  1. A more up-to-date thread is here, as the PR has changed in scope:
  2. Old thread here: PR, Here: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/8130 In short, this PR makes the Liver somewhat more robust and nerfs everything that can cause direct toxin loss to account for brainmed's changes. This probably won't be the last PR to make a balance change, but this is probably the first. Vents will also stop spitting Acid, Plant-B-Gon, Ethanol, Pepperspray and Radium. They'll stop killing people, now. And won't spit Cheese Wheels, you spoilsports.
  3. When I need to look at some lizard booty or i will LITERALLY EXPLODE Jokes aside; It should be atleast mandatory to have an armband; something, if you're doing a casual friday. Departments like Med, Eng and Sec def. need to be identifiable easy, and lesser departments atleast vaguely understood, I think.
  4. Oh! I thought lube was a child of toxin/ or similar. Back it goes. Spontaneous, unavoidable, injuries are rarely good for interaction. Forcing players to interact via randomly throwing reagents into their bloodstream is not conducive to anyone's enjoyment of the game. This event is bad for achieving this goal in my opinion; there are better ways to get people to interact. That's... The goal here? Cheese Wheels is a meme, and a (failed) attempt to see if it was even possible. It won't be kept (as soon as I get around to pushing a commit.) Hot Chocolate does nothing; Not sure why it's on the list. Paint is toxic and Luminol has a chance to reveal dirty traitor secrets.
  5. I'll go down your list with my reasoning for all of these! cleaner - to avoid scrubbers cleaning their own messes lube - The Lube reagent is toxic if ingested; Corn Oil functions the same but doesn't hurt the liver. holywater - Decults People, Frenzies Vampies, prevents wizards from teleporting onto the tiles, hurts constructs; A lot of Antagonist interference at random. hyperzine - 35u of Hyperzine is an overdose; this will cause toxin damage and possibly heart damage. ipecac/mindbreaker/space drugs: While not directly harmful, people won't know that IC, and all of these require a trip to medical to get back to status quo, generally.
  6. At the behest of Mattlas, I make this thread! A link to the PR in question: https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/8092 As it stands, the backflow event is incredibly lethal if you are unlucky, AFK, both, or simply walking down the halls. About half the reagents in the list will result in a trip to medbay, and some of them will kill you, very dead, very quickly, such as Radium, Plant-B-Gone, Sulphuric Acid and Hyperzine; as you get dosed with 35 units of each of these, if in a cloud. If you're an Unathi, add Ethanol to this list; as you'll be in an alcohol coma if you don't keel over and go into a more permanent coma. The Backflow event has some harmless things too; flour, water, lube (to make people mad at janitors, chemists and scientists alike) and blood. This PR's goal is to avoid and lower amount of people who get sprayed in the face with Sulphuric Acid and get their heads melted or people who get sprayed with Plant-B-Gone and die in 15 minutes from cascading organ death that Medical can't treat as it stands. Thus, this PR removes the most harmful reagents, and keeps only minorly harmful and mess-making reagents, while adding more of the same. The reasoning behind this is also simple; People go AFK often, people like to roleplay. A scrubber melting everyone's head as they stand next to it, or poisoning everyone next to it is... a bit much. These aren't easy to avoid, either. Most of Aurora is in range of a Scrubber, simply because of how mapping must be done. The only way to avoid getting sprayed is to weld the scrubbers, which... sets a poor precedent for players, and would make no sense IC, and promote powergaming. This PR will make Janitor's lives worse. There will be messes. Maybe they can justify their access now.
  7. Any reagents that cause harm to people will never, ever, be used outside the most dire of circumstances. Bicaridine is a common chemical used to help people recover, not stay in a fight; there is no reason to do this, and is baseless. 20% brute resistance is mediocre at best and negligible at keeping you alive under brainmed. It simply means some things that can pop your arteries, wont, and you're a little harder to delimb. Do not do this. This doesn't solve a problem, and causes several.
