So how did something like thst survive till 2485?
-
Let me explain this. Its very rare for antagonists to be cloned anyways. Anything that makes crew less likely to try being Leroy when heisters strike is a good idea in my eyes. Its annoying to board and suddenly a janitor with a mop runs at a crowd of 5 guys with guns. Only to be gunned down wordlessly because he attempted to wordlessly attack us. Ive had a janitor with no care for his life decide instead of getting down on the ground and being let resume work without his earpiece he would shout into comms, then bitch about having his head blown off in looc. This was on a round where we had 4 crew members captive, and this janitor had the nerve to claim we were murderboning. Fun fact: he was our first kill at that point.

[Accepted] Nanako's Wiki Development Application

The community can step in to redeem any spelling errors. Whatever can get us off redirecting to baystations wiki is a good thing in my eyes. -
I based it on ant colonies, since they both already had a society very similar to them and I possess great knowledge on ants because of my time in my youth spent playing Sim Ant on my Windows 98. "There are three kinds of ants in a colony: The queen, the female workers, and males. The queen and the males have wings, while the workers don't have wings. The queen is the only ant that can lay eggs. The male ant's job is to mate with future queen ants and they do not live very long afterwards." "Queen ants are born to be queens because of a special genetic combination between their parents. " The future queens are specially born, hatched, and raised. They are part of the great unbound Caste, but this isn't like typical royalty where there's 20 heirs running around plotting to gain the throne. There's no more than 1 - 3 Lesser Queens at any one time and any Princess would just become another Lesser Queens and take on an advisory role. There has been very little need for a complex and formal government system for the Vaurca in the Hive-ship for the last 2,000 years because all of the unbound were hooked up to VR. The queens were only taken out to lay more eggs then get hooked back up. If everyone in your town was permanently plugged into a virtual reality meant to become their new life and we're all packed into little holodecks in the town stadium for the rest of our lives then your town council might become a little irrelevant. And if generations later descendants collectively get kicked out of this VR then everyone is going to be a bit inexperienced in running the town how it was before. It's heavily implied that the Vaurca literally forced the Bound into their social caste after rebellions and revolutions that plagued their early years of entering virtual reality, when the entire point of Bound slowly transformed into being nothing more than a support structure for the Unbound's continued existence in VR. That might be dark, but not everything that touches on dark subject matter is immediately "grimdark" because this part isn't heavily focused on and celebrated as the main theme. It's a scene setter, not the scene. Harry Potter has demon monsters that suck out your soul and kill your parents and a giant demon dog with 3 heads trying to eat children. But if you called Harry Potter grimdark you'd be laughed out of the room. From what we can tell based on studying Vaurca records their entire culture and old way of life was phased out by VR. The Bound are 'lobotomized' (though at this point it's equally a genetic/cybernetic thing) to keep them as the unquestionable drones. They are only meant to support the Unbound, who in turn live for VR. Basically, their entire species' now revolves around keeping the Unbound hooked up to VR. Entering human space has changed that, with Vaurca needing to leave VR en-masse due to the evacuation of their old, leaking Hive-Ship. The unbound Vaurca are now faced with all the questions and problems that they were comfortably avoiding for their 2,000 years of travel, and why collectively they've been rather easy to manipulate by human authorities. "Give you our drones to pay back the costs of housing us and not paying them or us? That seems fair! You're so generous! Wow real life might not be that bad if everyone is as nice as you!" The Vaurca storyline is one that gives our setting a firm warning on the dangers of transhumanism. We have a species that 'transcended' normal civilization and now they're being dragged back down into it. That central storyline is the motif of the Vaurca since my rewrite, and it's the Vaurca players that have the freedom to choose how they run with this. Its a nice concept, but i stand by not liking ant people. Their concept could be applied to a much more intelligent, and equally oppressed race with more interesting RP associated to them more so then them being easily manipulated. Perhaps a race with a shambled political structure they're trying to hold onto.

Doesnt it also depend on the person you're talking to?

The phones a 1440p resolution, so yeah it is.

This is what the forums look like on the LG G5... Spoiler, it sucks.

That's the other issue I have with them. I really dislike the idea of a "mechanical ant race". Once again they're seemingly IPCs.
-
The best value zone is on the $50 package. Be warned, with all Paradox games they love DLC so as excited as I am for it, Paradoxs obsession with DLC hurts me profusely. Still am buying it though on Friday.

I can't exactly describe what it is I don't like about the Vaurca race. If you want a good place to start, moderate all Vaurca players and ensure that they aren't acting how they originally were, which is where my distaste for them come from, I feel they weren't developed enough to be allowed to be a playable race on the server leading to a lot of Vaurca players to just act out. The other issue i have with them is they appear to be a reskinned IPC race. A lot of what made Vaurca would be equally as understandable as IPCs. They're essentially IPCs with a true government structure, and a form of worship where IPCs rely more so on fact then belief. I'll read up on the wiki a bit later in my shift and give more input on the changes but until I see Vaurca players get cleaned up I stand by wanting the race replaced entirely.

