Meteor removal request/feedback

I feel like meteor actually provides gameplay for everyone. Even with merc there's a pretty good chance to have it involve only security. While in the start meteor might only provide shit for engineering to do, as the shields fail and everything falls apart it becomes like sort of a thrilling survival mode for everyone involved. At the end of each round we barely make it out and there's a lot of people who die and get injured and stuff. Just having everything fall apart completely is so fun occasionally

So I am of two minds here.

On the one hand, there is very little for service/ops/research/security/command support (specifically BCs) to do in meteor. It is basically "Engineers fix ship while medical try to keep people alive, for two hours". Which seems incredibly lacking, particularly given that those departments can't even do their normal jobs, as their departments will all likely end up in tatters. So I do think meteor rn is not great.

However, I am always of the mindset of rework not remove, and I would rather changes to make meteor more engaging for everyone than its outright removal. Suggestions could include making the Horizon a little tankier, but be requested to try and pick up any off-ships that are dying from the meteors or Meteors that make some simple mobs for ISD to clear out before repairs can be made. Not an extensive list, but some initial thoughts on improvements.

All in all, I think I agree with it being removed until someone can give it a new breath of life though. I observed the tail end of the most recent round - I don't really ever want to play that.

Nope.

Hard -1 and voting for dismissal. If the round wins the vote then it means people want to play and enjoy it. I might be wrong but it cannot show up in secret as i understand so it has to be voted for specifically. That is completely fair.

I'm of a neutral opinion on this topic, but I'm going to refute this. Everytime someone says "rework, don't remove", they clamor for this and then pass the work on for someone else. Oftentimes the effort/reward ratio is very bad, and it devolves into it being in stasis for years.

I'm sorry, but if your only idea is "rework don't remove" and you yourself aren't volunteering to do the rework, then it doesn't really add anything to the server except another thing on the list to work on, and nothing will ever get done.

This is absolutely false. You can vote, and not play.

There are players who vote (or at least they claim they do) for dumb gamemodes just to troll the round, with no intention of actually playing it.

You can vote and not play but most people who vote do play. Its how the server works. Even if i was willing to grant to you that rounds like this only pass a vote because of a concentrated effort of bad actors (they dont) the answer is more people need to vote.

We have SEVENTY people online right now. We had FIFTY people online during the round vote when i restarted. If those people decide they want a chaotic meteor round that is their right. It is really that simple.

Keep meteor, if people vote for something, that something should be what they get (unless it literally crash the server, legal reasons, yada yada)

Just because people are voting for a round type you aren't interested in doesn't mean it was anything remotely akin to a "troll vote". I checked who voted to make sure it was being seriously played and the amount of players who voted but didn't join the round was a small minority. Let's also factor in for actual "troll votes" they fail to run because there's also a minimum ready requirement as a fallback.

With that in mind it's not really in question people wanted to play it. The reasoning in your PR against it isn't really that comprehensive, so I'll need to read something that's more solid than saying it's a meme gamemode voted by trolls. I'll be voting for dismissal for now.

Disagree. It is a gamemode and works fine, plus it is realistic ICly. If the majority wants it, so be it. People should pay attention and actually vote when the audio warning plays instead of expecting others to do it...
