Character Names: Violeta Arche, Jaxon Sadar, Elna Ceban, Zoe Ines, and Annie Nebka

Species you are applying to play: Tajara

What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Silver

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this specific race: I believe it would be an interesting way to break out of the mold of just making Human characters over and over, for as enjoyable as Human lore is and as free it can be, there is something refreshing about picking up something new like another race, and exploring their lore, culture, and history. What really drew me to the Tajarans was actually their history, with the first revolution having militia groups such as the People's Emancipation Movement, Republic of Free Tajara, or the Liberated People's of Harr'masir. All of that really reminded me of real life wars such as the Congo wars and the like which makes me very happy for I like realistic depictions of wars, civil wars, and uprising, along with all the splinter cells that would pop up from such a massive war across the entire planet.

Another reason why I wish to play this race was due to their superstition, it's the same reason why I liked the Scarab lore so much. You have a lot of freedom to have your own personal form of superstitions for your character and your own good or bad omens depending on character to character. On top of all of that you have the occult-like stuff added onto it, which gives it almost a H.P Lovecraft sorta vibe to it just makes it all the more interesting to read and explore in character.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: What makes Tajara a bit different to Humans is their technological development on the home planet, for unlike the Humans, Unathi, or Skrell, most recent Tajara developments were from other civilizations. This in turn has lead to a strange mix of 1920’s and modern day livelihoods on the home planet, with it being even stated in the lore that though they have modern medicine in the New Kingdom of Adhomai, most Tajara still use more primitive forms of medicine such as herbal remedies and even bloodletting. So this can shape a lot of the perceptions of Tajara who live in these more outdated lifestyles being suddenly exposed to new technologies they might have not had access to, or the money to get depending on parts of the planet. These things are not often discussed or talked about in Human lore, and so not many people really roleplay a character from a more outdated time period. Though if we’re also to say the differences biologically speaking, they’re very different to Humans to state the obvious, Tajara tend to be quicker than Humans, more cold resistant to Humans, and can be somewhat shorter than most Humans, while also being a bit more physically frail to things like blunt trauma or lacerations due to their lighter bodies.

Character Name: Trhofiim R'odion

Please provide a short backstory for this character

Trhofiim R'odion was born in a small village outside of the city of Kaltir, he was raised as the oldest child out of three other siblings. His younger years as a child were spent often helping on the farm as best he could, hunting for game during the winters, being retold stories of his great grandfather by his family who he served as a soldier for the Kingdom of Kaltir during The Great Revolution. This had a influence on his life and made him a lot more receptive to the ideals of monarchy, nobility, and duty. Trhofiim R'odion when nearly an adult was given the greatcoat his grandfather wore during The Great Revolution, a piece of clothing that stuck with him for many years and often wore it around as often as he could during the bitter and unforgiving winters.

Trhofiim during his mid teenage years were given a lot more freedom, and in turn responsibility, one of them was finally being allowed to leave the farm proper to go to the city of Kaltir to help sell off their produce, pelts, and salted or smoked meats! This was the first time Trhofiim had ever left the village, and was immediately enamored with the city, the glowing signs of advertisement, the opera houses, and most importantly for Trhofiim the bars. Trhofiim would love every time he was brought onto one of these trips to Kaltir which was always a few times a year, and whenever he did go and wasn't busy helping sell their goods he was off spending his time lying his way into pubs to drink, gambling with what little money he was allotted for himself, or sneaking into the many opera houses.

When Trhofiim R'odion turned 22, the NKA rebellion had started, the mixture of stories from the past about his Grandfather defending the monarchy, the secret printing press releasing pro-NKA propaganda, and being so close to the capital of the NKA rebellion is what prompted him to sign up for service for the Imperial Adhomian Army. His hunting skills during the younger years of his life helped him shape up to become a scout and a skilled marksman. Though he was a scout, Trhofiim was still exposed to the same horrors almost every soldier during the civil war had to face, the endless bombardments, the chemical attacks, the bayonet charges, the deafening roar of gunfire, and the screams of dying people. But not only that, he saw the secondary effects of such as starvation, the destruction of cities and towns, and wounded or even dying/dead civilians. The horrors of war not left him mentally scarred and troubled, but physically as well, as he suffered many battle injuries that left him disfigured and half blind in his right eye. The war turned Trhofiim into a different kind of person, one who in the past was full of energy, pride, and zeal was now just a quiet and reserved man who in the end would much rather spent his time away from others.

