Nol4
BYOND key: nol4 Discord Username: herbs#1075 Character names: Mairan Maz, Ruaraidh Tareen, Sami Mirzaei, Shinnan Trigan, and a motley crew of extras that I've used a handful of times in misc roles. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: About a month and a half in my most recent stint. I've played a few weeks here and there across the last year or so. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? None. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of staff mediate round flow with strong IC power. Ideally, this takes the form of coordinating their department as part of the larger ship, adding momentum to storylines around them, and facilitating enjoyable play as much as possible. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Chiefly: 1. Know the department well, be able and willing to teach others, and integrate those newbies. 2. Don't be a clod - avoid clique behavior, avoid OOC slapfights / metagrudging, be kind. 3. Have a good sense of round flow and a desire to encourage the stories/play of others. I have a long background in tabletop, online, and specifically SS13 roleplay. I like to believe I prioritize the OOC enjoyment of players and am not easily blinded to remembering that every character has a person behind them trying to have fun for a few hours. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Julia Laszofi can't go home. She emigrated off Visegrad five years ago to continue a high-soaring career in medicine with Zeng-hu, and has watched with growing horror from afar as the phoron crisis and subsequent disintegration of Sol first threw her homeland into anarchy, then military rule- and the type of military rule that searches border ships for people fleeing to work for SCC corporations. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? CMO. I'm interested in HoP, Liason, and CE down the line once I'm a bit more acclimated and actually figure out how tcomms work. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yep! Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: No existing characters: Julia Laszofi, CMO, is created fresh for the role. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yep! Have you linked your byond account to the forums? Yep! Link to comment
EJJ
Played with Maz as VARIANCE and with Ruaraidh Tareen and some of their other characters as my other lads. A very good player, good at coordinating medbay even not as a command role. I think if they're given the chance they'd be very good at coordinating characters and keeping medbay running! +1 Link to comment
FearTheBlackout
Nol has a great cast of characters, all fun to interact with. On Aurora, they've cemented themselves as a good Medical player and an even greater friend of Claudia with several of their characters, and several of the situations we've dealt with together have been memorable. They know how to be clever and witty with speech, and overall I would call them 100% fit for Command. +1! Link to comment
WickedCybs
My take is that they're a courteous, responsible player inside and outside the game and have made a good effort to try and get into Aurora. I've had some interactions with a lot of their various characters, it's all been nice enough. I'll be interested in seeing them on a trial. Edited May 28, 2022 by WickedCybs Link to comment
RisingValiant
Singlehandedly carried medical when I got split. Nol has my vote. +1 Link to comment
Rookie Eyes
I've interacted with Shinnan the most ICly so all I can comment is that Nol's RP does make her characters stand out in a positive way. The bar usually seems more populated with them around, and there was a very recent round where they had to step in to help in medical as Shinnan. I think they did a good job of keeping as many people in the round as possible without abusing meta knowledge from their other characters. It's a +1 from me. Link to comment
MattAtlas
On trial from 30MAY2022 to 05JUN2022. Link to comment
Faye <3
i do not see why not. they know the mechanics and write coherently. they're nice, as well Link to comment
FearTheBlackout
Just want to reinforce that Nol is deserving of the whitelist; their character, Julia, is pleasant to talk to, and runs the Medbay well and efficiently. Link to comment
Roostercat
I've been enjoying their CMO a lot. They are knowledgable enough, coordinate well, and act like a normal person. +1 for sure. Link to comment
RisingValiant
They really serve to elevate the medbay RP, fun to be around and good at their job Link to comment
Omicega
[Medical] Julia Laszofi says, "Pop quiz. Treatment of tetanus. Solveig, ten seconds." [Medical] Julia Laszofi says, "Wound debridgement, HiG, anti-spasmotics- you name it. Tetanus is terrible. I've only seen it twice." I wasn't actually in this round as medical, but I caught this while I was observing at roundstart before joining engineering later in the same round. The only reason I wanted to come in and mention this at all is because it kind of presses a sore point for me; namely the potential for IRL medical knowledge creeping into IC dialogue, and the disconnect that creates between players who are in the medical field themselves and players who aren't. I've had bad experiences on certain HRP servers where there was almost a culture of 'shaming' people for not knowing medical terms or IRL medical treatments or whatever, and while I don't know if this was meant to cross that line or not I want to make it clear that I'm not really comfortable with too much OOC terminology creeping into medical at all, especially from a CMO who can't really be shouted down. Other than that, though -- the rounds I have played with you as CMO, I thought you did just fine. One was a hellish lowpop raider round where I think you did the best anyone could expect from you considering the shocked doors; the other I was actually in medical underneath you and appreciated your clear communication. I regretted this as soon as I did it, however, I hope it's less egregious in context- the other player being addressed is a nursing student (as am I), and it was supposed to be a gentle OOC tease about our endless suffering. I would never have done that to someone random. I pulled from google for everything Julia said here and it's PROBABLY mostly wrong. That said, as mentioned above, I regretted it, because that just scares away people who aren't in on the joke. It shouldn't happen again. <: Edited June 3, 2022 by Nol4 Link to comment
