The Goddess bless, I have received your call to be summoned for this 'group.' I am interested in seeing how this could develop, and how to include more in our praise of the Goddess as a worship group. When would you like to meet, when available, and who else would you like to include? Belai Caladius, Priest of the Tribunal

Kind of taken out of context there, did you read anything else?
-
Ah, jeez. Okay, one of the main issues I read was that it would be particularly easy to destroy divided security as an antag team (merc, raider, cult, et cetera). While I don't have a guaranteed fix for this, I know that Departmental Security is a thing we should embrace - that being said, in order to avoid situations where Departmental Security gets steamrolled - I'd recommend a directive, or otherwise something that Command can enact upon for Code Red (possibly even Code Blue) situations that would result in all officers, regardless of department, to assemble under the direct orders of the Head of Security. Something that popped up in my head during the shower and I didn't want to forget it, so that's why this is so barebones at the moment.

You don't need to turn on autohiss, and it's optional.

I absolutely love this idea, however, I have to agree that humanity is way too diverse for what has been suggested. Instead, I think we should continue with this idea and run with it - except how we should have different "languages" I suppose based on a character's place of birth (galaxy) and main spoken language. I don't think this idea should be ditched.
-
I agree. I'd like to see more features like this on the PDA, especially those relating to what has been proposed. +1

I love all these thus far, and it would give some sort of distinction between the Humans rather than just "yeah bro look at this flag," and I have my own idea - although not very original. Seeing and recognizing the fact that the Republic of Elyra at this time is extremely militarized and extremely prejudiced against several fronts around their border, I'd just recommend a passport card. Sort of like an ID, except with the user's photo printed on the left-hand side and some Elyran coloring to it.

Hear me out on this one, ISD Windbreakers - similar to that of the blue windbreaker found in the Forensic Technician's locker, however, this would be available to all of Security. It would also include some gold, large fonts with the letters "ISD" on the back. I don't know.

An Easy Guide to Cult for Struggling Players
ComradeCorbyn replied to Scheveningen's topic in Guides & Tutorials
when we gettin rev next? -
I agree with the opinions stated above in the fact that if this were to happen with new rebellious angsty characters popping up there would need to be some kind of player opposition, not just CCIAA as stated in the post.
-
Reposted from the Discord - Does the workers union entail possible union election and other democratic processes that involve players in a sort of "model" organization? At that, will there be something else to counter the union in that of more ATLAS presence on the station as well, or will it just be CCIA/CentCom?

Apologies for not getting to this earlier, had some real life matters to deal with and a vacation - but that's not an excuse to be making now, is it? None the less, it's great to know these reminders especially as I prepare to go into further exams and school madness in general. I'm not sure on the specifics and details, and just one new recruit can't change the role entirely, but I'd likely go about this process by first proposing changes like making the role have the ability to actually make an impact and change what is colloquially known as "shitcurity." By this umbrella term, practically meaning Internal Affairs could actually thwart bad security officers in the ISD, considering most incidents happen during antagonist interactions which aren't grounds for an incident report and most of the time don't go far enough for an OOC report. Not just this, but also giving Internal Affairs the possibility of writing notes as CCIAA do - but this would be either heavily moderated or be able to be altered like security logs already by players. Again, I'd have to talk about this a lot if I were to be selected. What will better IAA will trickle down and better CCIA. The saying by Abraham Lincoln goes for CCIA, I believe, in that the CCIA is by the people, for the people, and ultimately reporting the people. Sorry for the short answer, but I hope that solves it up.

