Tytos_Tyris' IPC app
Blue replied to Vittorio Giurifiglio's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
What is this? Tytos not being the alien hating scum? Well, this is kinda not really alien...But yeah. Tytos is a good roleplayer who understands roleplaying on Aurora's standards, and if he adds the parts he's embarrassingly missing, I'll +1 him. -
Yep. +1 for obvious reasons.

It's better in the event of an emergency to not have to walk an extra 5 seconds that might compromise your patient. Infections? Hello.

Heh, this is probably the third time medbay's been remapped "just 'cause". But I still like it. My only complaint: There should be a doorway between cryo and the sleepers/body scanner room. That way if someone is in critical, you can dump them in the cryo, diagnose them properly, and if they're still unstable you can easily dunk them back in without having to go around. Just a little thing. Everything else looks great. Especially chemistry. Nice cozy little box, you get a little cubicle-esque desk with your chem dispenser, master, beakers, arranged in a way so that you can do everything without getting out of your chair. Also, I like having chemistry "reception" within medbay rather than out in the hallway, so the nurses can document things better.

[Resolved] Incident Report 3/04/2457 - Jade Rathel
Blue replied to GlamourChariot's topic in Closed reports
Hello everyone. During the most recent shift I had with Miss Rathel, I asked to speak with her in private for a moment. I referenced this complaint, and told her how silly it was, and how she should just curb her attitude for the sake of getting this ridiciulous demand out of the way. She has already promised to me that she will do the following. Visit a psychiatrist every shift for helping whatever mental or behavioral issues she bears which is causing her to act this way, whenever the service is available. Reduce the amount of "playground vulgarity" used over open communications. Be less rude to her coworkers. See how hard that was? All I had to do was ask her nicely. You'd be surprised how effectively personal issues could be resolved if you engaged in civil conversation with the individual in question. Rather than preaching of how this system has left someone with too many warnings (and according to Jade herself, she has only been officially punished/warned by the Duty Officer System once. Only once), actively solve your own problems, so other people don't have to. It's the professional, and mature way. I'm afraid to say that this "demotion to civilian for a while" idea will no longer be necessary. Immediately after our conversation, Jade had showed instant signs of improvement. She can keep her current position. Now, you'll want evidence of this, surely. If you wish, I can bring Miss Rathel to provide an oath, right here on this complaint form, that she will swear to uphold these promises she has made. Or, you can just, you know. Actually talk to her yourself. Thank you for your time, Miss Langford. It has been wonderful conversing with you, and I wish to see you on the Aurora sometime. -Hazeri, Shaman of Clan Saakhat ... Footnote attached: Furthermore, I believe that this report form is a prime example of the reality of Aurora's social issues. Nearly everybody here is trapped in a cage of steel, a bubble of glass, and told to operate to their finest abilities whilst under the greatest pressures for success, and risk of their lives. Yes. Their lives. We have a rather expensive genetics facility for a reason, and it's not too brag to our neighbors. It wouldn't be here if death was just an occasional occurrence. Back on topic, we are trapped in this iron grave of ours, with people who, for some reason, we can't even begin to attempt to relate or understand. Rather than be warm and open with our coworkers, we handpick the ones we tolerate, and discretely shun the rest, hoping they leave our presence. Rather than cooperate for no ill reason, we isolate ourselves, and do our own things. Rather than fixing issues that we have ourselves, we rely on someone higher to solve the most minor of our problems, without giving it the slightest bit of effort. We hide behind them the way a small child hides behinds his mother's leg. This is unacceptable. Miss Langford, please do not take what I am about to say personally, but your attitude towards your fellow crewmembers in this post have been more acidic than the chemical concoctions I create within my laboratory. I am utterly shocked that such hateful words cane come from the mouth (rather, the fingers, in this case) of a human being. If I may add an additional note to that, your demeanor has been more hostile and more aggressive than anything Jade has ever spoken or acted. If what you claim to be "unprofessional attitudes" in the workplace is such a serious matter that the only viable solution would be a termination of their contracts and duties, I believe I can find a space to clean right now. I still find it difficult to get over the fact that we can't even try to work together. The bitterness of living and working on such a facility has caused us to become desensitized to the notion of being alone in the void, and we act like rabid animals to each other. If you have even thought of the argument that this is a professional workplace, and that social interaction and fulfillment are not mandatory, please burn your tongue. NanoTrasen employs humans, Skrell, Tajara, Unathi, Diona, and IPC. Nowhere on the employment records will you find the hiring of any zombies, fiends, or husks. If we continue to behave in this manner, our workforce will stutter and falter without the warmth of companionship to protect it. Our prestige as a station will plummet. Those are "logical" disadvantages, but the greatest con of all is that we all lose our sense of being alive. Not that that matters anywhere inside a research station. It's not like we go home to our families or anything... At this point, is quite obvious that you have some kind of grudge against Jade. That's fine. Your problem, and her problem. You may even have one against me, now. That's fine. Your problem, but not my problem. I won't let it affect me in anyway whatsoever, and I advise you to do the same. Furthermore, unless I am specifically called for a good reason, I will not be posting any more comments on this report. I will not be subjected to any more of this harsh, "salty", immature talks. If you wish to address something to me personally, go ahead. My workplace email is listed on my profile. Talk to me about it, if you can manage to resolve your issues by yourself. Lastly, I would like to apologize for any amount of rudeness that I have personally displayed. Absolutely nothing I have written so far has been intended to spite or provoke anyone, and I am sorry if I have done so. But I had to speak my mind about this frivolous complaint. Take care, Shaman. -
What Sue said. I don't see why it really needs to be revamped.

