GeneralCamo Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) BYOND key: generalcamo Discord Username: GeneralCamo#4928 Character names: Comoe Oulai-Tape, Warden Abdul ibn Turkiel, Bridge Officer A few other minor characters I rarely play How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Approximately two years Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I received a warning once for picking a language I was not supposed to during an event. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: OOC, Head of Staff are expected to bring their experience with roleplaying into the community, and contribute positively to the community's growth. To this end, they are expected to show good judgement, and provide opportunities to characters to develop in the community. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Primarily to provide an example to the community on roleplaying, and hopefully provide an incentive to stay with the server and perhaps even apply to a whitelist on their own. Assisting and interacting with other players is the primary thing to do here, along with upholding the rules of the server and the standard procedures of the ship itself. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. For Comoe Oulai-Tape, their position as an Idris Detainee Retention Specialist on Eridani, a core world of the Alliance, has meant they did not feel the effects of the Phoron shortage as keenly as other characters would have. Their position aboard the Horizon came about as a result of good performance and relevant experience, and Idris preferring to send their best to represent themselves to the greater SCC on their flagship. As for Abdul, they served as a Legionary aboard a TCFL vessel. Their family historically has served in a military capacity, formerly for the Sol Government and now for the Republic of Biesel's Legion. The King of the World event, alongside the annexation of the CRZ and the resulting chaos they witnessed, convinced them not to renew their commission to the TCFL. Feeling that the SCC's goal of resolving the Phoron shortage and exploring the frontiers was more gainful than the TCFL, they took their experience and joined the recently-launched SCCV Horizon, on its search for Phoron. During this time, they have distinguished themselves in the VR simulation (Where they unfortunately lost their digital life to a stray round hitting the bridge), dealing with a potential Elyran diplomatic incident (in which he was commended specifically for this event), and in action against Pirates near S'rand'marr (where a fellow bridge crewmember lost their life next to him, and their Captain fell to a stray round). What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? For Comoe Oulai-Tape, I plan to promote them to head of security. For Abdul ibn Turkiel, I plan to go with Executive Officer with the possibility to later go with Captain depending on how they develop. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Comoe Oulai-Tape: HoS Abdul ibn Turkiel: XO, CO Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you linked your byond account to the forums? Yes Extra notes: My schedule is in flux lately, but I should be more available now to play. Edited February 21, 2023 by ReadThisNamePlz
FearTheBlackout Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 For what it counts, I haven't seen Camo's characters in play as frequently recently, but like he said, he has more availability now. I think that Comoe is the spitting image of an Eridanian officer, and I see no reason for either he or Abdul to not be able to be promoted. Camo also has a lot of involvement in the community with talking about lore and making PRs. It's a +1 from me, dawg.
Carver Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 I'd be doing a disservice by not giving him a +1, even if I lament losing one of the most capable and reliable Wardens I've ever had. Truly, I almost hope he fails his trial so that we don't lose another good Warden. Outside of the game, Camo is also a rather involved player in the community, I don't always agree with him but he seems consistently well-meaning and dedicated to Aurora.
White Void Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 I'll be giving a +1 for Camo community involvement and being active in making the server better in development. Although i can't say much in regards to the characters since i almost never talk with them or play with them
Fluffy Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 It would be criminal to not +1 camo for a trial, for all the reasons others already said
La Villa Strangiato Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Camo is a very strong roleplayer who plays very well-rounded characters. Having seen glimpses of Comoe's warden play, I feel it is a safe bet they would make a good HoS. +1
ReadThisNamePlz Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 Trial starts today - 2/14/23 and will end 2/21/23. Please collect feedback as your trial continues.
La Villa Strangiato Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 I think Comoe was a pretty good, communicative, and sane + reasonable HoS. Camo always makes an effort to roleplay in their actions, too.
Gem Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 i think Comoe does well both in commanding and conveying information. they also delegated tasks nicely. i support this application. +1
RustingWithYou Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Esteemed colleagues, Comoe has shown nothing but blue sky thinking as a head of security. I've checked the quarterlies, and Camo getting a command whitelist would put some red in the server's ledger, I'd sign that. In all seriousness, Camo's played HoS well so far and I think that he'd be a good addition to the command playerbase, +1 from me.
LordPwner Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 They handle their department well, seem to understand what a HoStaff please change Head of Security to Chief Officer or Security Chief or Commander is meant to do. I don't see a reason why they shouldn't get it. +1
FlamingLily Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Comoe has been a pretty good HoS when we've done shifts together, and I haven't seen much of Abdul but that's likely because both XO and Bridge (Unsure if Abdul's been made proper XO) are relatively insular roles thanks to being command/support and not really a greater department (I mean XO is in charge of service but I rarely play that either, so). If camo can take HoS, I'm sure they'd be fine as command, +1
Carver Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 I have not directly observed his play or been in his department during this trial; but as someone who'd played extraneous roles (Off-Duty, Consular, etc.) in rounds where he's been on as HoS, I can say he's had a generally positive impact on the greater rounds and I haven't seen it ever devolve into a mess (in a manner that could be seen as the fault of the HoS). I can't say this about all Command players/characters, but for those I can, I appreciate them being around. +1 for being one of those positive sorts.