  8. Skygazer's always been fun to interact with and their character, singular, has always been well thought out and played well enough to the point that I forget that the person on the other end is someone i post cursed memes at. I don't see enough Lizard Consulars; let alone clanmates, on Aurora so this is a very welcome addition indeed, and I can certainly attest to Skygazer's experience. He is not a good boy though. Very evil. +1
  9. The last thing I'd want to do is lead you astray by selling myself short; I Do have problems with Burnout. It's simply a fact of me. This said; I've burned out in staff positions before rather violently in ye olden times on Baystation; And it's certainly a worry in the back of my head. With the preword done, I'll simply say, I'm certainly willing to take on and heed advice regarding disagreements, even heavy ones. I'm hoping a deputy position won't result in huge flame wars over things I aid in creating, but I can't say in good faith that I'm invulnerable. I'm certainly excited to help in the polishing of Unathi lore, and I don't feel dissuaded by your worries. I simply hope I can learn to cover my weaknesses.
  10. Is there something specific you'd want to look at? I don't have anything super easily on hand, at the moment.
  11. Ckey/BYOND Username: Aticius Why are you interested in applying for a Unathi Deputy position?: I've been enthralled with how much detail there is in Unathi lore since essentially Day 1 of being a part of Aurora's Community. What will you want to focus on if we take you on? Why?: Ground Level Unathi Lore; the parts that matter most to RP; Things like expanding on food, work, daily life. These details are of the utmost importance to designing a believable character! What is Unathi lore to you? What niche does it fill for our setting?: The Unathi fill a niche that isn't quite Tribals-In-Space, but come very close to it. In reality, some fusion of Knights In Space, Tribals In Space, and a very large Aesop about introducing technology to those not ready for it. Do you have examples of past commitments for creative works? (Hosting or playing in a DnD setting or otherwise proving you can devote time to the position): I'm currently In a DnD campaign, and I've been a Lore Deputy previously on Baystation, as well as being a Species Maintainer. Sometimes our community can be very aggressive in response to lore developments; can you feel easily defeated by hostility towards your work? I'll be honest and say, Yeah, I think I can get pretty easily deflated. Additional Comments: lizard emoji
  12. As a recent expat to Aurora; Please, fuck, rename the antivirals. I still dont know what the fuck they mean.
  13. After some talks and consideration; I think it's fine to close this. Kihatomay's apologized, and I think we've reached a good rapport following this.
  14. I've said this to you before, and I'll say it again. Actual, Lethality, from firearms is very much unchanged. However; their actual function of stopping someone from shooting you has gone way down. There needs to be an increase in pain, or perhaps exaggerate slowdown from pain to account for it. Maybe implement random item dropping, if someone is in too much pain. Increasing lethality on brainmed should be done with utmost care.
  15. I deeply enjoyed participating in this Arc; It's my first one, and even though I missed more than half of the event rounds; I ended up getting thrown into the deep end irregardless and becoming more than healthily involved. This said; The Tups were played up as a very large and very observant threat; but never seemed to make due on many of their threats until the last event; and by then, it was too late. The Tups came off as Very totalitarian, and never seemed to show any redeeming qualities or reasons to cooperate; Just reasons to not. This worked just fine in practice, and helped play up how bad the Federation was, and with very good examples, and, indeed, the pieces of backstory I heard about Lyrii and Co. didn't paint a very warm picture. But if the options are brainwashing/death versus maybe not brainwashing/death, the latter is the reasonable side to take. Deeply enjoyed.
  16. BYOND Key: Aticius Game ID: b5f-dt95 Player Byond Key/Character name: Kihatomay / Yang Staff involved: TrickingTrapster, SonicGotNuked Reason for complaint: Disagreement with how this was/has been handled. Extremely poor player conduct; Metagrudging. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes! The Moderator in question seemed to have given Kihatomay a "Last Chance" Approximate Date/Time: 3:00, PST, 1/17/2020 It's a Ninja Round. Ninjas are Ninja-ing, one of them isn't super spooky, and is cloaked while interacting with the Protolathe in essentially full view. I report this over Comms, time passes. The following happens, in the RnD Lab. This is the entire log of the sparking incident for this complaint: https://pastebin.com/QGp15iX6 While this may have been a one off oopsie daisy, "I'm new to antagging!", this is clearly not the case. Kihatomay plays antags frequently, and poorly and has claimed that they're not new to the server. However, in this round, they felt the need to target me, and then not go after any further people, and, indeed, Roleplayed with others and during all other incidents of combat, he made no attempt to directly execute; During my ahelp: this was said over OOC: This comment was said, during the Ahelp. For context: my character has been rather harsh to his own character; and has been very salty over my interactions with him, antag or not, since returning. He seems to take issue (and, indeed, twists the facts) with how I play, and seems to have started singling me out, and I believe this is a culmination of this. In short, I firmly believe they hold a Metagrudge over me over how I have played ICly. His comments about "Lab Assistants making SMGs" is a direct reference to a Plasma Cutter made during the round. This is not an isolated incident, either. Many people have had poor interactions with Kihatomay, and I ask anyone who has had their own poor experience with Yang, James Praxton, or are aware of other characters Kihatomay has played to raise their own concerns.