[Resolved] Incident Report 3/04/2457 - Jade Rathel
Blue replied to GlamourChariot's topic in Closed reports
Dear Miss Langford Thank you for acknowledging my words. Jade is by no means, a psychopath. Nor is she mentally unstable. To call her, or her actions "violent" would be to completely exaggerate everything. At the very most, she is bitter to the crew. The very worst she does it make snide comments over the radio and in person. We have *actual* insane people, and *actual* violent people who get by just fine, with an occasional punishment and some therapy. Why do we hire them? Because they still have skills. Jade possesses a skill set that is beyond what you expect of a normal officer. Yes, she may be rude. But that's all it is. Rudeness. I have seen her in action, and I know that she handles stressful situations excellently, has a deeper understanding of the corporate regulations and procedures than her typical coworker, and is all around a wonderful officer. Saying that she is not fit for duty merely because of her language (Which ultimately comes down to excessive use of terms like "Loser", "Dweeb", "Moron", and such. A professional employee shouldn't be bothered too much by such 'playground terminology'). To terminate her work would be to be extremely wasteful of what she has to offer. And this corporation does not like being wasteful, does it? A much better approach would be to place more effort into fixing what is wrong. Temporary demotions have not worked. The first time it didn't work. The second time it didn't work. However many other times it didn't work. Cutting her from the manifest would not be an appropriate response. An analogy I could use, would be a doctor finding an injured patient, and inject Dyelovene into them. After seeing it has no effect, the doctor injects some more, and more and more. The patient does not recover, so the doctor sticks them in the morgue. That patient could have been fixed with Bicaridine. What I'm trying to say is, trying to fix an issue the same way each time will yield no better results than the first attempt. Now is a pristine chance to try something new. Once again, thank you for your acknowledgement. I hope to see my suggestion fulfilled, as it would benefit all parties the most. Do have patience with her. Hard to believe, but I'm fairly certain that if you worked on the Aurora, you'd deal with someone worse than Jade every day, and they keep at it. With great diligence, comes great accomplishments. -Hazeri, Shaman of Clan Saakaht -
[Resolved] Incident Report 3/04/2457 - Jade Rathel
Blue replied to GlamourChariot's topic in Closed reports
Greetings, everyone. This is Hazeri Saakhat. I'm sure many of you have heard of me. Allow me to weigh my opinion on the matter. Jade is a rather bitter person. On the outside, at least. We have many trusted employees who are bitter on the inside, but it's the outside that matters, right? I can understand how many of you might consider her to be...Jaded...but I am fairly certain that she is acting in this way as some sort of mechanism. Childhood trauma? Attention? Who knows. I am not a psychologist, but believe me when I say that Jade can most certainly be counseled and have her behavior rectified. A couple shifts ago, during our break, I had opened up a little of myself to her, and she expressed very positive reactions. When I asked her to do the same, she because defensive, reverted back to her usual self, and bolted away. My suggestion: Give her mandatory therapy sessions. Aimed at finding the root of her behavior, and a way to rectify it. Surely, disciplinary actions and temporary demotions have not been effective in the slightest. So, perhaps it's time to give something else a try. Yours truly -Hazeri, Shaman of Clan Saakhat -
I'm against the first point because it's simple to just dispose of surplus meds in the chemmaster, I'm on the fence with the second one because while it makes chemistry very convenient, it removes cross departmentalism of going to cargo and saying "Hey can you make me 10 pill bottles and never speak to me aga- You know what, let's have that. The third option I like because it will definitely cut down on irresponsible chemists while competent chemists will just need a permission slip and they can still get what they want.

