The Captain cannot spawn with a Security HuD, unsure about other HuDs, I believe that should be changed. Captains are captains afterall. Is there a serious reason this is not permitted? Captains being able to see arrest status and pull up information seems like a normal thing that should be permitted.

It's probably to stop captains from feeling like they're a member of the security force. The idea is that they delegate all of that to the team that's supposed to handle it.

Anything a captain can do with a hud they should be asking their HoS to do.

If they really want one they can equip one via loadout.

 

Maybe you didn't read the OP very clearly, because it specifically was posted about the fact that you cannot equip one via the loadout. ;p

apologies, I had woke up fairly recently when I wrote that, anyways, perhaps a middle ground we can agree with is to allow the captain to spawn with them if they choose to via load-out

no the suggestion is that the captain gets given sec hud when they spawn, like how officers are given cuffs when they spawn, I am suggesting it be more voluntary

Yeah I disagree. Captains don't need a secHuD on spawn. Even by loadout. If you really must have one to be snowflake secCaptain, just get one from security.


But you shouldn't. Like jackboot says, DELEGATE.

As something different, and I know this isn't the thread for it but just checking on how it would be received, would it be possible to add an Administrative Hud which instead of calling up their security details allows you to easily call up their employment records?

I'd rather not have captains spawn in with secHUDs and create issues with lineleading and proactively going out of their way to set anyone that wrongs them to arrest. If there isn't a head of security that is one thing, but the captain should be delegating in 90% of all cases and promoting an interim head of staff in 10% of the other cases. Much as I'm unwilling to promote HOPcurity I'm not a fan of legitimizing capcurity in anything other than emergency circumstances in which donning a secHUD by walking into sec just to grab a pair would be okay.


They shouldn't have access to that equipment though as it is not part of their inherent responsibilities to be utilizing and declaring who deserves to be arrested or not. That's quite unbecoming of their position and their focus should be on acting as a leader when the round starts and maybe later if they are needed then they can take charge.


The question I often ask myself when I play captain isn't "will my job be made easier overall if I have a secHUD" but rather "I'm likely to have too much on my plate, playing capcurity isn't going to be appropriate in 99% of code green circumstances."
