  1. Byond key: Dreviore Character names: Aurelia, Daniel Seraph, Nicholas Crixus What times are you available? In GMT: My schedule tends to vary, but I tend to be available from (Based upon the forum time) 5pm to 9:30pm, then I hop back on after my shift at work at 5:30 am to around 9:30 am on weekdays, weekends it mostly depends on my work hours, but I tend to not work Sundays at all. Do you have any experience with Moderating? Or similar. I was an events coordinator on a roleplay MineCraft server known as Iriliath for a couple months leading to an internal disagreement between staff. I also assisted moderating a very volatile community dedicated to private servers for popular flash games. I also for a very brief amount of time facilitated DND type games through MineCraft utilizing maps I'd spend weeks making, to host for a couple months for my team of around 15 people. Why do you want to be a Duty Officer? I feel it would be a learning experience for me, and that I might be given an opportunity to give back to the community as best that I can. That and I've been roleplaying for quite some years now, and have never really been present with an opportunity to assist a community that I'm very passionate about. How well can you handle stress? Up until recently I went to school full time (8 hours), and managed a full time job as assistant manager in a very fast pace business, I've recently found myself finished school for the most part, and have a lot of open time for the foreseeable future. What does it mean to be a Duty Officer? Duty Officers job is to ensure that players who are being disruptive, but not breaking rules are still being tended to and given opportunities to redeem themselves so that they may keep playing, and enjoying their roleplay experience. Often times that means putting other players before yourself. Duty Officers are also expected to respond to messages from the crew, coordinating with the staff (IC, and with the server staff) should you be requested to intervene on the station. While also manning the Incident Reports on the forums by interviewing parties involved. *Underlying rule is that a Duty Officer is a bureaucrat, and not a super soldier sent to the station to remove all threats. (Cue Bob the paper pusher) How active on the forums and server are you? I tend to browse the forums periodically throughout the day, even during my shift at work. I also tend to be online during the quieter hours of the day, just due to my schedule, but I'm available on the forums, Skype, and discord, literally from the time I wake up, to the time I go to bed. Anything else to add? The main reason I joined the server is due to the internal conflict within BayStation, I wanted to jump to Polaris, but by the time I was actually presented with it, the community on Aurora had already grabbed my attention, and has kept me thus far. Also if I happen to receive a notification about something going down I tend to wake up in the middle of the night.
  2. So in what way is this new character similar to Seon? I think an explanation of this characters appearance is necessary. Please no Tajaran human breed... It's a very snowflakey thing and you may as well make a Tajaran at that point.
  3. Well for one we can stop all the random new people from becoming antagonist until they've been registered or been playing for a week or two, and I was referring to the current players logged in on that server that is usually about 35 people and up (From my experience). And two we can have the special prioritized sutff that ups your rate of becoming antag (sooner) but still a man rolling antag thrice or more is kind of preventing others from enjoying the antag fun. You also want to take into thought that not everyone wants to be an antag and usually has their settings set to off. If you want you can set that players who antagged chance to antag again decreases with every play they get until the system is once again reset (Decreases 30% each antag you get leaving you at 10% for the last decrease but also add the "Special stuffs" like opposition to NT as a percentage bonus to your antag roll potential). Alright so there's already a wait timer on a majority of antag positions. And I think you underestimate how many people want to be antags. And the percentage system would overall hinder people that's what Skulls post was mentioning. That the sheer amount of people joining, would mean there would be a long while between people becoming antagonists. Turn your characters relations with NanoTrasen down and you'll likely get picked more often.
  4. That's why. Those three don't tend to occur very often.
  5. Alright so I got to play as a malf ai last night. Normally I'd be all for more methods of killing crew. But honestly after being given a quick rundown of how to utilize atmospherics I've decided this idea is actually not very good. The only modified action is like to see is the core, or the doors to the AI core moved to prevent emitter meta. Especially considering the time it takes to research the upgrade to blow up an emitter. In my round I was popped into an existing malfunctioning AI and acted as if the unit before me was broken and I was fine. Eventually an illness struck the station so I prepared my onslaught by siphoning virology, then all of medical, while also locking the crew in, and all exits. Shit got real once Skull explained how I can add a small amount of plasma to sections of the station so after I thwarted an emitter attack, two crew members attempted to re-enable it, and I sparked the area burning those two to a crisp. If you want an effective method disable sensors on the alarms, and pump small amounts of toxins into the area. Ramp up the temperature in atmospherics and if someone trespasses somewhere you don't want them, light em up like the vermin they are.
