What is black K'ois?

Ah yes, black Kois, the most beautiful flower of all.

It's a mutation of the Kois plant. It drains the light out of its surroundings, the more there is, the less your flashlight will help you.

It grows inside everyone, you breathe it in you are most likely going to die -> or worse

It releases phoron into the air. Fight it with fire? You die because the room is now on fire.

It needs no light and no water and can grow everywhere.

People usually don't enjoy it a lot, but for the dedicated xenobotanist it can be a lot of fun displaying it in unsecured trais all over the station or engineering a weapon that could while out planets.

Overall... If you see it, you are probably dying, because you technically don't exactly see it without a ton of lights.

You can grow this as xenobotanist, but is usually only used by antags due to how fast it spreads and how lethal it is. Your usuall Kois outbreak means lockdown for the entire station and screening people on the Odin. Black Kois might mean the Odin coming to you in form of an ERT.

Overall not a beginner friendly plant, but one of my personal favourites for causing panic.

What does the black K'ois version of mycosis do? The wiki says the infection is in the brain which suggests that it's different from regular K'ois infection.

Turns you into a literal black k'ois zombie.

Bioweapon, shortly. Regular k'ois spreads absurdly quickly and is deadly to non-Vaurca; this is the same but with the added bonus of draining light, being deadly to every species period and connecting you to a hivemind as soon as it takes root. As with regular mycosis, the infected keep vomiting spores, which means you want a biosuit fast if you're not made out of metal. A specific chemical purges the spores and the mycosis, but it's poisonous to everyone and horribly lethal to Vaurca specifically, not to mention expensive.

Ah yes, I remember when black kois was first implemented... after a few rounds ending after 30 mins kois was nerfed and removed from public seed vendor (yes, this plant was on plantable in hydroponics and garden)
