BYOND Ckey: TheStripes Discord username: weakestcreature Character names: Vien Xuan Pham, Alusuxa Morooi, Muu Wiibiq, Glory Bautista-Nase, Jun Leung, Isang Mahinay, others Species you are applying to play: Tajara ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: A duller variant of Njarir'Akhran’s Half-Knuckle White (cdaf95). Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: Tajara are one of the most engrossing to read species on Aurora, having an expansive culture and history that’s unique to them in a way that I think is only at parity to itself. Being one of the two species to be “uplifted” through contact with other alien species, and just as much live in the aftermath of their subsequent societal upheaval in its wake. With the events from the twin revolutions still shaking Adhomai in the modern day, tajara feel extremely involved in their own politics, even if they may have less involvement in the Spur’s greater issues like the ongoing scarcity. I like the range of reactions to the immense culture shock all of this coalesces into, with their relationship with other aliens and their concerns with the ultimate future fate of their society and species. Beyond that, the sheer amount of written culture for them has been a joy to read, ranging from the S’rand’marr to the cultures of the three major powers. It’s engrossing to read all of the details. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Beyond the most immediate and obvious physical differences in temperature tolerances and build, tajaran history has caused extremely divergent genetic lines that form the pillars of their ethnicities. With these, they’ve separated from each other culturally through the caste system that still pervades their societies to the modern day. This caste system still influences tajaran culture from its ubiquity in the past, with literacy and literature only shifting towards acceptance in society after the revolutions, and the history of serfdom still taking generations to shake off its effects as Adhomai embraces urbanization and new societal structures. Divided between the major powers, tajara from the People’s Republic would live increasingly divergent lives compared to their kin from the Democratic People’s Republic and the New Kingdom, living under the wildly different structures of their nations. Republican tajara have greater access to amenities and modernized production methods, and adhere to the Hadiist tenets with an expected level of loyalty. Al’mariist tajara live under a swathe of differing circumstances that changes between zones of military control and their juntas, though most variably align to the Al’mariist belief of self-determination, and tajara-first politics. While the New Kingdom still pines for the original structures of serfdom and nobility, even they have embraced the advancements first contact granted them. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Sahimkurii Kaimi-ilimaji [full native name Sahimkurii B'urr Kaimi-ilimaji | xeno-name Radmila Skoro (now discarded)] Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Born in the city of B’urr in the year of 2447, Sahimkurii was born to a half-Njarir, half-Hharar mother, and a Hharar father. Though never being told the origin of her Njarir’Akhan coat and remaining proportions—her grandfather, a minor nobleman who fell into disgrace by sleeping outside of the designated family line and inadvertently saving his bastard daughter from his own eventual death at the hands of First Revolution’s purging of nobility—her mixed appearance earned her some discrimination at the hands of her fellow youths. Born fourteen years after the formation of the PRA and four years after the Ruka’s launch, both of her parents and surrounding community benefited immensely from the revolutionary fervor and the promise of a better future within the newly-formed republic, and embraced the Hadiist culture faithfully. Sahimkurii’s initial childhood consisted of school, the youth brigade, and experiencing early childhood until reaching the age of four. With Al’mari Hadii’s death while she was four years old by 2451, the second revolution and the formation of the rebel forces would directly affect her life. Her home of B’urr is captured and occupied by the ALA, only to be liberated later fully by 2459. Her father would then be conscripted to aid in the fighting afterwards, only seeing him again years later as the armistice is signed, and the draft’s closure five years later. The conflict saw her go through periods of food insecurity and worsening discrimination for her mixed ancestry, and her father’s eventual return rendered him a changed, distant man for the rest of their time together. While already a nominally S'rand'marr household, Sahimkurii’s father would become a devout believer, though he would not pass the tests required to become a Son of Dawn. While harrowed by the suffering brought on by the war, Sahimkurii’s life was not entirely defined by both revolutionary conflicts. As a child, she was an amateur Makkra Baq player in her school’s arts classes, and was usually called upon to sound the Mah Kii (or, a horn that was passed off as such) during play-war sessions in her Youth Brigade. Her behavior as a child was primarily anxious between the usual childhood playfulness, seeking out sources of affirmation in her use and skill out of a need for validation. While a middling student academically, her sociability among her peers and discipline to her teachers made her a pleasure to have among her peers. Hadiism became more of an anchor for Sahimkurii as her education and mother’s loyalty to orthodox Hadiism provided a system of reasons for all that happened around her (despite not having much bearing on politics as a child), though her father’s drift further towards religion put him at odds with the secular state. Towards her teens, this growing rift eventually led to arguments between herself and her father as their views turned at odds