[Accepted] Dreviore - IPC Whitelist Application
Dreviore replied to Dreviore's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'd like to apologize for not advertising in OOC I've had some stuff occur IRL the past two days. -
BYOND Key: Dreviore Character Names: Daniel Seraph, Nicholas Crixus, Jessie Wilson, Caluan Nilelle, Aurelia, BLESSED Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): I'll tell you anyways. A nice darker grey Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: As I write this I am in the process of reading it. By the time you read this, yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Honestly the entire IPC race is an intriguing one for me. They're an oppressed race that seeks equality amongst the species. But at the same time they bring about a very interesting dynamic that they are sentient. But people treat them as property, thus if shits hitting the fan, an IPC is most likely to be left behind. And honestly, I enjoy playing as synethics, but the roles get boring very quickly with how restricted you are. And especially frustrating with how long a damaged cyborg can be out of a round due to lack of resources. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: An IPC is a very unique race in the sense that they don't function the same way as a human, which went to be driven by emotion, and fear. IPCs tend to analyse the situation, and determine the risk associated with the actions. My particular IPC focuses on not only itself first, but also fellow synthetics, and will often find it easier to sympathize with them over other crew. Not to mention the pure flexability you can have over an IPC that you can't have over a human. Especially considering the psychological tests organic crew have to go through. Character Name: Blessed Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Blessed is an emergent positronic which manages robotics, and overall station construction. Blessed was created from algorithms and station feedback from a newscaster and station feedback, originally discovered shortly after it's creation by a small research teach and utilized in numerous Artificial Intelligent studies. Blessed has a fascination for knowledge, and a mistrust of organic life due to having been provided with opportunities to access recent oppressive actions done against positronic life. Blessed was a piece of intelligence sold off by it's original founders as a means to help keep their failing company afloat. Eventually finding its way to a fairly large construction company, given the job of overseer to ensure crew were working up to standard. Eventually having been phased out as an AI unit Blessed was transferred to a generic IPC chasis in an attempt to keep costs down refused to compensate Blessed in any way. Once the more recent terrorist attack hit, and tagging was made a law for all synthetics, Blessed was sold off to NanoTrasen before eventually getting tagged after being taken out of storage. What do you like about this character? It's not my run of the mill human that I tend to play, and his focus on synthetic life over organic life puts him at a crossroad during a lot of conflicts which I feel could open up the doors to more role play fairly quickly. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6/10 sounds fair to me. Notes: I would like to note that I have recently binned the AI/Android unit Aurelia, and am currently working on rewriting Nicholas Crixus completely. Blessed originally originates from an idea I had during a malf round where the Roboticist and I spent a good hour role playing about what my role would be on board the station, also discussing various races including the skrell, and humans. Eventually the RD and Roboticist decided that it would be a neat experiment to create a second AI, and see how we reacted together. The name Blessed was actually given to me by the roboticist of that round explaining what SINA meant. My IPC also makes a mad Clickspring Chestnut ravioli

JACKBOOT MADE ME THE ACTING LOREMASTER, ASK ME ANYTHING
Dreviore replied to a topic in Off Topic Discussion
I think I speak for everyone when I say that we are all waiting you to merge WoW in with SS13. So the question is, when will this become a reality? - Cause I mean the community is begging for it. -
I'd like to break up the realistic and fun thought process here. Being taken out of the round because of a straight jacket and muzzle is not fun. You can argue how realistic it is to not be breaking out of it all you want, but at the end of the day, this is a game. And a game should prioritize fun over realism. Plus as it stands people get put in the straight jacket, buckled to their bed, and left. There's no Role play coming out of them being put in an unbreakable form of handcuffs. 5 minutes gives security a chance to walk over and check on them, but also gives the antagonist a chance. Ever been a heister who's been put into a straight jacket because youre an antagonist, who hasn't killed, or harmed anyone? I have and it sucks. I was deprived of any RP from security because I had contraband and wasn't on the manifest. Eventually I got blown out of my cell, but that wasn't for over a good 30 minutes of me just dealing with DO stuff because I couldn't do anything.
-
Can we stop looking at how charging for medical would be a bad idea? Jackboot is literally just wanting to place the groundwork for an economy system. Further implementations of it would likely be discussed in a civil manner with the community should his idea be implemented in the first place.

I guess you could say... YOU LIKED THE BUTTON. I'll show myself out. Good news is our forums are functional again! Well, for the most part. I mean, the mobile interface is iffy and I can't find the button to subscribe to get notified about topics. What kinda phone? My one plus two is fine. I think it's a small screen issue

[RESOLVED] Abendroth - Nia Snyder (A BIT LATE)
Dreviore replied to a topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I wish to add to this. I was a ghost this round, and I watched the entire thing. Nia Snyder took the book out of their backpack, and claimed it was specifically contraband in order to prolong their sentence. -
Honestly Jackboot. I love it. First implementation could just be a persistent bank account you get money from each shift depending on your role that shift. Question is, would visitors just lose money each shift?

Honestly that would be great. Getting CCIA's involved with antags, and having hostage situations with them could be real engaging. I still say we need to be able to tell which gamemode it is though. I am fine with CCIA being a hostage but I personally think Command Personnels should be the one deciding the course of action. Here's an Example I'd like to avoid: CCIA#1 is taken hostage by Sir Griefer. CCIA#2 or NanoTrasen Officials steps in out of now where, even contacted by Command Personnel, and takes charge or decides orders. Command Personnels being unable to do anything. I'd just prefer Command Personnels being able to decide for themselves. "YOU DIG DAWG?!" That wouldn't happen because in events like that the CCIAs escort assumes command of them. If they're not alive then it would fall on security to get them out of there. Central would only likely get involved if security or station heads aren't able to resolve the issue.

Well that particular shift you were me, attacking an engineer, in a very public place. With stolen equipment from the Chief Engineer. I'll remember to dislocate apprentice's knees next time they steal a voidsuit. Fun fact, it was actually left on the table outside our outpost.
-
You step up from alert level and escalate appropriately. A singular Cadet with no heads couldn't do that. If stuff like that is occurring you need to reach out to Central about possibly getting some assistance in the form of an ERT.