  6. So I'm guessing a loyal nanotrasen employee with very RARELY get an antag position as it would prioritize everyone else first.
  7. Honestly the system is fine as is. You have to keep in mind there are tons of people wanting to be antagonists. For example, I had a day where I was an antag three times in a row. Then I went a couple days without becoming one. Then I got picked to be an antag after that. It balances itself out, and if you're only on during 'primetime' of course you're going to have a hard time getting picked for an antag role. There's a ton of other people who've gone longer then you without.
  8. BYOND key: Dreviore Character names: Dr. Daniel Seraph, Aurelia How long have you been playing on Aurora?: A little over a month Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I notice during my times playing that a lot of head positions are left unfufilled. So I decided I would attempt to change that. And I feel it would be a learning experience for me. Why did you come to Aurora?: Well Baystation died. And I had a hard time getting involved in Polaris, so I was on reddit one day and someone recommended Aurora to me. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: I have. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Role play is about extending the reach of your mind by playing people, and roles that are completely different then your everyday boring/exciting life. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: OOC your job is to help ensure new faces know the basics of their departments, and to ensure your department runs as smoothly as possible. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Set an example to newer players of how Role play can be, and to ensure people under your care learn from their mistakes! Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Nicholas Crixus Character age: 48 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Nicholas Crixus was born in Mendell City, July 27th 2409, to a fairly typical family. His father Jacob Crixus was employed as a freelance writer for a small news station while his mother Janet Crixus worked for NanoTrasen as a human resources repersentative. For Nicholas life was fairly care free for him as his parents provided him with plenty of opportunities for him, Nicholas was absolutely amazed by books. Reading about history, and reading about the various races known to humanity. Nicholas attended school, and managed to get by with ease, and at the young age of sixteen with help of his fathers connections was granted a part time job as an intern for the law firm Hessington Wright, this job is what originally got Nicholas' foot in the door for practicing law, because two years after he got his job, the firm offered to pay for his entry into school. At this time Nicholas never spent much time at home, and often found himself spending long days at the firm mostly tending to one of the women that worked there alongside him name Chelanna, and inbetween school would spend most of his downtime with her. At the age of twenty-three Nicholas had obtained a Bachelor's degree in law, and had begun articling under Zachary Hessington, and within eleven months Nicholas had completed his admissions exams, and had been given the okay to practice law. Immediately following Nicholas returned to school for the next three years in order to obtain his Masters in Law. Ten years had passed since Nicholas had begun practicing law, him and Chelanna were still together, and he had built a fairly sized clientele, when he found out his father had passed away from age, leading to Nicholas deciding to take time off work. Unfortunately for him during his downtime the law firm he worked for had been forced to shut there doors, thus ending Nicholas' employment. Nicholas began picking up cases built upon his own clientele list working under his own firm alongside an old colleague named Janet Pearl naming the firm Crixus Pearl, he would spend the next ten years being self employed, and eventually marrying Chelanna. Until one day he came to his office, only to find an investor had forcefully taken him out of the equation. Nicholas now aged fourty finds himself having been forced out of his own firm, paying for his mothers apartment in Mendell City, seeks employement from the one giant that seems to be hiring everybody, NanoTrasen. What do you like about this character?: This character fufills a very unique role for me. The type that's supposed to remain unbiased, not to mention Nicholas is strong with words, not physically fit in the least bit, and this character speaks to a close friend I lost a couple months ago. What do you dislike about this character?: The fact that I haven't gotten to play as him much. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: My character has a decently long background as a lawyer, and I feel would make a great IAA. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd probably rate myself a 6 maybe a 5 depending on what's going on. Extra notes: My rating is based upon how I personally handle Role play with a large group of people. Say there's 6 people standing in the bar chit chatting. I tend to shy away from those encounters. And prefer to stick to smaller groups of 2 to 3.
  9. But the laws are in place because you have to follow them. If a law specifically states you can't harm crew, until they're dismissed from the crew for the shift, you cannot physically harm them. Under the current law set if the situation presented itself you could harm them if it was necessary to save other crew.
  10. I just assume fax machines are because crew hates me, and doesn't want their big brother Aurelia to see what shit they're trying to pull.
  11. If you tell an AI to never harm crew.... Let me lay a scenario down. John Smith is a member of the crew. As is Johanna Smiles, and you know what, so is Jacob Bunny. John Smith decides to hold Jacob Bunny at knife point. While Johanna Smiles attempts to calm down John Smith. Now John Smith is in a small room, and the hostage situation seems like it's going to end badly. Now under your lawset the AI couldn't get involved by say depressing the room, because that would harm crew.