Maybe every infection deals up to like, 30-50 toxin damage, and hurts an organ? Doesn't kill you unless you have more damage already. And deals a lot of pain damage, too.
-
Infections were put in place to encourage players to not "shrug it off" and get to medical. But the way it's set up is ridiculously OP. If I shank you and leave you in a room, I expect you to die of bleeding out, not of some bug...

I'm with Sam on this. Why does everyone want the exact same jacket, just with a different nameplate? Can't you vary it a little?
-
Oh yeah, if that feature with the long hair gets stuck in the machinery is still around, Fortune is going to have to cut her hair, or take regular trips to medical. Anyways, I think Fortune has improved, haven't had any outstanding complaints against her, and she's less "childish". I think I can back up my +1 with more confidence now.

Napoleon IV's / George VI's head white-list application.
Blue replied to George VI's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'm gonna be the first (and possibly only) one to +1 this. Yes, we've given you a plethora of chances Yes, you've made us all very sad. Yes, you've claimed to improve. Yes, you've proven to us that you haven't. But time has passed and I believe that you deserve another chance at heads. Now, we're both well aware that if you fail at heads again, I think a simple whitelist strip wouldn't be enough. You need to prove to us that you truly, deeply believe that you've changed for the better, and that you are not afraid to wager something extra in to prove that. -
I suspect most officers will just carry 3-4 mags. This will make resupplies much less frequent, not more. You can't know that, we have no idea how many mags will be available. Officers might just be given one so if they want more they'll need to tell their HoS/ warden and explain what happened to all those rounds.m With a taser you can't recharge in the middle of a conflict. Once your 5 shots are done, you're done. The reverse of what you said is true. Officers will not need to pick their shots more carefully. They can just reload.

Science should be able to make syringes and/or droppers that don't allow reactions to take place in them, much like the cryo beaker. This would compliment them well. On the note of syringes, have a jumbo syringe that can hold 30 units of a substance, but doesn't spawn on the station and needs silver to be made.
-
Alright, I have concerns about Fortune. Now, I haven't interacted with her in quite some time, so pardon me if she's developed beyond what I'm going to say. But, last time I checked, Fortune was a loose canon, moderately immature, and always using mechs for the wrong reasons (i.e., gankging hostage takers) How has Fortune improved since then? How can I be assured she is a competent head of staff?