Thanks! I've always wanted to join a part of Aurora's staff team, but I didn't know which branch up until recently. It's good to know that this will improve my chances in the future, and give me 'in-the-field experience' if you will. Now, onto the questions. I work too hard. To be frank, besides the fact that I'd rather work alone in some cases, I have trouble actually measuring how long a certain task might take - and in this case, what might somebody do in an incident report. Back to the first thing I mentioned, I enjoy being in control of situations and having the ability to assess it myself and connect the dots without a third party. One of the first things I learned for law and being an attorney proper is the fact that you connect everything the witnesses state. You likely know more than anybody else in the courtroom, second to the perpetrator themselves. Absolutely. While there are only eight current CCIAA members, I believe that's plenty to do the basic responsibilities of their job. Keyword, basic. I believe that the role of Internal Affairs should be fleshed out more then what it is now, requiring more CCIA intervention and aid. The current state of IAA is directly related to CCIAA, in my own opinion, which means that in the case of expansion for agents aboard the Aurora the CCIA should be right there able to aid in the development of the role. However, I didn't necessarily answer the question directly. Incident reports and answering faxes are the primary functions of the CCIAA, which is easy enough for the average agent on duty during a round. Said agent, in the case of fax about the round, has the responsibility to measure and judge around to determine their decision. Yes. As I stated in my application, I'm intrigued by law and politics - somehow, including the world and lore of Aurora. A CCIAA has the ability to impact this 'world' that we play in, and in that I find interest. I believe that if I get accepted, my time with the CCIAA would help develop me and prepare me for future 'legal' agendas. While I know that a role on a game won't change the fact that I won't go to Harvard Law or something like that, I find that this will also be nice to play recreationally and improve my communication skills and develop them while playing the role of a CCIAA agent. Being in the CCIAA isn't just another hopping stone for me, I want to be able to help and develop the role of Internal Affairs as well as help rounds out by providing support, such as replying to faxes and other tasks. Absolutely. As I said in the previous question, this isn't just a hopping stone for me. I'd like to stay with the CCIAA for a long time, and while I don't doubt that I'd have to leave the role someday if I get accepted, I'd still like to relish the time and valuable lessons learned from being an agent with the CCIAA. I wouldn't consider there be any major roadblocks ahead, but I do see school becoming a problem in the future - but I doubt that it would affect my work in the long-term. Other than that, I also would like to think that I'm not very lazy, but the truth is I can procrastinate often when a task becomes too difficult or other facts of the matter. While I don't believe that I'll throw my towel in the ring, it still might be a problem if I get stuck in a dead-end during an investigation or other tasks. I'd like to think that I can always reach out to other colleagues for help when this occurs. I like red tape and paperwork, so that's a real boon. Excluding that, I also enjoy investigating things often - and you get to do that few and far between usually. I like to create things, especially in terms of paperwork, and other stuff. Regardless, if I had to chose something I'd think one of my greatest strengths is the fact that I like to see things through. Losing your own patience and becoming flustered and angry is a one-way ticket to hell. You need to stay calm and keep your cool, and make sure they understand that you're not against them per se. If they're mad or angry, your first priority should be calming them down then executing what you want to do. While that decision is ultimately up to you, I think I'd make a great CCIAA. With me, I bring my skills and strengths to the office and my own ideas of how to operate the department - while not infringing on the standard procedure for an agent.