with each other, becoming resistant to being made to attend worship and adhere to traditions. This came to a breaking point where she stepped out of the home during the Darkest Eclipse and stayed outside for several hours before losing her nerve and returning, much to both her parents’ relief (and fear). In spite of reconciling between each other afterwards, the lasting distance between Sahimkurii and her father never fully mended, and she never returned to embracing S’rand’marr worship. Sahimkurii aged out of the newly formed Hadii’s Youth Clubs by the age of sixteen after graduating from public school by 2463, and joined B’urr’s National Police Department section. Despite her original interest in serving the Republican army in lieu of affording college, her mother’s pleading and father’s change in demeanor after his service ultimately steered her away from enlistment. Her career as a police cadet lasted three years, primarily bookmarked through constant overwork in attempts to clamp down on rampant portside crime, and long hours of customs checks at the ports. Though primarily monotonous, some rare few assignments pressed to her in the city of B’urr would never leave her, being either part of an extensive criminal network both domestic and off-world, or unsolved violent acts against her fellow tajara. Now a politically aware adult, Sahamkurii would watch as the cold war deepened around her as she worked, though her bias against the DPRA would remain due to her early experiences with B’urr’s occupation and her father’s experience against ALA insurgents. While President Harrlala is, ultimately, someone with altruistic intentions at her heart, she sees her position as an ineffective leader over groups of ideologically backwards juntas and bandit warlords. The NKA, however, is only met with scorn at being a completely backwards and regressive society that would rob her of common decency and rights. Ultimately finding life as a beleaguered cadet demoralizing and frustrating, Sahimkurii eventually caught wind of Nexus Corporate Security by the turn of the new year of 2466 while conversing with her fellow cadets, with some expressing interest in working under Nanotrasen’s private security firm. Despite being no stranger to the megacorporation and its presence within the People’s Republic, Nanotrasen and Private Military Contracting Group’s Nexus Corporate Security recruitment arm was an unfamiliar step into an unfamiliar place - laboring off-world. Now nineteen years old, her childhood anxious drive for validation shifted towards a workaholic, competitive nature, with her relationships varying the spectrum of friendly rivalries and bitter grudges against those she sees as having held her back. While still publicly an Orthodox Hadiist, her time in the national police caused a cursory interest in the Totalist school of thought, and kept literature on Headmaster Tyr'adrr’s political planning. Packaged with a smoking habit, a growing preference for six packs of Hro'zamal, and her relative grasp of Tau Ceti Basic, Sahimkurii’s first year of service within Nexus began. All of her initial service consisted of security attachments to shipping freighters, mining installations, and refineries towards the phoron industry for the rest of 2466 and early 2467, all of which came with the shock of leaving S’rand’marr behind for the rest of the Spur. Being in close proximity of the Republic of Biesel during her work closer to the Romanovich Cloud and the phoron supply lines outwards, Sahimkurii’s brief stays in Mendell City and stints to Little Adhomai only shook her further as she experienced off-world tajara communities firsthand. Her time abroad left her in an uncomfortably undecided state of her views, having left Little Adhomai each time with a mix of the worst and most hopeful parts of the city stewing in her head. Totalist Hadiism both held a viewable, physical reason behind its interest in securing the off-world tajara communities, as well as equally a potentially incalculable mistake. Later towards mid-2467, a new opening was presented to Sahimkurii as a new assignment due to her consistent good performance. The SCCV Horizon was seeking more security personnel to add to its complement for its future flight plans, and with some luck, her application was accepted. Biesel and the phoron supply routes would be left behind, for now. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Much of Sahimkurii’s life was directly impacted by the events within the Orion Spur, having been directly affected by the influence of megacorporate influence both before her birth, and afterwards. Being an audience to the news reports of the proliferation of nuclear weapons within the DPRA, the expedition of the Horizon to the northern pole, and the distantly reported violence in the earlier years of the decade surrounding Little Adhomai. While insulated by the Phoron Scarcity due to Adhomai’s slow absorption of phoronic technology, the rising costs of imported goods and travel off-world was still felt by her as much as any other citizen of the PRA. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Nexus Corporate Security exists in an awkward dual state. Nanotrasen is a desired ally of the People’s Republic of Ahomai, and as such is seen in a positive light in Sahimkurii’s eyes. Their effort in uplifting tajara towards a space age society is seen as their most valuable contribution to the species as a whole, the PMCG is seen in a much less positive light. As an explicit arm of the extremely violent modern era, their existence as a successful market niche, particularly towards ex-law enforcement such as herself, puts her at an uncomfortable intersection from her original intentions of entering law enforcement to better society. The existence of the Eridani PMCs technically sharing the same corporation as her, particularly with Ringspire’s exploits, makes her question her position as extracting pay from a violent line of work.