Hazeri held his hood tightly over his face as the antagonizing winds blew more and more sand in his direction. His mount let out a dry squeal, indicating to him that it was about to give in. Come now, don't climb so high only to pummel downwards from the summit... He whispered to his steed. The four-legged animal marched forward, with as much of a sense of perseverance as exhaustion. Hazeri removed his shades. In the distance, he could faintly make out edges and ridges, blending in well with the sands that blew so fiercely. With a little kick to spur it on, Hazeri guided the scale-cattle just a little further until the settlement was in clear view. He tugs at the reins, indicating for the animal to stop. It does as he commands, promptly before dropping down and slanting to its side. The old Unathi pays no mind, grabbing his cane and putting his sunglasses back on. Stay put, now. Don't get robbed. He orders the sleeping beast. The winds whispered anger in the tongue of dust and sands. Trudging slowly, each step guided by his cane, Hazeri kept his head down and a firm grip on his robes. He approached a large tree in the center, and sat down, planting his cane deep in the sands. Keeping this meditative position, Hazeri resisted the words of the storm to submit. Eventually, it had diminished, and the village had come to life again. Unathi of all shapes and sizes crawled out of their adobe huts to gather around the strange visitor. The largest, most brutish one had the audacity to stand right in front of the old man, glaring down at him. And who, pray tell, are you? He demanded. Hazeri tilted his head upwards and smiled. An old friend. The Unathi blinked as Hazeri stood up to his feet, using the trunk of the tree as support. He pulls his cane from the sands and taps the man on the shoulders. Do you remember your Shaman? The Unathi paused, staring at his feet. Of course...I remember the day... Suddenly, their eyes lock, and they both wear a smile. Shaman...you're still alive? Hazeri frowns. I thought you remembered when I surpassed the need of mortality? They both shared a brief laugh, before beckoning Hazeri to follow him. Come. Storms are brewing. He explained. The only brewing now shall be tea. Flames from the stove trickled and danced upon the walls of the hut, as if they were compelled to recall the story of some great battle or an extremely grand celebration, but lacked the capacity to speak it out for themselves. Hazeri inhaled the steam from his bubbling mug, sighing in bliss as he takes his first sip of the stuff. Perfect...just perfect. He raises his mug at the brewing lady, who smiles in thanks. The chieftain keeps his gaze on Hazeri. Shaman...if I may ask, what brought you back? Hazeri holds up a claw as he savors the rest of his tea. I missed the tea. Also, I am on a quest of sorts. The chief tilts his head. What do you need? We have a few soldiers right now but- Suddenly, a dark scaled Unathi came running into the room. Is...Is he here? He pants, hands on his knees. D-did I miss him? Is that him? Oh Her, it's him! The Unathi makes a quick, sloppy bow before dropping on his knees. It's...it's an honor to actually meet you, Sh-shaman. Standing to his feet, the chieftain glares at the kneeling young man. Outsider, you do not dishonor the establishment by barging in whenever you- Hazeri laughs, calling the chieftain off. Relax, relax. The chieftain nods, taking his seat again. Hazeri leans on his cane and returns the bow. Greetings, young one. What is your name? The Unathi looks up, a sense of confusion clear in his eyes. Uh...I am...Ezulth, the Outsider... Hazeri squints his eyes curiously. Ezulth? Which clan are you? Ezulth grits his teeth before answering. None...I...never really knew...anyone...and urm...they took me in as their own...but urm...I was always inspired by your works! Hazeri turns his head to the chieftain and smirks, he makes no reply back. Is that so? He asks. Oh, yes! Yes, Shaman! He nods quickly. I've tried to study the magic...just like you... Reaching into his pockets, Ezulth pulls out a vial with dark red liquid in it. With a sense of eagerness, he rips the cork out and shakes the bottle. Bubbles form as the solution fizzes and shoots up and stains the ceiling. Hazeri watches it with curiosity. That...is about all I can do, really. With what we have here, at least. Hazeri nods. Ezuleth? Do you have any familiarity with NanoTrasen? The young Unathi nods softly. Yes...they took me into their academy...gave me a degree in chemistry and biology...I don't know what I can- Hazeri interrupts. Would you like to come with me, and be my apprentice? Tears almost fell out of his eyes. You're...you're kidding? Hazeri shakes his head firmly. Not at all. I need someone to carry my legacy. Ezulth grows a widened smile, and Hazeri follows suite. Y-yes please! Shaman, please! I'll d-do anything...I'll clean your quarters, I'll study every day and night...I'll...I'll... Hazeri pulls his hood out as he walks towards the exit, beckoning Ezulth to follow him. Ezulth. Don't worry about it. And call me Haz, please.

