Reason for complaint: Warning placed.
Evidence/logs/etc - Listed:

On January 13th, 2021, I received a warning from Itzal in the form of the below:

The warning was placed regarding language I used when I was randomly pinged regarding an elevator safety thing on the forums, where I responded “I don’t give a fuck. Don’t ping me.” as showcased below:

The day following my statement I received the warning, which considering the copious amounts of usage of foul language, I felt was highly misguided and honestly unneeded, considering my contact with the player I responded to in question being friendly, and they didn’t even report my response, leaving me to wonder why exactly this was an issue when the person I responded to had no issue with it as well.

This whole situation set off a chain of events that I’ll address sometime following the resolution of this complaint, one way or another, but the major crux of the issue is the warning itself and the placement, considering we have literally dozens of posts with people swearing, and there isn't even a rule regarding inappropriate language on the rules themselves.

Additional remarks: I lost The Game.

Not much to say on my side, I saw the report, I looked at it and saw your responde which I thought was inappropriate language, so I gave you a warning which normally expires in 3 months.

Then you went off and reported a lot, and I mean a lot, of posts which contained the word "Fuck" in some way or another, so you got slapped again for spamming.

This is not related to my warning at all, Shadow. So I would appreciate you remain on topic and refrain from bringing up unrelated matters.

Regarding the rest of your response, I am refraining from posting until a Head Administrator can handle the complaint, as a back-and-forth with you isn't something I'm interested in entertaining.

Rules relevant to the warning from the suggestions forums:

  • Do not derail the topic.

  • Developers will delete all posts that violate any of these rules or are not contributing to the discussion in a suggestion.

Rules relevant to the warning from the general board rules:

  • Don't be a dick. We're all here to have fun, not fight and argue with assholes. Don't ruin the game for everyone else, and use common sense. This includes anything from attacking other people, starting arguments over nothing, etcetera.

My post was not deleted.

I did not attack anybody.

I was randomly pinged for a topic I had no interest in partaking it. I probably could have just as easily not responded but I felt I should respond given somebody quite frankly called me there.

@StationCrab attempted to contact Arrow regarding the situation, so considering the player I supposedly "attacked" felt I wasn't attacking them, I don't understand the issue, especially if my post isn't worth deleting.

To be clear, any one of the items I listed is something we issue warnings for. Not sure why Shadow didn't hide the post tho, might have forgotten?

I wasn't warned for being a dick. I wasn't warned for off topic discussion.

I was asked my thoughts on the matter by somebody partaking in the conversation randomly. I responded with my thoughts on the topic. The player didn't think I was being a dick, and I very much wasn't attacking somebody by saying "I don't give a fuck. Don't ping me."

As for why the post wasn't hidden, I'm not a mind reader so I don't know.

This is the warning given to you by Shadow/Itzal:
Where did you get the idea from that you were warned for "off topic discussion"?

I was pinged into here so I will just say two things.

One: I did not report Menown's post. I was a bit confused by the seemingly hostile reply, but we hashed it out in private. I am not sure who reported it.

Two: My post was meant as a joke and a reference to a very old round where Menown's character got crushed by an elevator. That was the reason for the @

That is my involvement.

There is a contextual difference between inserting curse words in everyday speech and being rude to someone. Someone pinged you over a joke and you said "i dont give a fuck dont ping me". There are healthier ways to get that point across and while this might be a bit pedantic yes we do warn people over that. I suppose i can change the warnings wording to better reflect this but its absolutely out of the question that the warning itself is invalid.

The player did not report me. In fact I reached out to Stationcrab to let him know why I responded as I did.

That said, I was warned for inappropriate language. To go ahead after the fact and alter it to be better fitting shows nothing more than it was misplaced in the first place, and that somebody other than the person I responded to reported me.

It's extremely unfair to warn somebody over something somebody that isn't the person involved felt was rude and it feels like nothing more than targeting.

I was warned for inappropriate language, and you are all maintaining that by using fuck, I was being rude in my response, when I am a frequent user of casual swearing.

Who reported a player is not relevant. We investigate issues as they come.

This logic is just incompatible with any semblance of a staff team. Imagine a player claimed Its extremely unfair to warn somebody over gank when the person that got ganked did not report it. I promise you that if you where "targeted" over anything here it was spamming reports on anyone who said "fuck" and filling our box.

(everything)

The player did find my response rude. I did not intent for my response to be rude. You are claiming I was being rude to somebody that did not take offense or find what I said rude.

You are manufacturing an issue where there is none. There is no victim for my supposed offense as the person I respond to does not see themself as a victim of anything.

Somebody else found my response rude, to which I claim at what point does an outside party dictate what constitutes is acceptable talk between two friends?

I would appreciate you not bringing up what occurred after the warning, as it doesn't pertain to the warning itself. I already asked Shadow to not do this as it's irrelevant to my warning so I would appreciate you not drifting off topic.

I am not sure in what world you think lecturing us is going to help your case but it is not the world we are living in. Regardless this has gone on long enough. I have revoked the original warning and added a new one that better reflects the problematic behavior of the original warning. This is now considered resolved.