Player Complaint -- Ishwari Gajuti
Stripes replied to FlamingLily's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Hi, I'm Vien's player. This was whole altercation involving the security call when Vien locked them in was after she corrected him multiple times, and that character responding by seemingly accepting what he did wasn't acceptable, and then not correcting their behavior anyway. That made it go from being an honest, correctable mistake to very blatant disregard and disrespect of what was a character that is transgender woman telling someone to stop misgendering her by calling her "sir", which doesn't matter whether or not it's used without an intent to gender because it's inherently a masculine term. It doesn't really matter for "vibes" or how they acted LOOC, because what happened was separate with your character who wasn't the person involved. Whether or not LOOC could have been used, this kind of behavior that did sound very much like a case of a character being transphobic isn't allowed, and precedent was set before regarding transphobia with that kind of behavior not being allowed, per Evandorf's own statement above: -
Sniblet's Skrell Application Episode IV: A New Hope
Stripes replied to Sniblet's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi, Sniblet, thanks for applying! With your application, I will say that viewing them from the lens of being "exotic humans" might make playing a skrell a bit more difficult with likening them to "elves" or just a variant of humanity. Skrell do, as you also have pointed out, have different values and perception of reality that differ immensely from humanity, even before psionics add on to that. The lack of facial expressions do also compound with their different comprehension of humor and social structures with humanity - try to keep these in mind! Skrell are also at odds with the corporatocracy in comparison with the Nralakk Federation as much as there is some overlap between being generally more preferential towards a central structure that provides to their citizens in lieu of personal freedoms, but I wouldn't view skrell as being inherently in tune with the megacorporations' position within human society. Beyond these tips, I'd like you to answer these questions: How does Miq feel about dionae and vaurca within the Nralakk Federation? Beyond those two species in the Federation, how do they perceive the other species of the Spur, like tajara and unathi? What about skrell born ad living outside of the Federation? What is Miq's SCI score, and how does Miq feel about their score? Do they follow a Federation-endorsed religion, or something else? With their work within the Bureau of Void Technology, what is it that they do specifically within it? What do they feel about Lu'Piq technology, and its potential uses despite its history? Miq was stated to be a notable empath, and a strong Receiver who experiences greater emotional effects from the Nlom. How do they interface with the fact that the Nlom is also mediated by the Federation and its relay beacons to enforce conformity through it? -
The pharmacy does already get inhalers and injectors, you get the refillable ones with replaceable cartridges in a box? Were you referring to something else? Unless the key is more, but you should be reusing them considering you as a pharmacist can readily refill both with your tools (and IC know-how), and, I'm generally very against the idea of making chemical cocktails, mostly on the basis of it being more difficult to track for other people (it's easier when a physician or paramedic individually injects someone with it), and it opens it up to the realm of things that mostly there to be gamey (the hell of things like "ParaOxyTram", or I guess this server would be "PercMortaOxy").

Beyond game mechanics (I really don't think you should be self-sufficient enough like this where you can ignore being hurt when medical is present), this is really trusting on having random crew being willing to jab themselves/jab each other with syringes? It's very muted with how it's displayed in game, but I really don't think chemical cocktail pens are something the company would spend the money on at the risk of people immediately overdosing and hurting themselves from getting poked twice from themselves or two overzealous coworkers.

