Positronic brains are pure fantasy invented by asmiov using words that sound cool. I like the idea of a somewhat scientifically grounded approach in that IPCs brains are Quantum Computers. You could still call the brain 'positronic' for giggles but have the actual lore be Quantum instead of 'platinum and volatile memory or some shit'.

As per the posts above I too agree with this suggestion. It's either that or have excess points over a certain amount pool into the stations budget but that'll come with the economy systems when/if it's done.

Getting lots of snark recently regarding this. We calling 'Plasma' Plasma or Phoron? The custom lore on the wiki is filled with the term Phoron but I'm getting BTFO with classics such as "that's a funny way of spelling Plasma" and "Don't know what that is, maybe mine Plasma instead?" Pls end my torment.

You'd think, but 1 hour= 1 day means the character ages by 24 years an IRL year which is perfect. 4 IG hours to 1 real hour means they'd only age up by 4 years in an IRL year which is actually very very slow when you think about it. A sec cadet would only be able to be an Officer Level One in a 1 hour-4 hour, while with 24 days an IRL day they could be a HoS with a kid who's doing a cadetship after a IRL year.

Remembered this today, I'm putting Andrew Grimes on trial for this (1 day=24 days IG) in regards to aging to see how it flows, even made some funky excel spread sheetsfor myself and everything. If any one wants to join me with this please feel free.

You hop in as a drone if you have 10 minutes of free time and you want to quickly contribute to the round, somehow. By repairing a few things, in this case. Drones are not supposed to be slaved to the AI, they are not even supposed to interact with anyone that's not another fellow drone. Unlike borgs, who are superior to drones in every (roleplaying) way. So, slaving drones to AI's would make them "just another synth role". And don't give me any of this "but people like playing as silent drones! free the drones!" stuff, if you want to roleplay with other people in this roleplaying game, pick a standard role. Whether it is a humanoid race, or an AI. Also, I do not see a reason why any drone-command-hierarchy is needed, drones can just talk to each other over the drone radio channel (they could in old-code, at least). I'm not even sure if there may be more than 2-3 active drones at a time in-round. Agree with all that bar the command drone thing though I'm not that committed. Just thought having a drone to direct the others mite b cool.

I'd much prefer a command drone which can direct the other drones effort. Yes drones are primitive but so is my computer in the grand scheme of robotics and AIs yet it cans till manage and command multiple machines as per it's programming. A drone which just has the capacity to command and coordinate other drones is fine and would make playing a drone much more immersive and I know that sounds crazy but muh drones! No slaving to the AI otherwise they just become another synth role.

Just a thing we'll have to deal with. That "Cloning Disorder' bit of fluff would take care of this nicely and allow the players to take it in their RP stride whilst the mods can bwoink the ones responsible. So chucklefuck Mgee can join, try to break into engineering, get arrested by sec and obviously banned by a mod and everyone IG can just get on with their lives. It also applies to characters with ridiculous back stories which could just be written off as delusions caused by the disorder IG whilst the mods bwoink them.

The first point: Unless you want the server population to tank over night there needs to be a stop gap in which new players can join as perhaps assistants/cadets/lab assistants/interns/etc to explore the server, get a feel and then apply properly. Otherwise you're trying to put people through a time consuming screening process for something they're not even sure they like. All other points are peachy to me though.

Sadly I'm still not fully clear on what is officially acceptable. We've kinda of moved in another obscure direction in the form of 'respect'. I'm not sure what that means. Sure I know what it means to me and I know the dictionary definition, bit what do we define that as here?/What would get me banned in OOC for example? I only ask in an attempt to once and for all hammer out a clear understanding of where the line is thst doesn't rely on the whim of the individual at the time. Perhaps a simple roleplay of a scenario would be good? It would make an excellent frame of reference for all and form a base for future rulings going forward so no one can get fanny flustered when the get ban-slapped because it would link to a solid foundation that isn't 'much feels'. It would assist the staff as much as the players...well we're all players but ya know.

So the ruling is this: If you're shooting the shit with friends on OOC and some on pipes up with the old 'Ugh can you just not, that offends me' they the offended party should just turn of OOC as we have no obligation to be a hug box. HOWEVER if you're having top bants with a player but then said player gets offended you should dial it down and apologise where appropriate. That right?
