WickedCybs Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Was excited for this PR to be merged and now that it is, properly. Wanted to give a bit of feedback, mainly just from a few things I have noted. So, caps looks nice overall. I'm noticing though that now they all cover the eyes of a character when facing downwards. Thought maybe its intentional, but personally I preferred when they were slightly raised so you could see the eyes. Another thing is that these two caps these two generic officers here are wearing are the EPMC gray cap and the corporate security cap. The corporate security cap got changed to be gray now, which no longer really goes with the corporate security uniform. These are both the corp sec cap here. Old and new. I wish I had more pictures of the older one to do a better side by side comparison but I don't, sadly. Just wanted to show how this actually revealed the eyes, the colour difference and how it had a bit of a wider profile compared to the newer variant. Really, I think in the end the biggest improvement would be just raising the cap up slightly. Could be a good stylistic choice on some but it also looks odd on certain xenos having it so far down.
KingOfThePing Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Could it be that the IAC beret was changed to a soft cap, too? Only the name says it is a soft cap, it was always supposed to be a beret. The caps though, for the rest, are pretty nice. I prefer them over the old ones.
wowzewow Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Yeah, I can fix these. The brim going down was just me standardizing everything. For the IAC hat, it was coded and written like a soft cap. So I fixed that. I can re-add the beret anyway no problem.

Berets are just cosmetic headwear and don't weigh the same like security berets, I guess? But thats not for me to decide!

I don't see any particular reason for berets to be restricted when they're just another form of hat, and have no armour values either.

It's specifically the IAC beret - it's limited to Medical roles to stop random people on the station claiming IAC volunteer status and magically have every medical skill as a Janitor.

They can claim anything, it doesn't really matter as they lack the equipment Medical has to begin with. A hat for an organization that isn't intrinsically tied to NanoTrasen's Medical wing shouldn't be magically removed from someone's head because they decided to visit their workplace instead of working as a doctor for the day, or because they aren't working with NanoTrasen Medical to begin with.

While I still agree with you, you can just get the IAC armband, which does not have any restrictions and claim the same. People do that, too! Or, well, used to, quite frequently in the past.
Carver Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 On that note, I'm fairly certain you can get armbands for any department you please and jackets for any department you please. Unless it has some mechanical purpose (armour/HUDs) or is a straight-up uniform (which is exclusively undersuits) there's no reason for it to be department-locked.