[Accepted] Jamini Unathi Application
Blue replied to Jamini's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Yes. The stereotypical "HONOR HONOR WAR BLOOD CLAN BLOOD FIGHT HONOR HONOR NO WEAPONS" breed of Unathi. I highly doubt Jamini would stoop that low. How he has his character setup, what his character determines to be honorable and what isn't, etc., is up to him to decide. Less as a character, and more as a player. If he uses his sense of honor as an excuse for unnecessary violence, surely he'll have to curb his attitude or be fired. If he doesn't, then hey, no problemo. Examples of characters with species superiority complexes and violent backgrounds that don't exactly start violence all the time: Dicklizard, Vittorio, Sarge, just about any robot. -
Nikolai The Beast - Forced Round End, Faked Sing Release
Blue replied to a topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Four armed men arrive on the asteroid. They quickly take over, enslaving the miners. They establish their own nation. NT approves this nation. Tensions build up between the crew and Asteroidia. Bombs start going off. You call the shuttle, send the whole crew off, and leave the entirety of the station at the hands of another nation. Yeah, that's not a good choice, now is it? Rai can't be that blunt, can she? Either way, there were multiple ways to get Asteroidia down. In fact, my character, Beeps the Spiderbot, was actively trying to get an organized "coup" to tear down the "government" from within. He launched an espionage campaign, earned their trust, gathered intelligence, and reported it to his friends. He came up with a brilliant plan to abolish slavery and cripple Asteroidia from the inside, but the scientists didn't care about people. So he was going to go to Asteroidia and try to get them to get into a conflict with Aurora, which would yield the same effect. But the moment I arrived in Asteroidia, the shuttle is called. See? You could have done something else. I refuse to believe that security could not have found a way to infilitrate and sabatoge the outpost. I mean, all you really had to do was find a way to take out their atmos, engine, medbay, or processors and they'd basically have to halt whatever expansion they were planning and then they'd have to negotiate with Aurora. More RP. It doesn't matter if Rai sees the shuttle as the best option at the moment. It might have been. There are multiple incidents where the shuttle would be the best option. But unless it's the last option other than "Slow, painful death" you should never use it. Destroying everyone else's RP because your character wanted to be safe is not an excuse. You're ending the round for EVERYBODY, not just Rai. -
[Accepted] Jamini Unathi Application
Blue replied to Jamini's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Just gonna point out. If Jamini were to (Not saying he would, I believe him to be a fantastical RPer) make a chucklefuck character, they could use a species they already have access to, Tajara or even human. There's nothing wrong with being a "conflict starter", in fact, we might need a couple more of those who are well Rp'd. You can't possibly judge a character before he's even been created. Plus, tons of humans, most Unathi & Tajara, and just about ALL IPC's I've encountered have had some kind of species superiority complex. It's nothing new, nothing harmful. +1, Jamini is a great RPer, has demonstrated Rping species well, and shows understanding of how Unathi are to act. -
Doing the same thing over and over again, with just different dialogue and a slightly different procedure gets boring. I like this thread because it invites people to do, well, actual science. Hazeri would drag a protohuman along to the outpost and test all these wonderful/fatal/helpful/harmful chemical concoctions, and actually discovered a few things with the tools in science that could benefit the station. Things that science doesn't typically do. Think outside of the box. Holds a bit of meaning, don't you think?
