gladiatorgames123
BYOND key: GladiatorGames123 Discord Username: GladiatorGames#4844 Character names: These are all the characters I have ever made/played, to save you from having to scan through the list, the most commonly/recently played of mine will be just below. I have an addiction. Help. Sevastian Yevgeniy, Dakota Shepherd, Erik Valbrandsson, Chain. Spoiler How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I've been playing on Aurora since early 2019, having taken a break in 2020 for some time, but from then on, I've been playing rather consistently! Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I'm afraid so! While I've received some administrative actions from 2019 which are long cleared up now and not going to be resurfacing issues anytime, I have had my whitelist stripped for the live execution of a Mercenary/Raider combo member over radio as a HOS. Suffice to say it was not my proudest moment... Since then I've reread the rules and expectations for a Head, especially in the Security position and now well and truly know what limits I have and should keep. If you have any questions as to what happened or wish for a more detailed explanation, feel free to hit me up on discord. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Personally, I believe a Head of Staff's OOC purpose ingame is to teach and develop players. By this I mean that Heads of Staff should be some of the first people to reach out to new players and teach them on the basics, intermediary and advanced levels of departmental play, all the way from a more ingame sense of how to physically do your job, giving these new players more OOC tips and tricks to make life easier for them or even down to ways how to roleplay better, getting in touch with those who may ask for a helping hand and providing them advice on how to improve their play. On the other hand, Heads of Staff also should serve to develop players that are past the point of learning how to use mechanics, teaching even more experienced players new ways to do things that maybe more simple or even simply acting as a guiding hand for finer refinements of characters of players who've been around for a while. For example, I remember when I had been playing within Aurora for a long time within Security, I was familiar with the mechanics, how to roleplay, how to create a character more in depth, but a Head of Security was able to show me how to go beyond that and improve my roleplaying skills so that my roleplay wasn't to achieve a mechanical outcome but instead to roleplay and use it for roleplay purposes. Things of that sort! What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The OOC responsibilities of a Head of Staff to others is similar to what has been explained above, a whitelisted player should serve as a 'pillar of the community', being an approachable, dependable and helpful part of the community, serving as a go-to person for people needing assistance. Perhaps someone needs an extra helping hand in learning how to work in a department and using its mechanics? these whitelist holders can help with that! Maybe someone needs help creating their character or even writing their very own whitelist? These Heads of Staff can help! Or perhaps someone simply wants to know something as mundane as where can I go to ask X question? Well, yet again, the whitelisted player is there to lend a helping hand. With all of the values above, I intend to embody them, being completely free for anyone to hit up for whatever information they want! Or maybe even if they want to just have a chat, I'm always free to talk to! Alongside being a pillar of the community, these whitelist holders should also strive to be a representation of how players should act OOCly, being sure to obey rules and setting examples for people to follow. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? The year is 2464 and tensions are high as ever around Tau Ceti... Waves have been made within the SCC at the recent mutiny within the SCC's poster child ship, the Horizon with multiple crew and important members of staff having been suspended, or completely terminated from the SCC's payroll, alongside the internal issues within the 'Great Chain' there have been multiple significant events around the spur of which should be noted. The further fracturing of the Solarian Alliance has caused an ever growing power vacuum of which has turned once peaceful space into a violent brawling ground for warlords, while the Alliance proper licks its wounds. Within the not so distant Elyra, peaceful protests spurred on by Phoron shortages and other various issues have just been stomped out, causing civilians to question the true intentions and morals of the government they once viewed as protectors. Alongside this, further issues have occurred pertaining to Biesel space, with protests within the Industrial center of New Gibson assisting in the ending of the much hated Peacekeeper mandate. Generally Tau Ceti has become an unstable ground of which has been facing further increasing issues exasperated by the lack of Phoron, with governments all around struggling to detract from this issue, with those who especially can't distract from it facing protests as seen in Elyra... Dakota Shepherd has seen the writing on the wall, having been laid off from the Solarian Navy due to the sudden shrink in budget following the great collapse, he's moved on from contracting and living within Sol, moving to greener, more