MelodicVoid Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) Basic InformationByond Account: MelodicVoidCharacter Name(s): Bill Mull, Mae Aiiko, Emeal Riktio, Hope Of A Fallen Sapphire, Riluxin Xrimqu-Tup. (I have 23 characters total, those are the ones I mostly play)AI Name(s): C.R.O.s.S (AI) T.E.R (Borg)Discord username + tag: Posty#4463Age: 21Timezone: ESTWhen are you on Aurora?: Anytime from 1 PM EST to 1-2 AM EST ExperienceHow long have you played SS13?: Just under a year How long have you played on Aurora: Aurora was the first station I joined when I loaded SS13 for the first time. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: Although not perfect, and I am still learning small details of new jobs I believe I have most of the mechanics down. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: I do not, I Have experience being a moderator for other games and twitch Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: I would say that I do. My activity has increased drastically and I need to use the forums more actively. Increasing forum activity is easy enough. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I have not been banned Personality Why do you play SS13?: I started playing SS13 because I had a big interest in Roleplay and that pretty much why I play it, To create new characters and have them make friends, enemies and more. I enjoy the problem solving where one character would simply hack a door to get out of a room this character can't and I need to think of what they can do to escape the room. Why do you play on Aurora?: I choose Aurora due to its Heavy Roleplay tag. I play on Aurora because I find the core community to be really enjoyable to interact with, of course there are some trolls but they are delt with swiftly and that is why I enjoy and play Aurora. What do moderators do?: I believe a moderator has two main goals, among others. The first goal is to regulate not only antags but also normal players. Using a knowledge of the rules to resolve issues. This ensures that the round is fun for everyone. No one wants to have a round end in 20 minuets because the SM was caught in a firefight between non-antags. However note that a moderator is not get involved unless they are clearly breaking the rules, involvement in every situation is pointless and a bother to the players playing by the rules. The second man job of a moderator is to Assist and inform. When someone has a issue that is simply a gameplay mechanic and they Ahelp it a moderator should be the first to respond with the issue and inform the asker, and follow up to make sure it solved the issue, this way it will stop a future request for the same issue if the person is properly informed on how to do it. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Being a moderator on Aurora is to be someone who Upholds the rules, is extremely helpful and should be a staple in the community. It is someone who should be willing to answer all questions, no matter how insignificant. In my opinion, similar to command staff they help usher new players to a level of roleplay excellence that is enjoyable for everyone. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I want to be a moderator for a few reasons, the first and foremost being that I want to help the current team with AHelps as I know they can get swamped sometimes and in doing so help someone out or help to stop the round from becoming a unenjoyable disaster from a troll. Next is long term goals as I currently am a software developer coding mostly in C++ and scripting in Perl but before trying to get in as a dev I would like to learn the mechanics in place for a moderator so I have a deeper understanding of how the systems work. Assisting with events would also be fun. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I believe I am understanding person who can approach situations from a neutral stand point. I believe I am able to inform and educate relatively well, and I am Patient in listening, as said above I have been a moderator for other games and such, most skills are transferable. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I actually spent about a year working Retention for a cell phone company. Everyone who comes into that department is typically extremely angry, I was typically able to resolve and deescalate their issue even with them yelling at me and calling me names. I believe I handle it quite well, the key to it is understanding that its not actually you but the situation they are in and you are just a outlet. I believe I can handle stress quite easily as well. Anything Else You Want to Add: Any and all feedback is welcome, thank you. Edited March 2, 2019 by Juani2400
Flamingo Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 @MelodicVoid Hello. I will be handling your interview. I’ll be contacting you sometime soon on discord.
Faris Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 (edited) I want to endorse this application for trial. A pretty chill and easy going individual. No issue when it comes to them roleplaying, so I believe they can properly enforce standards. Interview also shows they've got a certain understanding of moderation for Aurora and just need some experience to get the flow of rule enforcement. Best of luck. +1 Edited January 28, 2019 by Sharp
Doxxmedearly Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 I would also like to vouch for Melodic. She's a very passionate and friendly person, and was one of the players who really inspired me to keep coming back when I was new here. She has always, always been open to criticism and seeks to improve herself, as her past whitelist apps have shown. It may be a rough start as she gets used to the motions, but I think she can handle it. +1
