restricted Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Everything moves slow as shit and the rounds only two hours long so you can spend more than a quarter of that looking for something, or if you're in a small vessel less but have no fuel left.
Lonefly Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 I hard agree with this. As a BC main, the speeds are SO fricken slow. They make it really only viable to go to, like, one place per round given that we only play for two hour rounds typically. +1
Owen Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 100% agree it is such a pain in the ass to move the Horizon anywhere in a reasonable timeframe. I don't think there is really a justification to make the Horizon have the mobility of a beached whale, especially since it has such a bit impact on our ability to explore the sector beyond a single area
Carver Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 On one hand I like that it creates genuine decisions on which areas to prioritize travel to. On the other, moving about 6-7 tiles takes a while and you're generally locked into that one choice anyways by virtue of away teams and miners taking their sweet time to do their shit. So I don't really see why it couldn't be sped up, especially if fuel consumption was adjusted to ensure the same fuel usage in the same distance as before.
WickedCybs Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 I've always wanted this and don't really see it as much of an issue if the Horizon was to become more maneuverable.
Boggle08 Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 From the discussion in discord that spawned this, it sounds like the problem is the acceleration cap put on the ship, more than anything else. Even if engineering can create a pure phoron pipeline at pressures exceeding 15,000 kPa, it would likely not make much of a difference. Sucks for the bridge, sucks for the backend nerds that are trying to optimize. The cutoff point where all you can do is add more volume to the thrusters so they don't bottom out as fast sounds much closer than anticipated. Even if there's no cap, it sounds like standard operation is too slow.
Butterrobber202 Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 we should be able to ram planets and knock them out of orbit. more SPEED!
Zelmana Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 Looks like im going to need to set a new hot phoron speed record