stable pastures. After some time of roving and seeing where further contracting could take him he wound up in Biesel, facing 'issues' with employment due to his background and generally having a more sour experience all relating to his past in the Solarian Navy, after some time he was able to score a contract on board the SCCV Horizon, attempting to rise himself upward to the rank of Chief Engineer due to his past experiences in Command roles aboard Solarian Vessels, but just as much as this experience would help secure him this roll, it has hindered him just as much. But, with some time and toning down of his 'positive' attitude toward Sol, he's been able to secure a position of Chief Engineer, under the close supervision of SCC officials... What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Chief Engineer (Primarily), Executive Officer (Depending on if I feel as though I wish for more variety) Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Dakota Shepherd (Chief Engineer), Christopher Turner (Executive Officer). Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you linked your byond account to the forums? I'm not exactly sure! Some part of me says yes but I am not one hundred percent sure. Extra notes: Link to comment
Rookie Eyes
When I first began playing on Aurora Sevastian Yevgeniy was one of the first characters I met ICly, and immediately made a good impression. That stayed consistent on every round I played with them as well as Amadi Nnamani, and Erik Valbrandsson. I recall that it was a deadpop round, and we ended up 'cleaning' weapons in the armory as my cadet. Gladiator not only went over this ICly as Sevastian, but went out of their way to answer any LOOC questions I had about how the mechanics would apply to this. Likewise the first time meeting Nnamani I think they delivered really well on the whole 'devil in a suit and tie' character, or at least that's the vibe I got. I think they're a very capable roleplayer, a welcoming player OOCly, and would be a good addition to command for these reasons. +1 Link to comment
Diggey
I actually never really interacted with their characters until I met Chain This person oozes and radiates character If they had a WL before I am not surprised in the least I am not worried that someone like them would make a bad CE As a matter of fact I am looking forwards to the next mass bombing or meteor storm with them +1 Link to comment
Kelnor
Dakota is awesome, in character breach and EVA training by a salty Chief Petty Officer RP is top notch. +1 edit: salty is a navy term that means experienced by the way. Edited October 7, 2022 by Kelnor Link to comment
Jasorn
Can tell a lot of effort is put in with these characters, interacting with Chain has always been fun +1 Link to comment
EJJ
I've played with Gladi several times, the guy's got a really good sense of RP and character writing; all of his chars have a lot of detail, especially in gear and loadout detail. His characters have consistent senses of self and place in the setting while none of them feel too far out there. Chain is a treat, though I do want to see more of a lot of his other chars, some of them I haven't seen enough of. +1 Link to comment
Shadow
Trial starts today and ends on the 16th. Try to get feedback regarding your command play during this time. Link to comment
Omicega
I've played in security with Gladiator for a long time now, mostly in and around Sevastian Yevgeniy. He's always come across as a really thorough and believable roleplayer who rarely (if ever) seems to get knocked out of character, but beyond that he also exhibits a real sense of fair play and OOC good faith when it comes to interacting with other players and especially antagonists. I just had my first round with his CE trial character too and I'm convinced, based off both that round and the months of gameplay I've seen from him before, that he's more than a match for the command whitelist. +1 Link to comment
WickedCybs
What I've seen is good and I think you would be fine in command as long as you moderate the more extreme aspects to your characters. The executions as your HoS, or Erik being willing to "parole" someone with a mutiny charge are what comes to mind there for me. Link to comment

Focusing myself on trying to keep things 'calmer' with my characters and keep grounded. As for the parole part, I believe it got lost in translation, he wasn't trying at all to parole Dennis, simply give him something to do while he sat in the Brig. Though I can see why people could view it the other way! Anyway, appreciate your comment! Thanks for stopping by! Link to comment
sperky7933
+1 I played with Dakota Shepherd a couple of times and I can confidently say they are a good player. Link to comment
Sheeplets
I've only interacted with Yevgeniy in the past, but if he's any indicator of the quality you have to offer then consider me impressed. +1 Link to comment
Flpfs
Dakota is a fleshed out character that stood out to me on his interactions on a few rounds I have played in with you. If this pattern keeps up, you will make a very good command player in due time. +1 Link to comment
Dreamix
Played a round with Dakota, as my XO. They did alright. Got involved in command matters, etc. No red flags. Link to comment
EJJ
Communicates well and responds well on command comms when you ask him to do stuff!!!!!!!!!!!! I've asked him on short notice to refuel mining and he gets it done. Sometimes SOLO! +1 Link to comment
