Snakebittenn Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 In response tohttps://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/9907 This thread mostly exists to ask the community if it presents a problem or not to have flash-proof sunglasses be just accessible. Arguments I can think of for this: Hardly anyone uses flashes Flashes no longer stun Security has thousands of other tools besides flashes that are way more effective There are readily-accessible means of gaining flash protection anyways The old 'stylish' sunglasses were bloat in some way shape or form Flashbangs would still be reasonably effective Trust in the community for everyone and their mother to not be wearing shades Criminals would way rather have something like thermals or night vision over such a low-tier passive benefit
Alberyk Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Flashes are already really weak, we don't really another reason to make them totally useless by one or two loadout points. 6 minutes ago, Snakebittenn said: Trust in the community for everyone and their mother to not be wearing shades I am unsure if we can go with this.
Arrow768 Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 I concur with alberyk and second the vote for dismissal. 2 hours ago, Snakebittenn said: Trust in the community for everyone and their mother to not be wearing shades "Trust the community to do x / not to do x" is a flawed concept as demonstrated repeatedly. All it takes is a few people to ruin the fun for everyone. (See the requirement for species whitelists, The large number of "bad" books in the library, ...)
Carver Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 I'm for this if only because flashes being trash shouldn't hold this sort of thing back. They hardly do anything against flashbangs, and the welder protection isn't very reliable at all. The biggest reason I want them readily available though is so people can wear Thermal Aviators without them being the most obvious metabait on anyone who isn't a Captain, HoP or Liaison.