Reporting Personnel: Vien Xuan Pham Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Hangar Technician Game ID: The round prior to cBa-aeHx Personnel Involved: Rabi Bali, Shaft Miner - Offender Vien Xuan Pham - Victim Chia Li - Shaft Miner - Witness Philip Jesse - Shaft Miner - Witness Time of Incident: ~16:25 MST 08/18/2025 Location of Incident: Operations Warehouse Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [X] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [X] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: Around noted time, I arrived to the warehouse to find that Rabi Bali, Chia Li, and Philip Jesse were present in the warehouse as I stepped in. As Rabi Bali had a habit of attempting to swipe objects in the warehouse, and all three of them were standing together with Chia sounding guilty, I asked if anything had been taken. Chia began to speak before Rabi immediately interjected that his behavior (which I wasn't aware of at the time) was excusable because I wasn't present. After telling them to vacate so I could begin my work, Rabi threatened to break into my dormitory (to apparently "shit in my bunk") if I sent all the medical supplies to medical, which is the purpose of my job in the warehouse. I also noted that Chia Li stated that Rabi had taken a katana from the warehouse beforehand. Because of this, I corrected him over the radio in that if he wanted mortaphenyl (which he and other miners stated seeking from the warehouse in the past), he can simply request medical after I had sent it. Auil'suos Insuso-Haq'tola'zlip, the captain as of that shift, interjected by stating that the channel I said as much in was monitored, which prompted Rabi to begin insulting and became only more aggressive towards me. I stated as much to Auil'suos the situation above, that I told them not to take from the warehouse without a proper release form signed and received by me or another hangar technician. Due to the other miners and Rabi continuing to protest by this point, I stated that any real requests can be sent to my PDA's messenger, and removed my headset. I was later visited by Captain Auil'suos, who asked exactly what the situation was, to which I stated my personal account. While they stated that security would be involved, I never heard anything forthcoming from security from the situation. Later on, after the miners returned from their trip, they had captured salvage, which included firearms. Rabi made a point of showing a revolver he found while I was nearby, which was engraved with the name "Technician's Lament", and spun the barrel loudly while I was present. While he never spoke during this, I assumed this was a veiled threat, followed up by a vague comment after Chia said they would turn in the firearms they salvaged. The miners never did so, and he apparently kept said revolver to my knowledge. Submitted Evidence: Would you like to be personally interviewed? [X] - Yes [ ] - No Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: Yes, Auil'suos Insuso-Haq'tola'zlip, Captain Actions taken: Promised that action would be taken after the report. Unknown outcome, never elaborated. Additional Notes: Even if nothing comes up from this, the general decorum of the shaft miners has been steadily becoming more adversarial and hostile to the hangar technicians in recent memory should be noted. It isn't becoming a sustainable relationship in the department.

One In A Skrellion - Noble Row's Skrell Application
Stripes replied to Noble Row's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
This was more of a question regarding with how psionics are used in the Nralakk Federation, particulary with the nlom relays managing the general emotions and opinions of skrell under their influence. Otherwise, your responses are good, and we'll be accepting this application. -
One In A Skrellion - Noble Row's Skrell Application
Stripes replied to Noble Row's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi, Noble, thanks for applying! Your application reads well, but I would prefer if you answered them more directly and spoken straightly, as much as a light-hearted/humorous tone is fun. It's less out of distaste, and more for me to more easily glean an application's information. Kall-api is, for their age, extremely productive for someone who has only been out of their college bracket for seven years after earning both of their degrees. I would consider expanding their workaholic behavior more, or age them up to make it more reasonable - whichever would help in the direction of your character more! I'd be interested in seeing how their work ethic impacts their life, and if they've ended up becoming one of the reclusive researchers that rarely live outside of their careers. I'd also note that your character may want to be more cautious with combining srom-interfaces with anything like IPCs, as that sort of topic does hit very close to home with regards to psionically capable AI. Beyond that, if you could answer these questions: Is Kall-api an Axiori, Xiialt, or Xiori skrell? What are their thoughts on the recent historical events inside of the Nralakk Federation, beyond the phoron scarcity? What is Kall-api's relationship with their psionics like? How do they feel about the Nlom/Wake, and of the Srom itself?