  17. Ati's "Help i've played too much brainmed" suggestion: Why do we have Physician? This role seems superfluous. I think the ideal splitting of jobs, to avoid silly situations of >5 nurses, no surgeons would be to split the jobs on a very simple premise: Can they do Surgery or Not? Thus, 2 Surgeons, 4 Physicians. Make Nurse a subtitle of Physician. The roles are clearly defined, There's little to no slot fighting. After all; What is a Physician's Role, compared to a Nurse? More jobs means more slot fighting.
  18. I can't speak for anyone but myself here; but at first, Legionnaires sounded like "Okay, these are the boots, Volunteers are like rookies." I still don't know where the pilot sits in the chain, and I don't know what's above Prefect. It feels like a smattering, and in a bad way, rather than something vaguely organized. If I had to suggest something, Legionnare becoming Specialist to more directly tell people that, yeah, these are people specifically trained to do a specific thing, rather than the bulk of the force. Maybe also adjust the amount of roles available for the ERT? I don't know how it looks, to be honest.
  19. For what it's worth; the TCFL has never felt plucky, or even very militia to someone relatively new. They've come off firmly as "Underequipped, but professional." These name changes are reasonable; but the whole roman aesthetic gives me a bad feel. New names entirely and probably lore tweaks are called for if we really want them to be plucky yeehawers
  20. +1 I'm fucking floored that this shit is even possible.

I returned to RnD to find the prototype missing and immediately reported this over Common. Shortly thereafter, Bling-35 returned it in the same condition as it was taken and the HoS at the time was informed via PDA of the person who stole it. Bling-35 named Collin Krucke as the thief and this was relayed to the HoS. Krucke soon denied the theft and claimed he was at no fault, before leaving via Cryogenic Storage. 22. This seems like a really, really, big stretch. FWIW, I do think the blue/yellow necropolis colors look good.
  23. This, this this this. Mistakes happen- bugs, incompetence, the like. Giving a last ditch, emergency, procedure that brings a player back int the round is a good thing; even if it doesnt bring them back in more than an RP sense. Having a way to bring a player back in a lessened capacity is a good thing, i feel, and won't punish players for someone else not knowing what they're doing. (Heart restarts are already a thing. Adrenaline, CPR, Defibrillators.)
  24. It doesn't. I'm not a fan of cult to begin with, but this simply won't help.
  25. I do not like this, and I think this entire rework is based around a flawed concept from the very start. This gamemode turns "Avoid the Cultists, because they will gank you." into "Avoid the Cultists, because they will annoy you to shit, while ganking you." The ability to passively, and secretly, afflict players with messages indiscriminately that force people into "Insane RP" opens so many bad doors and will encourage horrible RP from all those involved. People will be extremely likely to just use Corruption as an excuse to chucklefuck and grief, possibly all the way up to murder people because "Im insane, lol" On a gameplay side, the ability to indiscriminately and corrupt people without a clear source will lead to people metagaming the shit out of this rework, particularly foul totems. E.g. "Wow, I suddenly have a headache, I should check maintenance, so I don't get forced to do Insane RP and be forced to have constant hallucinations." Everything, mechanically, seems to be pushing players to not engage with the cultists in any way or form. Unless the concept behind this is changed, I don't see any way this could be supported in place of the Murder-Focused cult we have.