  12. Reporting Personnel: Daniel Seraph Rank of Reporting Personnel: Xenobiologists Personnel Involved: Koki Pailitas, Arnet Serket, Cyborg S.A.D., Security officer Shane Halevy Time of Incident: Real time: 11:20 AM (04/03/2016) Location of Incident: NSS. Aurora, Xenobiology lab Nature of Incident: [X]Workplace Hazard [X]Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [X]Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault []Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: The shift started with me in xenobiology with cyborg unit S.A.D., very shortly after the shift began two xenobiologists arrive on the station, Dr. Pailitas, and Dr. Serket. I promptly just commented that xenobiology is difficult with three of us (as having multiple people can potentially confuse alien creatures), they promptly ignored me, and came anyways. Not in the standard equipment (bio suits). Moments after they came in I witnessed one Dr. Pailitas overfeeding one of the containment cells, leading to them getting knocked down, and promptly getting pulled out by Dr. Serket. This issue occured once again in the same fashion, only the second time resulted in the two xenobiologists pulling three slimes out of the cell with them. What occured next is that I got attacked by one of the slimes they let out, who was already in a stage where it was ready to pop into multiple slimes. Cyborg unit S.A.D. attempted to fix the situation by getting one of the slimes off of me, and into xenobotany so that I could get to medical leaving the cyborg unit trapped behind a window. Officer Shane Halevy dragged me to medical, and proceeded to head back to assist with a pending slime outbreak. While I was awaiting the cryo tubes to get cooled down I heard the two xenobiologists have let them out all over the science division, which is a whole other can of worms I cannot comment on. But shortly after I saw officer Shane Halevy, and Kanza Al'Falak await the cryo tubes as well due to a slime attack. Eventually the entire station was evacuated due to a slime apolocypse. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: None on duty during shift. Additional notes: I mean it takes a lot to get me to fill out an incident report, but lately I've seen a lot of untrained xenobiologists causing harm to crew.
  13. AA batteries or what? Bluespace batteries AA bluespace batteries?
  14. Hey bud. I've RPed with you a little, and I haven't had anything annoying from you or the two characters of yours I've interacted with. Now onto the actual app. Writing a back story for a mindless being is to impossible which is probably why we don't see many Bound Vaurca on the station. Take my Maintenance Drone Ted... Yeah. If you want something constructive to add to it. Mention what it's primary focus USED to be. In the hive. Was it a mindless drone? Perhaps it was a mindless warrior. I'll give you my +1 for attempting and succeeding at it even though it was likely frustrating.

As someone who loves playing as the AI. Remove cameras from maintenance. Sure it's nice to be able to spot literally everything, but at times it just seems unnecessary. Second, it's nice having the AI core in the center of the station. It's in both a defenseless and defendable location. If there's a heist going it prevents the operatives from blowing into the upload and immediately defeating the AI, but it also gives the AI a chance to perhaps prevent the operatives from modifying it. At the same time I kinda hope the AIs core isn't in such a high traffic hallway. Perhaps putting the entrance in the command sector of the station, cause logically no one other then the heads should be going in there.
  16. What can I say about the Tajaran. Well they're the soul breakers of Aurorastation... Except they eat mice. Honestly I don't really care for them personally, but I've seen a lot of players on Aurora who actually do the race justice. Other then fur they seem like humans though. Which I don't really care for. They need more unique features.
  17. Well Skull. Get on that. After adding GPSes to Telescience.
  18. Name: Dr. Daniel Seraph Age: 38 Gender: Male Race: Human Employment Information : Xenobiologist, Geneticist Is there anything that you are legally obligated to reveal, or anything that you wish to notify the crew about: Negative. Signature: Dr. Seraph
  19. As noted above, monitor heads are still available with this added. That will no longer be possible, for better or worse you cannot exactly mimic the appearance of any race with this change, although you can look somewhat similar to any of them assuming you have said species whitelisted to you. Cats with android bodies will retain cat ears and tails, and so on with lizards, humans can have faux hair and beards, etcetera. Well that makes the entire idea a lot less interesting.
  20. I'd love the idea of replacing them with androids. But why can't we mix the monitor heads with androids? I also loved the kinda synthetic hate that resulted in tagging. And restricting jobs for them. I like the android idea assuming they can be virtually indistinguishable from humans. Leading to a little more confusion for synthetic haters. Think Fallout where the syths are so well made they're virtually indistinguishable from humans. But there's a lot of hate.
