DronzTheWolf Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 I made this sprite of a lever-action rifle, and briefly suggested it in my new gun thread, but I want to touch on this individually. The reason I want it in-game is as a Raider weapon, and I want it to have to be hand-loaded. It'll be unique in that it will be a rifle firing a handgun-caliber round: .357 magnum. I know what you're thinking 'Dronz that'd be OP' and you might be right, but it's just a handgun round, and it's Raider, they have a hard enough time already with half the team falling down holes on the way in.
Scheveningen Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 reminder that .357s can oneshot. 50-50% chance if it hits the head in which it chooses one of two organs, the eyes or the brain. 60 brute to the brain is instant death. then I am pretty sure it is either 25-33% depending on if it hits the heart or not. Once the heart takes enough damage it'll render someone instantly dead.

You'd have to be a lucky raider to get it, and remember to actually work the lever like with a pump shotgun.
DronzTheWolf Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 I resurrect this thread with a new-and-improved lever-action rifle sprite. Enjoy.
Pratepresidenten Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 This seems like a fitting outdated addition to our ragtag band of hole-divers. Although I would assume it has a low magazine capacity due to the caliber?

Three more than the traitor revolver, making it favorable over buying it with vault TC, but not enough to make it last an entire firefight. That, and it has to be loaded by hand, and not with a speed loader.

It's a fine amount, but, I wouldn't use the argument that it's 'not enough to make it last an entire firefight'.

Dropping it down to 8 would make it pretty much a combat shotgun but it takes .357 instead. That, and considering how often ballistic helmets/vest (And now arm/leg armor) eats bullets without doing any damage to the user, I'd say 10 is a good number.

Fair, seeing as the shotgun has more versatility in it's potential ammo loads. Speaking of, will this be able to fire .38s?

CommanderXor Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 I personally would like to see a Martini-Henry lever action rifle since it'd be single shot per shot. I tried to code such myself in the past but I never got around to implementing it to spawn and githubbing it. Now, when you say hand-loaded, do you mean it's single shot, you have to insert a new round and such, or you have to load each round like a shotgun and then 'pump' it per round?

It would work a lot like a shotgun, being a tube-fed lever-action rifle. It's meant to be similar to a Henry or a Winchester.
CommanderXor Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Ah, so more like a tube-fed rifle than something of a single shot semi-high damage weapon. Sure, +1, seems like it could provide interesting alternatives to combat for raiders.
