Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 We are currently asked when filing an IR if we reported it before coming to CCIA. However nothing really comes of that. There have been IRs about all sorts of small incidents such as calling someone a mean name or other minor infractions. These go over commands head and basically allow you to IR anyone at any time and force them into time consuming interviews to defend themselves. IRs that say "no" should be thrown out unless: 1) Command could not handle it at all and, 1a) The incident was at least an orange level infraction, 1b) the incident is repeating because no action/in spite of action being taken by Command. In a related manner, if the offender was punished/not punished we treat it like a staff complaint and have the resolving command member IR'd. Having the accused punished or having command decide to not punish them only to have them IRd either way is double dipping for punishment.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 We have a policy about it but its not really enforced, to be clear.
Snakebittenn Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 I fully agree. 90% of them could just be solved by station command, and /should be/ solved by station command.
Arrow768 Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 I believe that is a good idea, as long as there is still the option to escalate it to ccia on the recommendation of command (i.e. for repeated instances of problematic behavior or cases of extreme stupidity).
Azande Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 @Garnascus you mentioned this the other day you should totally show this thread to CCIA.
Cnaym Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 1) Absolutely. If it was 1 minute before round end, let CCIA take it. If command was hiding from a merc squad in the bunker same applies. 1a) Personal conflict does not always have to be a big one. Sometimes CCIA stepping in to resolve racism and such generates the fun RP that it is intended to provide. They are not always there to fire folks. 1b) Yus, in that case it should even be filed by the command player in question. Overall agree with that one, although it means more work (for me).
The lancer Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 The pains of getting it through command are real, for it requires more people and time. On rounds where there is an antag, the above are ever more strained. Furthermore, command staff usually don't know what happened themselves, and defer the case to IRs. I'm not saying that command should do that, but if we want to make IRs more command centric, some things will need to be approached differently.
