their staff, and guide new players into the server and its gameplay. This might be through a gentle hand giving tips, or just giving a Sec Cadet or Medical Intern a walkthrough of the department. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? In Tau Ceti at the moment, there was a previous attack by the Lii'dra that devastated the city of New Gibson and other minor places, as well as the Aurora, where an attack hit and punished the Nanotrasen employees hard. Getting back up from this threat, the team on the Aurora rebuilt and reconstructed. This is where my character comes in, who would be a recent transfer after presumably the leave of an Internal Affairs Agent after the attacks, feeling unsafe, or just being transferred out for bigger and greater things away from Tau Ceti. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Internal Affairs Agent, (perhaps) Head of Personnel Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Henry Wheeler(new character) - Internal Affairs Agent Arthur Musgrave (new character) - Head of Personnel How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I believe my roleplay is satisfactory, not being the absolute best while being decent and above average. I attempt and try when I play, and I enjoy the actions and comments taken by us. All in all, I put effort into my roleplay and attempt to make it the best that I can, while learning new things. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Absolutely. We should be punished for stupid things we might due that deserve the role is removed. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yep! I am familiar with most, if not all, of the Head roles. I am also familiar with Corporate Regulations and other station-based rules, like the directives. Extra notes: Unfortunately, I am unable to play anything except humans at the moment. That might not be a big problem for me, but I would like to explore different species in the future of me playing in Aurora. I am particularly interested in IPCs and Skrell, but that's a whitelist for a later time. Thanks!

Just like the Ask a Mod/Admin thread, but for CCIA!
ComradeCorbyn replied to Owen's topic in General
Speaking of CCIA memes, what are the CCIA Agents coming aboard the Aurora during a round about? How frequently does it happen, and what is it really about? Thanks!