Once the armistice was signed, Trhofiim was discharged from the military fully, he returned to his farm to attempt to resume his old life; such as hunting, farming, and tending to his land. But he found himself unable to relax, things kept reminding him of the civil war, a conversation topic here, a sudden reminding noise there, it all kept pulling him back into those moments and it slowly ate away at him until it became too much for him to take it anymore. Trhofiim attempted to try many things to stave off the reminders, prayer, writing, drawing, tasks that tried to focus his mind away from the reminders but sadly most of these offered little solace to him, and so he turned to drinking to help cope with the stress. Trhofiim's drinking only exasperated his problems further and he started to lash out at people and objects in drunken fits of rage, until one night after a particularly heavy amount of drinking things came to a head for him, and in an explosive bout of rage destroying his military uniform, his war ribbons, and what few war photos he was able to take, to try and desperately shove out the memories of the past.

Trhofiim after this and once he sobered up came to the conclusion that he couldn't exactly keep going on in this manner anymore, mentally or physically. Follow that up with the problem that he has bled through a large amount of his savings, and due to taxes he wasn't going to be able to keep a sustainable way of life even if his emotional issues were not a concern. Trhofiim looked at his options, and decided that using the rest of his savings he would move to Biesel for better job opportunities to support himself, to have easier access to facilities to help him better recover and heal from his mental trauma, and to hopefully find a place where he can settle down properly and find some form of peace.

What do you like about this character?

I like this character for it allows me to explore my own personal interest of war veterans, but also soldiers returning home from war changed.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?
I would say my skills as a roleplayer are above average.

Just to drop a little support here.

I've seen Zoe around a few times and she always comes across as a fun character to be around. Sarge seems to hold the enjoyment and inclusion of others as high priority and I, for one, greatly appreciate it. I think they would make a fine addition to the Tajarans already serving.

They have my vote, for sure.

Gonna throw my two cents here.

I'll admit to not knowing Tajara lore especially well, but Sarge has a good habit of establishing basic rules for their characters and sticking to them, which, given that they want to play an NKA character, should be a good fit.

On top of that, they do take their backstory seriously, having it affect in game activities and generate fun conflict where possible. I haven't seen them use it to cause needless or annoying problems, so as far as I'm concerned, its an easy +1.

Looking forward to seeing them in game!

Sarge is a great roleplayer, someone I've enjoyed interacting with even outside of ss13. I've gotten to know them and love each of their characters, they're constantly concerned about whether their characters are fun or not and care deeply for the experience others have while playing. I think they'll make a great addition to the whitelisted boys and after reading this application, love the backstory. Big +1

What job is he trying to go for in Tau Ceti.

What are his religious views?

Job: He is attempting to become a librarian due to the simplistic work of it, and allowing him to be left alone in a quiet and peaceful environment.

Religious views: He is a follower of the Ma'ta'ke Pantheon.

I enjoy your characters (those I know at least), so I have little doubts in you playing Tajara. Your backstory is good, too I'd say.

Two more questions:
He follows Ma'ta'ke, which god of the Pantheon does he follow?

He has fought in the war, against the enemies of the New Kingdom. How does he see PRA and DPRA Tajara after these events? He knows that there are a lot of differently aligned Tajara in Tau Ceti, how does he react to that?

In the time that I've interacted with Sarge's characters, they've shown to be a fantastic roleplayer with a firm grasp of lore and setting, particularly in regards to the Scarabs and their culture. I think they could contribute a lot to the environment of the Aurora with Tajaran characters.

That's gonna be a +1 from me.

Which god does he venerate: He gives prayers mostly to Marryam, for a lot of her portfolio's match with his beliefs, and being thankful to her for her protection during the war. But he also does give special tribute to Rredouane as well for he believed he also had some minor part in sparing him due to his skills as a soldier, and also because like the warrior god, he had a love of gambling himself as well.

Second question: I would say he would view PRA and especially the DPRA with distrust and caution. But fighting in war for so many years made him too tired to exactly hold burning hate and loathing towards people of an enemy nation. So could he work alongside them without causing an incident yes, is he going to be trusting or outgoing to them no. But that doesn't mean he will never form trust or friendships with them, just it's going to be a lot harder. Though if they were also fellow soldiers for their respective nations, he would have this kindred spirit towards them, for they understand perfectly the anguish he's going through.

While this application is better than the previous one, I have an issue with this:

this heavily influenced his life,  leaving a permanent mark on him and his personal ideals

What this really means? There is no real exploration or attempt by the character to conciliate the bad stuff that happened in the war this supposedly permanent mark on his character. If he just stops being a zealous royalist, how is this even permanent? How he express that after he moved to Tau Ceti?

Also, some parts of this application are copied from the previous one, which might explain this conflict.

This was abit of an error on my part, that was meant to get edited and the "leaving a permanent mark on him and his personal ideals" was meant to get removed. I will fix that up.

I added abit more to it, and cleared up some errors with the backstory.