CCIA Staff Application Basic Information Byond key: ComradeCorbyn Character names: Arthur, Arthur Musgrave, Albert, Cooper, Carter Price, Peter Langley, Kamar Mwangi, Daniel Kiefer, Henry Lance, Simon Price, Gregory Mueller Age: 16 Timezone: EST What times are you most available?: Usually most of the weekends, and 2 PM - 12 AM on the weekdays. Experience How long have you played SS13?: A year. How long have you played on Aurora?: Roughly five months or around that. How active on the forums, discord and/or server are you?: While I'm trying to get more involved in the forums, I'm fairly active on the discord and I'm extremely active on the server in my opinion. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Negative. Yet. Have you ever volunteered as moderation staff for any other servers, SS13 or otherwise?: I was a moderator and admin on SCP13, and that taught me a lot about moderating in general on SS13, especially varediting. I wouldn't consider my time on SCP13 anything special though. There, I also learned how to properly moderate and arbitrate conflicts as well as spark some interesting ones as well. Do you have any other experience that you believe would be relevant to a position in the CCIA?: I'm an avid fan of bureaucracy and paperwork. It's like a giant puzzle piece that substitutes a piece with a form, and everything clicks on the grand scheme of things. I am actually good at paperwork though, and I'm currently studying for law. Personality Why do you want to join the CCIA?: When I first heard that the CCIA existed, I first thought to myself those are some neat uniforms. Then I thought to myself that I'd like to be one of those Agents one day. I'm no stranger to Internal Affairs, especially on separate servers, and I enjoy having the duties of making the round semi-sane in my opinion. This would also be a somewhat new experience and feeling to me, and I'd like to explore the options presented to me by being CCIA. Too often than not, I feel like Internal Affairs could have more of a presence on rounds - and not in a bad way. I'd like to be one of those who can cause changes ICly as well, and leaving a splash in the aurora sized pool. What do you think are the most important qualities for a CCIA Agent to possess?: A fine moral compass. And I'm being serious about it, it's good to know right from wrong especially when you're in the wrong. You have to understand and recognize the facts and put your emotions aside as well and understand and perceive both OOC and IC in regards to lasting impacts on characters and developments. Next, you'd also need a firm understanding of Nanotrasen Corporate Regs, Directives, CCIA Notices (duh), and other information pertinent to your duties in regards to cases and decisions you'll have to make. What do you think the purpose of a CCIA Agent is in an ongoing round?: While hands-on work may be required occasionally, I think it's best to keep away from a running round unless duty calls. I've seen antagonists get shut down because their announcement had a typo in it, or they didn't have [x] or [y], and often then not they try to fax CentCom for a reason behind the problem at hands. None the less, CCIA should be responsible for maintaining the balance of around and spicing it up occasionally. As well, their purpose also includes agenda items like interviewing for incident reports, following through and replying to faxes, and other miscellaneous things. What do you think the purpose of a CCIA Agent is outside of the server?: While the duty of a moderator and CCIAA differ vastly, they share the same qualities when out of character and not moderating. They represent Aurora's staff team, and as such should be able to handle themselves and represent it to the best of their abilities. For CCIAA, they should also be active on the forums and other means of communication - most importantly incident reports and the like. How do you handle stress?: At first, going into moderation in SS13 was a giant leap for me. I didn't think I could handle the screaming ahelps about an assistant robusting somebody in maintenance with a toolbox, or the [x] going loose and destroying the station because of a new guy's rookie mistake. While CCIA is vastly different from moderation oocly, they share similar qualities when controlling stress and not freaking the fuck out in the middle of a round. I learned the 'art' of not doing just that, and I think I can keep it up. How well do you work autonomously?: I like it when I work together with people to accomplish things, but what good does that do in the grand scheme of things when they steal your ideas? None the less, as I said I enjoy being with other people - especially when learning about new stuff - however I'm able to do my due diligence alone as well. Additional Notes: I'm currently on trial for a Heads of Staff whitelist, and I hope this doesn't get in the way of that. However, I'm excited to see if this application goes well, as it would be my first staff position in Aurora.

Although I am no expert in this matter, I'd say the autonomy of post-modern sci-fi with autonomous sects of Catholicism, spread out across the galaxy between sector to sector, would cause some sort of sect(s) to break off. This may be very interesting to see in game, and would develop the religious lore and at that human lore significantly in my opinion. This has a lot of potential currently, and I would love to see this developed. I would like to see bluespace discussed within beliefs possibly, and at that how the distance from Rome many chapters have to face, not being able to reach the papacy in a timely manner. Edit: Adding on to what I said, it may be interesting to see a new improptu "third" bible developed possibly by the Sons of Cain, maybe denied by the Church or something. Might be a little overkill, but it would do for some neat stuff.

I like the yellow design of the anomaly suits at the moment. However, I like the idea of having a clear and concise voidsuit for RnD with a clear visor as proposed. However, in my own opinion, I dislike the grey and purple color scheme. That's just me though, and it's a minor quarrel I have with the design.

BYOND key: ComradeCorbyn Character names: Gregory Mueller, Carter Price, Peter Bates, Arthur, Albert, Peter Langley, Kamar Mwangi, Simon Price, Lawrence Baker, Cooper How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I began playing Aurora a lot around five months or so before. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I would like to have the Heads of Staff whitelist to play as an Internal Affairs agent, resolving disputes between employees of Nanotrasen and arbitrating affairs where IAA intervention is necessary. I also would like to be able to help the station out, by providing the aid of faxes or just general reports to Nanotrasen Central Command, and therefore, the Odin. While this is just limited to the Internal Affairs side of the whitelist, I also want to be able to help manage and command departments and show off the management in me. Why did you come to Aurora?: Before Aurora, I played mostly on Baystation, Colonial Marines, TG, and occasionally goon. I was into MRP and sometimes even LRP, but I enjoyed the level of roleplay that Baystation provided, and after being recommended Aurora by a friend I began playing frequently as I have. The Head Roles mainly consist, well, of Department Heads and the IAA, which I would like to pursue. Qualifications for these roles are set in high standards, as they are a role model to younger players and have the task of leading their department during rounds. several roles and absolutely enjoyed it. I adored the HRP that Aurora station required, and I developed a sense of 'community' in Aurora. While my name might not be known, I play Aurora frequently and I love what I see in the community. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have. The Head Roles mainly consist, well, of Department Heads and the IAA, which I would like to pursue. Qualifications for these roles are set in high standards, as they are a role model to younger players and have the task of leading their department during rounds. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: Once, regarding drinking some holy water found on the ground. Other than that, small disciplinary actions involving minor stunts. Please provide well-articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is and should be about: Roleplay, in general, is about enjoying yourself and having fun while creating fun for others. While this might not be exactly accurate, Roleplay is about adhering to general conventions set up about entering a character you might or might have not crafted shoes. Acting as them and playing as they would if they were in real life, right in front of you. This is important in deciding on what your character might do or might not, and it is important to keep in mind what you might do in your character's own shoes. For instance, this could apply in game frequently as many players have to decide on decisions in the game- not as themselves, but as their character. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: As a Head of Staff, OOCly you should be responsible for leading your department properly while making fun for others and following the rules, as well as roleplaying to act as a figure to new players. I believe, that the Heads of Staff are leaders in the Aurora community, both guiding new players and making sure the rounds uphold a level of quality, leading their departments to their best ability. They should be competent players, who more or less have a general handle of everything while maintaining a good source of roleplay. In the case of the IAA, this is to arbitrate and resolve conflicts aboard the Aurora, as well as making sure all staff complaints and reports are handled, while having the Aurora follow the "SOP" and other regulations, such as the directives, properly. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players should exemplify the qualities of good roleplay, a rule-abiding player, and a proper leader who is capable of leading their department, regardless of what may happen and stick through it and strive. As I said above, it practically copies to here as well. They should be able to teach and learn from their staff and guide new players into the server and its gameplay. This might be through a gentle hand giving tips, or just giving a Sec Cadet or Medical Intern a walkthrough of the department. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? In Tau Ceti at the moment, there was a previous attack by the Lii'dra that devastated the city of New Gibson and other minor places, as well as the Aurora, where an attack hit and punished the Nanotrasen employees hard. Getting back up from this threat, the team on the Aurora rebuilt and reconstructed. This is where my character comes in, who would be a recent transfer after presumably the leave of an Internal Affairs Agent after the attacks, feeling unsafe, or just being transferred out for bigger and greater things away from Tau Ceti. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted?: Internal Affairs Agent, (perhaps) Head of Personnel, Head of Security. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Cooper - Internal Affairs Agent Arthur Musgrave (new) - Head of Personnel Kamar Mwangi - Head of Security How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I believe my roleplay is satisfactory, not being the absolute best while being decent and above average. I attempt and try when I play, and I enjoy the actions and comments taken by us. All in all, I put effort into my roleplay and attempt to make it the best that I can, while learning new things. I believe I have improved a lot from the time I first joined Aurora those times ago. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?: Absolutely. We should be punished for stupid things we might due that deserve the role is removed. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?: Yep! I am familiar with most, if not all, of the Head roles. I am also familiar with Corporate Regulations and other station-based rules, like the directives. Extra notes:

I like what ideas have been generated thus far, and I like decentralizing security into the departments. This, in addition to other things, will increase interaction with the departments and the antagonists as well as each other. However, in my opinion, to make this work we'd need to prevent everybody in the department just grabbing their plasteel spears and R&D laser weapons to go and get some antag blood, but allow the guard to actually guard them. This doesn't mean totally eliminating non-security involvement in combat against antags, but rather prevent random people from dunking on them.
